Rush was milling about munching on grass, relishing the feeling of freedom that came with being alone. He had left his trainer with the rest of the Caravan and run off on his own for a while. Nearby, a Deerling was peering out at Rush from behind a bush. He was certainly handsome, and those battle-scars made him look all the more appealing. With a mischievous grin she slid out from behind the bush and stood poising prettily. She hope to catch the large bulls eye, and catch it she did.
Rush froze, he was being watched.... warily he lifted his head and looked around for the source. His jaw almost dropped when he saw the Deerling, what a pretty Pokemon! He felt his fur grow hot and suddenly felt very uncomfortable. He shook himself gruffly and flicked his tails, what was he a lovestruck puppy? He lifted his head proudly and marched over, ignoring her giggles. " H-hello, m'names Rush... w-whats yours?" his courage failed last second and his words came out in little more than a mumble. What was wrong with him!? He could battle opponents twice his size with no inkling of fear, but the simple act of talking to the beautiful Pokemon before him was almost paralyzing!
She giggled and blinked those big green eyes at him - he always had a thing for green eyes- and smiled. Oh her smile! He never appreciated smiles until that moment. " My mother calls me Daria, its a pleasure to meet you Rush." she said in a light voice that sounded to him like the tinkling of a bell. He felt his fur grow hot again and shuffled his hooves in the dirt nervously. " Daria... that's a nice name. I-i'll be sure to remember it" he commented and she just giggled again.
Still smiling up at him she took a step or two closer " So Rush... how about we get to know each other over dinner? I know this great little place where tons of berries grow..." she offered hoping he would accept. She wasn't dissapointed when he nodded his head vigorously " y-yes, i would like that!" he said just a little too loudly. She turned and led him on a twisting path to a grove of berry laden trees, littered around the ground were bushes which held even more berries, there was even a small pond nearby to drink from.
Rush stared in amazement, to think something like this existed out here! She made her way to a bush and started shaking berries from the branches Rush followed suit and soon they had a respectable pile of various berry types. Daria was staring longingly up at the berries in the trees, they were too high for her to reach and she was not strong enough to knock them down...
Rush followed her gaze to the tree and got a mischievous look in his eyes. He backed up several paces and ran full tilt and smacked into the side of the tree sending knocking several berries loose. "oh!" She exclaimed in surprise at the sudden rain of berries, she blinked gratefully at Rush who was looking proud of himself and added the berries to their pile.
They laid on the ground across from each other and shared a meal of the delectable berries. As they ate they chatted, Rush was just as surprised to find out that Daria was wild as Daria was to find out that Rush had a trainer. She was so pretty and well groomed and he so rugged and strong. When they had finished Daria sighed in contentment, she looked over at rush and asked curiously "what's it like having a trainer?"
Rush shrugged "its not so bad, but it depends on your trainer. Mine's pretty good as far as trainers go, Hes not mean but hes stubborn. He never stopped trying to ride me even when i threw him off. Aside from that, its really given me the opportunity to hone my skills and become stronger." She nodded absently, truthfully it didn't sound like a bad life. And being wild could get very lonely....
She brushed off the though and beamed at him "it sounds like you like your life." Rush shrugged again "its a good life, i have no complaints." After that they fell into a comfortable silence. Daria smiled as Rush began to doze off, she got to her feet and walked over to his side. Silently, careful not to disturb him she lay down and curled herself up beside him, pressing into his side and dozed off herself.
A while later rush woke with a start, he was in a small panic until he remembered where he was. He turned his head to see Daria curled cutely into his side. He nosed her gently, rousing her from sleep. " i should be going... my trainer will be worried" he said, wishing with all his might he could just stay beside her. Her face fell a little, of course he had to go back... She got to her feet as Rush did the same and shook herself, dislodging the leaves that had stuck to her coat. "I'll walk you back" she offered, not wanting to part from him just yet.
He smiled gratefully at her, as he didn't want to part yet either "I would like that" he said and they turned to walk in the direction of the human's camp. They walked in silence, only exchanging a few brief words as both were lost in thought. As the fires came into view and voices began to drift towards them Rush stopped short. Daria slowed to a stop herself and turned to look curiously at him.
He had a determined look in his eyes as he stared down at the little deer Pokemon " Come with me." he said, his voice strong. Her eyes widened in surprise " w-what?" she asked, not sure she had heard him right. " I said come with me, my trainer will take good care of you, i promise! You'll never be hungry, you'll never have to be lonely, and you'll be safe!" he urged, voice more gentle this time.
She remained silent for a long moment, quietly thinking about what he had said. She nodded slowly " yes... i think i will come with you, i-i want to be with you Rush..." she said looking down at her hooves shyly. Rush's heart soared and he leaned down to nuzzle the side of her head " I want to be with you too Daria, now come on, lets go home."
