Retreating back and away from Riley to try and put a bit of distance between them, Shun found Mitsu struggling to her feet. Grimacing, he made his way over and tried to pull her up.

"Come on.. staying down probably won't be good.." he said quietly to her before catching a flicker of movement heading towards the giant form. Sammy was trying to sacrifice herself again. He didn't try to stop her. If she was foolish enough to try that again, that was her own decision.

Things just kept getting crazier and crazier. More students were arriving, some via the portal and others reforming out of fear, having just dissipated from jack knew where. He still had a grip on Yin's upper arm but he knew he would have to release it for the other boil to be able to attack again, though it was tempting to hold him back.

And then the fog billowed over them, thicker and more painful then ever. It hurt so much, and he could feel yet more of his energy seeping away. His arm dropped to his side, releasing Yin, and he felt like he could drop to his knees.

He expected Yin to go, to try and find the giant, insane ghoul and fight. But he didn't. He stayed, and he threw a rock in the general area of the ghoul. That was a splendid idea. So, with a weary nod, Alex also bent to retrieve a rock, then tossed it somewhere near where Yin had tossed his.

How the hell had he completely missed such a large target??

Mitzi followed after him, because if she didn't, she'd be completely lost in the fog. She had no clue how she'd find her ghouls again like she'd promised. Besides, Roch hadn't given her any sort of useful answer. "The portal brought us here, and she's blocking the way out. Roch, what did this? What's going on? And is there anything we can do to help?"

Reiko growled. "It is in the way. I want the Hunters, and it is in the way." If it weren't for the cursed fog, blinding her, keeping her from getting at her target, she would have been pounding away, and jack what anyone else thought. There was one other concern, though. Mitzi had gone off to find...someone, and had yet to return. Concern for her friend was tempering her bloodlust. For now. "But this fog...we should wait for Mitzi to return, at least." She glanced over at Imryn. "That light on your tail...do you think it will help guide her?"

"I don't know," he said with frustration. "She's the one that was THERE for me when I was tryin' to figure out what love was--She's the one that gave me my karaoke booth--she's the one that--"

He looked as if he was going to cry. "This just ain't fair. It's bad enough when we gotta fight for our lives against hunters. But fightin' against one of our leaders? Our class president? Our PROM KING? She was gonna talk to the music teacher for me, Mitzi. She was gonna stand up for a jackin' punk like me. And she--she isn't there no more."

He looked up at Riley. "I wish she was."

"No she didn't." Shehk replied flatly, frowning at Sammy. It wasn't a denial of the truth either. However, exactly what she meant by that went unsaid.

However, as Sammy moved to sacrifice herself again to Riley, Shehk turned away from her. Just like Sammy had turned away from Shehk when it was her trying to save Red. Shehk was not ready to attack Riley, but she was not going to sacrifice herself to Riley either. That was not the right solution.

She didn't know if Riley would be able to handle the truth of having devoured classmates to go on living (perhaps), but she also knew if Riley devoured everybody and that didn't work? She had to be able to go back to Amityville and tell Jericho. It would have to be her. She would shoulder the failure if it came to that. Even though she knew that....

Shehk clutched her chest and took a deep breath forcing the thought away before turning back to face Riley. Failure or success, they needed to know. "Maybe we need to tire her out before we try anything. If she's attacking us it makes anything we do that much more desperate...."

They knew that Insanity ate FEAR, though. And Sammy was just trying to get herself killed over and over and over again to give it to Riley, but...could Riley even hold onto Sammy's FEAR? Shehk couldn't eat other people (Er, well..outside of the whole 'Hi Jericho, your blood r really hot, ow, my mouth' incident), so was that just a waste of Riley's time?

Where was Cricket when she needed her? She needed to slap a protection charm on Riley or something. (Oh god, this line)

"I want to help get the rest of the Hunters out of here too... but would rather not get myself dissipated over and over again, since whoever this used to be has us trapped in here." Imryn replied. She could sympathize with the other ghoul some. The Hunters needed to be taken care of, but right now, this was a little more important, at least in her mind anyways. If this could spread... they could all be in danger. However, finding Mitzi, or at least helping to lead her back over this way eventually was a good idea. Strength in numbers and all that.

"Hmm? My tail? Well... it might work. The fog might be too thick for her to see it, but it's better than nothing." With that, Imryn swung the end of her tail up about shoulder high and kept it there, swinging the glow stick at the end back and forth a bit. "Well, here's to hoping that she sees it..."

When Shun came to help her up Mitsu clung to him to stay on her feet. "I..I can't use my FEAR..." Mitsu muttered, looking distressed.

She leaned against Shun heavily as her form began to sway. The fact that Sammy was marching her way back over to Riley hadn't escaped the lycan but like Shun she thought it was a foolhardy move. No good was going to come from sacrificing themselves, it would only use up the FEAR they had left and give them nothing to respawn with. And what if it didn't help Riley but only made the problem worse?

