"Fausus huh? Well Dratini are comfortable in water so that's good. He really doesn't have that killer instinct though, does he?" Crenu said as he thought back to a little while ago when he saw the dragon hiding under a bench while the other pokemon were rearing to train. But then again, Froslass didn't really have the killer instinct either, he wondered how she would fair in a gym battle someday. There was really only one way to find out. But regardless of the temperament of his and her pokemon, she had her strategy planned out it seemed and that was good. Going to the store was a good idea as well, his pokemon could use another move or two, checking the TMs would be good for both trainers. He eyed her as she mentioned getting some vitamins into his system, and while his initial thought was unpleasant, he nodded. "hmm, couldn't hurt." She was worried about him, and cared about his health especially now that she new about his problems. He was going to have to get used to it, having someone else looking out for your best interest was a new concept to him. And it was....kinda nice. He recalled his pokemon and joined Riza once he cleared his pokemons dishes. On their way our he grabbed several fruits, quietly eating one after the other as they walked to their destination. It seemed he'd gotten a bit of his appetite back and the pain radiating from his hands and arm lessened. For now the voices in his head fell silent, and he wasn't firing random thoughts or making several possible plans for the next few weeks and the scenarios that could play out sprouting from every move he made now. His mind wasn't blank, but it was at ease. The noise like the low hum of a car motor in neutral, easily ignored and forgotten sometimes instead of the revving engine that it normally was. And while it made him feel unprepared, he honestly didn't give it a second thought and just enjoyed his walk with the raven haired girl. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ "Hello, how are you? Good morning. Nice day isn't it? Oh my such an adorable Glameow!" Ken was spurting greeting after greeting to every passing townsfolk he saw as he walked through Sandgem early in the morning, not many people were out just a few older folk walking about, some people hanging out clothes and pokemon accompanying most of them. Such a peaceful day, a quiet town that one could just melt into the background of and find themselves settled down before they knew it. Ah! But Ken wasn't here to join the peaceful village life! He clapped his hands on his cheeks to focus on why he was here. Jaeshan, dear sweet strong kind Jaeshan, his new and good friend who went missing at sea! Such a tragedy! Oh the horror of it all, it made Ken feel like fainting, and he did so dramatically there mid road while people watched. Ah, but this wasn't the time to be dramatic, no matter how marvelous of a performance it was! This was not the stage this was real life. Ah, but life is a stage! No no no not now. Ken got back up to his feet and clapped his hands on his cheeks twice, shaking the dramatics out of himself as he hurried on to Rowans lab. It was the biggest building in the whole town and for good reason, lots of important research happened there and ken had to admit after asking about Jae he kinda wanted to poke around and see what the professor was studying lately. Curiosity aside Jae came first, and as he approached the lab Ken placed his hands on the door, inhaling deeply just before he swung the doors open. "Yoooooohoooo, Professor Rooooowaaaaan~!" He sang out loudly as he entered the lab, looking around eagerly for the stern older man, if Jae had indeed been through here he was sure to have heard something.

Nice move, Nova, Kasiya thought, realizing she shouldn't be surprised. She was clever, like her brother, and it seemed right that she shared his intelligence and talent for battle. Alphonse, on the other hand, was still in need of guidance so she pointed at the Cyndaquil, which remained idle as Steve had yet to give the Fire Mouse a command. "Alphonse! Water Pulse!" Kasiya called. Alphonse nodded and stepped forward. He put his flippers together and created a ball of water, but instead of hurling it forward, instead he sent it flying upwards. It exploded in a shower of water droplets that rained down around them, thoroughly dampening everything. "That was Water Sport," Kasiya grumbled, but it would be useful, at least, in toning down the damage from the two opposing Fire-types. Nova had shot a rather fearsome glare at her team mate as the water hissed against her tail, also aware that her Fire-type abilities would be weakened. The Combusken had covered its head with its massive, clawed hands and the Cyndaquil ran in a small circle, squeaking in fear. Kasiya felt bad for the young thing, a distant memory of a newly-hatched Felsic floating through her mind as Steve called for it to use Quick Attack.
The pores on the Fire Mouse's back gave off a tuft of flames as it regained its composure and shot forward, a navy and tan blur as it darted toward Alphonse. The Piplup could do nothing but flail his flippers helplessly before the Cyndaquil slammed into him, sending the two of them rolling across the ground rather comically. When they came to a stop, Alphonse was the first to recover and he jumped up, holding out his flipper as he brought it down heavily on the small Fire-type's head. It gave a cry of pain and backed away, shaking its head. Kasiya couldn't help but smile to herself; perhaps Alphonse was a little more clever than she had been giving him credit for. Meanwhile, Combusken had dashed forward and slashed at Nova with his claws, leaving a few painful gashes on her side. The Charmeleon gave a roar of anger and retaliated with a Scratch attack of her own, and suddenly Kasiya found herself wondering if she would have to give any commands at all. She was also surprised to see that the Tropius was still there, and she silently hoped that it was more out of fear than injury.
"This is stupid! Come on, you useless Pokemon, take out that Charmeleon with your Double Kick!" Ralph shouted, having pulled down the hood of his Team Magma cloak. Combusken gave another sharp cry and ran forward, keeping its center of gravity low before it swept out one of its legs for a kick. Nova jumped the first leg, but the second came around fast, catching her on the side of her head and knocking her to the ground. The Charmeleon thrust her head forward, expelling a relatively weak burst of flame at the Fighting-type but it jumped back out of reach, causing Nova to growl in anger. The two smaller Pokemon, meanwhile, continued to battle each other in their own little world. The Cyndaquil seemed to become less timid as more time went by, the flames on its back now burning brightly as it avoided a spray of Bubbles from the Piplup. It was hard to say who had the advantage at this point, but even if things turned bad for her two youngest Pokemon, she still had four others in reserve, and she was certain they'd be more than a match for the two boys.

