After some rooting around and digging, albeit taking it easy on his bruised paw, Valor uncovered something dark yet shiny. It was prettier than that smooth rock he found before. Valor set it aside though, to gift to his human soon, but not right now because he thought he spotted something else under the rubble that the rock throwing had uncovered. Another Sun Stone! Valor was rather fine at this game, just like Servine. But he was starting to find it easier to just use his eyes rather than his nose. Adding the orange rock to the Dusk Stone, the Luxio scanned the rocks again. The Ruins certainly were filled with all kinds of treasures, to the point it was getting rather ridiculous. But so long as Valor could keep finding things, he'd keep looking, if only to see that happy look on Nolan's face. And last, adding to the small hoard of goodies, the Spark cat placed a red gem - a Fire Stone. Nolan was going to be the most happiest human ever! Valor had to carry them all in his mouth, and that was no mean feat on its own. But when he spit them out for Nolan, they were covered in pokemon spit. "Err ... thanks, Valor. Oh wow, you found a lot of things too." And Valor purred when he got his congratulatory scratch behind the ears. Nolan knew about how Eevee evolved, they were rare but popular in Kanto, so he did make sure to put the stones away into his bag, just to prevent any accidental evolutions. It would be embarrassing if he accidentally evolved Chael's pokemon. And speaking of evolutions, Chael's thoughts coincided right along with Nolan's, his mind back on his Magikarp. He got the badge, and Dosu was already a little stronger just by traveling around with Nolan. "Yeah, pretty soon, but level 20 is just the earliest a Magikarp can evolve naturally and not risk turning red. There's tons of Magikarp that don't ever evolve, even getting up to level 100 with no change. I'm not all so sure if my Dosu wants to evolve. I've ... never asked him. It's a huge change." Instead of just doubting, Nolan got out Dosu's repeat ball and the orange fish materialized on the dusty, rocky Ruin's grounds. The Magikarp's large eyes rolled, searching for water, but alas, none nearby so he looked over at Nolan instead, as the trainer picked him up. Nothing seemed too special about Nolan's fish pokemon, except he did have a nasty scar - nothing quite like what Argos had. But it was a large scar trailing down the Magikarp's lip, from the hook that got him years ago. Nolan looked up Chael "Um, I don't suppose you could help me out? He's actually level 19 right now." Post 167 Argos made a whoop like noise. Magikarp or not, he was obviously a fighter from his nasty scar. You would to have out a lot of pressure on the hook to make one like that. The Croconaw liked the Magikarp so far. "Sure. Hey Nincada's evolve at level 20 too. Dosu though didn't want Argos to get the wrong story, and in pokemon speak he explained it to the Croconaw - a Pidgeot had caught him after he got stuck on a hook. It was the bird pokemon's pull that gave him the scar. Nolan just wondered why Dosu sounded more mournful than normal, yet without a way to ask, he watched Argos for a minute to see what the reaction would be. "Um ... Nincada too? I mean, my Magikarp can use a Tackle attack now. I could train them both, and see if they evolve." Yet now Chael really had Nolan's attention. "Do you know when Taillow and Hippopotas evolve?" How does a fish without shoulders shrug, but Dosu did it anyway. The Magikarp would let Argos think what he will. Nolan though was wondering if Chael's silence meant anything. Maybe Nolan hadn't spoken clearly enough or loud enough to be heard. Or this was something much deeper than that? While Chael dug around for another goodie, Nolan found a small bolder to sit on. He propped Dosu up between his legs so fish and boy could look at each other. The Magikarp smiled. "Dosu, ... do you want to evolve into a Gyarados?" "Kaarrrr." The fish nodded. "Do you think you'll be able to do it when you reach level 20?" Thinking over it, Dosu didn't quite understand what a level was, yet he knew evolution was eminent with things as it was. Dosu loved Nolan, and out traveling with Nolan and the other pokemon has made the last four days the happiest of his life. After some hesitation, the fish nodded again and smiled. With some trepidation, Nolan nodded back, much graver, but he was glad he had asked. Now he had a plan - evolve his pokemon. Nolan let Nincada out of his pokeball, and the Trainee seemed to approve of the ruins with all its caves. "Let's get you two to evolve. Speaking of evolution, he had been holding off Fear's. They both liked the way she was now so there wasn't really a point in evolving her. Besides she wanted to kick that Dragonites rear as a Rattata and wipe the smug face off that Elite Four guy. For being Docile natured she was still pretty vengeful. Post 170 Picking up this old cloth, Chael got this creepy feeling. With the morning fog it would have felt like a real horror movie if the sunrise wasn't comforting. He bagged it, digging some more. Yawning, he kept at it. It wasn't hot so he didn't really sweat. That was one upside. Tsuki chased his tail before falling over, dizzy. Lizzy made a zebra laugh, looking at her young partner fool around. She poked him with her snout, telling him to get off his dizzy butt and play with her. Post 171 Nothing this time. Slightly disappointed, Chael began to dig again. His Pokemon played with each other while their trainer dug and talked with the other one. Well, more like rested in the shade of a building's side. The boy was still determined as ever to find a dinosaur. "It's not like every Gyarados is aggressive. The people who say that are probably talking about wild ones that didn't grow up with a trainer." Chael said. Obviously his Magikarp would get a little more aggesive once it evolved. But not mad lunacy like most people thought of Gyaradoses.
