She crossed one armored leg over the other. Her face taking on an expression of deep thought. The Librarian had posed an interesting question. The only Priest with such abilities, that she had had experience with. Was the one whom had also turned her squad into puppetized corpses.

" From my experience, it had to deal with doubt. Either in ones self for another, or doubt of the relationships, whether it be love or companionship." She paused as she pulled out a cigarette. " Forgive me...." The memories from that night were still very vivid.

After she had taken a few long drags, she continued. " I believe it was originally designed for vampires, and werewolves as they had the strongest bounds...to their knowledge. Designed to work against both mates, and clans. A pack unlined is far easier to eliminate...." She paused once again to take a drag. " Forgive me for my part in the Church's advancements against your kind." She sighed and fell silent.

Dakoda stretched languidly as he had woken up to find his room empty, or better yet...filled with two gossiping little maids. He'd chastised those ladies pretty good for a while before sending them on their way with scarlet stains on their face from his amusement. Running a hand through the dark raven black hair that grazed along his sweetly sun-kissed tanned body that was bare up top. He shifted a bit using his weight on one arm to push the library doors open wide enough so that he could walk through them. Grunting softly as he rubbed the back of his neck a bit rolling one shoulder, Ah.. this was a particularly quiet room. It would be nice to get some light reading done while he was simply exploring the castle to get a feel for things. Having just arrived, he was taking his particular own person brand of dear sweet time to check everything out.

Dark slightly glowing Amethyst eyes gazed around the the many shelves of books, he could hear two voices in the library but he was barely paying much attention to them. His eyesight was set on a particular book that was on a top shelf of a bookcase that was quite very much taller then he. Sighing somewhat as his long white scaly dragon tail slid against the floor thumping a bit against it making a vibration move through the thick floor. Tsking softly as he tilted his head to the side a bit. Ah..it would be rather easy to just fly up there but his wing span would probably cause a bit of a mess in this library and well that would just be troublesome. "Tch..ah. What ever should I do about this." He tilted his head to the side a bit, the golden jewelry he wore glimmered in the lights making little shimmers and glimmers of golden light against the walls around him.

Turning his eyes spied an empty chair, walking over to it he picked it up with ease barely causing a slight ripple in the muscles of his right arm. Walking back to the bookcase he set the chair down before climbing up onto it and stretched his arm as off as it would go. Tisking slightly when his fingertips barely brushed against the binding of the book's spine. His brow began to twitch in a slightly annoyed fashion as he let out a low-toned growl deep in his throat that resonated through the air of the library. Turning he lifted his tail and gave the bookshelf a couple taps, it seemed to be able to withstand the weight of it. Grunting a bit as he leaned forward balancing on the chair as he tipped the shelf forward slightly enough for him to use the tip of his tail to push the book forwards and off the shelf letting it hit the floor with a solid thump. Easing the shelf back into place he huffed as he reached out catching some books that was falling off before grunting when one hit him in the back of the head.

He groaned softly as he brought his hand up rubbing the back of his head slightly, "....what on earth was that book made of.." to actually give him a slight bump he was quite surprised as he stepped down and picked up the spilled books before moving to place them back in their proper spot as he exhaled slowly as his fingertips graced along the cover of the book at his feet that he had meant to drop picking it up before standing up straight. He dusted himself off and sat himself down in the chair crossing his legs calmly wrapping his tail around the legs of his chair as he placed the book against his lap and opened it. Slowly flipping through it, Tapping his foot in a mildly impatient manner as he was lazily listening to the librarian and guest's conversation. There was a slight scorn on his expression as his lips tugged down into a frown, his thick dark brows furrowing together slightly.

Cain was thinking hard about the details that Xondra told him, frowning as he considered all the possibilities of what she was telling him. Still, it had been a while since she'd been active with the Church, so there was the possibility that the Special priests had made advancements on this particular technique. The ramifications were not good, though.

After a moment of thought, he looked up at her, about to say something about the direction his thoughts were taking when he heard something that made his swear rather creatively and shoot to his feet to head back into the shelves, "Bloody idiots messing with the books..." he muttered as he moved with surprising quickness.

He came around one shelf and saw the mess and started swearing even more, "You bloody idiot! What do you think you're doing!" he said in a raised voice and started picking up books to inspect them for damage then stacking them to one side, "There are ladders and step stools available for getting books from the upper shelves. Do you realize the kind of damage you could have done to them?" he continued, not even looking at who he was berating.