"No, I wouldn't say he has a 'killer instinct,' not at all," Riza laughed, also picturing the Dratini hiding under the bench. Or rather, just his head, as he was rather long in size (almost six feet) and he wasn't exactly tiny. "His moves are coming along nicely, though. It'll be interesting to see how well he performs in a real battle." Though it was a little difficult, she kept her mouth shut as Shiro took a bunch of fruit as they headed out of the pokecenter, quietly eating them as they went along. She didn't know for sure if it would help, but whenever she'd been sick as a little girl, her parents always made sure she had lots of fresh fruit to eat, and it always made her feel better. Instead of saying anything, she just smiled at him, though a little bit surprised that he'd taken her advice. Normally he'd just shrug her off.
All the places of interest in Cerulean seemed to be in the one general area, from the contest hall to the pokecenter to the mart and even the gym, which was right across the street from the center. The mart was a little ways down the street but not that much out of their way, and Riza had a bit of a skip in her step as she walked. She remembered the first time she'd bought a TM, back in Lilycove. Yula, at the time still unnamed and still a Ralts had chosen it, and it had nearly bankrupted her. This time she had a lot more money on hand, thanks to her win over Lt. Surge and the contest. The mart was like the center, not very busy as the two trainers entered, and Riza made her way over to the TM section, which she quickly noticed was not as expansive as the one in Lilycove. She also noticed that that same Thunderbolt TM she coveted to teach Faustus wasn't here. 'I guess if it's a water-type gym, they wouldn't stock electric-type TMs at the store,' she thought with a frown. She did find Flamethrower and Ice Beam TMs, however, and even though they weren't the ones she wanted first, she figured they'd do for now. The Dratini would make good use of both of them. She did feel bad that Eris and Plua didn't have any TMs yet, but Eris had her Extrasensory and Plua had Fly, and she felt it a waste to use the Flamethrower TM on the Quilava when she had Flame Wheel. 'I'll focus on those two next time,' she thought, silently hoping they wouldn't hold it against her as she took her purchases to the cashier, wondering how long Shiro would be. As soon as she paid for them, reducing her cash on hand by two thirds, she headed outside and released the Dratini, not hesitating for a second to teach him the two moves. Faustus didn't seem to know what to make of the fire and ice techniques he'd just learned, but for some reason he felt stronger, and he nuzzled Riza's hand with his head, cooing.

Kasiya was pretty sure the battle between the Cyndaquil and the Piplup couldn't even really be called a battle, as they would occasionally dance around each other, lunge and flail their flippers/paws at one another, separate, and do it all again. She'd long since given up on trying to give the stubborn Alphonse orders, as he just ignored her anyway, and finally she watched as the Cyndaquil executed a Tackle on its trainer's command and bowled the Penguin over one last time. Alphonse struggled to get up but couldn't, and Kasiya quickly recalled him into his Pokeball, trying to decide what she should do. Nova had blasted the Combusken with a point-blank Dragon Rage and the Fighting-type was looking ready to collapse. It rushed in for a Scratch attack, and for a moment it looked like it would hit until Nova sidestepped at the last moment, pivoted and brought it down with a single slap from her powerful tail. It was quickly recalled by its trainer as well, and the Charmeleon snorted and then set her sights on the Cyndaquil. As soon as the Fire Mouse saw its new opponent, it decided to choose flight over fight and ran and hid behind Steve's leg, shaking with fright. Nova let out a puff of smoke and scoffed, figuring that if the mouse was too afraid to battle her, it wouldn't be worth her time. Steve agreed with his Pokemon and recalled it, giving his partner a nervous glance. Kasiya had assumed they'd each only had one Pokemon, and it appeared she was right - either that, or they were hesitant to send out anything else. "Are we quite finished yet?" she asked, placing her hands on her hips. Ralph sneered at her one more time before nudging Steve, and the two took off, disappearing into the tall grass. Kasiya didn't relax until she could no longer hear their voices, and she sighed, looking over at the Tropius, which hadn't moved in the slightest, and was watching the girl with wide eyes.
"It's okay, they're gone now," she said gently, taking a cautious step forward. "You're safe now, I promise." Nova's eyes narrowed as the large, leafy Pokemon shifted its weight, still staring at the two of them. It was hard not to see the gashes and bruises on its dark skin, and Kasiya resisted the urge to rush over and try to comfort the young Pokemon. Her heard ached from how those two ex-Magmas had treated it, and she fought the urge to scream out in rage due to their idiocy. "You're hurt," she went on, trying to keep her voice gentle. She knelt down, setting her backpack down, and she removed one of the small bottles from inside. "I have some medicine here, it should help your wounds to heal." She stood up, but in her eagerness to help the injured Tropius, she forgot to move slowly, and with a cry the startled Grass and Flying-type beat its leafy wings, sending several large and very sharp-looking Razor Leaves flying towards her. Nova's senses were keen and she quickly jumped and tackled her trainer to the ground, the leaves missing the two of them by mere inches. Nova quickly hopped to her feet, ready to burn the leafy Pokemon to a crisp, but she stopped when she heard Kasiya's voice. "No, Nova! Don't! It's all right, this poor thing's just hurt and scared, that's all. It's just trying to protect itself." Realizing that a trigger-happy Charmeleon probably wasn't the best Pokemon to have out with her at the time, she recalled the fire lizard, wondering if she had any other Pokemon that would be more helpful.
"Of course!" she said, snapping her fingers. The Tropius twitched, but managed to hold off attacking this time around, and she watched as the human released another Pokemon, this one much bigger than the little flaming dragon had been. Rosemary flexed her antennae and shook herself out, glad to be out in the sunshine again, and she cooed happily and nuzzled Kasiya with her large head. "It's nice to see you, too," Kasiya giggled, patting the happy Meganium. "Rosemary, there's someone I'd like you to meet…"

