Tedan couldn't help a bit of a smirk as Leon and Robert got called out for fighting ... and then told they were going to demonstrate something. He did wince a little at all the demotions and such, sort of finding himself glad that he wasn't far enough along yet to have been promoted a first time. Whatever mission they all went on must have been something bad.
Survey missions didn't sound too bad, though. Settling back in his seat, the Sun trainee prepared for whatever this demonstration was going to be, arms folded across his chest.

Robert lifted his chin up off of Petra, as Caelius started talking. He had demoted some people, which must suck for them, but Robert didn't seem horrified like the rest of the group might have been. He was called up to the head of the class, and handed a blunt dagger, which he inspected for a minute..
.. before it finally, finally kicked in. Robert wasn't used to being promoted on anything, after all - for a second, he'd actually forgotten he was an intermediate trainee, and he had just been demoted.
The light bulb above his head exploded in a shower of glass.
"Hey.. wait a minute..!"

Jerry's thoughts of barbershop quartets had been cut short as Caelius's annoyed voice resonated past them. Demoted? for a moment, he sank lower in his chair, brain trying to wrap around the notion. But... but they had fought so valiantly to protect the facility! And they had slaved over cleaning up their mess- to his relief, an option arose. Oh, well... that... that was manageable, right? He had stood out in the snow for hours in nothing but a leotard and battled Jolly snow monsters. He could do *anything*.
It was the phrase 'acting advanced trainees' that piqued his attention the most, straightening in his chair as he glanced over to Candace, only to spot the glisten in her eye and stoic expression as she sat stiffly next to him.
He bit his lip, watching as Robert and Leon were called forward (no surprise, and good riddance), before patting her hand comfortingly before whispering, "Did you hear that? Acting Advanced! They can't find us *that* bad if they trust us enough for that!"

Not surprised. Jordan kept his expression carefully blank as Caelius laid out the terms of the punishment. It did kind of suck that the advanced trainees who hadn't been involved in shenanigans were getting caught in the backlash as well; however, that fact might help the guilty parties think twice later.
At the mention of runic weapons, however, he sat up a bit straighter. He'd been told about runic weapons, the tools and backup he'd learn to use, but he hadn't had much of a chance to see them. New information was a wonderful thing.
I am your weapon, Ferros said sulkily.
Always, Jordan agreed. But sometimes I'm going to need something explosive or bladed, you know. We're Sun division - that means we need to know as many ways as possible to ******** things up. They're just tools. You're my weapon.
Ferros contemplated that, then started to chuckle, a deep, grating, amused sound.

The second Robert and Leon grabbed the daggers, they felt a strange feeling, a sort of numbing sensation traveling from their hand up to their elbow-
- the next thing they knew, both of them were lying flat on the ground from being electrocuted. Vaguely, they could hear someone talking, picking up the dropped weapons. Namely, one Death Division leader. "Runic weapons all have a safety lock, this is to prevent anyone without clearance from using them. Once you have fulfilled the rudimentary requirements for using specific Runic weapons, you will need to recharge them post use after battle. Think of them as efficient alternates to your weapons: they can and will save you from situations. While it is important to rely on your weapons, it is also important not to overtax them."
Caelius seated himself back on the chair, pointedly ignoring the two victims. "Now, are there any other questions?"

He grinned and reached over to return Ryan’s playful shove, but as soon as Caelius spoke up he piped down. Upon Caelius’ announcement Wilson stopped eating. Snap, did he just say…? Slowly, he turned toward the nearest intermediate trainee he knew, Gale. The poor lad looked absolutely horrified. While the death trainee felt tempted to reach out and pat the boy on the back, he even began to tentatively move his hand forward, he decided against it. Some people didn’t like to be consoled. He awkwardly leaned down to take the last bite out of the cereal bar Molly had gifted him—he made a mental note to ask her where she had gotten them, they were tasty—and watched Gale huff and fume. Yes. It was very fortunate Wilson had changed his mind.
He almost choked on the cereal when he watched Robert and Leon fly backwards upon touching the weapons. A bug-eyed Wilson gave Caelius a long, startled stare as the man calmly explained. He mutely shook his head. Absolutely none, sir.

Robert was standing. He was standing, and he was reaching for a dagger, and he was coming to terms with his demotion, and he was -
Not standing. No, he was on the floor, and everything was dark and tingly, and parts of his body hurt for some reason. Like his head, and one of his shoulder blades, which had nicked the corner of the desk when he dropped. He opened his eyes and his mouth worked, but no sound came out.
He looked like a dying fish.

Jerry winced at the sudden crack his friend took against the desk on his way down. Well, now. Those definitely looked... useful!
Watch it, bub- Roar growled int he back of his head, but Jerry easily dismissed him, shifting forward to gingerly stretch his leg out as far as it would reach before gently prodding Robert to see if he was still alive.

A hand touched her and Candace tensed, her chest raising and falling with short, rapid breaths as she managed to send herself into a panic. Oh god that was the hand to bring her back to her pod and demote her permanently wasn't i--o..oh...it was Jerry. She visibly calmed, pursing her lips and closing her eyes. They can't demote you forever. I won't let them. We'll make them think twice about this, okay? Make them regret demoting you. Atropos said in a determined hiss. Candace whimpered quietly and nodded her head both at Atropos and Jerry, she even turned her trembling hand up to grasp his hand tightly. She heard thudding bodies and her eyes snapped open. Did Caelius just..!? Oh. Oh damn. AHAHAHA! OH JACK THAT'S THE FUNNIEST THING I'VE EVER SEEN! Candace gave a short chuckle and nodded, almost smiling. It was pretty satisfying seeing Leon and Robert get their asses handed to them without anyone lifting a finger. "..Yes, Sir." Candace cleared her throat, sniffing quietly and looking to him with a narrowed gaze. "What would you like us to do first, Caelius?" If she was going to get re-promoted she refused to let idiocy waste their time. Cut to the damn chase. How were they going to start preparing for this.

Jordan had questions. Most of them were about the function and specific qualities of runic weapons, however, and he got the distinct feeling that that was best saved for whatever instructor would be teaching them the actual use of runic weaponry. Pissing Caelius off further with questions that someone else would be answering later didn't sound in the least like a good idea.
He looked surreptitiously over to where Robert had fallen over. The demonstration had been - impressive, and he also guessed that it had been painful. While he didn't particularly want to draw attention to himself, if Robert actually needed help, he would.

Tedan's eyes widened when Robert and Leon were both shocked by the weapons and thrown down to the floor. Oh hell ... now he actually felt kind of bad for being happy about them "demonstrating". s**t, no one deserved that. He shot Caelius a quick look, then quickly averted his eyes - definitely not wanting to get on the man's bad side right now.
Still, it would have been just as easy to simply tell them about the damn safety lock. Though maybe not as effective.

Ryan winced at the death leader's words, trying not to look directly at any of the intermediate trainees. They were probably feeling like crap, no thanks to Caelius' harsh words. They didn't need the younger trainees gawking at them too.
Bad news aside, the mention of runic weapon's piqued his interest.
:Maybe if you practice with those long enough, you'll be worthy of wielding me.: Locke teased, sounding smug.
I still don't really consider you a weapon, just so you know. Well--maybe as much as a butter knife. He added the last part, trying to keep a grin off his face as he watched the two prepare to show a demonstration.
A demonstration of what, he had no clue. Seconds after picking up the runic daggers, the two were on the floor. One of which was doing a strange wiggle.
I change my mind. Maybe I don't want to use one.
