Bitter Winds 10.16.08 Solo Tempest becomes Taj's follower Taj nudged Saljin, handing him the note. It simply said With a smile he walked over to where the man sat cleaning the gun he carried. His eyes glanced upwards as he noted the god sitting down beside him. It must be time for the talk that he had mentioned earlier. Great... "Taj, what can I do for you?"Saljin moved over to sit with them. "He just wanted to know a bit more about you. That's all. He says that you are not unknown to the ways of Mystery." The shifter smiled faintly. Joe had slipped out of the room earlier and Tempest's gaze planted itself on the god rather than the shifter. Finally he shrugged. "No. I'm a magician. At least I used to be and have a show. Before..." A shrug stretched across his shoulders again. "What happened that made you so bitter to gods?" Saljin frowned slighlty as Taj silently watched the man. "You mentioned Lisana, the Goddess of Laughter."Tempest grit his teeth momentarily, but then shook it off. "Not all gods. Just her. My life was not easy growing up. My father... well... Let's just say we disagreed on my career choice. Even successful he disapproved enough to keep me from my younger sister. We got separated recently and I'm not sure where she is right now, but she has one of the aiko with her and some other creatures. Eventually she will try for here."Saljin nodded listening intently as Tempest continued his story. Taj frowned thoughtfully. Perhaps she survived. If she had others with her, perhaps. Jaster whispered softly though Taj had not expected a reply. Are all dads as his and mine were?Taj thought about Nergal and Kaelin. Though different, both cared for their children. No. Not all.Tempest continued to talk of meeting Eftemie and falling for her. "We planned a party for her. Joe, Jace, and I. Joe was Efte's uncle. A carnival. Everyone seemed to need it at the time. Not just her. People need to avoid sometimes." A grin crossed his face but he shrugged unhappily all too soon. "I had a beautiful stone. All sparkly in violets and blues. I knew she'd love it. I left when..." Tempest fell silent as if he could not continue. He could not. Taj sighed. Laughter's host was the girl he loved. It was obvious the man was in pain and would not be here except for Joe. Reaching out he squeezed Tempest's shoulder. Taking the pad he wrote Tempest's eyes flickered over the message, turning bright. He nodded but blinked hard to hide the glimmer. Somehow he knew this would always hurt. Some small part of him deep inside would always remain hers. Taj's arms slipped around the man as tears began to fall inspite of his efforts to stop them. Tempest needed to release some of what he was feeling. The man curled into his arms, crying his hurt into Taj's shoulder. Patting him, he tried to soothe him as best he could as Saljin silently left the room. Much awaited Tempest and this was but the first stage. Let bitter winds blow where they would. This man was his own.

Moons Twined 10.16.08 Solo The demons were gone and they would be moving out soon. A part of him had been very comfortable in Kaelin's rooms with the water and cavern like area. His own rooms here would be similar he had decided but outside the Pantheon he wanted a place of his own. Thinking about rooms made him wonder if he had a temple before the fading. Fuzzy images slipped down over him but as the thought of what he was crossed his mind an image appeared. Hazy at first, it slowly began to take shape. Pulling the pad of paper into his hand, he began to sketch what he saw. As he drew a line across, he suddenly knew it was wrong. The paper crumbled in his had as he ripped it from the pad. Beginning again, he was about halfway when this sheet too ended up crumbled beside the first. On the third try he hesitated, carefully picturing the image in his mind. His hand moved as if it knew without conscious thought what the form should be. Some lines he went back over, darkening them to give more definition to the shape. Other lines he removed. A faint smile twitched across his lips. This was something that could be identified as him. A box of secrets and moonlight.Taj grinned as his fingers traced the shape of the moon twined into the side of the image. Points of stars gave direction as the spiral in the center carried all where the mysteries lay. Even the hidden images in the design were not immediately apparent. All sealed and hidden as if an odd puzzle. It fits. But as he admired it, Taj began to think about the wood he loved so much. Sketching in lines denoting smaller pieces, he decided that each piece would be a different wood. It would take some time to gather what he needed for it but it would be worthwhile. It would hang on his door, an indication that Mystery resided inside. For a moment he thought about the fading. There had been no templed for him. Taj had always been out looking. Exploring for the mysteries that lay just beyond his reach. He had not done his duty but taken his godhood for granted. Playing instead of securing followers and power for Him. This time it would be different. His duties would not be shirked though he would still find time to play. His eyes glanced down at the symbol in his hand. It represented his past, but also his future. An old moon represented who he had been and the new sliver represented who he was now. Together they were the whole symbol. As much as he and Jaster were different and yet twined to the same life now as only a few rare others were. After a moment he added a few more lines to his finished sketch. Using the wood, he would create a second moon within the first. Now all he had to do was collect the wood.

Bringing The Pieces Together... 10.16.08 Joint with Thabara, Cinderfae, Zero Dream Cinderfae Karaskis stepped down the hall of the Pantheon her fiery eyes looking over the corridor. Behind her Ashe followed along a quite looming presence, he had once served as a bodyguard for various clergy in her temples and now had taken the task up again; this time over his goddess. Karaskis had allowed him to, she felt that he seemed to find calm with it. "We are almost there, perhaps we will find if what was done was only in vein." She was wearing the clothing of her host though not what she would have normally prefered it was more suitable for the current situations. The heavy boots sounded hollow as they sounded against the floor of the hall. She had pulled a dark leather jacket over the white tank top that Cinder usually wore under her flight suit; the jacket was one of the cast offs from Taj. His wings didn't allow him to wear much of his old clothing, the seamstress they had acquired seemed up to the task of altering his clothing even in such strange times as they were in now. After walking for a time that seemed much longer then it actually was her eyes drifted over settling on the door that she had visited once before. She wondered how many had been forced to seek refuge in the Pantheon, she was finding the transition somewhat cramped and uncomfortable. Cinder had known Kaelin well but the Goddess found staying in Water's room unsettling. Stopping outside of Ankou's doors she raised her hand knocking lightly, she hoped that Nergal would be in. The pieces that were collected seem more then somewhat strange to herself but she hoped the others would have an idea of what needed to be done now. Thabara Her knocks were answered immediately, the door first opening a gap just wide enough to allow a pair of curious eyes to pear outside and examine the visitor, then being flung wide open, the pale, slender shape of a male aoide bowing to her. With his shimmering golden wings he rather looked like he might be a servant of Greed's. "Lady Karaskis," Ishum intoned, loud enough for Nergal to hear in the room next door, "it is an honor. Please step inside and make yourself comfortable. My lord will be with you any second." He bowed again, the fiery goddess' presence intimidating enough for him to remain formal. "Lady Karaskis." Nergal quietly closed the door to the neighboring room before turned to incline his head in a polite greeting. "So you found the note. I am relieved to see you are well." He knew better than anyone how vulnerable the still half-mortal body of a morphling could be. The children were asleep for now, taking a nap, which was a good thing. Hopefully he'd be able to enjoy the current peace and quiet for a little longer. Zero Dream It did not make long for Echo to drift in, as well - she had quite clearly overheard anything, and made sure the children where indeed asleep before sliding in. "Lady Karaskis." She smiled, strings trailing back and forth behind her as if they where a cat's tail.
It was awkward, really - this place wasn't her own, wasn't her home, but... "Please, do take a seat, both of you." She gestured to the table at the center of the room. Tempo had found it for her, along with a few chairs, to make things a little more confortable for the increased numbers of residents in the room. Anima had said it would be alright, at the very least...Eftemie Walking quickly up the staircase to the rooms on the floor above, Taj glanced around for the door that was said to be Ankou's. He had not met Nergal nor Ankou, but from the description someone had given him, Echo was the goddess that had been there that day when Samyaza had been there. The one who sang so beautifully. He was so looking forwards to seeing Sam kicked back to the void. Minus Gaia's arm of course. But for now, he simply hoped that everything was getting back on the right path. Putting Aristogeiton back together would do part of that. He might have information if they could get the pieces to fit. Taj envied Ari. None would be closer to their Lord than he. Hopefully if they could not get Ari back as he once had been, then there would be someone to take the consort's place. They would only know when this was finished. Knocking, he suddenly smiled at a stray thought. Who would greet him if he had gotten the wrong door? Various faces of those he had already met dropped down. Amusement echoed as Jaster pushed upwards. Just don't shoot them, Taj.Brat.Thabara Nergal glanced at the door with confusion when it knocked again, so shortly after Fire's arrival, wondering who it might be. Lord Illumin perhaps?
He motioned for Ishum to open the door, but the aoide glanced back at him over his shoulder with an uncertain look and a barely noticeable shake of his head. It was no one he knew. "If you came to seek out the Spirit Guide," Ishum said cautiously, "he has left a while ago for some distant place, and it is unknown when he will return." Eftemie His lips twitched upwards in amusement. Too many shared the few rooms here. Hopefully that would be remedied as soon as demons were driven away or executed. The plans to move into a house was already on his mind. Not just for the oni sheltering with him, but also for the others. His tail twitched faintly wanting it to be soon that the world was settled. Writing on the pad, he held it out to the aoide in front of him. Mystery needs no guide in the dark, but to be in the midst of putting an unknown star together. For a long moment he thought of letting the immortal figure it out entirely, but as they could be on a time limit, he relented merely grinning, flashing white teeth as he added, Karaskis? to what was already scrawled. ((short post to get him in and if there is a specific turn on this, let me know. )) Thabara Ishum read what was written on the pad, and then scooted quickly over to Nergal's side, whispering into his ear. The chtonic deity nodded, motioning for the aoide to open the door fully, and beckoning Mystery to step inside. "Be welcome, then, to my brother's chambers. I am Nergal, the Overseer of Souls, and this is Echo, the Voice of the Countless. Karaskis, I take it, you already know." He wondered if more would come, drawn by that announcement he had made on the makeshift noticeboard. (( Nope, no specific post order, not really. n_n; I prefer to keep things flowing, if possible, considering odd work times and time zones.. XP )) Zero Dream Another came in, looking familiar to her yet... yet not quite. She had seen him before, but...
Ah, there. Then. It might have been the host, when the grigori had came. However, no name came to her memory - hopefully the god would not terribly mind.
"Welcome. I... am glad that you seem well." It provably would not make sense to the others, but he would probably figure out what she meant. It was an amazing thing that the only one to have been harmed beside Gaia had been Cosine's twin... It probably would have been much, much different if the void-thing hadn't been focusing on fleeing.Eftemie Glancing over at Karaskis, his lips twitched upwards at the sight of her in his jacket. His fondness for her was easily seen as he watched her in amusement. But turning to his host and hostess, Taj nodded, smiling as he greeted Nergal and Echo both. Inclining his head to them in way of a short bow, he wrote quickly. I-my host Jaster- met the Lady Echo. That day. My voice has become wings and a tail. Fitting that Mystery is more mysterious. I was with Karaskis to retrieve. Let us hope that fel creature did nothing further that we cannot see that will prevent reshaping Aristogeiton. That was the most he had written, but now was little time for the cryptic as he would have preferred. It had been ages since Ari's soul had been broken into pieces. And with none of them knowing, it could not be certain that Samyaza had merely separated him and cast the slivers adrift. Just as she obviously had power over their Lord, so too she may have taken the opportunity to do more to the Consort's soul. They could not know for certain unless she admitted it from her own foul lips. Cinderfae Karaskis moved into the room without much prompting, Cinder's brief meeting with Ankou's host giving them some bit of peace over entering the abode. Smiling she inclined her head to Nergal and then Echo, "it is a pleasure to meet you both, and yes I saw the note and thought it prudent to get things taken care of as quickly as we can." As she spoke her voice fluctuates between that of just the goddess' into a mixed speech of both Cinder's and Karaskis'. At the sound from the door she turned her head before finding some place to sit waiting to see who else might be joining them. She smiled faintly watching Taj with the servant and then with Nergal and Echo. After letting the three take a moment she spoke, "since his change he hasn't spoke, I would attempt to get more of a reason from him but I have a feeling Mystery may not be forthcoming with answers." Her fiery eyes flicker to Taj as she speaks a hint of amusement in them. "He was very helpful when it came to recovering the pieces we went after. And has aided in keeping them safe." For a moment the voice shifted to only that of the pilot, and as the two were melding they knew that Mystery and Jaster were as well so speaking of both as one being had become a habit. "Now the pieces, which I'm sure are what you are most interested in are in a locked chest in Kaelin's room. As we found some refuge there when we were forced to flee the lake house. The person is staying there as well and doesn't seem to have any idea of what is happening." Faran's cluelessness to everything left Karaskis wondering what exactly his part would be in it all, if even anything could be done. The two voices seemed to settle into speaking in only Karaskis' dusky tones at least for now. Thabara This was a strange meeting, Karaskis speaking with three voices - yet still getting straight to the point, just how he seemed to vaguely remember her - and Mystery with none. To hear that the Fire goddess had found refuge in Water's rooms, of all deities possible, made Nergal pause for a moment, quirking a curious brow - but he did not inquire. The Judge of the Dead waited until everyone seemed to have settled down, more or less, before he raised his voice once more. He himself apparently preferred to remain standing, tall and upright. "Two of the fragments found remain in the safety of Hunt's temple for now. One of them is the body of a youth, unearthed from an ancient mausoleum. Untouched by Time, unlike the other bodies found there. It was born without a soul, a vessel never to be filled. I was the one to find it." He paused, remembering something which hadn't struck him as peculiar back then, but now that he knew the Grigori involved.. "That place bore no inscriptions, gave no names, nor dates, nor causes of death. It may not mean anything.""The other fragment is a decanter, filled with a clear liquid, and a golden, key-like thing attached to it. It was obtained under great sacrifices, too great, mayhaps." He hesitated, but the fact were this specific relic had come from, was simply too important to not be mentioned, despite his desire to not expose Hunt and Light's involvement in this. "It was retrieved from the Ashlands, the Grigoris' exile. A deal was struck, though I do not know the details, but the result of it is known by all - Samyaza was freed."
He bowed his head, for the first time giving thought to what Sana--, Aristogeiton might feel like about all this: So many lives destroyed, just to see him restored.. "Here is a curious thing: I know of the circumstances of his last death, when he bore the name Sanatruces. He was.. struck with a weakness while dwelling in my domain as a guest, and no one, neither Gaia, nor Healing, nor Medicine, nor even Death were able to discern the cause of his sudden illness, or help him. He perished within a week, and then his soul was lost. But.. that must have been after he returned from the Ashlands."Zero Dream Echo seemed to ponder something for a moment - if the god had no voice, then perhaps... "One of my aoidei is skilled in sign language, if you wish to learn it. It would not be too useful with most, but could probably come in handy with those you frequent the most."
When Nergal started to speak, she went silent, and then picked up where he had left off. "The last two pieces we found in Wellhaven where a fetish, made from a root and looking erriely like a person, and a ghost on one of the consort's past incarnations... probably from after his soul had been broken into fragement ?" She sent her lover a questioning look, then - he would know better than she as far as that went...Thabara Nergal nodded. "It must be. It is from an Age long after the Fading."Cinderfae Karaskis nodded slightly with a small frown, "I'm afraid it's far from my domain to figure out this puzzle," her eyes drifted toward Taj a moment before looking back toward the others, "the pieces we collected I'm sure you gathered one was a human. A very clueless human and a rather unremarkable one. We also recovered bones and scales from what appears to have once been some sort of young dragon in life. And of course the pendant." Karaskis smiled slightly as she heard Echo, her eyes once again returning to Taj. She wondered how he would respond to the offer. She was certain that mystery had his own reasons for this silence. As Echo turned her gaze to Nergal Karaskis did as well curious what the Lord of the Dead would have to say about the spirit. "If the ghost is part of one of his reincarnations...I wonder then what Faran may be."Pausing for a moment Karaskis looked to Nergal again, "Kaelin has a most interesting caregiver looking over his daughters. She is a witch of some ability, a mortal, but she may be able to tell you something of the fetish."Eftemie Taj nodded to Echo at the suggestion, smiling faintly. His lips twitched slightly as he wondered if he should. Maybe at some point, but was not Mystery for others to solve? And if he gave the answers- more than a clue or two, what did that accomplish? He listened to the descriptions closely and caught the thought of puzzles. A slight twitch to his jaw indicated he heard her. A faint thought that it was perhaps in the combination of the items that was the meaning. But one thing he knew for certain, if Samyaza had done this deed ages ago, plotting and planning, then she left little chance that they would solve it before she returned. It was what he would have done in her place and most likely was a double-edged sword aimed at all of them. Just as her distraction had been while she got away with Gaia's arm. Writing on the pad, he then held it out to Nergal. Evil may still have laced more than is seen. She would know what we would attempt to do with the pieces. She is empty. It was a warning that they needed to look for more than was seen. Even the briefest mention of one of the items somewhere could lead them to understanding what needed to be done. And the first place was what killed Sanatruces or Aristogeiton in the first place. Thabara Kaelin.. had daughters?! Nergal blinked, once, twice, and then forced himself to return his focus to the matter at hand. "So the pendant itself is a fragment as well? That.. certainly is new to me. The bones and scales.. I wonder if there is some connection to the dragon kings? And an actual living person." He tilted his head, mulling over that fact. "As his soul would contain only a fragment of Aristogeiton's it seems only natural that he would indeed be 'clueless'."Nergal nodded to Mystery, acknowledging the warning. "There are those who have gone seek artifact weapons of old to fight the Grigori. My brother is among them." He paused, thinking. "It might actually be of advantage if we gain that wretched b***h's attention. It would draw her out, distract her from the task of building a gate and free her kin. We would only have to fight one, instead of many. But.. that is admittedly not the matter at hand here."He clasped his hands behind his back, forehead creasing into a frown as he thought. How were they to bring all these pieces together? "Byrne, Rebirth might be of help but it's been years since I last saw him. Gaia, perhaps, if she is well enough. Some research certainly would not hurt either." A witch, eh? He seemed to recall as much - the root, the alraune being utilized by alchemists and users of the Craft alike. Zero Dream Echo, to put it quite bluntly, had no idea how they where supposed to put the consort back together. "Do you think Ankou would know... ?" Too bad he was gone now, even if it was something as needed, perhaps even more needed in the circumstances. "Or that he may even be able to do it ?" She knew firsthand how limited one could be when freshly reborn.
"As for her, well... who knows where she crawled off to hide." The goddess shook her head. "But it would seem likely indeed that she, or some from her people, caused this all to happen in the first place. And who knows what more they may have plotted in the ages they spent locked in the Ashlands..." There was a such a thing as too quiet, really, and while mommy and daddy where busy talking about such serious matters, one of the children slowly awoke from his short-lived slumber. Akakios made a face when he realized Lacrymosa and Sotiris where still asleep (did they have to sleep so much ? Really ?) and slid off the bed, bare feet tip-toeing his way outside their shared room, careful not to wake them, sliding out and closing the door behind him.
Still slightly dazed, the young lament made his way to daddy, and started to thug on his sleeve. Apparently he wanted up. But that was when he finally noticed a very important fact.
There where other Big People here. Big People he didn't know.