Of course, Cain looked even better when he was upset like this. His waist-length hair was still wet from his shower, appearing darker than the rich brown it would be when it was dry. His mismatched eyes were focused on the books but unmistakable; one red, one blue. His clothes were a pair of jeans and a shirt in a pale pink that he still hadn't buttoned up. He was barefoot since he hadn't been able to find his shoes, a long-running problem of his that had turned into a running joke among the castle servants.

He impatiently tossed some of his hair over his shoulder as he continued to check the books over, "Interrupting a conversation, stupid priests interfering with soul-bonds, bumbling idiots messing with my books, shoes missing again..." he muttered in an irritated tone as he finished checking the fallen books over then moved to collect a ladder created specifically for these shelves and put it into place.

As he moved, he revealed that he was very nicely muscled while still lean, his movements were graceful when he was in a rush or when he was fighting. Unfortunately, he tended to get a bit clumsy when he was distracted and he sometimes missed things. This time, he missed looking at who he was berating.

He picked up the stack of books easily and started up the ladder to put them back where they belonged, so concentrated on what he was doing that he missed a step or two along the way up. But he never dropped a single book as he made his way up and started putting the books back in place, still muttering about the things currently going on even though it might sound a bit confusing to anyone else listening.

He got the last book in place and started to come down but missed a step again. Unfortunately, he couldn't catch himself this time. He fell off the ladder with a startled sound...

Dakoda's brow raised up slowly when the Librarian came around the corner like that berating and cursing him like so. He tilted his head to the side a bit as he slowly uncrossed his legs and fished a small slit of paper from his pocket placing it into his book and stood up slowly sitting it on his chair. He waited until Cain was putting the books back looking completely patient though his brow was twitching every now and then. He stepped to the side reaching out and catching Cain in his arms bridal style. "You know its not very nice to insult someone you don't know" he growled in a rather low husky tone of voice. A sly smirk coming to that charm expression of his.

His eyes glowing in the faint light of the library as his muscles rippled while he was turning around adjusting Cain in his arms before slowly sitting the man down on his feet reaching up and brushing away the hair from Cain's face. He tapped the man's chin pushing his head up and back a bit to look up at him, "If you're going to scold me I'd prefer it if you were actually looking at me" a rumbling chuckle vibrated his chest as he tilted his head a bit, his deep raven black hair sliding against the sun-kissed tan skin of his muscular body.

His tail slid along before picking up one book left on the floor and he dangled it infront of Cain's face. "You missed one" he purred with an amused look on his expression the entire time. Ahh there was quite a few interesting residents here in this castle. He wondered what else he would stumble across during his stay here.

Xondra watched the events as, they unfolded. Though she was not in the mood, for this particular, event. So, she placed her cancer stick in, her lips and stood up. Without a word, she turned on her heel, and left.

The False One

Cain let out an 'oof' as he was caught by something other than the floor, which surprised him. The second thing that surprised him was the fact that someone was able to catch him, then actually hold his weight. Then he was slowly put on his feet, again surprising him.

As his hair was pushed back then his head raised by a finger under his chin, he actually blinked at the male for a moment in a bit of shock. Then another book was dangled in front of him and pulled him back to himself as he took it from the male's tail with a calmer demeanor. He checked over the book then frowned at the title, "This one doesn't even belong over here. Great... Now I'm going to have to look through every shelf to make sure everything is where it's supposed to be..." he muttered to himself.

He finally tucked the wayward book under one arm as he looked back up at the male, "Sorry about that... I'm the librarian here and I take the books pretty seriously..." he apologized softly and offered his hand, "Cain Albright," he introduced himself easily.

Then he remembered something and raised that hand to his forehead with a groan, "Xondra...." he whispered and rushed back to the sitting area only to find the one he'd been speaking to now gone and swore softly before turning to slowly head back with the book still under his arm, "Well, she's gone... No telling if she'll be back, but I got the information I needed from her..." he said to himself as he moved around the corner.

Or, intended to move around the corner. Instead, his shoulder impacted with it, sending him spinning a bit and making him ram his foot into the ladder. He swore again as he lifted the offended body part in his hands and tried to breathe through the pain, "Bloody hell! Retired hunters, books out of place, missing shoes..." he muttered as he rubbed at his foot.

He couldn't help but think that if Rose hadn't left him, he wouldn't be in this situation. But in the end, he couldn't blame her. He'd tried to warn her about getting involved with him. Apparently he did as well with women as he always had with men. He simply couldn't get anyone to stick around for long.

