"Arell, Dundee and I were out for a scenic drive when the universe so kindly folded on us and we found ourselves driving in the Nevada desert. IO captured us, and we escaped."
"YOU were at IO?! Kai. And you when were you going to call?"
Gar was able to patch his communicators video onto a small portion of the screen so that she could see everyone and so that they could see her. They would notice that she was laying down on a bed facing up the camera on her. While wearing a nice suit vest and shirt.
"I was calling Robin when I answered your call. As you all can see I'm in a hotel, resting after having a small vacation in the desert, and having tea and cookies while discussing how much I hated IO with director Ivana."
Gar rubbed his temple and now that he was hands free he looked to Oracle and the others.
"Thanks for being a distraction Kessh- And could you call Robin and get him on this same line Oracle."
He said sincerely to the both of them. Gar then turned his attention to Kai and then stared at her for a moment.
"Can you be serious here? For a moment?"
"Well, you know how I get. I was kinda hoping we would skip seriousness because I don't want to think of something that happened, and I wanted to talk to Robin first... beca-"

Oracle voice was heard once more, "What did they do to you Kai? And... What can you tell us about what you saw about I.O.?"

After a few relay of conversation via commlink, Oracle's questions ran out loud and clear, "From what I've been hearing, if you don't feel up to it Red Cardinal -- get your rest or at least as much as possible. Although, we're going to need as much information on your parents considering .... we'll be running into them. There is something that's troubling me though.... Did your ... escape seem almost too easy? I've been looking at the I.O. data on this end, I can't imagine that they would have simply given up trying to hunt you down. Las Vegas isn't so far from that base -- forty-five minutes tops by car and not that far from Area 51. Are you sure that you weren't tailed?"

Meanwhile, while Kai was dealing with the repercussions of the universe folding over . . .
"I'mma skin that cat later."
That's enough outta you. You're not even THERE!
Well . . . Arell and Dundee finally finished their little pep-talk, with Dundee feeling a bit more confident that before . . . Arell just relaxing in the room watching the Rolling Stones . . . Dundee would have stuck around, but he's a lot more of a Beatles fan and decided to head up and call it an early night . . . they had some work to do in the morning to go home.

Kai, Arell and Dundee heard Oracle launch into her briefing, "As I've already stated, International Operations has grabbed up one hundred and forty-six teens from across the country in order to resurrect the Genesis Project that had been previously shelved over twenty years ago. This current and most ambitious incarnation of this mutant eugenics program would be 'Gen 13.'
"The goal of Project Genesis is to produce powerful mutant operatives for government use in military and espionage operations -- referring to these forced recruits as 'assets.' I.O. treats these kids as little more than cattle to be used and disposed of as they see fit.
"The director of Project Genesis is a ruthless woman named Ivana Baiul. Ms. Baiul is an ambitious operative turned bureaucrat. Her file indicates that Ms. Baiul is a trained scientist as she is also a well noted operative for I.O. over the years. It is also noted in her file about her callous and sadistic nature, willing to use any means to get what she wants.
"Her second in command, Threshold, aka Matthew Callahan, is who you encountered directly in a fight, RC. Threshold is powerful telepath and telekinetic who's psychological examination seemed to indicate that he is 'a paranoid sociopath with delusions of grandeur.' Threshold is as brilliant and just about as sadistic as the Joker. In this operation, it is imperative that both Ms. Baiul and Threshold be captured.
"As far as Drs. Summers, RC already explained in detail what to expect from those two. Both doctors were personally recruited by Ms. Baiul for the resurrected Genesis to improve I.O.'s chances of success with manipulating the mutant genome. This doctor couple has already succeeded in cloning ... Starfire. The files indicate that they are raising this clone as their own child and training her in advanced combat techniques. Also, I.O. started to create human-tamarian hybrids in one of the lower levels of the base.
"Also of grave concern is that the former second of command of Stonewall is now working directly for I.O. This man is Jimmy Zorn, one of the architects of the 'agent conditioning program' used to brainwash people into becoming ruthless assassins with no qualms in killing or obeying orders without question. It... frightens me what kind of damage this man could do, if he gets a chance to implement his program on these kids.
"The Phoenix Base itself is maned by almost three thousand personnel -- mostly technicians and support staff. There is an elite cadre of former military personnel used by I.O. -- from soldiers recruited from Special Forces to combat pilots for jets and helicopters. This base is equipped with thirty-six Super Hornet jet fighters, twenty-four Blackhawk helicopters, ten experimental hovertanks, over a hundred powered armor suits, and a like number of robots taken and rebuilt from Brother Blood based on Cyborg's technology. Those of you who are not familiar, I can provide further information and specs on any of the equipment listed.
"Also of note especially for our resident Green Lantern up in the Watchtower, there is a piece of alien technology in deep storage that I.O. hasn't even tinkered with. This object appears to be a cryo-coffin with an unknown creature inside. From what I.O. has already figured out, this creature is the basis of a bioweapon cloned from this original creature. This 'Angel of Wrath' was targeted for destruction by an alien race known as Sh'iar -- who seem to be afraid of this creature whatever 'it' actually is.
"Any questions so far?"