Suddenly startled, Kios scrambled off to hide behind daddy, peering off the side at the unknown god and goddess.Cinderfae "I do intend to relieve the human that is a fragment of his clueless ness. I feel it only fair that he not be kept in the dark, and that it is beyond my right to use him as a piece of a puzzle or whatever game has been made without his knowledge." Karaskis smiled faintly but the look held no humor the expression was very reminiscent of her host's, "I'm sure he has observed the changes Mystery and I have undergone since meeting with him and has questions as it is." Karaskis sighed, she really wasn't looking forward to such a conversation but it was something that should be done. Really she wasn't sure how to approach it or what to say exactly, the humans she had met either had been unbelieving or in the case of those in her service had embraced what they learned. Karaskis' eyes flickered over toward the small purple haired godling as he dashed off behind Nergal to hide, smiling faintly she tilted her head in an attempt to get a better look at the new arrival. "Greetings." It seemed that Underworld had children of his own, she glanced a moment toward Echo and then Nergal before looking to the child again. She did not know the two well but guessed the child likely belonged to them. Thabara "I am not sure," Nergal replied to Echo and shook his head. "He may be of help in liberating the fragments from the relics - or persons - they've become a part of, perhaps even be able to unite them.. But I do not know the current extent of his powers, we barely talked before he left. As for Samyaza's whereabouts - I could send out the spirits of the dead, attempt to fi--" Something tugged at his sleeve. Slightly puzzled, Underworld interrupted himself to look down and find his youngest peer at him with a hopeful expression on his face. Next moment though, the youth had skittered to hide behind his back, shyly glancing at the unknown visitors from that safe spot of hiding. It was a strange and rare thing to witness a genuine smile creep upon the Judge's blackened lips, as it did now. He ruffled the boy's hair, and easily lifted him up to rest his weight against the side of his hip. "Akakios, our youngest," he introduced the child, his fond sidewards glance at Echo giving away that she indeed was the mother. "He has two slightly older siblings, a sister and a brother. I hope they will not prove to be too much of a distraction from the current discussion, should they wake as well.." Kios and Crys would not be a problem, those two were very well behaved. But Soto.. Inwardly, he cringed at the thought of trying to keep up a serious discussion while that small green whirlwind was running rampant. "If you would speak to the mortal, Lady Karaskis, it would be much appreciated. Whatever we do come up with, his cooperation will likely be required, and as the will and belief of the mortals, choice, seems to draw through everything like Ariadne's golden thread.. To force him, would be the wrong way I feel, though I would not hesitate to do so, should there be no other way." Underworlds gaze hardened. "And I would certainly like to speak to that witch of yours, to gain more insight on that root's attributes. The ghost.. It seems he used it to aid his powers during his lifetime. It is more than a mere talisman, an item of True Magic. Even in death it still strengthens him, and he will not go far from it, unless forced."Eftemie Taj smiled faintly when he saw the child, winking at him. It was obvious that Nergal and Echo loved their children from the way they watched him. It reminded him of someone in a memory. My mother, Taj. Jaster whispered faintly. The same look of love and joy.He considered what Jaster said and then agreed. That was exactly it and he thought about what he knew of Jaster's life for a moment. Feelings of anger at the man slipped forth but Taj shoved them away. Now was not the time though he would have to think about what he knew of before the fading. Perhaps he had his own memories that were waiting to be unlocked. A father and mother who had loved him? A frown slipped free as he thought of Faran. He would uphold the man's choice also, but at what point did they press him to really looking at what was happening? And at what point did they push him straight down the path to what he was- keeping him from deviating so that all was fixed? Taj honestly hoped that it did not come to that. Faran needed to make that choice freely or they were becoming what they had been before the fading. It simply was not an easy situation on any of their parts. And then there was no guarantees that it would even work. What he would do was unknown even to him until it came down to that moment. Then he would do what he felt he needed to. Just as he and Jaster always had. Zero Dream Echo only smiled at the scene that unfolded in front of her - there was no need to remind the young boy to behave himself, really. Without his older brother to drag him along into all sort of mischeif, Kios behaved himself.
Well, most of the time. He was still a child, after all. There was only so much behaving they could do.
"Yes, I agree. It would not be... right, to force him, if such can be helped at all. Hopefully the fragment can be taken from him without endangering him..."
It was probably wishful thinking, but the goddess hoped for it all the same. There had been too much death already - some even caused by her hand. The purple-haired child gave a small startled eep as he was quite suddenly picked up, too busy looking at the Unknown Big People to remember it was what he had wanted to begin with. After that, he just cooed happily. Daddy was cold, but he never really seemed to mind much - or if he did, it never showed.
"Hiiii~~ !" He gave Karaskis the grin - the one which, so far, had pretty much made everyone he's came across melt on the spot - and then noticed the man winking. This made him laugh, and Kios winked back.
The adults where talking about something, some kind of puzzle and pieces and putting together, through most of the conversation seemed to go blissfully over his little curly headed head. Still, apparently they where wanting to put something back together.
"Kios knows !" He chirped. "Glue." Glue stuck things back together, yes, yes ? That HAD to be what they where looking for ! Silly adults. Really, he looked quite proud of himself.Cinderfae Karaskis smiled slightly to the child, chuckling gently at the glue comment. "Glue would be wonderful if it would work in this case but I have a feeling it is beyond that." Karaskis sighed slightly in thought, "we should bring the pieces together, perhaps something will be more clear once that has happened. Which means we will need to contact Illumin and Ea, and I will speak to Faran with Taj. Perhaps he can be made to understand but as many from the world he is use to he will be slow to respond to belief."Karaskis paused a moment in thought, "if you think you could contact the others we could go speak with Faran today. Perhaps it will give him more time to adjust or consider..." from Cinder's thoughts the goddess was not sure how speaking with Faran would fair for them. Thabara "However, some way of binding will be required.. I.. We will arrange for all the fragments to be brought here." He breathed a sigh and turned to Echo. "If you would send out your aoidei to take care of this.. I have seen neither tail nor wing of mine since we returned," he admitted with an apologetic smile. "Who knows, perhaps some solution will present itself once the fragments are assembled close to each other, something we overlooked until now.." The chances were low, but at the very least he hoped that the fragments might strive to form a whole again once they were in the vicinity of each other. "I will send message as soon as that is taken care of. If in the meanwhile the pendant and the bones could be brought here? I would like a closer look at these, if possible. Especially the pendant."If only my brother was here.. Binding souls he felt fairly confident about, but only as long as they were of the dead. This 'Faran', however, was very much alive. Ankou, he felt, would probably be better matched to deal with transitions between the both as he was.. (( Sorry, guys, I just realized I messed up. o_O I completely forgot that Ishum wasn't supposed to be back yet. I will have to edit my first few posts to fix this, am going to use the "goat girl" instead. Sorry about this. ;3; ))Eftemie Glue of some sort was needed, but to find the proper one was the problem. Somehow he suspected that all they needed was within the items themselves. With a nudge in some fashion to get them moving, and the rest would take care of itself and leave Aristogeiton standing before them. He hoped that they did not open a Pandora's Box instead because of something that the Grigori had done. But if so, then they would deal with it as best as they could. The Grigori were not smarter than they were. They simply had had more time to set things in motion while the gods slept. Now they were awake. Taj nodded, glancing over at Karaskis. They should go talk to Faran and bring the things here. Perhaps Nergal or Echo would be able to see something that he and Kara had not. Underworld and Music were further along with their powers than either of them. ((It's okay, Thabby. Let us know when you get it done. I started putting some of this in Taj's journal I think or saving it. Not sure which, but I'll need to change it when you are done. heart )) Zero Dream "Of course." The goddess answered with a smile. "I will send Tempo off to seek Ea and Illumin as soon as he returns." Perhaps they might have an idea of how to put it all together, as well, as things such as souls and, more importantly, putting one back together where very much beyond her. She was music, after all. While she had gotten a small experience of dealing with ghosts thanks to her choice of lovers, it was really as far as her knowledge went.
"Well, I do figure the empty body would be what the rest of the other fragments will have to be bound onto... somehow. It does seem to be it's purpose, as it was made without a soul..." "Need strong glue, then. Kios find for pretty lady." He could tell Soto to look out for some next time he ran off. Or perhaps look for some himself, through he seemed a bit less inclined to break out on his own and explore, shy as he was - but it seemed that said shyness also dissipated rather quickly. When Echo patted his head, with a fond look on her face, the young boy giggled.Cinderfae Karaskis nodded slightly to Nergal, "If Taj and I were to leave now to speak with Faran I could send the bones and pendant back with Ashe for you to inspect. Does that suit you?" She quirked a brow questioningly as first her voice and then the blending of her voice and Cinder's was heard. Remember how I reacted? Karaskis had not been around for Cinder's first arrival to the shop so the pilot lent a few memories to her. Mortals are often rebellious in belief...perhaps some of what Ari remembered will be with him. Karaskis knew she was perhaps being overly hopeful. If you are extremely lucky...should get this over with.Karaskis flickered her gaze over to Taj seeing if she could gauge the Mystery god's reaction. Eftemie Taj nodded his agreement to Karaskis with a faint smile. It would give them the opportunity to speak to the man and make sure that he understood what was going on. And it would also give others a chance to look over the items they had retrieved. He glanced over at the boy, taking a gold coin from his pocket. It was one of those left over from the trip to the shops with Eddard and Saljin, but it would work for what he wanted. Placing it on his fingers, he then rolled it into the palm of his hand. Moving one finger and then a second only slightly, he obscured the path the coin had taken across his fingers to his palm. Taj was quite certain that Echo and Nergal would be able to see what he had done, their powers far above his own, but it should amuse the child to see it seemingly vanish before his eyes. Zero Dream Ohhhh, pretty shiny... Kios' attention had definitively focused on Taj the second the coin had come out, and his odd-looking eyes went very wide indeed when it simply vanished away from his sight. Whaaatt... ?!?
The little godling struggled in his father's hold, if only to be able to try and peek. "'Where pretty go ?!?" Echo, just as he had expected, saw through the little show, but said nothing of it. In fact, she put on a thoughtful face, one finger tapping the side of her face in thought, if only to help cultivate her youngest's wonder. "Oh, it's gone !" Eftemie Taj grinned, moving his hand towards Kios' ear. The coin appeared between them as if the boy had it all along and the god twirled it slightly in his fingertips. Holding it out to the boy, he indicated that Kios could have it. With a wink at Echo, he turned to Karaskis. They should speak to Faran.

Telling The Tale 10.16.08 Joint with Cinderfae, Ivy Cinderfae Karaskis paused a moment outside the door to the small side room of Kaelin's quarters. She didn't remember much of them from Cinder's brief stay long ago but she highly suspected they might have gotten bigger, whatever the case with the rooms she found it exceedingly lucky that everyone had been able to find a small niche somewhere. The engineers had taken a small room to themselves, she knew that Chester had gone off in hopes of finding some piece of technology to help with keeping Mycroft running and that the younger one had gone off along with Eddard. Faran should be in the room and with the conversation she had in mind she hoped things wouldn't get overly messy. Karaskis glanced over toward Taj, after a moment she took his hand giving it a squeeze. They were giving Faran thoughts on what was actually happening if he was reluctant to hear them or to help things could get more complicated then they already were. But she knew that the other God felt as she did that to not speak to him was wrong in and of itself. With a soft sigh Karaskis knocked on the door. Eftemie It was as simple as could be. Taj would not take the man's choice from him. Just as his own had not been taken, he would not let it happen without Faran having a true choice in the matter. He squeezed Kara's hand in return, winking at her with a smile as they waited at the door. Faran was a hard one to judge on what he would and would not do. Or think. He might very well freak out. Thankfully there were no windows to jump out. Only the door and Taj planned to stay in front of it until it was all said and out in the open. The man might think they were entirely crazy also. To most there would be moments of disbelief, skepticism, and even more not limited to jaded delusions. Taj was uncertain which way Faran would go. He could very well reject what was needed. If that happened, Taj was unsure what he himself would do, but some part of him wanted to uphold what Faran's choice was, while another part wanted their Lord back. It was a quandry and actions would only be taken when Faran's decision was made. Ivynian "I don't own it, " came the reply. Faran sat, for the moment, huddled as much as he could in the corner. When he tried to walk around, which was more like pacing given the constraints of 'rooms' instead of ship hallways, he just felt sluggish and heavy. He hated being planet side. Gravity belonged to those who couldn't visualize in three dimensions. He preferred none, with a healthy supply of supplements to assure he didn't lose bone density. It was the two from earlier....kinda? Faran stared openly, blinking like it might change what he was seeing to something a little closer to previous without any luck. Cinderfae Stepping into the room Karaskis/Cinder looked over the area and then to Faran. Pausing a moment she realized that something was wrong with him, Cinder had somewhat of an idea of what it could be but she didn't really dwell on it long as the demons outside in her opinion were enough to make someone wish to stay hidden in a corner. When they spoke they were careful that it was Cinder's voice that he heard instead of the mixing that often occurred between the two. "Hello again Faran, we came to speak to you if your willing to listen. Our appearance is obviously somewhat different and the state of things outside somewhat alarming." She was stating the obvious but something the obvious was the best place to start. She paused unsure how to proceed there was much she could tell him but she wondered which would be easier for him to understand. "This place we came to because here there are others like Jaster and I," she used Jaster's name despite the morph at least for now since Faran would not understand who Taj was at the moment. She wished she was silver tongued at this point, it seemed at least to her that Taj would have had the words that she was lacking. Memories of Cinder's reaction to things here were still present and she didn't wish to start him on the mindset to destroy the parasites as Cinder once thought of doing. "There was a fading of the Gods long ago and they were lost, recently they have slowly been returning..." Pausing she lifted the tank top she was wearing enough so Faran could see the stone in her hip, "after being gone such a long time it is not an easy process and they needed hosts to return, when you first met us," she motioned to Taj and then to herself, "we were just the humans with the gods slowly awakening, but now the gods are slowly growing more powerful...which is why we are appearing different."That wasn't even the half of it, but she gave him a moment and was glad for Taj being there as well because she knew if she were mortal and clueless hearing such things may send her into a panic. And it wouldn't do for him to flee only to be eaten by a demon. Eftemie Taj shut the door behind them, but then stood against it. The room was not large, but he wanted to be sure that Faran listened to them. Well, her. He wasn't planning to say much. It would take too long to write. And he wasn't much for explanations. Cryptic words were his forte, but now even those would take too long with pen and paper. His wings flexed for a moment, stretching out faintly and then back into place. His tail twitched a bit as he merely watched the man, folding his arms and settling back. An unreadable expression on his face as he studied Faran closely. This was important and he was not moving until it had all been told to him. Strangely when they had gone after the necklace, bones, and man, neither Jaster nor Taj had questioned what would be done with him. They only knew he was needed. If Faran did not want to go along with it, choosing to refuse, what would they do? It still puzzled him whether it was the right thing to do to force the issue or not. In order to save what was left, Ari was necessary. But Ari had chosen for himself. Faran had yet to make that choice. It was a troublesome decision to make for gods and hosts alike, but one that mattered in more ways than most understood. It dictated how the gods were going to be this time around. Would they fall into their old patterns of pushing and shoving mortals to their tune? Or would they live amongst them this time drawing delight and joy from what they say rather than push their views upon them? And to Taj, Faran was the epitome of that choice. Just as Ari had been. He simply wanted no harm to come to Faran if the choice were not his. Ivynian A stone-faced door guard, aka jailer, and once again I have no choice but to listen to their meaningless jabber about random shite while I'm kept still like a prisoner with some git goat girl escort. He wasn't much in the mood for it either. It would be a thin line to walk if he cared to, pretend to be very interested in their blather, answer if he could and maybe they would finally let him go. Maybe. Let him go to what end, he didn't know, but survivors didn't lay down and die just because they had no idea what planet they had been dumped on. That would require some amount of subterfuge and care, anyway. The thought was like an internal sigh. He wasn't in the mood, ever, for mind games. "Great, that's just great. So you are 'hosts' to self proclaimed gods. I congratulate you on being Trill enthusiasts or Xenomorph worshipers. It doesn't change anything from when you spoke with me earlier. I don't know anything more about your friend. " Was this supposed to be some threat? He wasn't certain what they intended to or could do. Or even why. "I have been living in an engine room with very few constitutionals for the last twelve years. I never met her. " Cinderfae Karaskis let him speak, truthfully it wasn't as bad as she could imagined not good but not horrible. He felt he was a prisoner, in a way she admitted to herself he was but much of it especially recently was also for safety the demonic influences outside were growing in strength. "We didn't arrive to deal with the pirates looking for information on the winged woman you heard of. Though we did have much the same task that she had originally had, which was finding certain objects and you." Karaskis did not have it in her to play word games at this point and hoped that directness would be more helpful then subterfuge since she was not known for being good at the latter. "I'm sure you have noticed how things have been going, the ship falling apart. The creatures outside of this building." Her fiery gaze paused on Faran a moment before continuing, goddess and host forgetting to place the voice correctly so the next part came out with touches of Karaskis' dusky accents, "we were looking for you because you have a piece of another soul attached to your own," she wasn't sure if that was absolutely correct but for now it worked as an explanation. "However, I know that Taj and myself would have protected you as we do the others had you found us in some other fashion other then being sought out, even without that fragment of a soul." Perhaps not much of a reassurance but for now that is what she had to offer. Eftemie Taj's lips twitched in faint amusement. Faran did not know his own worth but then he had already understood the man was clueless when asked questions before. This was not about what information he could give to them but what they were planning to reveal to him. Things outside were bad and none knew when it would stop. Well, that was not entirely true. It would stop when they solved it. Faran was part of the solution. But he nodded at the thought of protection for the man. And they may still have to protect him further depending on what his decision was. At least if the fragment was not removable but indeed a permanent part of Faran's own soul. Trill? Xeno... morphs? Jaster, do you know? A snicker. You mean there is something you don't know? Well, don't ask me. I have no clue either. With neither of them understanding, Taj stared blankly for a moment, then he smirked in amusement at himself. There were still mysteries here to be discovered. At least for now. But then he had to know and pulling the paper and pen from his pocket, he began to write. Shoving the pad out to Faran to read, he asked, Trill? Xenomorph? They are mysteries to even Mystery. What do you know of them? Then he watched Faran looking for an explanation though still exremely amused at himself. Ivynian Looking for me? Well that was a ******** of a revelation. And the nutballs thought he had more soul then his own? "You know, you're banking on the idea that I even beleive in souls. By the way, I don't. Or Gods. Have you heard of atheism? There are many races that have evolved from the same materials and some can do things others can't.....but really...organisms are born and die and the universe is in entropy and science will eventually be able to explain why everything is the way it is." The other one had come forward and was thrusting paper in his face with less then sentence-structure questions. "Symbiote race and parasitic race. Aliens. Denizens from far off planets that you apparently haven't had the galaxy-faring experience to encounter. It doesn't really matter." He didn't want them any closer then three arms length. With her voice changing they may be contagious is it was a spore-based life form. "If you would have told me weeks ago that it was me you were looking for this could have all been a lot smoother." "And while you pop off telling me that I should be appreciating your protection why don't you wake up to the fact that I didn't ask for it, I don't want it, and I don't need it. And no, I don't care if its dangerous, everything is. People die. It happens. A lot more now then ever. " "And really, I'd just like to die with my freedom. So why don't you tell me what you want in return for that and we can try to work this out. You obviously aren't keen on just tearing off this needful thing from my 'soul', or you could have done that a long time ago." Cinderfae Karaskis stopped herself from sighing it wouldn't be fitting to show such weakness at his anger. Considering mostly with the parts of her that were Cinder she realized that yes he likely did feel caged still; not that she could really help it. Even if he wanted to leave she would be hesitate to allow it, because to have him eaten by a demon after just being found wouldn't bode well for anyone. She wondered somewhat if that went against her original hopes of allowing him free will. Allow humans the right to get eaten... the thought was somewhat amusing to her but then she focused more at what was happening on hand. The problem she was facing was one that all of the newly born faced, it was disbelief. Faran did not believe and she could not hope to gain his help and perhaps at some point trust without it. Not being straight forward from the start may have already lost her the latter but she could live with that. "We are not overly sure how to remove the piece of the other that is a part of you. However, there may at some point become a point in which you will need to help us with retrieving it. One of the reasons I have come to speak with you." Karaskis then stood, long habit from a time now almost forgotten by the goddess had her soothing a skirt she wasn't wearing. As such were more customary when she was in human form. "Let me show you what has become of the creator of us all and why the world...all worlds are slowly falling to pieces. It may not convince you but I believe it is more persuading then myself for Mystery. We are newly awakening so cannot give you anything overly convincing and I don't feel I have the words to convince you." Her voice tapered and changed somewhat Cinder's voice adding information that the goddess normally would not have shared. Eftemie Taj shrugged wondering what he had been compared to. He would have to find out if Mycroft had information later. Faran believed no more than he had. A sudden frown crossed his face at the memory of that day. How far would he go to bring Him back? It was not a question he could answer. Not yet. But he would do his best. He deserved no less. Writing on the paper again, he penned, The pieces also if we can. He is an engineer and maybe the sight will trigger something he understands. Holding it out to Kara, he nodded, moving back towards the door. They would show him the pod within which something changed and see if he thought differently then. Moving back to the door, he waited silently for whatever Faran thought he wanted to do. Perhaps he would be more willing than first thought. Although neither of them knew for certain what would be asked of the man. That was when the problem would begin if he refused. Ivynian "Persuading of what?" Well, they weren't the sharpest gods in the box, now were they? "I said I woudl try to work with you, as long as I could go free once you had what you needed. What is there that needs to be convincing? Is it that you want me to think you're gods? That doesn't have a whole lot to do with the situation, now does it? " Faran stood up, his back still to the wall, "How about we dispense with the 'escorted tour' and do something useful. " "If we're going anywhere, how about somewhere or to someone that can cut off what you need." Soul-cutting sounds like something that might end up with making some sort of walking dead thing out of a horror movie. I'd rather get the mumbo-jumbo out of the way so they can discover you can't do somethign with what doesn't exist. Then we can all move on in our happy lives.Cinderfae She just barely kept herself from smirking as she listened to him, he was frightened which made sense but also didn't help them. Perhaps after meeting the others he would have a better understanding, he was reluctant to find out. Well, to be fair you are being a little creepy.Think you could do better?I know I couldn't, Cinder sounded amused. The part of the pilot that hadn't started to bond with the goddess watched Faran a moment he reminded her much of herself. "Keep in mind it may not be that easy, one of the reasons I wanted to share information with you so you could be informed and hopefully come to understand." Karaskis leveled her gaze at Faran as she spoke, if she couldn't get through to this one human what could she hope to express to the others that she may come across; it was somewhat troubling for the goddess. "I will go though if you don't wish to know more, and 'gather' the others to see what can be done."Eftemie Frowning slightly, Taj simply opened the door, standing to the side as he held it, waiting. Hopefully it would not come down to the man's choice being taken from him. But perhaps after seeing and speaking to the others, he would know more what could and could not be done. They were all guessing and none had been faced with a soul so fractured as Ari had been done. Samyaza had known what she was doing when he had been sundered. Which only worried him more about when she returned. And he had no doubts that she would and had laid a trap of some sort, waiting to be sprung when they least expected it. And when it would do the worst damage. She had to know what they would do. Could Ari truly be retrieved? He had his doubts. Not of the love held for their Lord, but of they being capable of doing what was needed. It had been a very long time, but if so, then they needed to try with all they had to regain him. But he did not like the thought of taking Faran's will away should the fragment he carried not be removable. What would Harmodius want? What would Destruction want? Ari had come to Them freely. If Faran was mixed into this, should he not be allowed to do the same? It was a riddle he little knew how to solve, but one that needed a solution. Ivynian "Are you listening?" This woman was a ********. "I said let's get this done and over with. I didn't say 'Go away I don't want to know more'. But detouring around to just look at s**t isn't exactly going to get me on my own and away from all of you any faster then sitting here in this ******** room. " There were plenty of races that used coercion and exposure to either waves, magic, or other effects to get what they wanted. He didn't want to be a mindless drone. Just...free. Free and away from all these people he didn't know. "So why don't you stop talking to your symbiont and actually start listening to what I'm saying. I want to help you. Let's go, now, and find someone who can cut souls. And then once you have your piece, I go free and never have to look at or hear from any of you ever again? Deal? " And that includes you, Mutey. Faran shot a glare at the man holding the door. Cinderfae Karaskis smirked slightly moving toward the door, he was past the stage where he may listen so perhaps it was time to stop playing and just give him what he wished for. "We'll leave momentarily then," she looked over to Taj with some amusement motioning him to let her get to the door. Faran didn't know what he was getting into, but she hoped that seeing would give him some ideas. I don't think I was this bad, then again I have a feeling he'd react this way to the Savants I grew up with...He'll have time, perhaps by the end of it he will understand.