Current gossip had alot of theories on why the favorite librarian was single. Again. But no one had anything concrete to say about it. Though they did talk alot about the fact that Rose was the only female he'd ever been involved with...

Dakoda let out a slow breath as he was watching Cain with those dark amethyst eyes tilting his head slightly to the side. He tisked softly as he watched him smack into a shelf and then into a ladder. Ah he was going to be one of those types, it was amusing in the least as he walked over and picked Cain up walking into the sitting area and plopped him down into a chair. "Why don't you sit and take a breather for a minute". he chuckled a bit as he reached out taking the book from him and gently sat it down on the table. "My name is Dakoda" He purred as his eyes narrowed in on Cain as he knelt and reached out lifting his foot with one hand before he bent down and breathed out slowly on it letting a soothing warm surround his skin as he pulled back and pressed his other hand over it. The warm would ease the pain in the male's foot as he raised a brow at him "Feel better?" he asked in a bit of a deepened tone staring at him intensely as he stood up folding his wings behind him tightly pressing them against his back as his tail curled around his legs. He didn't want to cause any more trouble for Cain with his bookshelves that would just be a pain.

"If your shoes are missing, why not just get a new pair? and maybe have someone keep an eye out for them to not go missing again" he chuckled as he pulled another seat out and slowly sat down bringing his right leg up and laying his ankle against his left knee as he leaned back against the chair careful of his wings as they spread out a bit to allow his back to touch the chair.

Falmon Thromwatch

Falmon stood in the doorway of the library, it took him a moment to find it after being told where it was, which he thought was very odd he still had to find it, or for that matter that no one told him where to go. It was quite a Library in the end and he saw that it had just about everything he could hope for since he hadn’t come here looking for a place to sleep but rather to do research on the location specifically, the shifters and vampires, and other races didn’t really interest him at all since he had already cataloged them at some point in the past. Walking over to a line of bookshelves he started pouring over what was there, his own book already in hand as he noted down what was available, as well as writing down his own thoughts while he looked through the various shelves stopping briefly to put his gear on a table that had papers and some books like someone had been working there at some point but hadn’t been there in some time. Being quite certain he was alone he hummed a gentle tune while he went about doing his scholarly job of tending to a library that he thought could use his personal touch before he set about getting to work, and thankfully he had a room to stay in while he was there though past experiences told him he wouldn’t be using it much since his own work tended to keep him busy.

Walking over to the desk he opened of the cylinder and papers almost exploded from it due to how much he had in there and grabbed a couple after looking through them for a moment and smiled as he carefully placed the open container on the table as well as the papers and went to work searching for a couple of books that had interested him greatly and hoped this library as old as it was might have what he sought or clues to where they might reside. As he looked through the shelves that seemed to be endless, he lit the lamp that hung from his belt which gave him plenty of light, found it much easier pour over the books that lined the shelves.

Falmon Thromwatch

After spending considerable amount of time in the library Falmon sat down in a chair by the table where his belongings were and sighed, the Library was extensive and he had only just scratched the surface on all the books that were available. One thing was for sure it was going to take a lot longer for him to locate anything relevant, which in his experience just meant he had to do some considerable amount of research locating source material relevant to his current interest. He looked at his notes and couldn’t ascertain whether or not anything he’d already cataloged would yield any information, only time would tell in the end.

Sighing he stood up “alright no point sitting around when there’s a library to catalog and old text to locate” grinning he returned to where he had stopped and started looking at the wall of books and simply walked up to one section and grabbed a book briefly opening it to get an idea as to what it was and then closing it up before returning it back to it’s spot, and pausing briefly “what’s this?” he noted a fair few books had been pushed in and something was in front of them. Pulling it out he couldn’t help but shake his head when he took out a shoe from the shelf and sighed “poor book shelf someone’s been using you as storage for their shoes, this will not do.” He tossed it aside and moved the books back into position and gasping when he spotted what he was looking for “ah ha! There you are my beautiful book at last I can finally get an idea as to the origins of this castle” it was an old book which coincidentally was a hand written archive of the castle in question, though why it was specifically there and not where it was supposed to be left him bewildered. Falmon walked over to the table and sat down putting the down on the table and reached for the cylinder filled with papers and reached into it making sure not to damage any paper that was in there and grabbed one that was nearly on the bottom. Pulling it out he shook his head as he put it aside and went fishing for another piece, and only stopping after he had nearly emptied it, papers all over the table at this point and shifting them around to get at the book.

alright let’s see if the information lines up” he smiled as he opened it up and started reading it pausing only to look at the paper and continuing. Some time would pass and find that he’d fallen asleep during his research, snoring only slightly and thankfully not using the book as a pillow as he had irritatingly found himself doing in the past.