Crenu finished of the last of his breakfast, tossing the cores and peels into a trash bin along their way, he was feeling better now that he was full and it was actually a pretty nice day out. It was only natural for it to be hot this time of year, and while Crenu preferred cooler temperatures this wasn't so bad. He wasn't sure what TMs to buy if any, the last one he'd purchased was for Froslass and she was making good use of it, he had a good amount of money saved up now from his recent gym victories so he'd be able to afford a good one or two. Though considering that they were in Cerulean and not a department store the selection might have been a bit limited and he wasn't sure just what who needed a new move. Fearows moves were somewhat limited, but he made good use of the ones he had there really wasn't need for anything new there. The same could be said about Pupitar, and a good bulk of the powerful moves he could utilize wouldn't come until he evolved, which was still a long way ahead. Ariados, well she'd already gotten a TM and Crenu wasn't very happy with her right now so that was the end of that. Swinub was left, and he was pretty sturdy as it was too. Now that Crenu thought about it, Swinub was getting pretty strong for his little frame, and he was starting to wonder when the little guy was going to evolve. He put that out of his mind for now as they entered the store, and while Riza was browsing for her TMs he looked for some of his own. There really weren't many he wanted or needed, but as he thought about the Swinub he thought about the various uses a hardy pokemon like that could use, and that's when the two TMs caught his eye. Reflect and Lightscreen, both could be used by him and weren't terribly expensive. Given those moves Swinub could handle a variety of attacks better than he already could, and once he did evolve he could hit like a tank and take damage like one as well. Taking both TMs to the counter he paid for them, Riza already having left the store with her own purchase. Even after that purchase Crenu still had an ok amount of money left just in case, and once they were outside he immediately called out Swinub. The two moves taught and the TMs broken, Swinub looked at Crenu curiously as new knowledge filled his mind. He'd never learned via a TM before and while strange he knew that Crenu had given him a nice gift, and the little pig snorted happily as he poked at Crenu's feet with his snout. Watching this admittedly cute display Crenu smiled a little before he shook the display of emotion from his face and recalled Swinub to his ball. Even though he was on his way to watch Riza challenge the Cerulean gym, he started to wonder about weather he would challenge the gym himself or let this one go. Challenging this gym seemed ok, but the more he thought about it the more it pressed him to go back to Surge, the last victory wasn't satisfying to him at all. "Shall we go? We wanna get there before anyone else shows up to challenge the gym."