Lulling Spirits 03.10.09 Joint with Cinderfae Eftemie ((This is a private rp for Cinderfae and Eftemie. Please do not post unless invited to do so.)) --- His gaze crossed over those in the room before he stepped into the smaller one he shared with Karaskis. Removing the vest he wore, Taj tossed it across a chair nearby. He was tired after fighting the demons. As much from stress as actually fighting the creatures. It had simply been a long day. Pouring water into the basin, he washed up, changing his shirt for one of the silks that Jaster had bought. His boots were tossed to the side just before he sat down on the bed. I'm tired, Jaster. Spend some time with Cinder if you get the chance.Finding himself suddenly in control, Jaster floundered, gathering himself. It took him several moments before he did so. A glisten of sweat on his brow was the only sign of struggle. Could have given more warning. An inner growl. Why? A returned smirk. Cinderfae She moved through the room, pausing a moment to smile looking down at the two little girl's curled up on the center bed together. The dark haired gypsy guardian laying not far from them, glancing over a reflection of light told her that Theirn wasn't sleeping but resting in a nearby corner keep guard over the others. Inclining her head slightly to him she then moved off toward one of the smaller side rooms. She wondered if Taj and Jaster would be in yet. Stepping into the room she could see that he had made it there before her; pausing she tilted her head slightly it seemed she had caught him at a moment of unbalance. Not to figure out who it was both, or one or the other. Not that it bothered her overly much, stepping forward she held a hand out to him. "Surprising to find both of us up at the same time."For now it was her as she most often was part Cinder and part Karaskis as they slowly continued with their bonding and mixing. Eftemie Jaster shrugged and smiled. The paper was pulled from the table. Taking her hand, he just held it for a moment, but then pulled her down to sit beside him. It was getting hard to remain alert and it was easier to let Taj do as he needed to. As they needed to. It was strange though. Sometimes it felt as if he were not entirely gone, simply moving to the other side as a part of Taj. But it was a hazy distant dream and he knew that one day, he'd not even be aware of himself as he was Jaster. It was exciting and yet somewhat fearful, but he trusted Taj as much as he had Saljin. And both would still be there. Cinderfae She smiled and chuckled gently watching him, it was Jaster. The part of her that was solely Cinder was saddened that they had so little time left but in a way they had much more; depending on the current crisis outcome but that was another matter. She settled easily next to him, curling her legs so she was somewhat more snugly settled in. Leaning over she gave him a kiss before letting out a breath and settling against his shoulder, the day had been long as was to be expected. "You know, we haven't really known each other long...but I'd say we have come farther together then most." Cinder tilted her head slightly looking to Jaster, she wondered some what the strange silence was that seemed to be effecting not only the god but also Jaster. She was almost certain as was Karaskis that his voice hadn't been taken when he morphed but as Kara put it, one never knew when dealing with mystery. She glanced over to the door for a moment and then back, they hadn't really had time since the demons had taken the lake house. She wondered if he'd ask about the picture, Cinder was somewhat surprised Kaelin kept the image that once had belonged to Merci. Frowning faintly at the thought she then shook her head slightly before looking back and wrapping her arms around him in a hug. Eftemie Holding her close just to feel her against him, Jaster smiled for a moment. Then he wrote He kissed her lips gently as he handed it to her. Then he nibbled her ear, pulling back to watch her with a smirk. Saljin was worried about him and the fact he did not speaknow. He was certain that Cinder/Karaskis were also, but even though the shifter had pushed to try to find out, Jaster and Taj had both denied him. It was not something they were prepared to explain. Ever. If someone did not like waiting on him to write a few words, he'd just grin and walk away. It was their loss. Not his. Nothing ever given to Him was a waste. Nothing. Taking the pad again, he wrote, Him today yet. Taking care of the demon was necessary to protect what is left for Him.>Cinderfae Chuckling slightly she shook her head, shaking out her red orange hair. Glancing down at the note Cinder grinned faintly, "Well lets hope there is time at least for what will remain. Though I was never one to take chances," reaching out Cinder pulled him close her eyes flittering to the door. "Hate to break the mood, lover. But I think we need to get going soon from here." The infliction in her voice giving the reminder that she never was truly alone anymore. Karaskis' own unease at being so close to Water's element had grown as of late and Cinder's was growing as well especially after the conversation with the Water God's Daughter. She realized since their arrival she hadn't had time to speak to Jaster about how she knew Kaelin, if there wasn't much time she wondered if she should even waste it on such a thing. Eftemie Jaster nodded, writing. Any of the large victorian homes nearby that had been abandoned by their owners simply because they left or died would work. I think there were those who had run from the pantheon the day that Samyaza was there. He was sure that there were clothing, dishes, and all the basic furniture they would need still there. A few of the buildings nearby had escaped the major damage that others crumbled beneath. There would be repairs but with so many of them available to help now, it would not take long. he wrote quickly then tossed it to the side, pulling her down for a kiss. Tomorrow was soon enough. They did not have much more time. Cinderfae Leaning down into the kiss Cinder smiled letting herself rest against him, "yes tomorrow...but now we have all night." The world was falling apart, she was slowly not becoming herself and her body belonged to a fire deity. But all of that didn't mean anything to Cinder in this moment, she was focused on something much more simple and much more complex all at the same time. Tomorrow they would have to motivate everyone to get moving and say their good byes, even with whatever the day would hold for them it was unlikely Cinder would be letting her bed mate get much rest during the night.

Daddy Comes To Visit... 01.01.09 Joint with Cinderfae, LittleDream, Merci' Una Daughter of Water Una sits in the middle of the large room resting next to the bed humming lightly to herself as she does. Next to her a book is laying open images of brightly colored fish are scattered over it. Tilting her head she listened a moment to the imaginary blue bird on her shoulder; he was very fond of the story and he was sure that her dolls were as well. Six wooden dolls lay to one side and Una spoke to them softly relating the story of "One fish, Two fish" to them as she did. Soft splashes of water told her that someone was swimming in the nearby pool. Yaxha swam through the pool in the room the spell that shifted her into a mermaid was active giving her an interesting appearance for those that had not seen it before. The green streaks through her black hair seemed more vibrant as she swims. Theirn had pulled himself into a ball of sorts sitting against a far wall writing in a journal of some sort, the werewolf was getting antsy. Una had been told the full moon was getting closer. For now he looked normal enough the gypsy's long dark hair fell down his back as he studied the book with pale wolf like eyes. Nixie laid napping on the bed, the little goddess laid curled in a small ball, Una was trying to stay quiet so she didn't disrupt her sister. Erzulie stood near the door, the goat girl's dark features fixed on a point on the far wall her stance said clearly that she was attempting to stand guard. Her wounded arm had kept her back here when the others had gone hunting which annoyed her to no end, but left back she would keep guard over the others as she had been told to. Kalfyra, the other goat shaped aoidei and Jadá were off in one of the side rooms; the aoidei was arguing quietly with brunette mortal over how to fix dinner that evening. Supplies were running short and how exactly to make the most of them was up for debate, both knew they would likely have to go out scavenging sometime soon so everyone could keep fed. ========================================= Soot covered and feeling not overly enthused Karaskis/Cinder attempted to dust themselves off looking back over the now rather demolished lake house. They would have to find another place close to the Pantheon but at least the demon that had lead the others was destroyed. Wincing slightly she brushed strands of her hair out of her face, her eyes shifted over toward where she could see Ashe moving from the rubble. Wrapped in his arms he held a figure clad in a deep scarlet red; dark hair fell over his arms in soft waves despite the wreckage around them and closer inspection would show that the woman was horned she was an Oni. "Everyone alright?" Cinder assumed control a moment looking over the area and rolling her shoulders, "at least we took care of one enemy..." a slight frown was on her face as she waited for the others to pipe up. White wings flickered and a slightly reptilian voice spoke, "we survived...""Rhys..." Cinder moved over toward Clotho, her feelings jumbled and very ungoddess like keeping Karaskis from assuming control. The boy looked up at her with the same stormy grey eyes she use to see everyday in the mirror, his changed somewhat with a strange silver ring around the outside of them. Touching his face near the tattoo over his left eye she paused and nodded to herself seeing he is alright. It was clear the two did not know what to think of each other yet. "I'm alright..." came a soft somewhat stoic young voice as Rhys responded. Eftemie Taj glanced over at Saljin, raising an eyebrow. The shifter stood silently inspecting himself. The god smirked knowing that Saljin had surprised himself as much as them. What he saw was a nearly upright feline humanoid, sporting two extra clawed arms. Unnerved, Saljin moved a little. It was strange feeling the extra hands and arms and he shivered lightly for a moment. "Most unexpected." he murmurred softly. "I thought... Hmm... Not quite sure what I thought." Releasing his hold on the shape, he shifted directly into his human form. Then he tried to regain the shape. It refused. A frown on his face, he tried to puzzle out what he had done to cause it to work. "I'm not quite sure how I managed to do that, Taj." He shrugged when he glanced over to the bright gaze of the god next to himm. Walking forwards, Taj shoved the pad at him. Panther, then more. Then he simply waited for Saljin to try again. "Panther.. I see... Hmmm... I'll try." The shifter focused, pulling the panther shape forwards. Then he tried to take the shape he had before. In a moment he stood, tail twitching, four arms moving. Nodding, he released it. "Alright. I see now. I have to be panther to get it. I wonder why and it's not exactly what I was trying to do. But it works I guess." He ran a hand through his dark hair in thought. Perhaps it was because felines and certain avians were all he could do. This was going to require some testing. Nodding, Taj patted his shoulder. The new shape would give Saljin a better advantage. It was based on a priman and he was suddenly quite certain that it had been something that Mycroft had given him information for.Hopefully Saljin would continue to use it to his and their advantage. Turning to Karaskis, he indicated the house, silently wondering if there was anything they should look for while here. He doubted there was much left. If they ever returned, they would have to rebuild it. That would be later. He watched Cinder and Rhys for a moment, a faint smile on his face. He was sure neither knew what to think of the other. LittleDream Yumeh let out a loud yawn, and walked out of the room he slept in. He had quite good of a sleep, especially with all that was happening around, but he saw weirder things happen, and it never affected his habits. Exept that this time he won't be able to run away if things turn for the worse. Don't think about bad stuff, precious. And you're not going to leave, which is good. The boy sighed, and looked around the main room, to check what everyone was doing. It was quite loud for this place. Well, with so many people, it would be weird if it were quiet... He noticed that the team who went out demon hunting didn't come back yet. They should soon, though. Hopefully they did good.He once again looked around, and then smiled widely. "Well, it seems I've overslept a bit... Did I miss something?"Merci` The little girl cracked an eye and let it roam around the room, getting her bearings. She uncurled slowly from her reclining position and sat up with a huge yawn. She glanced down at her sister and canted her head to the side as her eyes slid from picture to picture of the colorful fish. They almost looked like the koi in the deep pond that was one of the central features of the room. Nixie sank down off the bed and sat next to her sister, leaning against her side and shutting her eyes again. She really was sleepy, but it was cold up there by herself.*** Kaelin leaned against the stairway that lead up to his rooms. Things had gotten way to out of hand while he had been distracted with his girls. Ea's cabin had been safe for a time, but he had followers he needed to check on. Leaving them with Yaxha had seemed like a good idea at the time, but he had been anxious about his little angels since being seperated from them. Only his speed underwater and his ability to control the element had kept him from open confrontation with some of the creatures that seemed to roam the land now. He worried that perhaps he hadn't left enough muscle to protect his most precious treasures. He wished he had Ordered his winged Aoide here, instead of having him watch over those loyal to him.
Water leaned against the banister and walked up the stairs, his scaled feet making no sound as he moved. The baggy old khaki's hung low on his hips, leaving his jewel to sparkle darkly against his paler skin. He shoved a hand through his long ringlets as he paced down the hallway and stood in front of a door he remembered all to clearly. It was carved from the purest sapphires, and in his memory, a ghost of the old Harmodius still lingered. He reached forward and caressed the surface of the heavy barrier before he pushed it open to walk into his own little world. Una Daughter of Water Una looked up and over as her sister dropped down beside her, reaching over she gave her a little hug. It seemed Nixie was sleepy today, "would you like to hear the story too, Nixie?" Una shifted the book a little so her sister could see it better. Yaxha came up along the side of the pool and smiled slightly resting finned hands along the edge, looking to Yumeh she answered his question, "haven't missed much. It seems pretty lazy right now. Those from the sounds coming from Jadá and Kalfyra someone is going to have to go out soon to help gather food."Before Una had time to start reading again and more of the conversation with Yaxha and Yumeh took place the door of the room opened. Expecting back the group that had gone off for the demon hunt those inside where rather surprised to see Kaelin standing there instead. Una didn't look over initially deciding that when the adults got back they likely would do more grown up talking that just confused herself and Mr. Peeps so it would be better to sit with her sister. Yaxha blinked in surprise and despite being in the pool was able to bow somewhat respectfully, "Mi' Lord water," hearing Yaxha Una turned and peeked over, wiggling her shoulder slightly she tilted her head looking at Nixie, "Nixie, it's Daddy!" The little girl grinned wiggling slightly as she kept herself from jumping up and knocking her sister over. Theirn started sitting up more straight and pushing himself up against the wall warily until he realized that despite all the commotion that had just erupted the place was safe. ============================================== Taking stock of the situation Karaskis nodded and then looked over to Taj, "it seems everyone is alright. Lets head back, that Oni looks hurt. Others can come and scavenge the wreckage later on. There might be something useful in it."Despite her obvious misgivings Clotho followed along as did Rhys the two looking somewhat uncertain. Their ship had degraded and become useless it wasn't as if they had much else choice. Eftemie Taj nodded as Saljin moved to the others. They should get moving before anymore demons appeared. Taking out this one would perhaps allow it the danger to ease up off the area. Of course it could simply allow another to move in and take its place. Hopefully not. The shifter moved towards the rear of the grouping, taking up his place on guard. Tempest fell in beside him. "So you really are a shifter." the man stated. "Yes. Something wrong about that?"
"No. Is it something you can teach. It could be useful in a show." he grinned slightly, shrugging. "Sorry. It's a curse. I got lucky to escape with my mind intact." Saljin replied. "If you ever see anyone with the same style curse, run for your life. They are nothing to mess with. I'm the only one to ever get away in over a hundred years."Tempest blinked. "100 years? So how old are you?"
"Nearest I can figure, 115." Saljin replied softly. "I'm elven, but not entirely. Show? You mentioned that before."Taj squeezed Kara's shoulder a moment. Whether Cinder or not, he knew Rhys was something both would have to deal with. Either way, he and Jaster were there. LittleDream Yumeh got ready to continue the conversation, or even offer himself to do the food gathering, when the sudden commotion on someone's entry made him stop, and look at the door. He was expecting to see Karaskis' group there, and opened his mouth for a greeting, when he noticed it was someone else. And a definetely pretty someone, to that. It must be the owner of these rooms, judging from the others' reaction... That means that this is the god of water, Kaelin. He smiled to him, and walked a bit closer, so he wouldn't need to shout through the whole room. "Welcome! My name is Yumehayla, and I'm sort of a...temporary guest... Hope we aren't intruding?"Merci` Nixie cracked an eye and sat up a little straighter, she rubbed her eyes with the sleeve of her robe before she focused her attention on the door. "Daddy?" The word was quiet and then she seemed to perk up, "Daddy!" She pushed up off the ground and stood up straight, brushing wrinkles out of her clothes before she put her arms behind her back to beam at her father. She was so happy to see him, she let out a happy little girl squeal before she darted over to attach herself to one of his scaled legs.*** Water stood still staring into the room at a bunch of unfamiliar faces. It was his daughters that broke through his confusion as he reached down and patted Nixie on the head. He moved into the room, girl still wrapped around his leg and shut the door tightly behind him. He took a deep breath and let it out, "Well met Yumehayla, I am assuming you know who I am since your in my rooms. I am also going to assume that your here for protection from what is going on outside." Kaelin's voice was quiet, but it echoed with the power of his age. He was not yet fully realized, but he was getting there. The god gave the other man a once over, and a half smile creased his lips as he spoke again, "If your helping to protect my daughters then you are not intruding, I am going to assume you are either a follower of one of the deities here or soon to be one yourself?"
