Survival 101
Stealth training, at least, was fun. It was useful. Alifax liked useful.
Well, it wasn't as though having good stamina when it came to climbing or running was bad, and the sit-ups had been helpful too. He guessed. And he supposed knowing how to swim was helpful - not that he was really aware of how to do much more than barkbeast-paddling, at this point.
This was fun, though, even though it was mostly listening to lecture and very little practical experience. But Alifax had come prepared to listen.
[[Maybe TBC? Dx Sorry, this must be my shortest post so far.]]

Combat 101
Frossa's last lesson had gone quite well. She finally had the chance to do some real sparring, and hadn't managed to get her butt kicked! While the highblood had once again wasted a few days between classes doing nothing of note, she hadn't completely abandoned her studies. Frossa opted to attend one of seminars hosted by the blueblood weapon specialist that had previously given her some useful pointers. Today was a lazy sort of day.
The seminar was more interesting than Frossa anticipated, with more smashing of the brightly coloured test dummies. The adult blueblood demonstrated several different types of weapons that were both long and short range, which gave Frossa all sort of new sneaky ideas for attacks. She paid special attention when the militant picked up a rather hefty looking morning star, taking note of how the male used his below average stature to an advantage in his uppercut. Leaving the session buzzing with anticipation, all the highblood could think of was how tomorrow she would certainly dominate the sparring matches! #6432C7 xxxx xx

Survival
A break from the good old medicine class. She wanted to go back, try to learn some other useful skills, but instead she found herself being dragged off by Sir to some other class.
Survival 101. Alright, yeah, that was fine. She could deal with that! It sounded useful, and she could surely use some survival tips! Or well, she thought she could. Should? Either way, it would be a somewhat useful skill to obtain and learn more about. Even with Sir dragging her into such classes, she probably would of taken the course sooner or later anyway.
And here they were, the east wall was a looming object. Trolls scaled the cliff, others, while others practiced traversing in other methods. She furrowed her brow. OK, maybe this wasn't exactly what she thought it would turn out to be. Scaling walls was interesting enough, but would it really be useful? Maybe there would be some steep areas in the cave or dead ends with nothing but towering rock faces, but...
Something had caught her eye, though. Stealth training! She was very good at that; being quiet and sneaky and all that. Maybe this could be salvaged after all!
...And that is how she ended up here, right now. Under a cardboard box seemed like a very silly idea- and it was, really- but she knew just how serious this was! Now... they might not encounter any boxes in the cave, but there could be other situations! Rebels? Pff, she could totally hide using this. Small and compact enough, it was hardly noticeable.
Actually she thought herself quite proud of this ingenious feat. She was blended in with her surroundings perfectly! Boxes of supplies at the training course, she looked like another replica. No troll hiding under here, no sir-ee!
It was funny that there was an empty box though. OK, well, it wasn't entirely empty. Apparently used to carry spare parts, she had found an assortment of metal gears and the like inside. She took the objects and stowed them in another box though; they would cause too much noise!
And she patiently waits. Sir would never find her, nope. You've outdone yourself this time, Sarcel!

Survival 101
Although Sempur would never admit it [(because he never admits faults) because he has none], stealth was never his strong suit. That little fact should come as a surprise to no one after taking one look at the guy, marching about barking orders. Of course, in his mind, dragging Pathetic along to take stealth training was for her benefit. He didn't need it, he was a master. And when training was revealed to basically be a glorified game of hide-and-seek, Sempur was only to eager too be the seeker.
...And that is how he ended up here, right now. Covered in warpaint, crouched like a wildman with knife in hand, he crept about (actually crept) looking for any sign of Pathetic—the slightest twitch of her dumb hair, the quietest whimper, hell all he needed was just the slight, lingering stench of her fear and he'd be on her like a barkbeast, baying for her blood. Unfortunately, it was the slight jostling of the box that did her in.
He was on that cardboard in a flash, stabbing his trusty knife into it one, two, three times—oh the trollmanity it didn't stop. The way he saw it, even if it wasn't Pathetic (but really, who else would be childish enough to think this was a good idea?) he was doing them all a damn service. Boxes did not move! Boxes were not supposed to move! Whoever was in there did not know the first thing about stealth!
Sempur didn't even realize he had been yelling all of that, so caught up in attacking the cardboard box like it was a particularly disrespectful greenblood. No, he didn't pay mind to the fact that he was causing such a scene when this was supposed to be stealth training. He knew stealth! AND THIS WAS NOT STEALTHY, PATHETIC.