Rosemary listened with rapt attention as Kasiya explained the situation with the injured Tropius, and once she understood, the Meganium slowly made her way towards her fellow Grass-type, a rich, soothing scent wafting from the lovely flower petals around her neck. Tropius seemed to like the scent, but it still watched carefully as Rosemary drew near, gently craning her neck in a polite greeting. The two Grass-types exchanged a few words, and after a few moments, Tropius seemed to understand. Rosemary nodded at Kasiya and she approached slowly, holding out her hands, and the potion vial for Tropius to sniff. She then watched nervously as Kasiya surveyed her wounds, choosing the ones that looked the worst before spraying the healing medicine on them. She always felt bad when applying a potion, as it must have stung a lot, but before long the wounds had begun to heal and they looked much better than they had only minutes ago. Even better, Tropius felt well enough to stand, and she did so, now looking somewhat grateful, and maybe even a little happy.
Kasiya figured it was because of Rosemary; the Meganium was so sweet and kind that it was hard not to feel safe and relaxed when she was near. As glad as she was that Tropius was feeling better, she knew she should probably be making her way back to Fortree (again) to get treatment for poor Alphonse. It just didn't seem to be the Piplup's day. "I'm glad you're okay now, Tropius," Kasiya said, smiling at the Grass and Flying-type. "But we should probably get going. Just be careful from now on, okay? Not all people are bad like those two guys were, but you still have to watch out."
Rosemary's antennae drooped a little and she nuzzled Tropius before making her way back over to Kasiya. Tropius watched them both curiously, the leaves on her back fluttering occasionally. It wasn't until Kasiya recalled the Meganium into her Pokeball and started to walk back into the tall grass did Tropius call out to her. Kasiya turned to look, and the largish Pokemon was coming towards her, albeit somewhat timidly. "Don't worry, we'll be okay," Kasiya told the Pokemon, but then she realized that Tropius probably enjoyed Rosemary's company. An idea hit her just then, and she smiled at the Pokemon. "You're still not fully healed yet, so how about you come with us to the Pokemon Center? There's a really nice lady there and she'll make sure you're one-hundred percent better!" Tropius seemed to ponder the idea a moment and nodded, though it was hesitant to come forward. It cooed at her, shakings its leafy wings. "Oh, right, of course!" Giggling, Kasiya released Rosemary again, and side by side the two Pokemon walked just behind Kasiya as they made their way back into the tall, tall grass.

"We'll see." Maxie said, easily maintaining his calm. "Camerupt, Rock Slide."
"Vesuvius, Withdraw!" Mike shouted, digging into his pocket and throwing out another Pokeball. The camel stomped a heavy hoof into the ground, causing the room to shake once again. The ceiling above the Torkoal began to crack. Vesivius quickly retreated into his shell just as the rocks came crashing down onto him. The Camerupt looked pleased with itself, not noticing the dark blue blur that was heading straight for it.
"Bakfah!" howled Felsic as he charged into the camel and send a glowing white fist crashing into its side. After connecting with his attack, the Typhlosion grasped the Camerupt's underside and with a loud grunt, flipped it on its side, the Camerupt too shaken by the surprise attack to do anything but fall over.
"Interesting." was all that Maxie could say at the sudden turn of events. "And very impressive. Such underhanded tactics in a duel among men." The Magma leader released a Crobat, which swooped down to cover the Camerupt as it struggled to stand. There was the sound of shifting stones as an equally beaten Vesuvius emerged from the pile of stones, his hard shell having protected him. Felsic ran to the side of his ally, lifting up onto his hind legs and flaring up his fiery mane in defiance.
"There is no honor in a monster like you." Mike said, clenching his fist. "I wasn't about to wait around to let you catch me off guard." At this, Maxie only smiled. "What?" asked the boy, irritated.
"Fight not monsters, lest ye become a monster." the Magma Leader said with a confident grin. Mike felt a twinge of excitement crawl up his spine, and couldn't help but smile back.
"Ha-ha." he chuckled. "You haven't seen anything yet. Felsic, Vesuvius, Flamethrower!"
------
Oh I assure you. Milo said, unflinching as Keegan's fist passed through his face. The love of the palm tree there is strictly his. I hold no particular affection for the girl. He said with an echoed laugh. Though I won't deny she is a sight to look at. It's probably why you fancy her so much. The shadow moved over to the red-head's side and looked right into his eyes and whispered: Isn't love just grand?
Titanium was ready for the Electivire this time, and hardened his shell in anticipation of the attack. The strike caused his metallic frame to crack, and the Steelix roared in pain, but was not down for the count yet. Seeing an opening, Portabello planted his feet and charged forward at blinding speed, rearing back his claw. The Breloom hopped into the air, landing right beside Cable.
I'm so sorry, Cable. said the Breloom before unleashing all of his power into a Sky Uppercut. When he landed, Portabello barely had time to dodge another Flamethrower from Sasha's Ninetales.
Oh he'll be so mad at me for this, Milo said, his voice bouncing in excitement. But I just can't hold it in any longer! It will be so invigorating to see your faces! The shadow looked around as if to see if everyone was listening. ]You overestimate your friend's strength. You all do! The real reason why Mike came here wasn't to bring down Team Magma. That will happen, of course. I mean, most organizations fall when you kill their leader! Milo couldn't hold it in any longer and let out a loud fit of laughter. That's right! He's here to kill Maxie! Ha-hahaha! You see, Kilik. Mike may shut up, but never in here. Never! The shade pointed a sharp finger to his head. And I hear it all. I help out sometimes, too. He's doing exactly what I want, and so are you! So by all means, take your time. I'm sure Mike will appreciate it! Steelix, Earthquake!
Proton floated higher into the air as Portabello and Xanthos crossed their arms over their bodies, generating a green, protective barrier. With a mighty roar, Titanium slammed his tail onto the ground, causing the entire cavern to shake with a deafening crash. The rumbling earth combined with Milo's laughter was nothing short of cacophonous. Sasha tried to keep her balance as the ground beneath her shook, looking over at Winona, who was still whimpering on the ground. Kitsune yelped in pain as rocks and dirt burst from the ground around her.
"We have to get in z'here!" Sasha shouted, trying to beat the noise from the attack. "We can't let z'his th'eeng have Mike kill Maxie!"