His Caribbean blue eyes moved over to Yaxha as he addressed Yumeh. Kaelin nodded to her and gave a small thankful smile. "Thank you for my children's safety..."
Oh he wasn't sure who all these creatures were, but he was fairly sure that if he had to he could prevail in a fight. After all half the room was made from an element under his control. The scales that peeked up over the tops of his pants sparkled dully as he started further into the room. "That having been said, does someone want to tell me what the hell is going on and who all of these... people... are?" Una Daughter of Water Once her sister had moved from her shoulder Una wasn't far behind her, "Daddy!" came a cheerful little echo as she attached to his other leg. Hugging tightly she giggled faintly as Kaelin moved further into the room with her and her sister attached to him, she grinned looking over at Nixie. She didn't know if Daddy was staying but decided if she stayed attached to his leg he couldn't get away. When Kaelin asked who everyone was Una piped up, "they are my friends!" The little goddess sounded very assured of this despite the unhelpfulness of the statement. Moving from the water Yaxha shifted while slipping into a robe with all the lack of modesty a follower of the Water God would come accustomed to. Wrapping the robe around herself she then turned to Kaelin, "well one of them is my brother," Yaxha gestures to Theirn resting against the wall, pale blue eyes regard Kaelin a moment before he nods slightly. Yaxha then looks over to the others in the room, "And you Yumeh has introduced himself, he is a host to the god of Chance. The aoidei," Yaxha gestures to Erzulie who is closest the dark skinned goat girl offering a bow to the god of the establishment, "they serve the fire goddess, the god of mystery, and the goddess of laughter; Laughter's came with us to the Pantheon through the dangers on the way. Fire and Mystery sought shelter here after having trouble with some demons, they have gone to remedy the source of that trouble and we were waiting on their return." Yaxha motioned to a back room where a single dark single horned creature stood, "those are called Oni they are loyal to the Mystery god, they are a type of demon. There are also assorted mortals that came with the other gods...and an annoying flying thing that belongs to the Goddess of Laughter. Those with rooms in the Pantheon are rather crowded at least according to Karaskis." Yaxha didn't add that she had noticed the goddess' similarities with the woman whose picture was in the room and that was one of the reasons she had allowed them to find refuge. Jadá crossed her arms and frowned at being bunched together and labeled one of the assorted mortals, her temper seemed to match the goddess she had ended up in the service of. ========================================================== Karaskis/Cinder offered a smile to Taj before turning to the rest and attempting to get the group moving back toward the pantheon. It would be interesting no matter what happened, she hoped there would be a world left after it was all said and done. After the great demon's fall their trip back to the pantheon went quickly, Cinder hurried it along she had several ideas over this child that was suppose to be hers and wanted time before she wasn't herself anymore to go over them. "Lets get inside, it'll be safer in there...and more comfortable in the rooms despite the number of people in them."The group started their ways up the stairs, Ashe taking the rear carrying the Oni clad in red in his arms still. It wasn't long before they found themselves in the hallway outside of Kaelin's rooms. Eftemie Taj opened the door, standing to the side so that the others could enter first. Thankfully that demon was now dead and they could think about clearing out one of the nearby houses and repairing it enough to have some room to move around. Hagenti and Anji moved to the side, the boxes of dolls just behind them. They glanced at one another and then at the god before them. Hopefully Taj would be back soon. This god had no real reason to protect them, but as the thought crossed their minds, the door opened again. Tempest stepped inside but then stopped at the sight of Kaelin. The stone on the god's hip reminded him of another day when he was here. Just before Eftemie... He stared for a moment. "That stone... I remember you though you have changed a bit. I met you here.. when this place was a shop. You were angry at someone about something and... " Stopping, he ran a hand through his hair. "It's been a long time since then."Taj glanced over to the oni and the others. They all seemed nervous which meant that Water had not been there long. Inclining his head, he simply waited to see what was going to happen. He hoped they were not intruding, but with the demon gone now, it would only be a short time. Saljin stepped over to Delphine and Triq after bowing to Kaelin. Taj and Karaskis would figure this out. It was not up to him and he turned to Yeti who looked as if he were going to babble. Shaking his head, he indicated that the creature move over to the oni and stay quiet. Yeti looked as if to protest but then drifted over to the oni. "...want Sana.." he muttered softly. LittleDream "As he said." Tista's voice came out, after Yaxha added him in her introduction. You should've done that, you know? Sorry, sorry. You know it happens."Yes, I'm a Diety-to-be, I'm afraid, and I hope it won't happen -that- soon. But it'll happen." Yumeh sighed, slightly annoyed. Would you mind? You're interrupting! After Tista's annoyed groan, he was able to continue. "And that kinda..." But in that moment, the door opened yet again, revealing the awaited company. "You're back, finally! That's wonderful!" The boy's attention was completely shifted to the returning team. He came closer to them, to see if there was something he could help with. "How did it go?"Merci` Nixie turned her head so she could see those who were coming in. She offered a beautific smile to the warriors and continued to cling to her fathers leg. She hadn't really known they were gone because she had been busy napping, but was quite pleased they were back. She looked up at her daddy and gave his leg another squeeze before she let go of him and walked over to Tempest to attach herself to his leg instead. *** Kaelin turned to look at those newly entered and he placed his hand absently on Una's head. His fingers moved through her white locks as he regarded his guests. Well he supposed they were guests, some looked injured and others looked uncomfortable. His eyes moved to Tempest and he nodded to him, "I remember. You caught me on a bad day that day, sorry to say." Kaelin stepped aside so those who needed aid could be moved to the rather large bed that rose in the sandy stone up from the floor.
A splash from the pool caught his attention and his features softened. Under the surface he could see the rainbow hues of the Koi he had recieved as a gift so long ago. "Your welcome to the space. I was a bit young when I created the space so I carved out more then I could use anyway. Harmodious gave me power here that I had few other places and I am afraid I abused it a little in my happiness to have it back."
He glanced at Yaxha and then back over toward Taj, and Karaskis.
She looked so amazingly like Cinderfae, the woman that Merci had loved. He hadn't thought about his host in some time, and it caused him to frown a little bit. "I can help with some first aid if it is needed. I am proficient at it, as I cared for the wind goddess in her youth. She was quite the klutz." Una Daughter of Water Una shook her head slightly giggling as she did watching her father adoringly. Giving his leg another tight hug she let go after a moment only lightly clinging with one arm. Looking up she looked from her Daddy and then to the other adults attempting to follow the conversation as she did. It all sounded very complicated but it seemed her Daddy was going to let her friends stay, Una smiled happily about that. Karaskis' eyes went to water as she entered, Cinder's feelings stirring in a complicated jumble. Cinder for once retreated ever so slightly she wasn't up for facing Kaelin; not after just finding out she has a son. Later...perhaps later. Don't take too long. May not get it done if you wait."Lord Water," Karaskis offered a small incline of her head, the smoke that accented her shifting slightly, there but not obstructing. "Thank you for the offer, I'm glad that we didn't intrude too much." She smiled to Yumeh at the greeting, "we were successful. And not overly damaged...though we picked up some stragglers." Karaskis stepped aside as Ashe entered the red clad Oni still carried in his arms. Clotho and Rhys hung out in the hall until urged on by Karaskis; the Draconian tucked her large dragon wings around herself as she entered the room her reptilian eyes looking over the others before attempting to take a spot near the door. The human boy with midnight blue wings of the same make as the Draconian followed suit looking somewhat lost and out of place. Unsure of how to treat the Oni Ashe moved toward where he saw the other Oni in the room. Offering a nod to Kaelin as he moved past, his features were remarkably close to the appearance of Adrian before Ankou's change. "Luckily I don't think we'll be intruding too long, we cleaned the demon out of the lake house and although the house didn't quite make it...it should keep the others from causing too much trouble." Karaskis wondered if Kaelin would realize who her host was, her clothing was somewhat changed and the oversized coat that Taj could no longer wear since gaining his wings obscured much of what she wore, the boots were very much Cinder's still with the current times Karaskis found them more then useful. Yaxha and Theirn moved amongst those that had just arrived getting out bandages and other medical supplies for those that need them. Kalfyra and Jadá moved to help as well Jadá moving to tend to the red clad Oni that Ashe carried. Eftemie Nodding at Kaelin, he smiled. "I'm Tempest. I'd not realized it was your rooms we had taken refuge in, but it's nice to see a familiar face." Tempest then glanced down at Nixie with a smile. "Awake now, are we?" He patted her head gently a moment. "I suppose I'll have to look for a toy or a book for you next time I'm out." Saljin glanced over at the gods. Hagenti was babbling something about dolls and need Taj's attention. He sighed as Yeti mumbled about "Sana" repeatedly. Shaking his head he moved towards Delphine. He needed to tend to the scratches the demon had given him. The last thing they needed was him getting sick. But he glanced over to Kaelin. "Taj doesn't speak, Lord. And most likely he'll only give you cryptic questions on paper." Hagenti gasped. "That's Scarlet! Is she hurt? Anji, watch the dolls!" She moved towards Ashe and the oni quickly. "Is she going to be alright?"Taj's lips twitched upwards as if to ask what else Mystery would do. He shrugged folding his arms grinning in amusement at the shifter. Triq was staring at Taj as she circled him and he glanced over at her raising an eyebrow. "Um... I was just making sure you were alright, my Lord." the aoide answered, blushing faintly. LittleDream "Anything I could do to help?" He stood close to the group, but not close enough to be a bother as everyone was moving. Certainly something did happen, he thought, as he saw an unfamiliar face. A demon... It kinda reminded him of the trio he met in the forest. And the doll that lies in his bag. He quickly shook away those thoughts. There was no time for useless memories. Some of the team were hurt, and they certainly could use some help. Even if everyone else jumped to do that, too. Merci` The little goddess squinted as she ducked her head at the patting. She tilted her head up toward Tempest as she grinned widely. "You find somfin all fo me?" The seagreen hair was slightly tossled from sleep, and she released one hand from her deathgrip on the mans leg to fuss with it so it at least fell right. She was oblivious to everyone else right now it seemed, her eyes moved to see what was going on but she didn't seem to feel particularly worried or concerned about anything that was going on. She returned her hand to where it was and stayed with Tempest.*** Water patted Una on the head and slipped away from her for a moment, walking over to Yumeh. He wrapped an arm about the man's face and guided him away from the commotion of the hunting party. "It seems to me they are well taken care of. Yaxha and Theirn have things under control." He had a very charming smile, and his hand was behaving itself for the moment and stayed around Yumeh's waist. "Perhaps while they are all getting settled in we could get to know each other a bit better?"
As he talked Kaelin moved back over to Una and with his free hand ushered the little girl over next to the bed where it looked like her toys were. He was so happy to see them safe, and he would spend time with them when he could sit and quietly read to them. For now, there was an unknown, fairly good looking boy in his room.
Kaelin was intrigued.
Oh yes. Very. Cinderfae When her daddy walked over toward Yumeh Una tilted her head curiously, instead of allowing the two to wander off alone; not that there was much alone areas in the rooms Una hurried after them. She was glad her Daddy seemed to like her new friend too. Settling on the floor close to Kaelin and Yumeh Una pulled her book onto her lap before considering what she should do next. After a moment Una nodded and looked up over toward her sister, "Nixe! We need to make a big picture with my crayons...and then we can put it on the wall for Daddy." It was a great idea she decided smiling slightly and pulling her little patchwork backpack over to her lap while under the feet of her father and Yumeh. Giggling slightly she motions over to Yeti hovering nearby and holds out a somewhat fairy shaped purple cookie for him, by the crude shape it is clear the cookie was shaped by a child's hands. Ashe nodded to Hagenti slightly and laid Scarlet down on one of the makeshift beds near one of the small rooms the Oni had been staying in, "she got hit in a blast and I believe that the iron ring that was around her neck did some damage to her." Pausing Ashe gestured toward Clotho, "Clotho removed it with a tool, but it was burning her skin before we got it off. She however seems stable and breathing." Around Scarlet's neck was a burn of some sort; looking closely it was hard to tell what would cause such a wound. Cinder rolled her eyes slightly noticing Kaelin's distraction. See no need to hide.Yeah, lets just get things around. That large house not far from the Pantheon should hold everyone until we can get the Lake House rebuilt. It's getting late, I don't think we can move tonight.I know...and I have a feeling it was going to be a long night. Cinder decided she would spend some time with Jaster, and with Rhys and Clotho. Things needed to get figured out...and she wanted some more time before he disappeared entirely. "Alright, Kalfyra, Jadá get some food together for everyone. Try to get things organized. We'll give Kaelin a bit more space come tomorrow." Without a reason to care if the lord of the rooms knew she was here or not Cinder's voice bleed into Karaskis. Clotho narrowed her eyes slightly upon hearing it. Rhys shifted uneasily the boy seemed adverse to the large number in the area. Eftemie Tempest grinned. "A promise, Nixie. Next time I go out, I'll find something for you." It did not matter to him that the child before him was godly. His objections were aimed at Lisana and being used as he had been. "Go play with your sister now and have some fun."Yeti blinked at the sight of the cookie in Una's fingers. Drool dripped suddenly. "Mmmm... purple tasties Una has for Yeti. Misses Sana." He stopped at her feet landing with a plop, nearly toppling over as he tried to regain his balance. "Like Una."Hagenti nodded to Ashe. "Iron does that. Probably intended to make her a slave." She inspected the damage closely and after a moment stepped back. "She will be alright I think. She needs to sleep and the burn will heal itself. We heal quickly. Thank you, Ashe." She glanced over at Theirn, eyes narrowing slightly, before turning back to Ashe who received a smile from her. "At least you aren't like stupid werewolves are."After raising an eyebrow at Hagenti and Theirn, Taj moved towards the room he and Karaskis shared. Saljin would keep things under control. He glanced at the goddess and then Cinder's son. She needed time for him. He smiled indicating she talk to them. At least Cinder needed to talk and get them settled. Saljin pulled his shirt off, revealing the scratches on his shoulder and arm from the demon's claw. It was nothing he could reach, so he sat winced patiently while Delphine cleaned the wounds. "I think some of the salve Jaster and I still have in my pack, Delphine. It will make this heal much faster. It came from the Labyrinth with us though we only have a little over a jar left. With the filth on their claws I'd rather be safe than sorry."She nodded, moving towards the pack. Pulling the jar out, she held it up in question. "Is this the one?" At his nod, she moved over to put some on the cuts and bandaged them for him. LittleDream Okay, this man was weird. Maybe not the weirdest man he ever met, but definetely weird. There was something in him that seemed...a bit too distant... Though maybe that's only my impression. He's being nice, isn't he?The boy didn't object as he was being led away. Mostly because none of the others really needed his help, or reacted to his question, which made him feel quite a bit useless. "This might be a pretty interesting idea." He anwsered to his question, and continues to walk in the way the man pointed, till they finally stopped. He opened his mouth to say something, but then noticed they have company. "Seems you really missed your father, Una." He smiled to the girl, and patted her head slowly. Is she going to be drawing right here? Hopefully no one steps on it by accident, there's such a crowd here. He moved his head back to Kaelin, still smiling. "You really have wonderful children." He took a strand of his own hair, and slowly reeled it on his finger. For now, this god seemed to be a pleasant company, even though unusual in a few ways. Talking a bit with him might be pretty fun. Eftemie Saljin nodded to Delphine. "That's the one. Just put a coating of that onto the wounds. It will heal them well enough that they won't fester. Jaster and I brought that with us." "They aren't too bad. We just don't need them to get infected." Delphine replied. She frowned that they had all gone looking for the demons, but she had known it was necessary. It looked like Saljin was injured more than the others which meant he took more chances than the rest. She carefully covered the injuries with the salve and then bandaged them. When she put the last piece of tape on, Delphine watched him a moment. "You took too many chances, Saljin." "Not really." he said getting to his feet. "I just had to hold onto him until Tempest took him out." He glanced at the bandages and then pulled his shirt back on. Holding his jacket, he grinned at her. "You didn't need to worry about me. Nothing was going to happen." "Hmpft.. who said I was worried?" she growled, turning away. With a laugh, Saljin pulled her back around, kissing her. Then he let go moving towards the room nearby while she stared at him in surprise. Then she growled in irritation, her eyes narrowed slightly. Before she'd gone a step, she sighed. She did like him. She had ever since he'd given up the earring for her freedom. Turning to the supplies, she put everything away wondering what would happen next now that the demon leader was gone. ((I'm considering this done for my grouping. It will be in my journal should anyone want to copy it.))

A Quiet Moment Or A Lesson Never Learned 04.21.09 Solo Taj had not only managed to grab a pot of tea from the kitchen, he had remained entirely unseen as he did so. A smirk was planted firmly on his face as he slipped up the hallway towards his room. Pretzel's staff was inside, but he was sure he could get some quiet time to himself inspite of the evil creature laced there. All three aoide had been irritated by the evil spirit and the two undead were attempting to break the staff into firewood when he had stopped them. Rasmus and Mirshu were not nearly as tolerant as Triq was. He had lied, at least in a sense, he had. Pretzel thought there was no way to free him of the staff. There was but the evil creature had not learned his lesson yet. He continued to have no remorse at all for what he did and Taj began to think he never would. Glancing over at the staff as he entered the room, Taj simply placed the tray on the table watching Pretzel for a long moment. An attitude slipped out as Pretzel eyed him back. "Getting your own tea? You are a god." he scoffed. "They should be waiting on you. Bowing and scraping. I would make them."Taj poured himself a cup of tea, sitting down in the chair, his back to the creature. For now noone knew where he was and he needed- wanted this time to himself. Perhaps it was selfishness to take this time when so much needed done. Although he was beginning to wonder from the chatter still continuing if he should not have put Pretzel in the closet. Instead he picked up the book he had been reading. "Stupid mortals. Worthless." Pretzel muttered when he was ignored. For nearly fifteen minutes the creature continued its tirade until Taj picked him up, placing him in the cloet. Obscuring the path, Taj moved several things around. *He never learns, Taj.* The whisper was faint, but it was there. *Some will never learn, though opportunity presents itself repeatedly.* "I apologize, my Lord." Pretzel growled desperately. He did not like being shut away. He'd been forgotten for a long time and alone. "Please. I will be quiet! Please."
Taj shook his head, folding his arms as he stared at him. Pretzel would learn the hard way. Or never learn. Turning away, he shut the closet door behind him. A string of the foulest curses spewed forth from Pretzel as the door was shut. Taj sighed, walking away. His book once more in hand, Mystery began to read and ignore what he could barely hear. Soon the muffled words went entirely unheard as the book absorbed him more and more. Finally Pretzel went silent. All sorts of thoughts began to shift around in its sick little mind. Even plots of revenge. One day it would be able to. One day. And it waited while the god who had inflicted all this upon it read a book unawares.

A Temporary Home 01.11.09 Solo After hunting the demons down and spending some time together, Taj and Karaskis came to a decision. With Kaelin there now, they should move out to give everyone more space. With so many sheltering with the water god, it was becoming very crowded. The group left together but at the foyer inside, they split up. One grouping began climbing the staircase and the other started through the living room door. Taj and Yuri checked the furniture and the fireplace to make sure nothing was hiding beneath or in. Tempest and Saljin went to the other side looking through the windows and behind the curtains. More often than not the feline was at the god's side. The rooms were filled with a richness that though thread bare and slightly eccentric was well made and fashionably fit the house. Some ornate glass vases were on the mantle above the fireplace but a few lay broken on the carpeted floor. The nearby study had a desk with several bookcases lining the walls. It too had the same color carpeting and rugs, but the curtains were an entirely different shade than the living room. The kitchen had survived. Cupboards were bare except for the glass dishes still stacked within intact. The stove itself was electric and Taj scowled in thought as he studied it. "What's wrong, Taj?" Saljin asked stopping to check beneath the countertop. He indicated the stove and frowned slightly. Writing on his pad, he said,
"Well, maybe there is a generator in the basement or we can find one. We'll see when we get there. If nothing else we will see if we can find a wood stove somewhere or make one." He shrugged. They would figure it out somehow.
