Why is Marth wearing a mask?
He hides it in shame for failing his kingdom.
He's not really Marth, he's just claming to be him.
Hey, it worked for Camus, right?
  Because he's A GIRL
IS ROY IN THIS GAME TOO?
  This is a bad idea.

So... Lyn shouldn't be able to wield her Sol Katti if we get her as DLC. Do you hate Lyn or something? No. Lyn should be another Swordmaster.

Okay, I DO think the anti-Eirika bride stuff is starting to be a bit much now as well.

Looking at the FE series as a whole, the class is believable. Historically speaking, there are games where a male and female may have access to the same class, but with the difference being that the female has staves. Even for something like PALADIN in FE4. Staves have a history of being associated with the feminine in the series (count the number of characters that start out only using staves and see whether their are more men or women). For a re-imagining of Eirika in the series outside Magvel exclusively/application of "series mythology", I can totally buy her using staves. It really reminds me of the Princess class, frankly. And Eirika IS a princess. The thing is offensive for other reasons, but only in terms of gender equality.

As far as DLC characters reclassing to anything, I really think it's far too early to determine what is going to work best. Anything we say at this point is still theory. It won't be until long after the game has been out that best skill combinations for characters that can reclass to anything will be determined, or if there's a class to best abuse. Mechanics frequently make it so that there IS a class most easily abused you want as many of as possible (FE6 Swordmasters, FE8 Bishops, FE9 Paladins, etc...). Fire Emblem isn't Pokemon, after all. There's generally no inherent punishment for not having a large variety of unit types, necessarily. Will people stack as many +Crit skills as possible, or Slayer skills, or some obscure specific combination only possible for having access to every class? Is class changing even going to be very common? What if the seals are rare or overly expensive?

Perhaps my favorite thing about this game is the sheer level of possibilities. It's far higher than ever for an FE before now.

Myrmidon?

There have been DLC characters that come unpromoted. Myrmidon can go both ways.

Myrm is viable, but will feel like a serious let down for a reward- unless she get's Elty'd, her map is going to be 4/5 stars. 4s are downright brutal- as seen with Ephraim- and we have no idea just how godly hard a 5 is going to be. If Lyn gets a DLC chapter- her joining as a Myrmidon will seem extremely weak compared to the team you'll need to unlock her. She'll have to be promoted.
... Of course, outside of Demon Fighter and Bride, there may yet be another super class-- considering there's LvD2 to look at- and it may be "Swordfighter Family". Probably not though (If there's another super class, it's probably the return of the Master Knight.)
There's nothing left to lose..!

Wait, why exactly wouldn't she be able to use the sol katti? Assassins use sword and bows, which is what her promoted class used, so it's not a stretch if they wanted to put her as that class. Though, truth be told, she is a myrmidon/swordmaster lord. But I really don't want Lyn to be turned into Samurai Lyn, which is what FE13 seems to think swordmasters should look like. She has to keep her nomadic style. That's a core to her character.

And in other news, I'm agreeing with FD that the Anti-Eirika is getting to be a bit much. I think the class is stupid. I think the demon fighter class is stupid, too. I don't like them. But I think FD said it best in his post, so I'll leave it all be.

Let's also keep in mind that... it's DLC only. So. If you don't want it in you game, you don't have to get it.

Sol Katti requires "Sword Fighter Family", which is, as it stands Myrmidon and Swordmaster. Yes, Myrmidon can promote to assassin, but it's no longer part of the Sword Fighter Family.

It's possible another super class could be introduced that's part of said family, but that's not likely.

Another possibility is that she gets a skill to wield Amatsu and Sol Katti, but that's... a waste of a skill. >_>

Oh, I see. *looked at the sword section for the game, too*

Well lame. I guess I have to just prepare for Samurai Lyn... unless they make her myrmidon. I just... I just don't know if I can handle Lyn becoming a samurai...

Frankly, she doesn't NEED the Sol Katti (why the ******** does it have 50 crit, anyway), though. And they could always instead add a Mani Katti.

I personally want Myrmidon for her, IF she gets to become DLC (she's really not that special of a Lord overall), because Swordmaster and Assassin both represent her character well in different ways. Ephraim's chapter has been the hardest released thus far, but it's really the only one you get a character for that is that hard (and comes at Level 20 promoted, unlike most DLC characters). A good number of characters have relatively low difficulty ratings (and that's BEFORE you consider that localization might dumb it down). The lower the difficulty rating, the more likely it is the character is unpromoted (Roy and Micaiah for example).