Watching her friends' Pokemon trade attacks was heartbreaking, but as soon as she'd seen Mike's four Pokemon waiting for them, Kasiya knew it was inevitable. She watched Titanium take Cable's attack head-on, and he roared. She turned away as Portabello raced toward the Electivire, his claws raised in preparation for what could be considered his signature Sky Uppercut. "No... I don't want to do this," she whimpered, but the sounds of battle all around drowned out her tiny voice. She once again glared at Milo, but her complexion paled when she heard the words he spoke next. Mike... had left them behind so he could go on ahead and... kill Maxie? The girl shook her head, trembling all over. No, he can't! He can't do that, we have to stop him. He can atone, but not... not that way! The panic she felt only increased when Milo ordered the Steelix to perform an Earthquake. Kasiya fumbled for a command for Hiro, but she had no words at this point. Instead, the Arcanine grabbed the girl by the scruff of the neck and threw her onto his back as the Earthquake sundered the ground. Despite the massive injuries he were to suffer from the attack, protecting Kasiya was his number one priority.
Flannery, meanwhile, wanted very much to not believe a word the phantom said, but deep down, she knew he was being truthful. This was exactly the sort of thing Mike would do, and she shook her head fiercely, finally regaining her wits as the Steelix unleashed his ground-shaking attack. "Oh, no! Torkoal, Protect, quickly!" she called, grabbing Keegan by the arm and yanking him down beside her just as the tortoise summoned her own defensive, green barrier, protecting not only the Pokemon, but the two redheaded humans, as well.
"Sasha's right, we've got to stop him," Kasiya shouted, sliding down from Hiro's back. "We can't let Milo win! Hiro, I know you're hurting, but you've got to stop Titanium! Overheat!" The Arcanine nodded, ignoring the stabbing pains shooting up his legs. If he was never subjected to an Earthquake attack ever again, it would be too soon. The Legendary Pokemon firmly planted his feet, his mouth gaping open as a massive fireball began to form.
Upon hearing Kasiya call out to her Arcanine to use Overheat, the gym leader had an idea of her own, and she stood up, pointing at the other Fire-type. "Torkoal, Flamethrower on Hiro, quickly!" Now, quickly wasn't usually in Torkoal's vocabulary, but even she got the message and quickly released a stream of fire at the Arcanine. Gotta love Flash Fire, the redheaded female thought as the flames didn't cause any damage to the Arcanine, but rather gave a tremendous boost to his firepower. The fireball grew larger in response, and on Kasiya's command, the Arcanine unleashed the Overheat at Titanium.

"Ugh, you're disgusting," Keegan grumbled, looking away in order to avoid eye contact with Milo. In doing so, he found that his line of sight fell on Flannery, who was now crouching next to her Torkoal. He hated that Milo was so right about everything, and he clenched his fists, and grit his teeth. No, he had to forget about the phantom, and focus on the Pokemon. Aside from him, only Winona hadn't released a Pokemon yet, but the Fortree gym leader was too far gone to help them out by this point. Dammit, he thought, watching as the Breloom slammed Cable with a scary-powerful Sky Uppercut. Unless Kasiya and Flannery start fighting back too, we'll never get through to Mike. And getting through the doors to Mike seemed like a mighty good plan now, considering Milo had just revealed that Mike was set on killing Maxie. That idiot never does anything halfway, the redhead thought irritably, though he wouldn't get to formulate his own defensive strategy against Titanium's Earthquake as someone suddenly grabbed him by the arm and hauled him painfully to the ground.
As the earth rumbled and shook around them, Keegan sat within the safety of Torkoal's Protect, blinking and looking slightly stunned. "Good thinking, thanks," he mumbled, upon realizing it had been Flannery that saved him, and as soon as the barrier fell he jumped to his feet, releasing his own Ninetales. "Helios, use Fire Blast on Portabello, now!!" he shouted, thrusting a gloved hand in the direction of the Breloom as he lowered his own barrier. Maybe we can get rid of Milo if we can knock out Portabello, the redhead reasoned as Helios' reared back and literally blasted the five-pointed star of flames at the dual Grass and Fighting-type.
Like magic, Kasiya and Flannery had both sprang into action, and out of the corner of his eye, Keegan saw Flannery's Torkoal give what was probably an unnecessary boost to Kasiya's Arcanine only seconds before he fired off one of the most powerful Overheats the redhead had ever seen. Yes! he thought, the flames reflecting in his green eyes. Now we're getting somewhere! He looked to Kilik and Winona. "You two, we've gotta bring down Portabello!" ===== Lee glanced down at the girl beside him, slightly annoyed that his Houndoom's Flamethrower had been blocked, but he wasn't about to be outclassed by her, or the young couple that had challenged them. "Dark Pulse," he growled, still pointing at the Clefable. Houndoom snarled, glaring through the rolling steam as he created an aura of dark thoughts before sending it off in a pulsing burst toward the Normal-type. "Are you gonna take care of the Wartortle, or what?" the boy Rocket added, his voice harsh.
"Right, yes," Miharu said quickly, feeling a little embarrassed. Her previous attack had been blocked, but it wasn't like she was just lollygagging around, doing nothing. "Sparkle, give your new Electro Ball a try," she said. "On Wartortle," she added, just in case the Ampharos had forgotten. She hadn't. The Light Pokemon's tail began to shine and an orb of electricity built up as a result. With a bit of a spin, Sparkle flicked her tail, sending the ball of lightning rocketing toward the Wartortle.
"Switch?" Krysta asked, giggling.
"Switch," Greg nodded. Both trainers then shouted the word, and with what looked like practiced ease, the Clefable and Wartortle swapped positions, with the Turtle Pokemon taking the Dark Pulse while the Electro Ball slammed into the stomach of the Fairy Pokemon. "Heh, nice try," Greg chuckled. "Wartortle, Aqua Tail!" The Turtle Pokemon's lips were curled up in a sneer and it charged Lee's Houndoom, pivoting on one foot as it swung its large, fluffy tail around. When the appendage made impact, it detonated, as though it were filled with water, but the Wartortle's tail itself remained intact. Houndoom staggered back, soaking wet and severely hurting from the strike.