Taj nodded moving towards the stepdown library that was off to the side. The room looked untouched. It had books arranged neatly in the shelves and several chairs and tables scattered around the room. It was quite comfortable though the dust would be a major cleaning. A covered deck to one side had seating options and he imagined it would be nice for a sunny afternoon. If they got sunny afternoons back and had the time for them. The rest of the floor was made up of a half bath, a large utility room complete with washer and dryer. A few places to hang or fold clothing were on either side. Then there was the garage. It was rather large with an area for working on things. He smiled upon seeing that. His woodworking could easily be done here. He still needed to finish the things he was working upon. "Taj." Tempest called upon inspecting the final door. "Basement." Yuri and Taj both hurried towards he and Saljin. All would proceed downwards at the same time. But the dark area was silent. Then Yuri growled making a discovery. A family of rats were living in one corner. He pounced chasing them. Two fell to him quickly as the others squeaked and scattered. Taj's lips twitched upwards in amusement as Saljin began to snicker. Tempest outright laughed commenting, "A cat and his rats."Yuri pretended not to notice as he pounce another one breaking its back. The last one he snapped his jaws around, then dropped its limp body to the floor. Quite satisfied with himself, the feline sat down. Tempest laughed again even harder this time at Taj grinned widely. Taj wrote something on the pad and shoved it out to Saljin. Saljin blinked in surprise then muttered. "Oh shut up, brat." Then he stared closely at Taj. Was it Taj that had just teased him or Jaster? Taj wrote a smirk appearing on his face. In amusement, he turned away towards the darker corner of the basement. His eyes changed focus slightly as they became a bit more used to it. A generator stood there. It was connected to a furnace and the rest of the house. If they could find a way to fuel it, they would have what they needed. "I guess that answers the power problem." Tempest stated from behind him. "If we can find stuff to run it with. We should probably head upstairs now to see if they need any help."
It was nearly an hour later when they left the house. All they needed were their things. The doors could all easily be locked for protection. Major cleaning was needed, but other than that and finding some food, it would just take time. And at the moment they had that.

When he heard the odd tolling of the cathedral bell, Saljin remembered the note he had seen on the noticeboard. It talked of a festival, The Day of The Dead or so it had been listed as. It was still noon but he was interested and he was sure Taj would be. Approaching him, he smirked. "Hey, Taj, I have an idea." A grin crossed his face. "There is a festival today. I thought we might slip out to see what is going on. Nergal is supposed to be holding it. Interested?"Taj raised an eyebrow. Nergal, the God of the Underworld. This could be interesting. Nergal was far more powerful than he was and he was quite certain that under his protection it would be fairly safe. He nodded, smiling. This might just be what they needed to relax the tension everyone had been feeling lately. Both slipped out before anyone knew they were gone. Taj smirked as Saljin outright snickered at the ease with with they did it. They felt like two schoolboys who had sneaked out after dark late at night without their parents catching them. And both planned to enjoy it. By the time they reached the edge of the cemetery, Saljin was thinking of other things and nearly sighed. Many of Taj's actions were reminescent of Jaster. It made the shifter both happy and sad. His friend was there but not in the form he had been. Although he was getting used to Taj, some small action would bring him back to thinking of Jaster and what they had before he gave himself to the stone. He understood how important it had been to the boy, but it was still hard. Taj stopped just in front of one of the stones to study it. The once smooth granite was pitted, grooved, worn by time and weather. The once glossy surface spoke of reverence and rememberance. Not it showed forgetfulness and lack of care. The name was barelly discernable and the date had a crack running through the middle of it. Brightly colored flowers had been placed against the bottom with an unlit candle in a holder. Mostly plastic for its durability. The candles were like silent sentinels left standing watch until the cloying memories were called to life. Then they would light the way. The garlands of brightly colored lights hung while the low drone of the generator in the background hummed its own song. Fuel and such things were scarce now and had been even rarer with the constant demon attacks. Perhaps that was coming to an end now. A faint flicker passed through Taj's expression at the thought that this person had been forgotten as gods had been. An end for all. Jaster would have commented as much and he stirred uneasily for a moment, then quieted. Remembered now with flowers though many markers were faded. Chipped. Broken. Still the few that were left were decorated for the festival and remembered. Like they were dusted off and brought forth now that so many needed the help. He nearly sighed, a fact not lost on his friend beside him. "Taj, something wrong?" Saljin finally worked as they stood staring at the stone marker. Shaking his head, he turned to the shifter. Then he shrugged, glancing around. The booths were set up as any carnival would have been. The first Taj stopped to look at had dolls of some sort. Wooden, painted gaily and they reminded him fo the oni dolls that Anji and Hagenti had been so protective over. He briefly wondered if they would change into something else and a faint smile twitched his lips at the thought. It would be amusing if so. Saljin on the other hand had been caught by the dancer's movements. The girl moved strangely almost as if a marionette and he frowned as he watched her. When a couple stopped to watch her closer, he shook himself free and moved towards Taj. The next booth Taj hesitated over, he listened to the music for a moment. The mournful sound was that of a forgotten lover. The wailing of a dying wind. Even the sorrowful joy of children leaving home. All that and more was drifting, reaching out to touch those listening. Yet he found himself tapping to the beat as his eyes danced over the row of jars before him. The jar his eyes fixed on was to the right, half hidden by the others. For a long moment, he studied it, a feeling of familiarity sliding down over him. A frown creased his face as he looked over the others. But in the end his eyes returned to the same jar. His lips twitched upwards in sudden amusement at its contents. Filled with eyeballs, it looked as if it were waiting on him. Then one turned to stare. He raised an eyebrow for an instant and then reached forwards to move the other things around it. When he could see it clearly, he noticed that all the eyes were looking inwards at something except one staring at him. Looking over at the old vendor, he smiled indicating that this was what he wanted. "Them eyes are fairly pickled by now, boy. Sure you want 'em?" he asked staring at Taj intently. Deja vu, Taj. Jaster smirked, stirring faintly. It was the image of what Taj had used in one of the dreams he had given him. Unknowingly reaching out for something he understood. Or had once. He nodded, and tilted his head as if to ask what price causing the fellow to stare at him a moment closely. "I know a god when I sees one. Lord. Consider it my gift to you. It's been wit me a long time. I seem to pick up oddities but I cannot say I remember that one. Perhaps it was yours anyhow an' I simply be returning it." Taj nodded, shrugging. He did not remember if it were or not. It may very well have been owned once by him so long ago that it was hidden within the memories of his own essence. Rather ironic when one thought about it. He was the god of hiding things, so who could say he could not obscure something from himself. His lips twitched a faint smirk at himself slipping through. The man nodded, turning to the boy. "This be for the god here. See to it that it gets to where it needs to go." Mystery raised an eyebrow as the boy darted off with the jar safely in his hands. He had not indicated where he resided. "Oh, don't worry 'bout the lad." the man replied as he bowed, moving to refill the spot with another jar. This time it had toads within. "That's his gift. He never gets lost." A few moments later Taj walked away. He would figure out the mystery of it later. For now he had it. Some part of him wondered if it were something that had once been his own, passed down through the years. That sense of familiarity slipped down over him again. Perhaps he had. He remembered how he had used a jar of eyes when leading Jaster on a merry chase in the beginning. Either way, it was his now. Perhaps it was meant to be.

Saljin was with Delphin, so Taj walked around alone a short time. He glanced at the decorations, and listened to the sad melody playing. It had a strange lilting sound that was quite eerily appropriate for the area. As darkness fell, he grew watchful as he studied the things going on. The dancers were nearby and he soon found himself watching them in amusement. After the third song, he turned away towards other activities. The acrobats tumbled and bounced with rings and balls. Clambering onto shoulders, they would leap off and be caught. He was captured by the fluidity of their graceful movements whether together or apart. It was obvious that there was a generator powering the strings of lights hanging everywhere. The low drone was not intrusive but it was noticeable as he walked around. But as the dusk became night, he noted its absence. The use of torches, candles, and braziers became more prevalent and cast a fitting glow over everything and everyone. A slight chill in the air gave rise to a low fog and he smiled faintly. It would seem creepy with the addition of the mist but he liked it. A moonlit glow was all that was needed now. But there was no moon shining that he could see. The sky was dark and silent causing him to shiver. The moolight would have warmed it but the sky had been dark for some time everywhere. When nightfall appeared, he smiled as the fog thickened even more. For a moment he wondered if Nergal were manipulating behind the scenes. The memory of a story that Jaster had once seen slipped down over him. It had a great wizard who hid behind the curtain while he pulled great levers and tried to frighten those who had come to see him. He wondered if that book was in the library. He would have to search for it amongst those there and read it for himself. Having a celebration in a cemetery was unusual to say the least but he remembered something about a holiday called Halloween. This was not exactly what the memory displayed but it was the closest version he had to compare it to. He liked Nergal's option better. As he continued walking around and taking in what was to be seen, an old gentleman walked past him, tipping his hat. Taj nodded, smiling but then realized that the clothing the fellow wore was rather out of place. It was near to what he and Saljin had worn in the Labyrinth and considered old fashioned here. For a moment a frown crossed his thoughts that there was something strange about him, but he moved on after another moment of consideration. It was late evening before he realized it and the glow over everything changed subtly and slowly at first. It shifted from the normal yellowish red color of fire to a surreal bluish cast, lending an unearthly hue over everyone and everything. There were alot of people now and he had not noticed how crowded it had gotten. Karaskis would enjoy this, he suddenly decided, moving towards the exit. "Jaster." a voice suddenly called to him. Taj hesitated, but turned back slowly. For a moment all he could do was stare at her. Jaster suddenly stirred, shoving hard, pushing his way to the surface with a great deal of strength. He understood and simply moved aside. It was harder to do that now and he was close behind those eyes that gazed out at her image. He blinked as he watched her clearly. It was his mother standing there in front of him. But some part of him knew that was impossible. She moved forwards, reaching out to touch his face. Cold slid across his cheek. "No, not entirely my Jaster, but still enough I suppose." When he did not answer her, she studied the marking on his face. "You have changed. Wings. Silence. A tail." She smiled faintly, her voice soft. The gentleness he remembered so well was still there and he inclined his head. He hoped she understood it was the greatest adventure he'd ever had. "You were always exploring things. I guess this is the result. I always knew you were more than he could see. And I did not have to be elven to see that, but we cannot always change things as we would have liked." His eyes flickered slightly at the word 'elven'. She had been an elf? When the question slid through his expression, she understood smiling as she nodded. Indicating they sit, she replied, "Yes. I am half-elven, but that means you are a portion also. And whomever it was I was looking at in the beginning." She smiled. "And I am dead. This is a time I could return for a few moments." She stopped just to watch him a few. "He was rough on you. Your father. Was he not?" Jaster's expression entirely changed and her expression winced. His jaw clenched tightly and his entire body stiffened. "That bad? I'm sorry." she said softly, reaching out to touch his hand. "But you are happy in spite of him? Aren't you?" He nodded, visibly relaxing a bit. At least she was not asking about him. His wings twitched slightly then settled back down. "You have lost your voice to him as well as more." The him she meant this time was Taj. "You did want this, didn't you, Jaster?" She had to know. He smiled suddenly, reminding her of the little boy who delighted in secret things, finding places that were only his own. His grin widened and he nodded confirming that it had always been his choice. "I am content then." Once more she reached out, smiling. Her hand was still as cold but both felt the closeness that they had. "I love you, son. Never forget that. You have been given a great gift as he has been. Use it well." Jaster smiled, tilting his head in amusement. Then he pulled out the pad to have a conversation with his mother. It was not the same as the way they used to talk. But it was no less.

DOTD 3 Joint with Cinderfae 09.23.09 Eftemie It was late evening and Taj returned to Karaskis after having slipped out earlier with Saljin. They had explored several things and he noted the jar of eyes on the table in his room as he changed clothing. His lips twitched upwards in amusement as he pulled from his closet one of those oriental style shirts he liked so well. This one was a deep violet silk with an even daker violet swirl to it. The buttons, loops, cuffs, and collar were all a deep two tone gold with a small leaf pattern. A black pair of boots and pants finished off his look. He glanced at the mirror checking his hair for a moment, then swept it back to tie it out of his way. Pulling on a vest of the same violet fabric only trimmed in black, he only buttoned two of the three buttons, leaving the top portion open for a reason. After flexing his wings a moment, he studied his reflection then placed a notepad and pen inside the only pocket he had, a hidden one inside the vest. Taking the pad still on the table, he picked up the pen trying to decide what to write. Something cryptic so that the surprise would remain. Amidst the walking spirits loved ones are glimpsed once more. The lady dances in blue flames with the secrets the night holds for them.>A grin split across his features and he folded the note up carefully. Then he picked up a small box that contained the flower comb he had carved for her. This was the appropriate time to give it to her and his eyes gleamed with mischief. Jaster stirred as if in amusement but then fell silent again. Taj sighed. Soon they would have to merge entirely. And then a part of him would change again, but tonight was theirs. And he moved towards where he had last seen Karaskis. Of course he'd give her time to change. But not too long. Cinderfae Karaskis sat in front of a mirror, the room she had taken for herself came equipped with an old vanity; she found the piece of furniture almost comforting at times. Resting back and she started to braid Cinder's long hair; the goddess had found that her host's hair tended to get unruly and be more trouble then it was worth if it wasn't kept neatly braided most of the time - she wasn't sure how Cinder had ever had the patience for it. Flickering her eyes up she caught sight of Taj moving toward her, "you look more smug then the cat that just caught a mouse," she commented quirking her brow slightly as she noted his expression. Then slowly she shifted her glance to take a look at his outfit entirely, "and where are you off to dressed up so nicely?" Her voice shifted slightly as Cinder and Karaskis took a moment to look Mystery over. Eftemie Taj walked over with a grin, shrugging. Placing the box and the note in front of her, he kissed her on the lips before moving back. Then he reached over to take her fingers away from her hair. Then he simply undid all the braiding she had done. With a faint grin on his face, he watched her as he picked up the brush and began brushing through her hair gently. He liked her hair down sometimes, but as he was brushing he leaned over kissing her neck a moment. Whether she understood the note or not, he planned to take her out for the evening. Her aoide had been distracted by orders from him via Triq and Delphine. He wanted a fun evening out tonight. Just the four of them. *You are getting pretty devious, Taj.* Jaster smirked softly. *You expected otherwise?* The god watched Karaskis closely. They had both worked on the comb. He hoped that Cinder understood that. He'd make sure that Kara knew so that Cinder knew also. *No. Not really.* His reply was even softer and Taj knew he was reserving his energy for what may come later. It was all either of them could do for now. They both needed this. Cinderfae Grinning faintly Karaskis watched Taj in the mirror behind her murmuring slightly at the kiss on her neck, "hmmm, keep that up and we may just have to stay in." Reaching out the goddess retrieved the note and box rather curiously she wondered what Mystery was up to this evening. Reading the note she smiled, glancing up to make eye contact with him in the mirror. "So no staying in then. And if I ask what you are up to I have a feeling you won't be very forthcoming, would you?" Smiling slightly she opened the box and paused looking at the comb a moment; reaching in she pulled the comb out holding it up to look at it. "It is very pretty, thank you." Looking to the mirror again so she could see him behind her she went on, "hmm, since your already back there brushing my hair out, going to help me put the comb in?"She settled back letting him work on her hair, "I think I have a dress that would be perfect. Dark fabric so ash and the like isn't as much of an issue for it." A date on their way toward the end, wanted to look good but still be practical. Eftemie Taj grinned faintly as he finished the brushing before taking the comb from her. A moment later he had it placed in her hair, twisting several long strands before looping them upwards, stepping back to study it. It was as they-he and Jaster- had both thought and the creamy color made her tresses stand out even more. He grinned, shaking his head. Not a word would pass his lips and he had no intention of pulling out the pad and writing anything. They would enjoy this night and all it had to offer. Not simply he and Karaskis but also Jaster and Cinderfae. It was getting close and soon there would only be the two of them left behind. Stepping to the side, he winked then moved to the window to glance outwards while she got dressed. He wondered if very many others would actually be going. If Nergal went to all this trouble, he hoped that others joined in also. Cinderfae She leaned back some allowing him to finish setting the comb, smiling slightly the goddess watched the god in the mirror. She got a strange feeling of peace in those few moments, a feeling that wouldn't last in such a time but even if just fleeting it was worth having. When Taj moved away she didn't hesitate to move toward the wardrobe to slip the dark gray somewhat shimmery dress on. Being of simple cut she slide into the outfit before pausing to see what shoes she had available. Her host had only ever worn thick boots but now that she was more herself, her shoe selection had expanded. After a moment of searching she settled on a pair of practical yet attractive shoes, with the world coming to an end it was a wonder she even had a shoe selection. Amusingly enough Ashe, her most manly guard was the one that saw to it she had such small luxuries. Stepping out toward the middle of the room she spinned once smiling as she looked to Taj, "so now sir Mystery, are you ready to lead on?" Holding her hand out she waited for him to take it, she didn't know where they were going but trusted Mystery to find something entertaining to do. Eftemie Taj turned at her voice simply watching her a moment. She looked very inch a goddess but he grinned knowing the fiery nature within her. Not merely the element. She would would have fun tonight. They all would and for a short time they could forget that everything might come to an end. At least if it did, they would go out with few regrets between them. Nodding his approval, he moved forwards to pull her into his arms and kiss her firmly. A twinkle in his eye, he took her hand leading her towards the door. Without hesitation he stepped towards the staircase simply holding her hand tightly. They deserved this night to be special and who knew what mysteries it held for them. If nothing else it would be simply fun that would lighten their hearts and settle a few things as it had with Jaster and his mother. He led her to the doorway leading to the street. With a smile he watched her face as they continued walking towards the burial grounds where the carnival was set up. His lips twitched as he knew she'd wonder why they were headed towards the old ruined cathedral dressed as they were. But the sound of a haunting violin began to filter towards them. As they moved closer, dancers and other people began to whisper as they spoke quietly or enjoyed the few games at the carnival tents. The strung lights cast though colorful faded as the braziers and torches flared higher while the skeleton of the once glorious cathedral loomed over them all. He was quite certain that darker things were going on just beyond his immediate sight, but they were of no concern to him. Some deserved their revenge. It was now late evening or full night as some considered, the flames were all an unearthly blue lending a surreal quality to everything and the beauty of the sight was not lost on Taj. There were many people walking around, some playing the games still while others danced to the side in old fashioned clothing. And yet others walked around as if lost and not quite certain where they were. He indicated a nearby booth that one tossed balls at a target. Large plush creatures were stacked around the counter. Glancing at Karaskis, he raised an eyebrow in inquiry. A faint memory of this game came to him from Jaster. His host had never been able to win at this game. *Hmmpft... If you think you can do better, Taj.* *We shall certainly try, Jaster.* he smirked back, picking up a ball. ((I moved us on to the cathedral grounds, Cinder, using Thabby's description. I hope that was alright. )) Cinderfae Taking a few moments to watch herself in the mirror Karaskis nodded slightly sliding an extra pin in her hair to keep it tidy. She didn't know what Taj had in mind but decided extra prepared would be better. Smiling some at the kiss and embrace she leaned in kissing him soundly in return. Her brow wrinkled some as he whisked her out of the Pantheon and into the night to some unknown destination. Mystery it seemed had something in mind and despite the worries that tended to plague her these days she was more then a little curious. Letting Taj lead her she followed along taking in the sights along the way. She heard the music long before they entered the grounds, "and what is this you have found here?" Pondering softly to herself the goddess didn't expect an answer. Her face lit up as she looked over the carnival a soft smile on her lips. Her eyes fell to one of the strangely blue floating flames. Before she had a chance to test the flame however her attention was drawn in another direction. Laughing slightly she watches Taj pick up one of the throwing balls. Grinning somewhat mischievously she whispered in his ear as he was close to throwing. "If you don't win this...I might have to play and embarrass you."Eftemie He had been focusing on throwing the ball to win something for her when the breath from her mouth touched his ear. A shiver ran through him and the ball let loose too soon. At first he thought it was going to miss, but it curved just enough to hit the target. It teetered several times back and forth before it finally toppled over. He grinned widely as he picked up the next ball. Instead of throwing it right away, he pulled her into a firm kiss. With a smile on his face, Taj turned back to throw the next ball. She had actually helped his aim on the first throw. He'd have missed entirely. He wondered briefly if she understood. Most likely and was probably finding a great deal of amusement in it. Carefully he took aim at the next target. Two more and she got her choice of items there or he did. He had caught sight of the tray to the right that had some beautiful glass bracelets in it. He was certain that she would take her choice from those rather than the plushies. One bright red and gold gleamed a bit. It would suit her and he was determined to win it. *She and Cinder both will like that, Taj. You better win.*Cinderfae Karaskis grins slightly watching the game, despite the current working of things she laughs. Movement out of the corner of her eye catches her attention; reaching over she plucks an indigo paper flower from a basket carried by a small child. "Good shot," she chuckles again, watching the pin fall. Did you see the way his pitch had to curve? Tell him to focus about three inches over when he shoots - it's the mirrors in the back and -
Cinder don't worry about it so much. I'm sure he can pick up on a carnival trick. Plus didn't you see how he shot last time? Karaskis' voice sounded overly amused as she spoke. A distinctive huff was the only reply from Cinder after that. Before Taj throws the next ball, Karaskis leans in and tucks the paper flower in his shirt. Grinning slightly and giving a wink - "for luck."She knew it was just a game, in this strange carnival...but everything felt like so much more as of late. So much more important and so much more to worry over. Eftemie He smiled in amusement as he carefully aimed for his next throw. The mirrors would through anyone off but he knew what was hidden there easily. Jaster was familiar with things of this nature and had even once helped Ijera set something up. It was a trick unless one knew the solution as well as the trap. Idly he aimed a bit off, but he knew it would hit solidly this time. Mirrors or not, he planned to win his love her choice. He hesitated briefly making a show of it but the glamour did nothing to him and he did not want to give away the secret to everyone else. Let them take their chances. With a slight smile at the flower, he winked at Karaskis and tossed the ball. This time when it hit, it was dead on and the target toppled backwards. With a laugh, he readied the next ball.
