Suddenly the mechanism on the table seemed like a far-away thought. Even though he had been tinkering with the damn thing only moments before, the entire possibility and legitimacy of its existence seemed so trivial now. Sitting in the chair, wishing he had stood up when the highblood had strode into the room, he tried to keep the bubbling anxiety down.
The tap on the nose almost sent him off, but he gritted his teeth and dealt with it while he listened to the indigoblood's voice. 9 fingers thrumming on the arm rests, his facade was nearly dispelled-- it was painfully obvious now how uncomfortable he was, how much he just wanted to distance himself. The thought of touch made his skin crawl, a dreadful feeling, really, and the itch was nearly unbearable.
But despite his best attempts, he lets out a thankful sigh when Ophion moseys away, even if the moment is brief. He doesn't turn around to face him, listening still, but forever self conscious of the snake-slit eyes riveting into his back. It was more bearable, of course, and it was enough to lull him into a false sense of brief security.
...As the indigoblood goes on, however, he realizes the idea is a very tempting one. Genomes and genetics wasn't his forte (Oh, who was he kidding? Of course it was, as everything else pertaining to science), and mapping one-- the blueprint-- would be a challenge in itself... a challenge with very tempting rewards, as he would find out momentarily.
There's a slight shift in the weight distributions, the slight tug on the back of his chair being the culprit, when he suddenly feels the b*****d so ******** close and, if not for the fact his throat was clenched, he might of screamed then. Rather that, keeping his composure (Well, not entirely), he bolts up from the chair, jerking around with a rapid motion, pupils and eyes wide and agonizing, but mostly filled with relief now.
"R-Right, ah yes, w-well..." stumbling a slew of messy erratic words out, trying to just put some sort of input in, trying so hard to regain his cool calm collected composure-- the one with the deep frown, judging eyes-- not the wide eyed awkward mess he was now! No, he had to keep talking, despite the obvious shuffle of his boots on the ground, "Ahem-- yes, well. That does sound like a... promising prospect indeed."
Yes this was going smoothly now! Everything was much better-- nothing awkward happened at all! He was perfectly sensible right now, no fidgets, stance ridged again with that haughty aura, "Very promising, actually, I can't help but find myself... interested...", the last word is drawn out, somewhat trailing off...
Yes, he was very interested in the the whole scheme of this. Whether or not the highblood was trying to goad him (He had half a mind to believe he was) he didn't appreciate his... well, creepy way of disrespecting personal boundaries and the like. Getting around that, however...
...But what exactly was he getting at? Sure, the greenblood had asked him, but... for what reason did this highblood desire a personal army? Questions questions... Well, Muerte was one to interrogate, but not after being so perturbed.

There was smug look of satisfaction drawn all over Ophion’s face as he finally managed to rattle the greenblood enough to get him to bolt right up out of his chair. He wasn’t quite sure why, but something in his bones simply ached to get Muerte agitated, to get him scared. Perhaps it was the striking resemblances to avifauna that he exhibited? The proud puff of his chest when he spoke, the confident strut, the keen, hawk-like gaze…how could he, having been raised by a hooded slitherbeast, not help but feel just a bit predatory? The highblood simply drank up that fearful, wide-eyed gaze, taking it in like a cool, fresh stream of water as his own serpentine look remained solidly locked on him.
But alas, the look didn’t last for long; though Ophion did get some amusement out of his nervous stuttering and shuffling. The highblood crossed his arms, still as smug as ever. “Go on,” he said softly through smirking lips, knowing full well that behind those glasses laid some lingering questions.