Robin's face brightened when she heard that this new and apparently friendly stranger was going to show her to the gym leader. "Oh thank you!" She turned her 100 megawatt smile on and chased after the other. "So how are they able to keep this huge forest in here? It's massive! I have trouble keeping a house plant alive!" Though that was mostly due to Luffy who got hungry and tended to eat the plant. Speaking of the Ambipom he seemed to have forgiven her for her shouting, or forgotten about it. Robin was glad. She didn't want her friend mad at her. He would probably not be battling today but she always did like her best friends support.

Dante knew his bad luck was becoming something of a legend but seriously? Did it have to be so bad? Couldn't it just take a break for the day? Dante watched as not only was his pokemon hit by the thunder wave one of the audience members decided to participate as well. He watched with wide eyes as they released a Poliwrath that let out bigger then Dante thought it should be Water Gun attack. He sighed as he watched the water land splash up and help the electricity arc up and hit Kenny. He was at the apex of his bounce to! At least the water gun didn't hit him. He watched sad as Kenny winced slightly and his points took a nose dive. They were going to have to do something pretty quickly as the match was almost over. "Use your Shadow Punch." Dante called out hoping his bad luck was going to let his pokemon move this turn.
He got pretty lucky, well it wasn't really luck, it seemed like bad luck had worn it self out on him for the moment. He watched as Kenny pulled back one disconnected fist and the shadow power gathered in it before he sent it flying towards the floating washing machine. Honestly who used a floating washing machine?

Professor Rowan had been having a good morning. The pokemon outside were all healthy, he had made a few new and interesting observations. No one had come to beg him for a starter pokemon to this region. All was looking good as he was settling down to enjoy a nice cup of coffee and read the morning news paper. That didn't last very long for him though as some loud dramatic... thing burst into his lab. The older man gave whoever had just entered his lab a dark look as he took a sip of his coffee. Time to make things hard on whoever decided to enter the lab and ask him for something. He then proceeded to ignore the stranger and went back to reading his paper.

It was a lot easier navigating their way back through the grass with Tropius by their side, as not only did the Fruit Pokemon know the way by heart, she also was able to use her large wings to send powerful gusts of wind forward to bend the grass enough to make passing through easy, but not strong enough to damage it. Kasiya was impressed by the Tropius' power, despite how young it was, and the fact that she was smaller than Rosemary. Her PokeDex said Tropius averaged about six feet, seven inches at the shoulder and Rosemary easily had about a foot advantage. I bet she'll grow up to be super tough, she thought, again thinking of Winona's Tropius. It was so large, yet graceful in the sky, and it had been powerful. She wouldn't deny that her instinct as a trainer was practically begging for her to capture it, but for some reason it didn't feel right. As she and the two grass Pokemon came back into Fortree City, it was safe to say their little group was far from unnoticeable. People turned their heads and stopped walking to look at them, and Kasiya simply smiled and waved at the onlookers, most of whom would smile and wave back. The once-shy and timid Rosemary inclined her head politely, not minding the attention while Tropius would bow her head and look away, possibly more bashful than scared.
When the awkward trio arrived back at the Pokemon Center, Kasiya had to return the Meganium to her Pokeball as she was slightly too wide for the doors, but the young Tropius was just able to squeeze in, so long as she kept her wings tucked in. The other patrons of the Pokemon Center pointed and whispered, and one little boy, who'd been waiting patiently with his mother, ran over to investigate. "Who's that Pokemon?" he asked, the excitement prominent in his voice.
"This is a Tropius," Kasiya answered, gently petting the Fruit Pokemon on the shoulder.
"It's got scratches on it," the boy observed astutely. "Were you guys battling? Is the Tropius okay?"
Battling? Not really, but Kasiya didn't want to frighten the boy, so she simply smiled. "Yes, you could say that," she answered, nodding. "She's here for a check-up, now. It's a good idea to get your Pokemon healed regularly, especially if you've just had a battle," she told him. "But, check-ups are good even if you haven't been battling."
"Really?" the boy said, but before Kasiya could answer him again his mother had called to him, and the two of them, plus what must have been the family Mightyena, excited the center. There weren't too many people ahead of them and before long it was their turn. Kasiya gave the nurse Alphonse and Nova's Pokeballs, as well as explained what had happened to the Tropius, though she did choose to leave out the part about how the boys were members, or ex-members, of Team Magma. The nurse must have given a good impression because Tropius didn't seem to be scared of her at all, and even followed after her into the treatment room.