Jaster smirked.
This time he took twice as long and even acted as if he was unsure about throwing it several times. But finally he did so. The ball flew thru the air and hit the target dropping it as he had the previous one. "Well, you win your choice." the boy stated, then he grinned widely. "But I imagine it's her choice isn't it? Congratulations. You are the first one tonight to win." Cinderfae Karaskis grinned watching him each time, biting her lip on the last throw to keep from laughing out loud. When he hit it the last time she chuckled and wrapped her arms around him giving him a sound kiss before pulling back and listening to the boy. Grinning a bit and glancing up Karaskis watched Taj's expression a moment, "my choice then." A small grin came to her face before she turned to pull from the embrace and look at the various prizes laid out. Resting against Mystery still her eyes flittered over the booth a somewhat thoughtful look in their fiery gaze. The stuffed animals didn't really hold her attention long but after a moment she did rest her gaze on the variety of glass beaded bracelets. Her dress was dark in color so when it came to matching it didn't really come into play; pausing a moment she moved over to the display choosing a bracelet made of dark red orange beads, there were two strands of beads on the bracelet strung next to each other. Smiling slightly Karaskis clipped the bauble onto her wrist she highly suspected the coloring would look good with her eyes. Moving over to Taj her eyes quickly went to the other activities nearby. "Where to now? There seems to be quite a bit going on...sounds as if some of the musicians aren't too far away."Eftemie Taj winked at the boy, grinning widely as Karaskis took the bracelet he thought she would. That's why he had to win her the choice. It was the only way to get it and he was quite certain that there had been a bit of gold in the glass when it was first created. He was guessing but the sparkle seemed to yell such. *I'm glad she took that one. It suits them best.**Yes. Fire knows herself in the glass when she sees it.*The boy scratched his head with a laugh. She had a good eye and had taken probably the best piece of merchandise he had for the games. And he watched Taj, suspecting that he was not fooled in the least by their tricks of mirrors and lighting that threw most people off. "Well, have fun." With that said in amusement the child turned back to the next customers waiting in line. They probably would not have such luck and he'd make much more from them as they tried to win something that drew their eyes. Mystery watched her a moment slipping his arm around her. He grinned, leading her towards the sound of the music. This was their night together as much as Cinder and Jaster's. And he planned to enjoy it. Dancing with Karaskis would do that. Even Jaster knew how to dance. Saljin had insisted when they were in the Labyrinth. The elves and people there liked such activities whether high lords or peasants. The band itself Taj paid little attention to, but when they got to the side, he turned bowing to Kara. Then holding his hand out in question, he dared her to take his hand. Vaguely he remembered dancing long ago but it was Jaster's memories that he had latched onto when noting those dancing nearby. This would be but one night they would dance. Cinderfae Cinder or rather the part of her that was still separate from Karaskis slunk away from the dancing. Memories of over decadent halls and uncomfortable evening gowns came to her mind. Karaskis for a moment touched on it curious of what was happening to her host, the raw bundle of feelings caused her to leave her host be. Pain, fear, anger, hurt ... humiliation - the start of those that once hurt her started on a dance floor. Cinder was enjoying the night but she was not going to be part of the dance. The goddess' turned her gaze to Mystery, reaching out she took his hand herself she only had vague memories of dances. Hopefully Taj would have more of an idea then she did. Moving close Karaskis smiled and murmured softly, "lead on, and try not to embarrass me too badly." Karaskis focused on Taj...on their dancing partner that was also Jaster, perhaps her host would pick up on that rather then century old memories. Eftemie Taj did not hesitate. With a grin he whirled her out into the dance. Jaster's memories on this were already his own and both enjoyed the feeling of the music and putting aside worries for a night. They all deserved this and had in fact worked hard without a thought for themselves. A grin on his face, he watched her as he twirled her around the area. Saljin had been the one to insist that Jaster learn. Elven etiquette that it was, demanded that one know how to dance. And Saljin's family had been nobility and he treated Jaster no less than he had been treated as a child. The boy had known how to dress as well as how to behave with courtesy and class. He simply watched her, thinking that if everything ended now, that tonight was perfect. Nothing else mattered for him as he gazed at her. For this instant. Tomorrow would take care of itself. And he knew that Jaster was thinking much the same thing. There was still enough of Cinder there that Jaster could see her. It would not be long before both were entirely merged in them, but they would be together so long as he and Karaskis was. Taj was not planning to give her up easily to anyone. Cinderfae As they began their dance, the seperate part of her mind that was still solely her host relaxed. The dance was calming and they were with the one they loved...worries over disappearing and the loss of self were gone for a moment. As Cinder and Karaskis both relaxed and warmed to their partner their dancing came more easily, with a slight smile she rested against Taj calmly not looking to those around but only to her partner. For sometime they were lost in the turns and moves of the dance but the song slowly began to end and she shifted her gaze just slightly to watch Taj in the eyes. "I think our dance is almost over...what more should we see? Or perhaps..." shifting her gaze from Mystery ever so slightly she looked over toward a nearby hill, "we could find some rest and enjoy the rest of the evening together. Eftemie Taj raised an eyebrow at the temptation. It was one he was fully going to take her up on. Leaning forwards he kissed her lightly on the lips and began leading her towards the hill. This was their night. And it was also Cinder and Jaster's. Probably one of the last they would have. It seemed almost a shame but somehow he knew that they would all go on as they had been. Arm in arm and hand in hand. It just was the way of it. He glanced around at the lights and festivities, making a mental note to thank Nergal. The god had given them exactly what they needed. A refreshing of body and spirit while putting the past to rest. It was fitting.

DOTD 4 : Saljin & His Father 01.20.09 Eftemie Solo Saljin laughed as he walked away from Taj. He was going to get Delphine. Somehow he was certain that she would enjoy this place and the event now getting active. It seemed safe enough for everyone. It was haunting as night slipped down over the cathedral and the grounds around it. Brightly colored lights strung and the eerie glow of the torches and orbs floating around. He was sure it was something that Nergal had done, but what was unsure. The shifter had brushed by several of the orbs, but one touched his skin. It was cold and he had shivered, stepping away, but no harm had been done. But as he was leaving, the shapeshifter heard a voice calling to him. "Saljin... son... wait. I would speak to you." Stopped in his tracks, Saljin whirled around, face paling as someone formed in front of him. "Father? Is that you? I..." Shaking his head he was quite certain that he was hallucinating. "Yes, son. I am here. Though not quite as I would have like to be." the man nearly sighed as he hugged Saljin for a moment. "Then you are..." "Yes. I am dead, but on this night we are allowed more. I heard your voice calling to me. Are you alright? I was concerned about..." "Yes, I am fine. Let's sit over here and I'll tell you what has happened." Saljin stated, blinking hard. "I'm safe for now. Taj will protect me. Just as Jaster did." "Taj? Jaster? Friends?" the man asked as he joined his son on the nearby ground. It was cool but he noticed little as he was far colder than the ground they were seated upon. The shifter nodded, "Very best of friends, Father. Jaster freed me after I took the blame for a friend. Puck. He's trouble sometimes, but I like him. He gave me a place when Zrath was first looking for me." A grin appeared as he shrugged slightly. "Anyhow, Jaster and I went exploring and he found this stone. Well, not an ordinary stone. A god's essence I guess it would be called." "A god?" the ghostly man asked watching his son. "Yes. Mystery. Jaster gave himself willingly to Tajnevaki to help repair the state of this world. We still have alot of work to do. I've even been to space and other worlds there. Ran into space pirates. Brought back some people. A girl I like. Delphine. I think you would like her too." "Space? A girl? Interesting. What's up there?" He smiled watching Saljin. At one time he would never have imagined his son to have anything other than a life of running until Zrath caught up to him or he died. "Places different than here, but sentient beings that are both friendly and aggressive." The shifter laughed, filling in some of the details on those races as he continued talking. His father listened with some awe. Then he asked the question really on his mind. "And Zrath?" Drawing his breath in, Saljin shook his head. "I don't know how but he manages to survive still. I got away that day and I'm still unsure other than perhaps a bit of luck on my side. I don't age because of the curse and I can change shape. Mostly felines or birds but I've been working on some others. It has given me an advantage, but he has been using magic to keep himself alive and they are very deliberately looking for me. Jaster and I were attacked by some, but we did some damage and got away." He held his hand out to show the marking. "I don't know how much of this trouble the world has if he has even survived, but I would imagine so. I will have to deal with him if we get this all solved. But I have Taj. He will help and so too will Lady Karaskis I believe. She is the Goddess of Fire and I do not believe she will take kindly to anyone injuring those considered friends." Saljin suddenly sighed. "Taj and Jaster are not the same as they once were. The Tajnevaki now has both of them. Whatever he was lacking the first time, he has found in Jaster and Mystery is the better for it. And Jaster..." his voice trailed off a moment. "He knew what he was doing and what he would be part of." "So you will have them both then." The ghost smiled nodding his approval that his son would be protected and aided when needed. "I may end up marrying Delphine. I care a great deal about her." He grinned. "Gave up my earring to free her." The ghost raised an eyebrow and laughed. "Indeed. You must care alot to have done that. I wondered where the sapphire was. Children may have the same abilities, son, as that curse gives you. Watch carefully should you have any." Saljin nodded. "I've thought of that. But it could help keep them safe also." "My soul is eased now, son, simply by seeing you so well and loved." Getting to his feet, he straightened his coat and vest a bit. His clothing was not unlike what Saljin has once worn. Impeccable but old fashioned in style. For a ghost it was quite suitable. "Let's walk. Perhaps as we used to." Nodding, the shifter stepped into motion beside his father. The ghost began speaking of all the things he had wanted to tell his son but never had the chance until now. But as the night wore on, the father finally sighed, saying his goodbye. Saljin simply watched him walk away into the mist of the night, eyes shining brightly. As he continued to gaze after him warmly, the man was soon gone. He was suddenly thankful that Nergal had decided to do this. Now if only they could solve the problem of everything else.

What's Happening? 11.22.08 Joint with Skieborne Eftemie Lisana moved towards the Pantheon at a quick pace. Hasheem was just beside her as she walked quickly there. She wanted to see if anyone else was about. There were alot of people in the streets moving here and there with tasks they apparently were trying to complete. For a moment she hesitated, glancing towards the other building. In just a few days a great many things had changed. The demons seemed to have disappeared except for a few of the creatures known as oni. She had found out from one that their loyalty lay with the god of Mystery and she had yet to meet him. Moving quickly in the door, she glanced around. At first she hesitated as she studied the fellow before her with dark wings and hair that was partially red and a sort of indigo. Then she noted the tail and smiled. Part cat and part bird? Moving forwards towards him, she glanced over his shoulder. "What are we looking at?" she smirked faintly as he turned startled to stare at her. His lips twitched upwards as he faced her, noting the bubbles. He shrugged, then grinned widely as he was simply studying the architecture of the building. Folding his arms he just watched her a moment and then Hasheem. She burst into laughter. "Not quite the answer I was looking for. I'm Lisana, the goddess of Laughter. And this is Hasheem. Who are you? I don't think I've seen you before." The guard inclined his head watching the god. The marking on his face was unusual. Almost reminded him of something he'd seen once before but whatever it was slipped from his grasp. Taj nodded still smiling. Laughter suited her. So did the bubbles. Taking the pad from his pocket, he wrote, "Oh! Those little demons belong to you! I was talking to one earlier. She acted afraid but I assured her I had no interest in hurting her unless she attacked someone." Lisana frowned slightly. She realized he must not be able to speak. "I hope I didn't scare her. Have you seen anyone else? I mean I was looking to see what is going on now that things have settled and if anyone has any ideas on what to do yet to get him free of the pod."
He shook his head as he glanced around. It was one of the reasons he was there also. Karaskis and he wanted to know what was happening elsewhere. SkieBorne Malh'reth had been on his way out of the Pantheon, to go look for Lisana now that he knew where she might be. Head down, expression serious, he pondered the conversations he'd had and when the ritual should convene. Soon, if possible... in the next couple days? Certainly before the lotuses wilted. It was a shame he could do nothing to preserve them beyond the water he already summoned to sustain them a little longer.
Yawning, he ticked names off on the long fingers of one hand and very nearly ran into Tajnevaki. It was the sense of power and the flash of aura that alerted him... barely enough time to jerk back and tilt head so as not impale the poor stranger on his horn. That would be lovely wouldn't it? Trying to save the multiverse and you run a stranger through accidentally. "Sorry!" Glancing up, he frowned as he did not recognize the god but the one beside him was familiar.
"Lisana! Greetings!" He smiled at her before turning back to the one before him and bowing deeply, "My apologies for nearly running into you." Eftemie Lisana glanced up and laughed. "Hello, Mahl. This is Tajnevaki, the god of Mystery. I don't think he speaks. We just met and was going to see if anyone knew anything about what we should do now. Taj, this is Mahl'reth. He's the host for Forest, better known as Glyph."Taj nodded to Mahl, looking slightly amused at him. He bowed politely, smiling faintly. His wings flexed outwards a bit, but then settled down once more. he wrote on the pad, his lips turning upwards. "Oh! I hope you saw my note on the noticeboard. We have the inn nearby and it's housing alot of the people from Baadris now. If anyone needs rooms, there are some empty yet. Those with Cosine are in one half and mine are in the other. Some of mine were with Kaelin, Water, also." She was not sure in all the things that needed to be done that any had really done more than find a space to rest in or find a few quiet moments. SkieBorne Malh'reth frowned slightly as he was introduced but it passed quickly, "Indeed I am. Though I am a traveling entertainer by profession. Glyph and I.... met under not so amicable conditions." A soft sigh as he shrugged. He'd come to terms with this whole thing and even though he was still a little uncomfortable with the thought being consumed wholly, at least he had as much time as he wished before such a thing. Glyph had promised that twice now.
"Rooms? Oh, thank-you Lisana but I've quarters with Phaedra. I serve her in a variety of ways and she shelters me. It has been a fortunate contract thus far so thanks for the offer but I'll pass." Stepping around to face the two properly, he pulled a notebook out from the depths of his sleeves, "I wanted to speak to you Laughter but both of you is even better. We are gathering Gods to attend a ritual about a week from now.... a ritual where both gods and mortals call back Creation. We don't think just the mortal worship will be enough. So...." He paused and looked from Taj to Lisana, "Would you speak to any you know to help spread the news? And come yourself as well? Now that the weeks have begun to pass again, we have little time left." Eftemie Taj nodded to Mahl, scribbling quickly. He grinned faintly, shrugging, but then listened carefully to the information. Then his expression changed to one of seriousness. Him.> He fully felt that Aristogeiton's example should be followed. Creation had brought them all back and the process had taken a great toll on Him.
Perhaps this is the way to bring him back, Taj. Jaster stirred faintly whispering to the god. He had been silent for awhile and Taj was unsure if he still remained.
Perhaps, Jaster. But at least they understand now that He needs more than he had.
Lisana nodded about the rooms but then frowned thoughtfully at the prospect of pulling him back with all of them combined. "That could work. The pod has been bathed in lotus oil to help so this fits I think. I'll tell everyone I see, Mahl. It will give us all a chance to see who has returned also." She giggled. "I can't but think if he wakes up to a party, he'd wonder what we were doing."SkieBorne He heard the scratch of stylus against paper and frowned, "No voice and no sight. It would make conversation difficult I think." Reaching out, the mage touched the paper on which Taj scribbled and nodded as the words came into view, "The first wave altered my sight... I see auras now, no details unless I touch." He smirked as he looked to Lisana, "I would rather he wakes to a party then hatch and bring about the end. Glyph and I have already started mortals worshipping in the Throne Room and they've promised to continue to do so until the gods gather. Aim for a week today? That's when everyone should come together." Eftemie
He scribbled quickly then added, Taj indicated to the south of the Pantheon. Saljin would see that Yaxha was told when he got a chance to speak to Tempest. The man could take the message to ensure that Kaelin received such. Lisana giggled. "Yes. Yes. I would rather He wake to a party than the other. I think it is time to put things back together. And I want to return to Baadris to help those left behind if there are any. Their city is too beautiful to let lie in ruin. And it is they we have to thank for the lotuses."Taj listened carefully. Baadris was a place that perhaps he and Saljin would visit when this was solved. Who knew what was there if given the time to look it over? Another exploration to add to the list and he smiled faintly. He would have to look at this board more often. We should go there too, Taj. Perhaps, Jaster.