Kesshou's voice sounded worried, to say the least. "The Sh'iar are a most powerful race from our world. Although the best one to ask of them would be Professor X. If they could not contain this creature and were planning on destroying it while it slumbered, then it must be something that none of us would wish to see. If I.O. releases it, we most likely won't have an I.O., or the children of which they have captured, to worry about any longer."
She said that last part in a tone that said 'this is bad'. She wasn't looking forward to having to fight some over powered creature that made all of Sh'iar quake in their boots.

As the discussion of the plan to assault I.O. from Xavier's seems to heat up, a transmission linked in from Smallville pipes in, "Hey, if y'all needin some distractions, Konner and Ah could go up in orbit an' toss some junk satellites down around dat base ta shake em up. Ah know it's a bit crazy, but it might work."

Arell heard the conversation and smirked. "I knew dem sumbitches would be up t' somethin'. We've already engaged de enemy." the big Cajun said, picking up the meeting through his computer/eye.
"I'm famil'ar wit' de Blackhawk helicopters. I'm gonna need a distraction, but if I can sneak in an' get one of the choppers. Y'all release de kids, but I smell BLOOD." he growled. The more he was thinking about IO, the angrier he was getting.
Dundee linked in through his laptop. "Calm down, Arell. No need to engage if it isn't necessary. We have to do this in a calm manner. After all, our main priority is rescuing the kids, NOT making matters worse by counter-strike." he said, thinking. "Now, what do you need us to do?" he asked.
Arell smirked. "An' dey expect me to follow a plan out of my element. I'll help rescue 'em, but MY main priority is turnin' de IO complex into a smoulderin' crater an' seein' every last higher-up in dat godforsaken program DEAD!" he growled, slamming his fist on the coffee table.
Rehabilitation my a**. he thought.

When Kai heard Dundee and Arell's voice come over her communicator in the teleconfrence a sort of emotion spiked in her. Several at once actually of both anger and of being upset. She glared towards the door as she was sitting up and spoke a bit loudly and sternly in quick reply to Arell.
"ARELL haven't you done enough killing? I say you're done."

Aaaaand THAT response caused Arell to lose his temper. He was already mad about IO . . . and THIS put him over the edge.
"HELL no I ain't done. THEY'RE STILL OUT THERE! And since when do I take orders from some bird-b***h who doesn't know me from Adam?!" Arell shot back through the microphone as Dundee cut in.
"HEY! Kai, telling Arell what to do is a quick way to getting your OWN a** kicked by the big guy. Trust me. I've been trying to get him to work on it for YEARS . . . and I'm a member of his FAMILY! You REALLY think you can?!" Dundee responded, trying his best to keep a level head about the situation. Although Dundee's respect and feelings for Kai had caused him to be aggravated at Arell, and he immediately started to tear into the big Cajun.
"And DON'T get me started with you, Arell. For once, Kai's right. Yes, Kane deserved it, but going in there all 'First Blood' Rambo is going to make it EVEN WORSE!" he responded.
"Oh? An' what's YOUR plan, Dun'? What the HELL are you gonna do then? Say we go rehabilitate those ******** just to let 'em back on the streets and do it AGAIN?! ******** that s**t. You wanna get the job done, you do it ONCE, and you do it PERMANENTLY." Arell growled.
"Yeah, and get us in deeper s**t than last time. GREAT idea. While you're at it, you overgrown iguana, why don't you get into Rape? I'm sure C.J. hasn't get laid, much less get his MIND off someone, so you can take him along!" Dundee responded in pure anger and PLENTY of sarcasm. Apparently he was unaware about his relationship status with Misty. There was a stern silence from Arell's side.
Arell got up and right over to 759, throwing the door open.
"Get up." Arell growled as Dundee looked over at him.
"I'm not getting up and I'm NOT fighting with you, Arell. You need to apologize to Kai. NOW." Dundee said, putting the headset down to the communicator.
"Hell no! She wants us to lie down an' let them walk all the hell over us!" Arell responded as Dundee looked at him.
"Arell, listen to me. You NEED to calm down." Dundee said, trying to get to the big guy, getting up slowly before Arell launched.
"Calm this you little blockhead!" Arell growled and threw a punch, Dundee dodging it before throwing one back . . . it wasn't too long before the fistfight had erupted between the two . . . thankfully neither of the boys had their weapons on them.