"Your Potion must have really helped," the nurse told Kasiya as she examined the Grass/Flying-type. "Her injuries all appear to be superficial, but I am going to run some tests just to be sure. I'm glad you were able to protect her; Tropius were once very plentiful in this area, but because of the delicious fruit that grows around their necks, they've been hunted and poached to near extinction. Even with trainers like you and Pokemon Rangers protecting them, their numbers are very few these days."
"That's awful," Kasiya sighed, looking at the Tropius sadly. "I'd forgotten that the fruit is even edible." She glanced at the Tropius again, noticing the spot under its chin where the fruit normally grew. There was nothing there now, except a sore-looking raw patch, and Kasiya suspected that those awful boys had also harvested the poor Pokemon's fruit in addition to the awful way they'd treated it. "Poor Tropius," she murmured, not only for the young one right in front of her, but for all the others as well. She didn't understand how people could be so greedy and selfish and act that way towards Pokemon.
"I wouldn't worry about this little one," the nurse said, gently patting Tropius' shoulder. "She's going to be just fine, thanks to you and your Meganium bringing her here."
"That's a relief," Kasiya said, sighing happily. Tropius did indeed look much better now, and her spirits seemed to be higher, as well. She smiled and held her hand out to the Grass-type, who sniffed it a few times before nuzzling it gently with her nose. "You'll be back with your friends in no time." Alphonse and Nova were fully healed now, as well, and Kasiya thanked the nurse as she took the Charmeleon's and Piplup's Pokeballs and clipped them onto her belt, feeling a bit bad for the little Water-type. He'd seen two battles today, and both had ended with him on the losing end. Don't worry, she told herself silently. We'll get there. Soon, Alphonse will be winning battles all over the place. Someday, he'll be as strong as - no, even stronger than Haruka's Prinplup.
Kasiya bid the nurse farewell, ready to get out of Fortree now as she walked through the peaceful little city. She had no idea where she would be going next, but her primary goal right now was to strengthen both her and her Pokemon as much as possible so that she could go and rescue Shocker from Team Rocket. Every day the Raichu spent captive within the evil organization was one too many for Kasiya, and she knew she wouldn't sleep well again until the faithful, albeit moody mouse was back at her side. And I swear, Shocker will never leave my party again, she thought, determination etched onto her face as she walked.

Kasiya was so caught up in her thoughts that at first she didn't hear the cries of a Pokemon coming from behind her, and it wasn't until something whizzed by the top of her head that she stopped, rooted to the spot by fear. She chanced a glance forward, seeing that something large, sharp, and green had wedged itself into a tree just ahead of her, and on closer inspection she realized it looked like a leaf. A Razor Leaf, perhaps? Tilting her head in confusion, Kasiya turned on a heel and looked behind her, uttering a cry of surprise when she saw the young Tropius standing behind her, wearing what could only be described as an impish grin. She assumed the nurse had let Tropius outside into the Pokemon Center's yard for some fresh air, and the Grass/Flying-type must had made her escape after that. "But how did you get over the fence?" she asked, giggling as the happy Pokemon nuzzled her arm with her nose.
She gave a happy chirp and flapped her leafy wings, and soon she was flying small - albeit slowish - circles around the area. "Of course, of course! How could I have forgotten that you can Fly?" she laughed, standing back as Tropius came in for a landing. "So why are you following me?" she asked, petting the Tropius' head fondly. "You should be heading back home and finding your friends. Or…" she trailed off, now looking the gentle Pokemon in the eye. "Did you want to come with us?"
Tropius nodded earnestly and gave the girl a happy nuzzle, though she put a bit too much force into it and Kasiya was knocked to the ground. A few of her things tumbled out of her pack, including one of her empty Pokeballs, and Tropius didn't hesitate for a second to reach down and touch it with her nose. A red light engulfed her and she was pulled inside, and the sphere rocked twice before making that telltale chiming sound and coming to a rest. For a moment Kasiya just stared at the Pokeball, taking in what had just happened. "How come all captures can't be that easy?" she laughed, shaking her head as she scooted forward and picked up the red and white sphere. "Welcome to the team, Tropius! I think I'm going to call you… Calliope!"

