Bleh, I don't have any way to do any special effects or anything, so I can't make them as fancy as I'd like.

Hm.... Well, I don't know if this helps but.... Here.The link goes to a thread where someone compiled a good number of colors, symbols, and alternate letterings. You could use them to make your profile kind of fancy. As for picture special effects.... Don't ask me. I'm not all that familiar with photobucket's editing system.

I don't think I' recommend Photobucket to anyone for editing. Me, I use Gimp. Most people use stuff like Photoshop or even Paint.
Gimp is nice though. As I hear, it's basically the free counterpart to Photoshop, and might even be more versatile.

Hmmm... I don't even know how I would make Laxus's picture in his format. I know that when he gets larger ( Around jonin rank, or the next time skip we encounter. ) I'd like to have lightning in the background.
But for now, I'll just use symbols and stuff.
Note to everyone:
If you like Smosh, look up their legend of zelda rap. xD It is fairly entertaining, albeit slightly dirty.

Well, check this out. She's pretty good at the fancy backdrop ones, and could probably do lightning. Even find you good pictures of the character to do it with, considering it's a common character.

Most people who do that will generally be willing to do it for anyone, though they might charge.

She did say she is pretty picky about the work she'll do, plus you are impatient so give her some time. If she doesn't respond you probably shouldn't bug her just look for other art stores.

In that case, what you can do is play around with what Gregar posted. Change the colors, placement, size, symbols. Add in some stuff and/or take out some stuff. Change the letter styles.