"Dundee!"
Kai got up from her communicator and just before closing it she added a statement.
"Next time we discuss plans, lock Dundee and Arell out of it completely. Red Cardinal out."
She closed her communicator ending the contact between her and the group. Kai put on her Utility belt and slung her bag around her shoulder. This was going to be over tonight even if Kai had to fight Arell with her injury. After Kai had collected her things that weren't even set out she headed downstairs to Arell and Dundee's room. She picked their door and entered with a grim look on her face. A quick jolt and she caught Arell's arm before he could swing at Dundee again.
"Arell. Calm. The. F*ck. Down. If you can't handle simple orders, and would fight someone of kin to you, you're the same as a criminal's dog sent to destroy the innocent."

At that time, Arell spun around and threw Kai off his arm. "You stay the ******** outta this!" he growled. However, Dundee saw his opportunity. Running behind Arell, he leaped up, grabbed Arell by the back of his shirt and sent him FLYING out of the room and with a loud CRASH, the six-foot-four Cajun had been thrown into the adjacent wall.
Dundee looked at Kai and then over at Arell before dusting his hands off. "Thanks for gettin' him off me. My GOD I hate working with him." he said, referring to Arell. "Stay on your toes. I doubt he's gonna stay down long." he said.

Kai nodded to Dundee and stayed standing in the room. If they could keep the conflict out of the hall away from civilians that would be choice.
"Dundee, if we kill everyone at IO we won't be only killing bad guys. There are innocent people there, even if they are working for the bad guys they aren't evil. Some of the lower workers and such. That and I want us to go for a moral high ground. In situations like this, that ground is better, less we want to start war against this nation. We want to /show/ them that /we are/ the good guys. That there is no reason to kill us. Destroying a base and it's officers is definitely not the way, and I shouldn't have to say that."
Kai kept ever so ready as she spoke with Dundee a little quickly to get her point across. She knew Dundee was on her side already but if Arell could hear her from where he was in the hall it should be good enough for him to see that his rage is not necessary in this situation.

"Kai, I'm with you. I'm making sure I prevent HIM to go on a killing spree." he said. "You alright though?" he asked. There was a connection with how Dundee and Kai were working. Although when Arell came up from the hole in the wall (fortunately the room directly across was a broom closet) he was ANGRY as hell.
"Keep your ********' words to yourself. Follow me an' y'all BOTH get holes your ********' heads!" Arell growled and went off into his room, grabbing every last weapon he had on him and left. Apparently Kai's and Arell's viewpoints for justice were similar (IO needed to be stopped) but Arell's viewpoints (for those watching this at home) kinda ran through the gauntlet of a few things.
1.) IO captured innocent people and tortured them while getting away scot-free. That's first thing wrong.
2.) They made it personal kidnapping Arell's kid brother (although they did escape) . . . and a whole bunch of somebodies were gonna be keeping Kane Rocknell company in Hell if the big Cajun had anything to say or do about it.
Dundee looked at Arell . . . physically and mentally hurt, he sat down in front of that room. "And to think . . . we had a great brotherly moment earlier . . ." he said before getting up to get some things together.
"Kai, I can understand if you don't wanna go, but I have to go make sure my big brother doesn't get himself killed. I'm truly sorry on behalf of both of us to what happened, and I hope to one day make it all up to you." he said before walking over to Kai and giving her a hug . . . not like one of those half-a** hugs that a friend gives another. A little more closer than that before he let go, blushing slightly before taking the stairs out. (to ensure he stays safe in case Arell is serious about shooting ANYONE who followed.)

"I'll go check out downstairs and get ready to head to the cave. I think our welcome is long overdue and if we don't leave now we may get charged for damages... That and I think that Arell would probably break some more of the hotel if I show my face to him again."
Kai looked a little upset by how Arell had been acting. She was a bit more upset than she showed, years of practice helped her be able to hide her feelings better. She really thought her and Arell could get along too, and she didn't' want to get between Dundee and his brother anymore.
"I'm sorry for ruining your relationship with Arell."
