[[I apologize for any typos or poorly written sentences ahead of time. I wrote this in a hurry so that I could post before I left for the hospital. ^^;;

EDIT: Alrighty, edited to adapt to the loss of Ally and Violetta. The beginning is pretty much the same, it's only the end that changed.]]

"There are those who seek to change their lives..."

Ainia sighed and slowed her pace, thanking the gods that she didn’t get herself lost again. She could see the run down inn up ahead, its poorly painted sign advertising cheap beds and food. Pulling Blaze along behind her, she sped up, wanting to get back to her room as soon as possible. It felt like she had been walking for hours, and even the hard bed with dusty old sheets that the inn had provided seemed comfortable right about now. She slowed her pace as she neared the entrance, reaching out her hand to open the door, only to freeze in place as a familiar voice drifted to her ears.

“I know she’s in the city, and I know she has a room here. You will tell me if you see her, or I’ll burn this place to the ground. I have a little issue I need to settle with that wench. I’m not going to let her get away now that she’s so close.” The deep voice, obviously a man, growled. A small feminine squeal followed this, which Ainia assumed was the innkeeper.

“I’m sorry, sir, but I have no idea what you’re talking about. We’ve only had one guest check in this month, and it was a young gentleman.” It was obvious from the innkeeper’s voice that she was terrified. Ainia would have to thank the woman later for covering her tracks-- if she got the chance.

“Look, woman, I know you’re lying, and if you don’t—“ The man’s voice cut off, and a nagging little whisper in Ainia’s head told her to run. She squatted down and got Blaze to quickly climb onto her back, stepping away from the door just as it flew open. Her face paled as she saw the man who had been speaking to the innkeeper. “Well, well. It seems I won’t have to go looking for you after all.”

Ainia stared up at the officer in silence, his Dragon Corp armor shining in what little light drifted in the alley from above. There was no doubt in her mind that this man knew who she was, as she had serviced him many times before while working as a servant in Bandore. He had always given her the creeps, watching her out of the corner of his eye, and only ever requesting her service. A shiver ran up her spine as his eyes darkened and he reached out for her. She quickly jumped back, just out of his reach, and watched his hand closely. With a snarl, he unsheathed his sword and swung it at her rather clumsily. She ducked to the left, predicting the attack as soon as his hand had reached for the hilt of the blade, and then took off running.

“Get back here, Wench!”

Ainia could hear the man—Hart was his name, if she remembered correctly—running after her, and she thanked the gods again. Despite having the added weight of Blaze, she was still lighter than Hart without her armor on, and could easily outrun him. The young woman had always been fast on her feet in normal everyday situations, and now that she really had a reason to run it seemed as if she moved with the speed of the wind. At the moment, her primary concern was getting away, and she wasn’t paying any attention to where she was going. If she had, she probably would have noticed the wall that seemed to suddenly spring up in front of her, stopping her in her tracks and knocking her off her feet.

“What the—Oof!” She hit the ground hard, turning at the last second to keep from crushing Blaze. With a growl, the young woman scrambled to get onto her feet, glaring angrily at the wall in front of her. "This is so not my day..."

"Well, well. The little spitfire has nowhere to run now, does she?" Ainia felt her blood freeze in her veins, and before she could turn around she felt a hand wrap itself in her hair, yanking her backward while another one tossed Blaze to the side. She thrashed in Hart's grasp, her actions only causing her hair to be pulled painfully.

"Damn you, you a**!! Blaze, run for help!" She screamed, and tried to strike back at Hart with her hands, only to earn his sword at her throat for the attempt. "Let go of me!!"

Out of the corner of her eye, Ainia watched as Blaze ran out of the Alley, a small spark of hope filling her. She made one last attempt at struggling, and was rewarded for her effort by something hard hitting the back of her head. With a small whimper, her world went black.

"...And those who seek to change the lives of others."

Akakios gave no comment to the scene in front of him. His lips small and closed, the business involved here was old, and far beyond the need of the meddling of a newcomer.

