Like, somehow finding out that a massive horde of the undead is about to descend on the city, so everyone needs to GET INSIDE somewhere and off the streets. This would force groups to form and maybe start communicating on how to gather and find a way out or to survive.
This may be heavily influenced by how much Dead Island I've been playing lately.

We should probably wait just a bit for new characters to join or for people just joining to get started before we throw them for a loop, but we should do it soonish to get people moving.
Or hold out until we need to spur the plot on.