"Well, see you in the gym," the dark haired girl said to her Dratini before she recalled him into his poke ball, looking back over her shoulder as Shiro made his way out of the mart. He was holding two discs, but Riza couldn't see what they were, though they were obviously both for Swinub as Shiro released the cute little ice type and promptly taught them to him. Shiro's little smile at Swinub's cuteness did not go unnoticed by Riza, but she pretended like she hadn't seen it, and instead ran her hands through her hair to remove any tangles that might of formed. "Yeah, you're right," she said, nodding. She didn't want to have to wait for anyone before she got the chance to challenge the leader herself. 'Time to win my second badge,' she thought, feeling quite confident.
The return trip up the street was short, and it was already quite warm outside, even though it was still very early. Riza began to wonder if the gym was open yet as they reached the building's walkway, and she took a deep breath as she made her way forward, slowing only to push open the big doors and step inside. The smell of chlorine instantly hit her nose and she was reminded of a swimming pool, which was exactly what she saw upon entering the gym fully. In the center of the building was a rather large pool with several floating mats on the surface. Riza looked around, but saw no one. "Hello?" she called, her voice echoing loudly. "Anybody home? I'm here to challenge your leader to an official gym match," she added, hoping it would draw out the leader. * * * * * "Hehehe, you're welcome," Gardenia giggled, trying hard to not be blinded by the redheaded girl's very bright smile. "Oh, it's not very difficult," the gym leader in disguise said, nodding. Instead of a real floor, it's just healthy, fresh soil which we mix fresh, nutritious compost into on a weekly basis. There is also a vast water line running through the whole complex, so we can water everything with ease. The roof is made of glass panels, so sunlight can shine through, and of course, we take care of this gym with a lot of time and love!" It may have sounded a bit cliche, but it was true. Gardenia and her followers dedicated many hours of the day into the upkeep of the gym, but it was worth it when you considered just how well everything grew inside. "Essentially, it's a giant greenhouse," the gym leader went on, not caring if she was boring her potential challenger with information on her gym.
"And here we are~!" she said in a sing-song voice as the trio arrived in a rather large, grassy clearing. It was quite obviously the gym's arena, judging by the white lines painting out the areas. "The gym leader shall be along shortly," she added, before proceeding to practically skip across the arena until she stood in the box opposite Robin's. "Allow me to introduce myself," she said, acting as though this was the first time she'd seen the redheaded girl and her Ambipom. "My name is Gardenia, and I'm the Eterna City Gym Leader! Sorry to lead you on like that, but I couldn't help myself! Don't be angry!" She cleared her throat and grinned across the arena at Robin. "So, are you here to try and win yourself my coveted Forest Badge?"

Paras' somewhat short life flashed before its eyes as it awaited The End, but surprisingly, The End didn't come. Instead, what came was a cold, wet shower and Paras opened his eyes, blinking. The water was only a tad unpleasant, and in fact hadn't really hurt him at all. The Slowpoke hadn't yet seemed to catch up on the fact that its attack was finished, and it still sat there, mouth hanging open awkwardly. Paras glanced back at Jasper and Totodile, and then back at his slow, pink opponent. He could do this, right? All he had to do was defeat some opponents and he could get stronger, and once he got stronger, then maybe he wouldn't be so scared anymore. He lowered his front end so that his mushrooms were pointed at the Slowpoke, preparing to bombard it with Stun Spore, but Paras quickly realized that it would probably be pretty useless as this Pokemon was slow enough already. So, he quickly changed his game plan and instead released a small, dense cloud of venomous spores right into the Dopey Pokemon's face. Slowpoke got a good lungful of the PoisonPowder, though it didn't show that it had been affected, at least right away. It seemed to shake a bit and it dropped down to all fours, now staring Paras in the eye. Its body began to glow a bit as it used its Curse technique, boosting its attack and defensive power at the cost of its already horrendous speed.
Jasper, meanwhile, had no idea that his Paras had stumbled upon a battle and was participating willingly, as he was far too concerned with the bat Pokemon that was menacing he and his Totodile. He'd called out for a Dragon Dance and Totodile easily obeyed, using her fancy footwork to up her speed and attacking power. It would be difficult to get her claws or teeth into the aerial opponent, but being faster would definitely help her to avoid its fangs in return. This time, the bat Pokemon swooped down, uttering a shrill cry in an attempt to hit Totodile with an Astonish. Rather than have her dodge, he came up with a different plan. "Totodile, Leer," he said. "See if you can't scare it off course." The gator did just that, narrowing her eyes, baring her teeth and making herself look downright scary as the Zubat neared her. It had the effect of slowing it down some but it still slammed into the gator, who stumbled back. "While it's close, Scratch it!" Jasper called. Okay, perhaps he was starting to get into this. It was a little bit exciting, after all. Totodile jumped at the chance to use her claws and she did just that, catching the bat squarely in the chest where she'd hit it with her Water Gun previously.
The bat shrieked and promptly flew off, choosing to cut its losses and get out of there. The match hadn't lasted as long as Jasper had wanted it to, but oh well, he'd get other chances. He knelt down in front of the water type and patted her head. "Good job, you terrified 'em," he said. Totodile smiled a toothy smile, and then tilted her head, looking over in Paras' direction. She could hear something so she pointed to get Jasper's attention. "Hmm?" The boy rose and carefully walked over to where his Paras had once been hiding, only the Mushroom Pokemon wasn't hiding any longer. In fact, the usually-timid Pokemon was face-to-face with a Slowpoke, and he was actually battling.