After the sun set, Cain walked into the library and frowned at the sound of someone snoring. It didn't take him long to find the culprit. And he wasn't happy about it. Still, at least he wasn't drooling on the books...

He shook his head with an unhappy sound then started putting up some of the books the man had taken down. Thankfully none of the books were the protected ones, so there was no repeat of the last time...

He stopped there, shook his head again, then moved into the back of the library, leaving his 'guest' to continue snoring. He had a crate of books and scrolls to inventory and shelve.

All was well and he got the crate unpacked and inventoried, even sorted to be put up. Then he moved to deal with the first stack of books, putting them on a shelf with other books on the progression of the Church's Hunters.

Cain was an interesting character. He was a vampire, but one with a few quirks. For example: he put on whatever clothes he reached for, which meant that right now he looked like a barefoot hippie in torn jeans and a tie-dyed shirt that actually clashed with his eyes (one crimson and one sapphire blue) with his waist-length brown hair pulled back into a ponytail; he was frequently accidentally insulting; he was a klutz 99.999% of the time; he was painfully forgetful, even forgetting to feed or get inside during daylight; and he cared more about the library and its books than he did about anything else, especially these days.

So it shouldn't have been a surprise that the books were shelved perfectly and safely... But once they were put into place, Cain somehow managed to twist his feet in the stepstool, fall, and land with a rather loud 'thump'. Followed almost immediately by some rather confusing and creative swearing involving the stool, the work he still had to do, and his missing shoes. All in no particular order.

It should also be mentioned that he'd completely forgotten about his 'guest' and any possibility of disturbing him....

Then, as he tried to get up, he actually tripped over the stool, landed with an undignified 'oof', and managed to bloody his chin. Something similar had happened to him several times in the past, so he was used to it. That didn't stop his swearing, though.

He succeeded in getting to his feet that time and resorted to pulling his shirt off to keep his chin from bleeding all over the place. Of course, that revealed that while he was the librarian, he was most certainly NOT out of shape! Under his clothes, he was very nicely muscled, built like an athlete.

And he had a small short-sword strapped to his back set for a downward draw, a skill that only assassins or bodyguards were taught. Then again, who would ever believe that a clumzy librarian would have the skills of a perfectly trained assassin?

It didn’t take long before Falmon had stirred from his unintentional sleep, the noise and all the swearing waking him and leaving him looking at the desk where he knew there had been books he was looking at and looking over his shoulder in the direction of the noise, he stood up and drew his revolver he moved carefully his off hand resting on the hilt of his dagger as he stepped forward down the isles towards the noise, before long he caught sight of a shirtless man? He lowered his revolver and just stood there looking at him his back was to him but even so it wasn’t hard for him to notice how muscular he was, raising an eyebrow he couldn’t help but find his appearance to be quite unusual the floor had a tie died shirt his pants were in poor disrepair and the only thing that made any sense from this was that he was armed, which told him he was potentially dangerous considering where they were positioned. Thumbing the hammer of his revolver he drew it back with a click as he brought it to bare not really taking any chances especially since there were to many books in here that could be invaluable research material, he could have been a scavenger trying to rob the place it was hard to say “hey now, who are you and what are you doing with those books?” Falmon stood there weapon ready to fire, he just hoped he didn’t have to use it since it was such a pain to take blood off of books and pages especially the really old ones, the pages just seemingly soak it up and refuse to let it go without smearing the ink on them.

Cain turned a glare on the male as he pressed his shirt to his bleeding chin, "I happen to be the LIBRARIAN here, you idiot! Don't even think of firing that thing in here! Do you know what gunpowder does to paper and bindings?!" he growled out, still managing to sound indignant, reprimanding, and pissed off at the same time.

He ignored the possibility of getting shot as he finished getting to his feet, "I was putting the books away when I fell. My job is to put the books away, inventory everything in this part of the castle, do research, and keep idiots like you from damaging anything in here!" he continued the reprimand as he approached him, clearly not worried about getting shot.

"Now if you'll excuse me, I need to get changed and get my chin treated. Touch anything but your own belongings, and I could have you banned or put under supervision!" he added as he started to head past the idiot.