The thing is, what lies ahead are 4/5-star chapters:
ST3 was 2 (ST1/2 are 1)
KvK3 is 3 (KvK1/2 are 2)
RvB1/2 are 3 (So, fair assumption RvB3 is 4)
LvD1 is 4 (LvD2 is probably 4, and LvD3 is probably 5)

Unless there's another set- we're looking at two more 4 Star Chapters and a 5. Ephraim's is a 4, and only slightly harder than IDW (another 4).

On a note:
FE:A Rage inducers that I think that are stupid:
Rage over Love Confession Scenes; Rage over Mastery Skill/Critical Cut-ins: What's wrong with Flashy?
Rage over S-rank supports being Male/Female Only: Not having a Gay Option is far from a bad thing. Gameplay means something as well.
Rage over Nono: Gameplay ALWAYS supercedes morality. Sure she's a 5 year old girl in personality and looks. Doesn't mean ANYTHING- it's a game.
Rage over Dark Micaiah: It actually makes sense when you look at it. And that outfit is... her tier 2 from RD anyway!
Rage over Sumia: Identical to the Colette debate from Tales of Symphonia... >_> Equally stupid.
Rage over Bride Class: "Don't knock it before you try it"- we know nothing about the class. (BTW: I hope the beloved and somewhat needed skill "Nihil" is the mastery of the Bride... therefore, in a way, forcing use of the class to not get slaughtered by the skill storms of 5-star maps (Or Nihil being the reward of a brutal skill storm 5-star map, so Nihil is completely useless at that point-- either's fine by me.))
Rage over the fact that it's not announced/no release date yet: E3 hasn't come and gone yet.
There's nothing left to lose..!

The thing about DLC, though, is that they aren't limited to what's been produced so far. I would anticipate another set. And then another. And then another. It makes money. The chances of getting Lyn in the current ones seems much smaller (you know they're going to do Ike) than her coming up eventually. If it does come with this set, it is what it is. But I really don't see Lyn as being top-desired material for something so dramatic as Light vs. Dark.

As for your rage inducers, I agree for the most part.

The only exception being the Male/Female S Support. Most of the children aren't required in this game at all, so allowing for pairings that don't produce them ought to be fine within the gameplay. Is it wise, necessarily? Not if it costs you potential units you'd use (and it wouldn't have to, depending on the pairing). Plus, it turns everyone into a bisexual, and I would have more of an issue with that, but the possibility of some same-sex S supports (alliteration not intended) would fit. And would be appreciated, with the series having headed that direction in the past, sometimes even blatantly like with FE10's Heather (plus I do maintain that Ike is pretty gay, at least heteroflexible, but that's another issue). It's hardly necessary, but it would have been nice to see SOME possible gay S Supports, though.

Not really worth raging over, however, I agree.

I thought My unit could have that relationship with "every" character. Doesn't that include characters of your My Unit's own sex? I can see how that would make Mark impossible, but still.. they said "every".

Also, @ Celice: Micaiah's outfit is noooot her tier 2 design. At all. It's FE13's dark mage design, incorporating Micaiah's tier 2 colors.

My Unit can have relationships with every character, but only according to whatever gender you make My Unit.

The Eirika bride thing? Cool your jets, people. They wanted to make a cute little item that made female characters into brides. It really doesn't hit me as anything different than when they give characters swimsuits and maid outfits to change their sprite on the battlefield.

Also, think of Eirika's character. She wasn't really SUPPOSED to be a fighter in the first place- for all that you people complain that she's obnoxious and super naive and not fit to make battle decisions in the first place. rolleyes She's a princess.

And I think it's adorable, so there. Also it's probably a pretty good marketing ploy for girls in Japan who play Dating Sims or something. I still say the worst character design travesty award goes to Micaiah.

...In fact someone should totally make me a link card with the new Eirika image because I think it's that freakin' cute.

I'd also like to add that the names of classes don't always seem to force characters into certain societal roles. Example: Artur and Natasha can get married even though they are members of the clergy according to their class names. So, using that logic, a Bride character wouldn't necessarily have to get married.

Just my 2 cents.