Medicine 101, take 4
Abrila stared at the table, looking at the vials on it with an expression almost bordering on glee. Medicines! And medicines were nothing but chemicals! Finally, something she actually knew about. That night she would be tested on her knowledge of common field supplies. This would be grubcake.
The instructor walked into the room with a clipboard and a snarl. Abrila stood at attention, as she had been taught.
"Identify these," he said, gesturing at the table, before pulling out a writing instrument and glowering at Abrila. And Abrila was quick to reply. Colour, smell, state, even taste... it didn't take her long to identify most of them. Only a few stumped her, so she made her best guesses and then stepped back from the table.
The instructor nodded and wrote her answers down, but he didn't seem pleased. Not at all. Uh oh, had she mixed up the alcohols? She fidgeted, waiting an uncomfortably long time for the instructor to reply.
"So... you think you're so smart, huh?" The instructor flashed her a venomous smile. "Now tell me which of these can be safely mixed."
Oh... oh gog. Immediately Abrila's confidence fled the tent like a terrified hoofbeast. She didn't know... she could think of a single answer. Her experiments at home never worked, so she hadn't the slightest clue. And the instructor seemed to be taking delight in her discomfort. Abrila mumbled something, then fled from the place as soon as the instructor let her go. Well, that could have gone better.

Survival 101
O.K., last time hadn't been all that great, but she was determined to better herself. Hopeful the soldier that had been chasing her wouldn't be here tonight. Peeking in Minist breathed a sigh of relief, she did not spy a familiar foreboding figure watching over the young trolls. Stepping into the training grounds she saw that tonight's exercise would be running through something like a parkour course. Their objective was to make it through the course without touching the ground. That didn't seem too bad. Doing a few stretches beforehand she took a running start and jumped up onto a ledge and made her way through the course.

Medicine 101
Navigation had been fairly interesting...she guessed...but nothing more eventful had happened in that class, so Cheese returned to the medicine tent to learn a little more about medicine. Today's class focused on natural remedies to common ailments one might need in the field when medical supplies were unavailable. Cheese hardly paid any attention, but she took note of which fungus and plants would help staunch blood flow from gaping wounds and reduce pain.

Survival 101 No, ******** that, she wasn't going to let her last experience in Survival training be that abysmal trainwreck of a run. She showed up for one more, dressed in her more casual clothing, only to be handed a bundle of fabric and get told to change. Swimming. Not exactly a strong point, but by God, she was going to make it one today. A quick change into the suit and a retying of her hair to secure back as much as possible, and she plunged into the underground pool--really seemed like lake would be a more accurate word to describe it but whatever. Wasn't anything too fancy; no learning different strokes, no underwater exercises, not even any speed-building, just repeated, steady swimming from one end to the other. Short breaks were allowed every 15 reps. Pyre took none, quickly surpassing all of the younger trolls who'd shown up that night, and soon outlasting even adults. Stopping was unacceptable. Lungs burning, muscles screaming, she kept going until the course was concluded. She slowly climbed out of the pool, muscles objecting to any movement at all. The supervising officer stared down at Pyre as the girl forced herself to her feet, panting. "Well done. I look forward to seeing the progress age brings--you will be rejoining as an adult, I trust?" The greenblood forced herself back into proper posture at being addressed by a militarian superior, and closed her mouth to stop the panting, still breathing rather heavily through her nose. She stood there, profusely trembling from exertion, for several seconds, not sure if she'd be able to force out the words without gasping for air again. "...Y-yes ma'am." The seadwelling woman very nearly smiled--not quite, that would be unprofessional, but the corners of her mouth lifted ever-so-slightly. The purpleblood nodded once. "At ease." Pyruet nodded back, posture not changing in the slightest, and began her walk back to her respiblock, not relaxing her stance until she was certain she was well out of sight of the soldier.