"Who pulls a gun on someone in a library? Stupid stools.... At least the blood is only on me and the floor... Bloody idiot!" he grumbled as he headed for the door, clearly not in a good mood....

wait what?” As Falmon lowered his weapon he couldn’t quite understand what just happened was he yelling at him or the stool? Falmon just watched him leave the Library and the only thing he could think of was that he was pissed at everything all at once, the blood on the floor explained a lot of the commotion he heard. “strange fellow that one” was all Falmon said as he stepped over to the stool and just righted it before he walked to where he had tossed aside the shoes earlier thinking that perhaps he was the one who’d left them there on the shelf and returned to the stool and placed them on the top step. Shaking his head, he walked down the isle and returned to the desk and sat down for a moment to collect his notes, and returning them to the cylinder and sat down, he wasn’t about to leave though, he had work to do and wasn’t about to let someone like him deter him.

As Falmon sat there he couldn’t help but be reminded of the man’s appearance though more precisely his muscles, he’d seen a fair few men in his time but no one had as nice a form as he did, grinning he leaned back slightly in the chair sighing slightly as he wondered who he was, no one had bothered to tell him that there was someone attending this library, perhaps there was a reason for that or simply they didn’t care. Either way his interest had peaked and he wanted to see where that interest would go, after all if he was indeed the Librarian it would make his job a lot easier to identify the correct text he needed for his own research.

Cain returned a little while later, with a healed chin and a fresh shirt. This shirt seemed to suit him much better: Renaissance style with the throat ties loose, light tan in color that suited his mismatched eyes much better, and a wide leather belt at his waist. Where his blade was, would be interesting to find out...

His hair was wet and pulled back in a ponytail at the base of his head, the wetness revealing that his hair actually fell just past his waist. He instantly moved back to where he'd fallen and frowned at the righted stool and the shoes there. He guessed it had to have been the other man he'd seen, but it could easily have been one of the servants.

He simply put his shoes on and moved back to shelving books. That didn't take him long, though, and he moved on to his next task: the scrolls... They filled up the back wall of the library, all protected from damage by carefully laid spells done by Sebastet. She didn't do spells often, but they'd both agreed on these...

He pulled three scrolls and headed for the central tables, fairly surprised to find the 'idiot' still here. He frowned over his presence, but just shook his head and got to work.

He laid the scrolls out side by side and pulled a small notebook and pencil from a pouch on his belt then started making notes. In the light of the fixtures that were spread over the tables, it was easy to observe Cain's features and focus. He was of dark norse descent, but carried the leaner build rather than the bulky muscle mass the vikings were known for. In truth, among the norse villages, Cain was on the handsome side of common.

It was his love of books and learning that had gotten him noticed by the vampire that protected his village, something he'd never regretted. Right now, he was entirely focused on his task of comparing the three scrolls laid out for him, making notes and whispering to himself here and there.

.......

Until he walked sideways into a chair and fell across it to the floor with a surprised, "Ooff!" proving, yet again, that he was a klutz in the library...

Sighing Falmon stood up and walked over standing over him and offered a hand “need a hand, my man?” a grin on his face as he took his hand and got him back on his feet. “in all my years as a scholar, never have I met one such as yourself be so lost in thought you forget where you are standing” Flamon caught his scent, wasn’t what he was used to but something told him he wasn’t just a normal librarian, possibly a shifter or a vampire, either way he’d released his hand and snapped his finger lighting the lamp on his belt, his lamp was special in that it could be lit with the use of magic but it only really felt warm to the touch, which in his line of work meant he didn’t have to worry about important research notes being destroyed by a fire as a result of them being too close to the lamp. Looking at him and noted that he had the shoes on which his assumption was correct, he eyes narrowed as he looked at the man very sternly “ah so you are the one who was using the shelves as a place to store your shoes, I’ve got a bone to pick with you my man” pointing at the shoes and then the shelves “those do NOT belong on a book shelf, had those books been damaged as a result of those being shoved into their place you can be sure I’d boot you out of this library and put a hole in you if you tried walking back into here, and another thing what kind of a librarian puts books in the wrong place, you know I found twenty books that weren’t even cataloged properly, I wasted more time returning books to their homes than I did trying to work on the research I came here to do” His eyes had changed color slightly, he was pissed that he’d been chewed out for something so petty and yet a man claiming to be a librarian hadn’t even done his job right. Shaking his head, he stepped over to the desk and continued “and where are the books I had on the desk they were critical research material I needed for my own research, tell me you at least put them back in their right places?” he was getting fired up and if anything it showed he was a wolf with a temper when he felt a injustice against books had been committed, but that was how he was he hadn’t come all this way as a travelling scholar just to clean up someone else’s mess.