Attempting To Pull The Pieces 04.09.09 Joint with Cinderfae, Zero Dream, Ivynian, Thabara Cinderfae Karaskis looked over the room, it sat mostly empty. Yaxha was showing the gypsies that had shown up from her clan what there was to see and explaining things, taking the girls with her Kaelin's rooms were fairly quiet; the god it seemed had found some other business to be on. Erzulie found a place to rest against the wall, her arm was still bandaged but had been healing. Her expression was controlled and neutral if not somewhat bored; the demons that had been causing problems had subsided much to the relief of many but the warrior in her was not allowing itself to rest and instead seemed restless. Ashe stood back his hair that curled into flames bringing some light to the back wall but other then that he stood obscured, Jadá and Kalfyra where shut away in one of the side rooms preparing what they could with the remainder of the food; soft bickering gave away their location at times. She had left a message to Ankou and those others that may be interested, and had let Faran know that they would see what they could do for him. The human's lack of care for belief still troubled her and she wondered if she could ever bring it to him. With a sigh she knew she would have to go speak to him it was almost time to meet one of those that could make this over for him... Eftemie Taj walked into the room, raising an eyebrow as he glanced around. He watched Karaskis a moment, a smile twitching across his lips before he walked forwards to take her hand. "Is everything ready, Lady Karaskis?" Saljin asked as he glanced around at everyone. "Do they really know how to do this? I mean... I guess..." He ran a hand through his long silky raven hair and shrugged, violet eyes amused. "I've heard and seen stranger things than what Taj explained, but I'll do whatever I can to help."The oni, Hagenti and Anji, were tending the dolls still. They had asked Taj to obscure their boxes to keep them away from other eyes for the moment. He had agreed but they were seldom seen amongst the others around though Delphine and Triq were around and playing with the small creatures they found. All of which Mystery found amusing as they tried to figure out what to do about Faran and Aristogeiton. Hopefully He would be back soon. But if not then perhaps Ari could give them a clue on what to do to bring him back. For now he was their only chance, though the recent influx of people may lead to more options. More options gave them more chances not just for things to go right, but it was all they could do for now. Cinderfae Glancing over to Taj she lifts his hand up and kisses his knuckles lightly. "I'm going to talk to Faran hopefully Ankou will be here soon. Nergal seems to believe his brother will be able to do...something." The goddess frowned faintly more to herself then anyone else, she didn't know where to start and wasn't sure what Underworld and Spirit Guide might provide. Letting Taj's hand go somewhat reluctantly she headed toward the small room where she had met with Faran before; of all the things she was just glad he hadn't made a run for it yet. Knocking slightly before she pushed the door open she peered in speaking softly, "Faran, of what we talked of before. There is someone coming that may be able to gain insight into the piece of another that you have." She didn't let it show...but there was worry, what if Faran wasn't just holding a piece but was entirely the piece. No matter how frustrating and set against believing the human was it did not ring right to sacrifice one life for the life of another that may not even be retrievable. Zero Dream ((Okay, Thabby said she will jump in if she has time, but to not wait on her. Also, because I don't think I have gotten an answer - Ivy, are you going to npc me through this ?)) He had been nervous, knowing that this day would come, and sooner than later. Nergal had let him know this would need to be done, but then the whole idea of the festival and somehow making all of it work on the extremely limited resources they had took up most of the time... but with a noticeable payoff in mortal activity around the pantheon and, of course, belief.
But with all that over, worry returned - until he finally reminded himself that worrying right now was useless. This had the potential to go both ways, after all, but definitively a better chances of success if he wasn't frazzling all over the place. After he had come to that conclusion, it had become surprisingly easy to stay calm. He had done this before, after all, who was to say he couldn't do so again ?
At least, he hoped this could work. If this worked as he wished, then the most difficult, in his mind, would be done. He stopped a moment before the door, waiting a moment before knocking.Eftemie Saljin was closest to the door and moved when someone knocked. It was not their rooms but someone needed to answer. He opened it, watching the one there for a moment. "I'm Saljin. How may I help you?" The god Ankou was the one they were waiting upon and none had met him yet. This may or may not be he. At the sound of his name, Taj turned around to glance out the doorway. He motioned the man into the room after catching Saljin's eye. Suddenly certain that this was Ankou, he moved forwards to meet him. Saljin bowed slightly stepping to the side so that Ankou could enter. "Mystery does not speak, my Lord. And you may only get cryptic words from him when he does." A faint smile on his lips as he gave the god the information he gave to all. "Lady Karaskis has gone to speak to Faran."Zero Dream ((I was gonna wait for Ivy to post, but ill just give it a little bump.)) The Spirit Guide simply nodded in answer, then moved to enter the room. "I would assume he is ready ?" From what he had gathered, at least, he seemed to be quite anxious to get all of this over with - on that point, he could understand the man. He felt oddly similar. If this went on smoothly, then the most difficult of this whole operation would be behind him. At least, it was how he felt about it.Ivynian Faran hated this waiting game. Waiting on his captors to get their s**t together continue half-responding and half-listening. Waiting on them to figure out their story to try to get him to perform some unexplained task. Waiting for more vagaries and uncertain glances. Nerves and teeth sucking. When the scorch-faced woman appeared again, the corner of his nose twinged with disgust. "And will I be seeing this person now, later, in this room or out there somewhere?" Cinderfae Karaskis arched a brow at Faran, he was becoming an annoyance. A rather selfish one at that, they had many mortals within the rooms for safety as well as the demonic forces and now a disappearing sky to think of. Keep in mind he doesn't believe, and he feels kept as a slave still.Perhaps, but we haven't the time to coddle."Yes there is someone here to speak to you, perhaps find some answer. If you are willing he I believe has just arrived." Turning slightly Karaskis motioned to the door allowing him to pass if he wished to. Her own irritation over the whole set of circumstances leaving her without much else to add especially in the way of pleasantries. Somewhat conflicted on the matter the part of her mind where Cinder resided stayed silent. Ivynian Faran gave a curt nod of thanks as he stood up and then went out. With any luck, never to return to that room or its other occupants. If his luck held out, he may even get out of the building in the end. never look on these faces ever again. Zero Dream And there came the man - at least, he assumed this was the one. It was also easy to see that he seemed rather... aggravated. Short and sweet would probably be the best. As short and sweet as such an operation could be, at least.
But really, he kind of wished someone else would do the explanations for him. A selfish wish perhaps, but being the center of attention with informal situations like these made him rather uncomfortable, and that was when he often used the wrong words. Through it seemed not much in actual explanation would be needed - from what Fire had said in her letter, he doubted the mortal would care for specifics.
"Everyone is ready, then ?" Yes, everyone. Karaskis and Tajnevaki would have to be his eyes on the outside, so to speak - he hoped such would not be necessary, however, but he would not be able to tell until he looked.Cinderfae Pausing a moment to give Faran and Ankou a moment to look each other over she stepped to the side, "I'm ready to help with whatever you require," glancing to Faran she then gestured to Ankou, "Faran this is Ankou, I believe he is going to attempt to pull the piece of the soul of another that you carry from you."Karaskis glanced to Ankou after speaking unsure of what else to say, she wasn't sure of the specifics as they seemed far from anything she was familiar with. Personally she hoped that Faran wouldn't be too biting toward the other God just to make whatever the process was go more smoothly. Eftemie Nodding, Taj simply stepped to the side to watch and wait. Hopefully Ankou would be able to pull the fragment free. To hold it. Perhaps even Faran's attitude would change at that point. But they could ill afford the soul piece to slip away from them and to get lost. It was unknown how much time they had before Gehenna stepped out of the pod. All they could do was hope that they had ways that when all fit together prevented it. He motioned for Saljin to remain out of the way. But he wanted the shifter to be ready in case he was needed to help. The rest had drifted away at his indication, but Saljin moved to the side ready to do whatever he could to help. Ivynian Faran stopped before the waiting others, obviously this wasn't a far jaunt then... Something approaching a pleasantry passed. "Ready." To all sight, spirit or otherwise, there was no 'fragment'. Faran's soul was whole, a single piece, resembling neither a cut pie nor a broken mirror, or any other pieced analogy that the still human mind of the Guide coudl come up with. The soul was one soul: Faran. There were not other outward signs, no symbols, no special glow or runes, to denote anything remarkable about the engineer. There was only the knowledge that it was to him the staff had pointed. Thabara Nergal slipped into the room quietly, without anyone taking notice of his presence, or so it seemed. At least, no one was greeting him, and the attention of everyone present seemed to be focused on either his brother, or the mortal in front of him. Which was a relief, of sorts. Being late was quite untypical of him, being an hour early would have been much more common in the past. When he did not have children of his own yet, especially not that vivid green little devil bearing the name Sotiris. So.. This was him? The supposed most recent incarnation of Aristogeiton? Underworld tilted his head slightly, eyes narrowing, observing only for the time being. The mortal seemed.. quite ordinary, really, no different from all the other mortals he had come across. Though, admittedly, they all had had qualities of their own. Nergal only ever shifted when he realized something apparently was amiss. His brother seemed tense, but it seemed from surprise, shock even, rather than focusing on pulling and retaining the fragment of one's soul. "What is it?" Nergal inquired softly, moving to his brother's side. Yes, judging from his expression, things weren't quite going as planned, or hoped for. On the contrary. Zero Dream This... wasn't what he had expected. Especially from what he had been told. He looked and looked, as hard as he could, yet everything seemed to stay the same. Nothing felt ancient, or different. The man was a whole, at least as far as his powers could tell.
A whole of himself, or a whole of what remained of the splintered soul of the consort ? That he had no idea. He could not tell at all. Perhaps... They had gone on with this too quickly.
He would have to be the bearer or such news, and that did not enchant him any. As did admitting that he saw nothing. Especially in front of a mortal...
He finally let go and stopped looking just as his brother came to stand beside him. Better late than never, one figured.
"I don't see anything out of ordinary." He finally said, then turned to a whisper. "Are you sure the soul is supposed to be the piece... ?"((I am going to try to be more around, but at this point I am not making any promises, so don't wait on me. Ill post when I can, and if I don't, just assume Ankou is tagging along.)) Thabara "Well." Nergal paused, considering his brother's question. One of the fragments found - the one he had found, actually - had after all been a body wholly without a soul. "I suppose it does not have to be that way, though admittedly everyone seemed to take it for granted. Myself being no exception from this." That bad habit had been part of him ever since his rebirth, to jump to conclusions, to assume too much. "Why do you ask?"Nergal made no attempt to keep his voice low, or to a whisper even. What was said was for everyone's ears, including that mortal's. That Ankou seemed so secretive.. His brows pulled down, ever so slightly. Mystery and Fire had given the impression they would tell the man what this was about. Hadn't they? He bit back the urge to inquire if they were sure this even was the man. They'd had the pendant. And there were other ways to verify this. Cinderfae Karaskis inclined her head in a brief greeting to Nergal. Hearing Underworld's words she frowned faintly and glanced to Faran, after speaking to him on various occasions she could only guess how he would react to this. She had not heard Ankou's words to his brother but Nergal's seemed to illustrate some issue. The soul isn't fragmented... it is what they had assumed and spoke of after all. Well the other pieces aren't really souly looking, are they? Although somewhat more quiet from the blending Cinder's mind was still independent. Karaskis truthfully had no way to tell, frowning she considered the other pieces and glanced toward the brothers. "Ankou what of the other pieces, how do they appear to you?"Moving over toward the side Karaskis put in the three lined, twenty seven digit code into the grav-lock chest. The chest slide open with the soft sound of air rushing into the sealed area within. Inside was the bones of the welpling and the amulet. Most the other stuff is physical, you do have a crazy spirit but amulet, bones, scepter, er that mandrake thing...all physical. Cinder turned her gaze toward Faran a moment thoughtfully, something that Karaskis found to be more then slightly annoying but for now the Goddess let her host have some more control. It seemed she was onto something. "Perhaps all of Faran is the piece?" Karaskis frowned faintly the mortal would not take well to such information. And then the will and voice of Cinder interrupted anymore she was about to say, "or he is carrying it."Eftemie Taj blinked in surprise but then remained watching Faran. Was he the entire piece? Was his attitude so bad because he was only a piece of his former self? What would happen to him now? There had to be some way to repair what Samyaza had done. But would Ari be the same once he had been? This was getting more complicated now with the pieces than retrieving them had been. *Taj, what will you do if it calls for Faran to be sacrificed?* Jaster stirred slightly. He had made the choice himself. Would Faran do the same? *I don't know, Jaster. I honestly don't know. I can't think they would take his will away, but I remember what He said about some being kind. Others cruel. It could come down to that, but I don't think... I just don't know.* Would it come down to that? Or was there something they were missing? He watched Kara open the chest with the items within. Maybe something would happen once everything was together. Maybe not. All he could do was try to support whatever happened. Within reason. Ivynian You didn't have to be a genius to read obvious uncertainty or confusion. There were no bells or whistles, and this wasn't progressing any faster then the already snail's pace adapted some time ago. All of Faran is the piece? All the problems in the world for a bunch of 'gods' who didn't even know their own mythology. Some gods. "How reassuring." He waited, watching as the woman got some junk out of a locker and offered it to the new close-lipped wonder. More smoke and mirrors were certain to abound. More hoops to jump through. He wasn't getting out of this on any terms of theirs at all, that was plain enough. If it came to it, he'd have to do what he already hadn't had the courage to do back with the slavers. He just didn't have it in him to bite off his own tongue or find some strength to break his own neck....or something equally so drastic. He wanted life. He always had. Life and the thrum of machines around him like living in the throat of a purring cat. Hair-trigger adjustments and upgrades, puzzles and get-aways to engineer through his expertise in the machines room of a starliner. Maybe own a dock someday, where he could be the chief service engineer. How that dream made him a necessary cog in the idiot machinations of this freakshow was a everygrowing cloud of mystery and despair. He slowly sank down to sit on his heels in a kneel, heedless of the location or company. They all just felt like weight, heavier gravity anyway, each syllable another nail in some inevitable coffin of Bizarre. He wanted to ask 'so what now?', but they likely didn't know the answer, would give him an excuse, trade it to someone else, or just not answer. The latter the most likely. Ignore it and just talk about something else, not even notice that he had said something. It wasn't worth it. So he'd just have to wait for their pronouncements and figurings. Might be some stupid surgery or drink some drugged liquid and that would be that. Zero Dream He did feel slightly uncomfortable now, expecially after Nergal had spoken up. He really did not like admitting he was wrong, no, though to the untrained eye, it would not show so much.
He did turn to look at the pieces when Karaskis presented them - there was a certain familiarity with the pendant, a nagging feeling that he had seen it before, without knowing where or when. He figured it was to be expected, so the god did not dwell on it, and instead focused on extending his power once more. Another thing he wanted to ignore was how tiring it was to do so - expecially with how much he had done so in the short time in which he had held this body as his own.
"They are all wholes, as well." Oh, he really did not like it when things did not go as planned... but he kept that to himself. There was no need to add frustration to something that might already be frustrating enough.Thabara Nergal nodded slowly, gazing upon the pendant and the bones, then back at the young engineer. He could sympathize with him, somewhat. He knew what it felt like to be held captive. After all the talk of 'fragments'..
"A droplet of water, be it joined with- or divided from another, will still be a droplet of water." He didn't really think about it before he spoke, but it made sense, once he'd said it, to him at least. Things could be whole, yet fragments of something larger the same. If only this was as simple as joining two handfuls of water. Perhaps it was. Had he not seen the life flames of his own children merge in a similar way? Then again, they had not been bound to obj-- He stopped short before he could finish that thought. These 'objects' had all been alive once, and life was what was absent from all of them, except for this one. He picked up the pendant, turning it over. Runes on the front, and runes on the back He remembered it, though not the occasion on which he had seen it. He'd never known there was an inscription on the back though, and he could read neither of them. What would Aislin do? he found himself wondering. That woman's ways, while she seemed to be suffering from the same inability to adapt to change such as him, had been refreshingly unconventional. That, and she'd had a good deal more of common sense than he possessed himself, it seemed. 'I'd do something, instead of zoning out and trying to stare holes into the air, that's for sure.' The thought was so clear, so her, that he found himself checking by reflex if her soul really was fully gone. He still had no clear recollection of what had happened in the lapse of time between poor Annie being buried alive and himself coming to in Echo's rooms. Do something, he repeated in his mind. "We have not yet brought all of the pieces together," he pointed out. "Something might happen, if we do. If they are in close vicinity to each other." Nature taking its course, or something. It seemed silly, but trying was preferable over standstill, stagnation. He'd had enough of the latter. It had killed him. "All of the other fragments are there. The scepter as well, in case we need to verify things. And the spectre guarding the Body," (or holding its wake, it seemed more like at times), "Endenis - she used to know him. Her memory is.. incomplete, but better than mine at least. She may be able to recall something of importance. Something which might help us."His gaze lingered on Faran again. Some sorry excuse for Gods we are, he thought. Look at us, clueless, hapless. No small wonder we all faded. He missed the times when he had just known, when there had been no doubt in his heart. "You," he said. "Faran. If you would follow me? Please," he added as an afterthought. "I do not know what - or how much - the others told you, but if you actually care to know, I shall recapitulate, and not hold anything back." He paused. "However silly and incredible it may sound to your ears," he added. He could feel that man's Unbelief like something almost substantial, just like back then when he had encountered Illario. Still... 'It mattered not the incarnation. We knew them all well, bodied male or female, one in five years would be spent in the halls of the starless lands by choice. By choice!' If there truly was anything of him left within that man.. Cinderfae Karaskis stood standing with a slight frown on her face as they spoke back and forth, hearing Nergal she smirked faintly to herself before shaking her head and taking on a more neutral expression. She wondered if the mortal would like to know and to see more from Underworld, she hated keeping him here but if there was something they could do...anything, she knew they had to do it. "I'll bring the bones," moving over toward the grav lock chest she hit the keypad letting the top slide back onto it before picking it up. It was heavy but even without the cybernetics Cinder's body was strong. Cinder's own disapproval over the whole thing was growing, the conscious of her host shifting uncomfortably within her mind. Karaskis sighed and pushed the uncomfortableness away before moving toward the door standing to the side allowing Faran to go first and follow Nergal as well as the others that may wish to come. Eftemie Taj nodded to Saljin to remain and keep an eye on things while he fell into step beside Karaskis. At least there would be an extra pair of hands should she decide to pass the box off. His lips twitched. He'd have offered to carry it for her, but was sure she'd growl in irritation at him. More Cinder than Kara in that case. A feeling of uneasiness about the entire thing made him wonder again at Faran as well as when that creature that had set this all in motion would appear again. But the thing that bothered him most was did any of them really have a clue how to put Aristogeiton back together or were they all simply guessing? Playing Frankenstein as it were. He guessed they would find out sooner or later if they had done it properly. Ivynian They were indeed talking to themselves, none having noticed that he had ceased to be standing. More uncertainties traded which involved the bizarre, pale man who looked like he belonged to some comic book breed of villan. "You," he said. "Faran. If you would follow me? Please," Faran barely heard the words outside the echo of his own beating heart. He felt dizzy and heavy at the same time. His voice answered without his brain calling on his lips to move. "If someone could help me up? I want to know." Eftemie Without hesitation at the sound of Faran's words, Taj turned back to him. He had not noticed and bowed apologetically, then offered his help to the man. Had Faran simply gone weak at the knees at the thought or was something more wrong with him? Had the jewel and the bones affected him in some way they had not understood? Whatever happened he was ready to support the man physically if he needed to. Saljin would help also if they needed him to. Sliding his arm around Faran, he attempted to pull him upwards gently but firmly. Taj indicated that he could lean on him if necessary. Zero Dream Ankou listened to the others while remaining silent, to the most part, mulling all of this over until Faran's voice caught his attention - Mystery reacted before he did, so he simply nodded in acknowledgment and remained closeby in case more support would be needed. He was not quite sure what had happened, and more importantly what to do. The spirit guide had not really been paying much attention to his surroundings.
"Do you want me to get something for you ? Food, water ?" Asking if he was well seemed rather... pointless.Ivynian "No....I'm well enough. No more delays. I want to follow. I want to hear what he has to say, with these....other pieces." ((I apologise if anyone else involved wanted to post, since only 2 posts occured between this and my last post, but trying to move this rp along to finish.))) Cinderfae Seeing that Taj had gotten Faran Karaskis waited for Nergal to lead the way carrying the burden of the chest that held the bones and the pendant. She hoped that Nergal and Ankou might shed some light or that the pieces would once they were together. Ideas of how to use such seemingly random pieces didn't settle well with her and likely wouldn't with the mortal bound within the web. "Just lead and I will follow, this has been delayed far too long."Zero Dream There was at least one thing he could agree to - that this had been delayed far too long... and yet was still handled rather... sloppily. Things felt rather odd and foreign - if anything, he was more used to separate souls and bodies, rather than to put them back together.
He had kept on being told he was the one who was supposed to know how to do this - but he far from felt like such. Perhaps that aspect, the living spirits, had not been truly... his.
But right now it didn't matter - there where things to be done, and even as he felt somewhat irked to do so, he lead the group toward his own quarters, where the rest of the pieces had been relocated - as the pantheon had been deemed the safest place for them upon the group's return from Wellhaven.