The whispering voices escalated into a cacophany, and Aymet was burned out of existence again by the rapidly expanding fog.

When he came to again, everyone was gone. Lost in the mist. Only the crazed voices could be heard. If there were other students around, he wouldn't have been able to tell the difference - the voices were coming from all around, interspersed with faint chiming. He had no breath but the fog found its way into his bones and burned faintly all over.

He reached blindly out but felt nothing but empty air.

As Roch tried to explain, and started to break down on her, she felt a weight settling in her chest. She didn't know what to say, what to do, how she could help. And it was getting harder to ignore the voices in the fog, and Roch was the one she'd leaned on when she was hurting, what was she supposed to do when he was the one falling apart?

Not sure what else she could do, she took the last few steps over to him and slipped her arm around his waist, sliding in under his arm to give him a tight hug. She opened her mouth, but couldn't think of anything to say that might help, instead giving up and just hoping she could be there for him, like he'd been there for her.

The voices were inside her.

Not her own Voices, the sibilant whispers that she generated of her own Fear, but the voices, the fog voices, the ones that laughed and whispered and mocked, always just out of comprehension, just barely too quiet. There was a laughing, murmuring, hateful crowd within her head.

Siddie buried her fingers in her hair, as though she were trying to hold her head together simply by the pressure of her fingers, and curled into a little dark ball.

The fog took over the entire room, leaving everyone blind for those terrifying few moments. The sound of impact on Riley's body was still heard, but the voices refused to be trumped, and the wailing began anew. The sounds of.. it wasn't clear who was asking for saving, but it wasn't Riley. Men, women, children, begging to be released from their cages. The voices in the fog were relentless with desperation.

Riley, however, was relentless with apathy. Even as some tried to offer themselves again, all she did was pull the fog back to herself, clearing the room. As it passed over the students, the burning sensation tickled their skin until the fog was finally focused, and thick, at her feet.

All the while, her eyes, twin gems of blue staring down hungrily, showed no recognition. No amount of pleas managed to reach her.

Effect: Riley is sucking the fog back into herself, though what this means for what's to come is unclear. Modifiers are back to -6.
The voices in the fog are now wails asking for release. The sound of wind chimes is faint, but still there.
Siddie still hears maddening voices in her head for the entirety of the turn!

This is a new round! GOOD LUCK SOLDIERS

Gone and back, gone and back. The yelling had more substance to it now. Voices of all ages, male, female, they wanted out, they wanted to be released-

He paused once more, in a mental struggle. Riley was the symbol of leadership - the student council president, knowledgeable and decisive, and now she was Insane, turning on them all. Things were breaking down. Students were attacking students. Arguing. Self-sacrificing without hope. Standing dumbstruck, as if waiting to wake up from a bad dream. Few of them seemed willing to make the difficult choices. Even he'd hesitated, because of who she was. Past tense.

But if they couldn't fight their enemies, they would lose everything. They would cease to exist, and so would Halloweentown. FEAR would die.

He had seen, in a trial, the broken world where Halloween fell to the Hunters.

He had seen, in a trance, the charred remains of the world that the Horsemen slaughtered to extinction.

And he had seen, with his own dead eyes, Amityville blasted in a shockwave of insanity, a Hunter ripping the wings off a reaper and getting his throat slit in turn, the room below them crawling with vines and mold and students and hunters locked in a struggle for survival and destruction.

"I understand now," he said aloud, to Riley, or at least to some of the many voices she now spoke with. Not that she was going to answer him. All paths, all stories, led to the same result - an ending.

The voices kept howling. Shun was right, they had to put this Riley out of her misery, whatever was left of her.

Aymet's FEAR built to a crescendo and he exploded, bones flying everywhere, the majority striking Riley's towering form.

"Which is why we need to take it out." Reiko growled. "I really do not feel like finding new and interesting ways to be dissipated." She said.

She gave a little nod as Imryn raised her tail, her eyes scanning the fog for any sign of either Mitzi or their opponent.

And then the glow was no longer necessary, because the fog was gone. Reiko cried out as it burned its way through her, but she could see, which meant she could attack. She darted in, raking her nails against the giant's leg. She wanted this thing down, so she could get to the real problem. She didn't know whoever this use to be, and if what she had heard was true, there was no way to save her. Better to free her and then get back to destroying Hunters.

Those voices, crying for release from their prison...they may have motivated her a little too. She felt no hatred for this former Halloweener. Only pity, and anger that she was being forced to fight what used to be one of their own.

Roch hugged Mitzi back for a second before pulling away again. "I'm sorry, Mitzi, but can we do the comfort thing when we're not on the battlefield?" And then the voices started again. It was like walking through the tunnel again, or going into the cave--or both at once. It was enough to drive him insane.

"No..." he muttered, reaching up as if to cover his ears. "No--JACKDAMMIT I SAID STOP!!" he bellowed loudly, bringing up his guitar and swinging, hitting her in the side again.