Medicine 101
It didn't seem hard to Nelgan, Medicine, that was. All it was is dressing wounds or... something, right? He eyed the practice medical kits that were lying around, and then his eye swung to the CPR dolly.
Oh.
Before Nelgan could back out of there as quick as he could, an instructor had pulled him down to the ground, and began enthusiastically explaining the exact number of compressions and the perfect way to shape your fist and blah blah blah... Nelgan zoned out until the instructor whacked him on the back and told Nelgan to give it a try. Alright, it couldn't be too bad. Nelgan smashed the dummy's heart a few times, then glanced back up at the instructor, who in turn was looking at Nelgan expectantly. Nelgan sucked up his pride (what pride? That's a good one) and pressed his lips to the plastic dummy. Pulling back up, Nelgan made a face, but the instructor prompted him again. "She's still dead" he said with that annoyingly cheerful voice, so Nelgan repeated the process obediently. After all, in the end, that's all he really had; his simple obedience.

Kid wakes up once again to find himself lying on a cot, this time he's got more than a limp that keeps him from moving around too much. That's not enough to keep him from reading though. Looks like someone from the practise labs last night remembered him and dropped off some helpful tomes for study.
The kid just whiles away the time, flipping page after page...

When no one warned her away from it, Hazzan went back to Navigation for seconds, because it was fun and easy and really, who was going to stop her?
So she did and it was awesome and she did cool things like learn how to read maps.

Medicine
...
Sitting in the medical tent was starting to become a familiar sight, it seemed. If not for the training, or Sempur's maiming, then for her own, er, 'consequences'.
The survival training wasn't meant to be a game, and while she knew Sir would probably blow it into unrealistic proportions, she honestly didn't see his actions coming. Now she knew. No doubt about it, if there were any doubts before (And there wasn't) that Sir was completely mad, it was all confirmed now.
At least she wasn't hurt too bad, but the grace of god. She heard his loud footsteps, tensed up and quiet, she accidentally had jostled the box she was hiding under and... got caught. Oh but, Sir couldn't just uncover the box oh no; the sight of the blade slicing through the roof of the box was enough to garner a yelp from the young blueblood, but even then she wasn't prepared for the literal rain of terror that unfolded next. Sir just tearing into the box like some kind of rabid dogbeast...
So there was that. She had her arm sliced open- a deep slice, but thankfully not detrimental to her health or well being, at least not so much as the actual act had done on her psyche. Getting her arm wrapped up, she remained quiet.
Yeah, this was going to be a very, very long stay at the underground base.

Medicine 101
Maihue really didn't want to go back to that tent, to that soldier, to all the things in there. She just wanted to do something else. But, BUT! She would not give up. No way. She just had to get the hang of this. She inhaled deeply, and walked into the tent.
When she walked in, she sat down towards the front. She didn't want that soldier to make her move forward again. That was so terrifying. Maihue stared at towards the front as she heard him approach. When he got to her, he stared at her for awhile. Maihue started to break into a sweat, and then he finally walked away. She wanted to breathe, but she was terrified that he would turn around and scream at her and make her move forward again. She stared towards the front till her whole face was green. Maihue finally saw the soldiers feet up front, and took small breaths. Ok, wonderful. She sat up straight and listened attentively.
"Let us begin with bones. We all have them, and they can break. So, let us begin on how to fix them." The soldier held up what appeared to be a... what, troll doll? W-wha... What is that? Maihue stared curiously towards the doll. The soldier broke the arm, and Maihue jumped. WHY IS THERE BONE IN A DOLL. She stared, wide eyed, at the soldier. He placed the doll down, and begin to fix it. "Now, pick up your dolls and do as I do." Maihue stared at the corner of the table where the doll was. When did that get there.. She grabbed the doll, and bent its arm. She winced as she heard it snap. Oh boy. She didn't want to harm this doll. No, wait. It isn't living... Maihue gulped, and continued on watching as the soldier fixed the dolls arm. Medicine sure was weird...