Soon though, he watched as Bellius circled him, Akakios only allowing his peripheral vision to watch this strange man, as he spouted off facts of lightning. His shoulders raising as he took one long deep inhale, but, as he Bellius turned to Xen, Akakios let his shoulders drop, his breath now silent

Akakios fell deaf for a few minutes, watching as Bellius left, disappearing out of sight with Aloutte. The first thing to fall on his ears was Eve's voice. "Who was that guy?"

He looked to the two and gave a snort to Xen's comment. It could very well be true, Bellius was a strange creature. He listed to Xen give a small explanation and Akakios interjected himself into conversation. "I believe it's best to trudge on, perhaps the bazaar?"

Akakios was still in desperate need of something more fitting, and the shops would soon be closing for the night wouldn't they? Akakios turned on his heel, his boot slightly scraping along the floor, his feet falling towards the door. The door giving a small squeak of protest as he pushed it open. Squinting his eyes slightly to the sun that shone through the door. And as he fully stepped outside, he heard something not too far down the street. "Let go!"

With no second thought, the door slipped through Akakios's fingers, squeaking once more in protest. His boots fell heavily on the cobbled streets as he began to near the trouble.

"There are those who seek to change their lives..."

Blaze was running as fast as his little legs could carry him. He didn't understand why that man had started to chase them, or why he had thrown him against the wall like that. He did not understand the way he had grabbed the Angel, or how she had screamed. He understood the fear, though, and that she needed help. Panting, he continued to run, his body sore from how the big man had handled it. Help, that was what he needed, but he didn't know where to find it. And who would listen to him? He was just a child.

He couldn't see where he was going; his vision was too clouded by the tears running down his face. Blindly turning a corner, he ran into a pair of legs, stumbling a moment before clinging onto them and looking up at the blonde man they belonged to. Blaze opened his mouth, frantically trying to form words, trying to tell this man what he had just witnessed.

"Please! You have to help her! Please!" He choked, snot running from his nose, his little body shaking from his sobs. "You have to save the Angel-lady before he hurts her! I don't want her to leave like Mommy! Please!! Save the Angel!"

He turned back the way he had came, tugging on the man's pants before running back to the alley where the evil man was at, the alley where his broken Angel lay unconscious.

"...And those who seek to change the lives of others."

[[A short little peek into the mind of Blaze. That poor confused little boy... I do believe I may love him more than Ainia xD Anywho, moving on. If you didnt get it, he ran into Akakios. I tried to make that obvious, but, yeah...]]

Akakios continued to run towards the sound of trouble, about to round a corner when he felt something bump against his legs. Looking down first to see wild tufts of blond hair a top a small child's head. Watching him stumble before his tiny palms clung to his pants, now seeing the blue eyes from which frantic tears streamed down his red face. Listening to him plead, Akakios's face turning to one of worry, his brows furrowed, his mouth slightly agape, watching as he struggled with words, snot dripping from his nose. How could one as young as this be so traumatized, enough to be so visibly shaken.

Shocked for a moment as the child tugged at his pants, and running to a nearby alley. And then, with a quick snap of his lips together, the sympathetic look wiped away, his hand wrapping quickly over to his sword as he followed the child, into the dark alley. Glancing up and around as light began to escape them, watching the child as he lead him on, seeing a woman lying on the ground, unsure if she was breathing. Akakios tearing his hand away from the sword, bringing a hand to lift her head as he called out to her. "Maa'm! Maa'm!"

((((That was plenty obvious, loved your post.))))

"Life's a drag, your a nuisance, just another day in life."

Maka just walked with the rest of the group, simply taking up the offer of possible free food and a room. He gazed around, not wanting to make eye contact with anyone or anything. People rushed by, some wandered aimlessly, some might have been drunk. But it didn't matter to him. He had not received any info on his target, but with this slightly larger group, he just might find something. What a band of interesting wierdos.