Attempting To Pull The Pieces Pt. 2 04.09.09 Joint with Cinderfae, Zero Dream, Thabara, Ivynian Thabara „So be it.“ Underworld inclined his head slightly in acknowledgment, waiting for a little while for everyone to get ready before he caught up to his brother in two quick, silent strides, walking alongside him now. Not entirely insensitive to his sibling's unease, he reached out to lightly touch upon Ankou's shoulder, atypically seeking physical contact. „We have all been walking this world blind and deaf since our rebirth, naught but improvising from the start,“ he said quietly, the words meant for his brother's ears only. Though, if the others overheard, he did not care. „I loathe it. I like the paths of fate being laid out and set, events taking place as foretold, all in order. All as it should be. And yet,“ he offered a small smile, „it has gone not too bad for me, improvising.“ It will work out, was what he meant to say. Underworld, regardless of his glum and dreary appearance, was quite an optimist. He gave one small nod before he let go of the other's shoulder, slowing down in his steps a little and leaving it to Ankou to lead the way. „It is not far from here,“ he announced, indicating one of the doors ahead of them, „only a little further down the hallway. The tale I have to tell, however, will likely be a long and dreary one. I will try to make it short, but story telling clearly is not my forte.“ „Verdicts are,“ he added dryly, after a small pause. He fell silent, wondering how to best begin. Music, or Love even, would be much more fit to play this role, their words captivating and source of inspiration – something he certainly wasn't capable of. He was saved from this, for a little while at least, when they arrived that the door to the Spirit Guide's rooms. Much to his relief, the aoidei had successfully managed to mostly clean up the mess the children had left, and the little ones themselves were nowhere to be seen – still napping, he hoped. There was no sight of Echo as well, but that had been a common occurence in the past few days, with her preparing for the Ritual. „Priya,“ he ordered quietly, causing the white-haired feline to look up from her task of picking up the broken crayons strewn about, „a chair to the back room for that man. And have one of the others prepare some tea.“ She nodded, glancing at the group curiously before she remembered her duties and headed off. The dimly lit chamber had quite obviously been partially used as a storage room, the current circumstances of too many people living in the Spirit Guide's quarters leaving them with little other choice. There was a large table at the far end of it, bearing the shroud covered shape of a human body. The vessel of blood gained from the Grigori had been placed next to it, as had the mandrake root and the scepter. The shaman's ghost … Nergal stretched out his senses. Roaming, but fairly close by, never straying far from the fetish that had been his. He stepped aside to make place for Karaskis and the others to enter, indicating her to place the chest next to the other 'fragments' while he turned his focus on biding the ghost to join them. A struggle of will against will, a crazed, almost inaudible whisper, candle flames flickering madly for a moment with no draft apparent to disturb them … Nergal gave a satisfied nod. All the pieces were present now. „These are the other fragments,“ he said quietly, gray eyes scanning Faran's face for a moment to gauge his reaction. „Take a look at them, if you like. Albeit one of them should not be visible to your eyes. Few possess the gift to see the Dead.“ But the shaman's presence was an exceptionally strong one, and very close to his own influence right now. Perhaps … There was a sharp knock against the door frame demanding his attention, Priya having arrived with a chair. Nergal motioned her to bring it in, nesting himself on the edge of one of the larger crates. Hopefully the others would not mind doing so as well, or simply remain standing, but the room wasn't really of a size fit to allow any more seats. (( Sorry for holding things up. Making up for it with wall of text. XD; There's actually more but I figured it would be best to pause? Before someone stabs me. XD;; Poke me if I am to go on, PM, AIM or e-mail all work. Edit: That would be the complete wall of text. ))Eftemie Taj had merely followed, helping Faran gently as needed. He wanted to know the rest of what was going on. Sometimes there were blurry images of things long past on the fringes of his memory but nothing solid he could grasp. He knew he had not been around as much as he should have then. Now was different and with Jaster he had begun to understand he needed to be. It would not be long before Jaster faded entirely. He would have to speak to him again before it was too late. Both were simply happy to be allowed to help. His eyes took in the table and things there and a faint twitch of the lips was the only indication that a thought had amused him. This could be considered some sort of creepy room of horror with the body, bones, and mandrake so closely together. With Faran as the not-so-willing victim, but drawn with an intense fascination that could almost be considered macabre. A name came to mind but slipped away from him. It had been one of Jaster's memories of a book. Jaster suddenly chuckled, stirring faintly to look outwards with Taj. Frankenstein, Taj. But somehow I don't see Faran and these items being stitched together. Nor an electrical generator or a god of lightning to shock him back to life.Keeping his humor to himself, Taj turned back to listen to Nergal. He was quite certain that his thoughts would not be found amusing to anyone else at the moment. And this was no time for irreverence. Cinderfae Karaskis moved to the side setting the chest down, she then went about punching in the code to open it up. Hearing Nergal's offer to Faran she stepped to the side so he could have a look if he wished. Curiously she glanced over the area, wanting a glimpse of the piece that only those affiliated with the dead could see. Moving to the side the goddess chose to stand her eyes drifting over the others in the room. She hoped that something would be revealed, now with all of them gathered it almost seemed like some joke. Wildly unfitting puzzle pieces strewn out in challenge. Thabara „The reason to this,“ he began, pale hands folding in his lap, „is – in essence – a love story. A very long time ago, a mortal prince, Aristogeiton, won the Twin Crown's heart. The pendant you see was his.“ He glanced at Fire for a moment, hoping she'd interrupt him, should his narration prove to be incorrect. She was the one to have gone through Panacea's journals, not him. Much of his own knowledge was incomplete and only second-hand. „The Twin Crown,” he felt the need to elaborate, „that would be the aspect of Creation and Destruction. The first of us to exist, and the only one to remain when all others waned and faded, until he found a way to enable our rebirth. God, if you so want.”„We are all gods, the others may have told you, albeit recently reborn and not in possession of our full powers. Hence the awkwardness and obvious helplessness in face of the current situation.“„Fire. Mystery. Spirit Guide.” He indicated each of the ones present, intent on doing things the proper way, even though the mortal might care little for formal introductions. „I am Underworld. If you doubt … I do figure I could kill you and then we do this conversation over again.” That had been, perhaps, his idea of a joke. Or maybe not. „A spell was crafted for Aristogeiton, tied to that amulet,“ Nergal picked up the previous thread. „I love thee Untarnished, Unwithered, make us free Love being quest and quarrel, that you may always find me.“„That is what the inscription says supposedly. I have to admit, I cannot read it.”„After he died, he would be reborn, to rejoin the Twin Crown's side as his consort. The name would be different, even the gender might be, but it would always be the same person. How often he was reborn in all, I do not know, but the spell worked without fail until …” He shook his head. „In his last incarnation, he died before his time, his health failing quite suddenly and none of the gods able to halt his demise. Worse even, the amulet's magic had waned, and would no longer be guide to find his soul. There was, or at least seemed to be, no further rebirth. The scepter you see served as replacement to aide and point the way, but the search party never returned.”„The search was picked up again in this new Age, by several people, for a number of reasons. I have my own, but most – I think – were hoping that the consort's presence would help restore balance, as it previously had. In the past two – no, almost three years even – the Crown's influence has solely been that of Destruction. Even you must have noticed.”„It was then it became evident it was not a single soul we were looking for, but fragments, seven in all. It was the reason, perhaps, why all previous searches would fail. What caused the split, or why the fragments would appear as wholes, we do not know. A corruption of the spell, perhaps. Incomplete, flawed rebirths.” A little rude, that last bit, perhaps. „If you have questions, or should wish for me to elaborate on certain matters –” a small, ironic smile there, as if he hadn't talked enough already „– ask, and I shall answer.”He waited, eyes fixed on the mortal. Any reaction seemed possible, an attempt to flee, or perhaps simply disbelief and a burst of hysterical laughter. Ivynian While the man was talking, Faran was only half listening. Something had come into the room. He'd said that there would be an unseen thing, but statements like that were rarely verifiable. Something was definitely the word he'd choose. Faran wrapped his arms around himself while they all stood there like logs. Could they feel it? Boojum from some old samhain viewer special. Charis had liked those. Charis and all the other gunmen were probably dead. Lucky them. It felt like it was getting nearer as the blue man spoke. Ghosts, poltergeists and haunting all. The room felt cold to him. Faran looked at the others to see if they seemed to notice. The one who had helped him, the man nearest, he seemed mostly cheerful and oblivious. No luck. Maybe it would make ******** sense for the thing to home in on him if he was supposed to be some piece among others of this lost god-toy they were going on about. In the corner of his eye he glimpsed something, followed the miasma that blurred what was beyond it. Motion. It coalesced into a dim man-shape. A young man, dressed like he came from some 7th back world with furs and bits of who knew what strung here and there. And he was looking back at him. Plain and direct, eye-to-eye. Name?Faran heard the word in his mind, and he winced with the perceived volume, the demand of it. Word like a knife jammed into his temple. Then it felt like the blade twisted, Name?"Faran, " he closed his eyes from the figure and clutched at his temples. Cinderfae Despite that Mystery was standing close to Faran Karaskis moved forward. She didn't know what was happening but there was something wrong. The part of her mind that housed Cinder considered that the space sickness had gotten to him again. Reaching out Karaskis gently touched Faran's arm, "Faran, are you alright?" She glanced to the others nearby after speaking. If it was something new perhaps one of them would know it after all was their rooms. Perhaps just saying what the inscription says did something?I do not know, but it seems close together the pieces maybe starting to react to the others. "Nergal I believe bring them together might be causing this...but what it is," the goddess let her voice trail off, as with the others it had felt like stumbling in the dark the entire time and now still that is what it felt like. Thabara „The ghost ...“ Nergal's voice trailed off, not bothering to explain his remark further to those present. It was evident that – with the sole exception of Ankou, perhaps – they could not see the shaman, nor perceive him any other way. But Faran can.Underworld's eyes narrowed, and he watched them intently: Man, and ghost of man. It was obvious the shaman's attention was focused on Faran, for whatever the reason. If it was because of their relation as fragments of the same original person, he could not tell. It was obvious, however, the engineer had seen the ghost, was reacting to its presence and whatever it was-- He frowned, stiffening slightly, unable to pick up on the telepathic inquiry. But the reply … His name. Him and Echo picking the names for their children. The posts on that notice board. Names eaten, names forgotten. Why did it always seem to have to come down to names as of late? „What is it?“ Nergal inquired. Softly, barely audible, and seemingly addressing thin air from the point of view of those who could not see. There was little power behind his question, but definitely some. A certain sharpness to his tone, indicating that he was indeed expecting an answer. More than anything else, he was curious as to why the shaman would have reacted as he did. Best to not stirr him up if it can be avoided. He is mad. But are we not all, for even attempting this? They had all the pieces assembled, at least according to the powers of both, Scepter and Amulet, artifacts of old. What they were missing still, severely, was the Key. For but a moment, the god's attention wavered, distracted, his gaze lingering upon the strange assembly of items they had deemed 'fragments'. There was a key, quite literally, right there. Zero Dream Ankou had noticed the ghost's sudden interest in Faran and kept his attention on the pair. There was little he could truly do, really, and hopefully Nergal would be able to intervene should things go downhill...
It took a moment to notice the puzzled looks from the others present - he has problems to remember, sometimes, that not everyone actually saw ghosts... From Faran's reaction, it looked like he could see the ghost, at the very least... What did it ultimately mean ?
He figured Nergal's explaination and the man's reaction would be enough of an explaination - he remained silent, and he watched.
Just in case.Eftemie Taj watched Faran and the others for a few moments just listening. If Faran was seeing the ghost, then at least the pieces were interacting with one another. He frowned slightly knowing that if worse came to worse, he could do little to help Faran other than to support him physically. But since Ankou and Nergal could see what the spirit was up to, then at least there was some help available. All in all, he just wished that whatever was going to happen would. It would be easier on all of them, but also on Faran. No sense scaring him anymore than he already was. Mystery was quite certain that the man easily thought they were all crazy. Who could blame him? In these circumstances, everything was suspect. Ivynian None of the others heard the voice. Or the static that followed. There was no radio-set or communicator system in the room, unless the burned b***h had something hidden. She seemed techie enough to have cybernetic bells and whistles. Then the feedback in his skull overrode thought and Faran swooned. The spectre was gone, to those sighted for the dead. Neither faded, nor showing and gradual notification of magic or residue. Just....gone. Eftemie Taj moved the moment the man swooned, catching him. The last thing Faran needed was a headache from hitting the floor on top of whatever was going on. Pulling him into his arms, he picked the man up entirely looking around for a place to put him. The table with the shroud covered body was all he could think of. So he carried the man over and lay him down beside it. He could not imagine that Faran would like waking up next to it, but at this point, there was no way to ask him. With no knowledge for medicine, he glanced to Nergal and Ankou wondering if perhaps they knew what was happening. Hopefully more than Mystery himself did. Thabara Nergal stood stunned, too perplexed by what just had happened to react until Mystery's inquiring glance caught his attention and managed to snap him back into the Here and Now. He blinked, once, twice, then he softly shook his head. „I am as clueless as you are, as to what just has happened. Clearly, the man was reacting to the ghost, he saw him. This much I am certain of. But now ...“ He hesitated before he broke to them what he assumed were to be bad news. „Now the ghost is gone. I do not not see him, nor do I sense his presence any longer. It has vanished. I ... do not know what to make of it.“He stepped up to where Tajvenaki had laid the young engineer to rest, lightly resting one cold hand against the forehead. Warm, but not feverishly so, at least he did not think. Truth be told, he wouldn't be able to tell. But he did not seem to be dying, that much at least he was sure of. It may have been stress and exhaustion getting the better of him … Though, he had witnessed firsthand what the dead speaker was capable of, so he had his doubts. Nergal sighed, wings shuffling uneasily as his gaze came to rest upon the other 'fragments'. Had they just lost one of the pieces they had worked so hard for to find and obtain? It had been a mistake perhaps to bring them here, so very close to what was to become Gehenna. Had they – to put it in his host's manner of speaking – 'messed up'? „So … what now?“ he asked, withdrawing his hand and turning to look at the others. „I am, quite frankly, at a complete loss as to what to--“ He broke off mid sentence as he suddenly thought of something. „Wait.“ He turned hastily once more towards the curious assembly of relics and artifacts (and bodies) to reach for the scepter. The artifact's power should, at the very least, reveal to them just how many 'fragments' they were dealing with right now. Cinderfae Karaskis frowned, moving over once Taj laid Faran down. Reaching over the goddess held her hand near his mouth checking for breath. "The ghost..." Karakis frowned, she didn't like not being able to see the spirit, her gaze flickered toward Faran her frown deepening a moment before she spoke again, "they are fragments, pieces of one that have been split apart. Perhaps the spirit has joined with him in some manner?" Her voice fluctuated between the goddess, host, and the mixture more rapidly then it had been a sign of the increased stress of the situation. Ivynian Brought close, the scepter shone bright strands to each of the pices, save that one was subtracted from their number and that which touched gently to the prone engineer was doubly bright from the others. ((( it is my suggestion that for timelining, the characters discus here or later at your desires, how to combine the rest, but that the act of doing so be reserved to take place in current timeline after the return of the Crown. ))) Thabara Nonsense. For a ghost to possess a living being, yes, that was wholly within the realm of possibility. But in that case he should have witnessed it step into Faran, should be able to still sense it's presence somehow … „I do not think that is--“ he began to reply in a sharp tone, before he broke off mid-sentence once more, a distinct frown forming upon his forehead as he watched the soft beams of light form and point towards the pieces. „Actually,“ he admitted after a small pause, „it looks like you may be right.“ He kept watching the beams intently, but they remained as they were, no more of the pieces seemed to be inclined to spontaneously join. He sighed inwardly. Well, that would just have been too easy, would it not?„It does make sense even,“ he added quietly, mostly talking to himself. „Those two were the only fragments with a will of their own … And I assume … that I am no longer able to see or sense the shaman's soul, must mean it has joined fully with Faran's. I am only the Shepherd of the Dead, after all.“He laid down the scepter carefully before he turned once more to face those present. „Well,“ he sighed. „That was at least a partial success, though by chance rather than our doing. And it may have been the easiest part … These two were the only fragments with a will of their own, and the ghost was the only one not physical in nature.“ Would Faran be any different once he awakened, he couldn't help but wonder. „So let me repeat my previous question: What now?“(( I totally agree. o3ob )) Eftemie Taj silently watched Faran. The man did not seem to be in discomfort even in the state he was in. If it were something nightmarish, surely the fellow would still react by tossing feverishly where he lay. Instead he was silent. Perhaps time was what they needed. And perhaps to look for more information on the subject. He glanced to the fetish for a moment. An ancient tribal thing that perhaps even now found uses by others. Something passed down or created with the knowledge that it would be useful. It had been to the spirit or the shaman would not have prized it so. Almost as if he understood it was a piece of himself. So the two had reacted to one another. Not so with the rest. His eyes caught sight of the other things that were a part of Aristogeiton. Pieces of a complex puzzle and having them all in the same place did not always give the solution. They needed to be in the proper place at the proper time and with the knowledge that was where and how they fit. But with Faran in this state, what could they do? Could they really even put him back together? They might deter more than help at this point because obviously something was happening. Somehow Taj did not think so they could truly do this. It would take more than them and he glanced around at the faces of the others gathered here. Each had their own power, but none with the gift of giving life. Not as He did. *Perhaps Him, Taj.* Jaster slipped in quietly. *Very likely. Are we so foolish as to think that we can create what He needs when He is Creation itself? It is well and good to aspire to be like Him, but only fools would attempt to be Him. It was ours to do for Him in the gathering. Perhaps that is all. We may be unable to do the rest simply because it is not within our domains. The ghost may have been the catalyst, but perhaps now time is needed to allow the pot to cook while we look for more answers.*Wrting on the pad, he simply stated, -- ((I agree too.)) Cinderfae ((Sounds good)) Karaskis frowned some, so now two of the pieces were one piece. Her eyes drifted over the variety of things they had gathered, "they were all one whole piece. But now are unnaturally separated...perhaps like the ghost and the human they need to be able to drift back together, and become one again." She felt helpless, it was unclear how exactly to place such different things together. Sighing slightly she looked toward the various items, "we need to stop thinking about the fragments as separate items. Instead...they are a whole that is unnaturally apart.""Now to just figure out how to get them as one," a touch of human uncertainty touch her voice as she turned to look at the note Taj had written. "Creation..." she sighed slightly it was uncertain at least to her if they should wait in hope that another could finish what they had started. "If we are able, we should see it thought to the end, Creation will have more then enough troubles as it is when he returns." ...you mean, if he returns.Zero Dream ((I just noticed I had never answered to this. Oops. XD; Ignore me, just bringing it up to a loose closeish thing, at least on Ankou's side of things.)) This, he had not quite expected, he had to admit. Especially since his thoughts had mostly been on the other way around.
But maybe... maybe. He was the Spirit Guide, not Rebirth himself, though he just might have to go ask the firebird later and hope he could answer this, though perhaps this was not much of a far-fetched guess.
The god let out a sharp whistle, and a black-furred catgirl, who had been on vigil nearby all this time, entered. Karaskis, at the very least, would recognize her as Jinx."Yes, myaa ?" She inquired, though her red eyes fell on Faran in surprise. "Go see what you can find, kitten... A blanket, some kind of bedding, perhaps... make sure he is at least comfortable." The aoidei nodded and was off, and Ankou let himself lean against the wall behind him. Perhaps Mystery was onto something. Perhaps this was beyond them. Beyond him, as he had completely too little control over his own powers.
He mused, in silence, until it finally occurred to him that doing such would not help the other three any. "Maybe I've looked at this the wrong way." He admitted, somewhat bitterly, eyes on the young man. There was no telling as to when he would wake. "I know little about the concept of rebirth, but maybe... if we keep in mind that he is the most recent reincarnation... If we suppose that with his one, one piece splintered off... it would make sense that he would be the whole." Which kind of threw a wrench in all this, as he'd planned to use the soulless body as a base to regroup everything at once, though at the very least this side stepped the problem of having to give it life once more ?
Clearly, he had much to think about - he had been, perhaps, naive to think that this would be easy as he had thought.
