"Yeah, we're as sure as we can be, yenno. You meet her, you'll understand." The grin on M'cel's face couldn't be stopped. Tairoth hummed happily, his eyes swirling.

I told you I told her! See? I am smart! The black sounded pleased. M'cel laughed and reached over to pat Adi on the shoulder. R'ne rolled her eyes again and hid her face in her hands.

"Oh, come on. We're more responsible than he is." M'cel grinned cheekily at the pair of them

On the sands, Erelus looked up from his feeding and waved a hand to Shedrawn, grinning. "Congratulations!" He called. Acerath's frantic feeding had slowed, thankfully, though the dragonet was no where near done. The Blue hummed happily at his brehtren.

Zeren watched as the Brown then the Green Impressed, he'd hoped a little with the Brown, it had been a kind of hope he knew wasn't going to happen but with the Green heading to the girls, he didn't have much choice but hope in an impossible hope. Then there were no more dragons on the sands and only shaking eggs remained. He risked a glance to the stands, looking for the Wherhandler but it was crowded by now and he couldn't see the man anywhere in his hurried scanning of faces. He turned his attention on the eggs once more.

Watching first the brown, then the little green Impress was breathtaking. All of today had been breathtaking. The brown was mottled but beautiful, and the shy, odd little green had found hers quite easily. Such a beautiful, wonderful sight. Especially after the loss of the bronze. Not that anyone would forget about that for some time to come, but mourning could come later - after.

Seyari got up onto his tiptoes, looking over the heads of the other boys, watching the sands, where there were now only eggs. Not that it was a bad thing! He liked trying to guess which eggs were going to hatch next, even though he was often wrong.

His glance for the Silent egg returned again, though. Would that one be okay? Would it find the one that belonged to it? Or would it go Between like the bronze, and be lost? He could only hope for the best.

The brown was the first of the pair to find theirs. Morgaine was happy for Shedrawn even if she barely knew him. How could one not be happy about another candidate impressing? Of course she was still hopeful that she would get lucky enough this time around and impress. If not, well then she would wait til the next hatching. As the brown and his got acquainted Morgaine watched the green approach the group she stood with. She held her breath for a few moments waiting for the dragon to make its choice. And then it did. Morgaine smiled at the girl who had impressed.

That's four eggs that had hatched, three successful impressions. But there were still more eggs and so Morgaine turned her attention back to the nest to see which egg would hatch next, what dragon it would contain and who it would impress if any.

Anneke had, many times in her life, been told to stop wiggling and stop squirming and to Just Stand Still. And she'd tried. She really had. Today, though, the sand was warm and the dragons were exciting and she just couldn't help herself. Besides, the little green was playing, too. If it wasn't bad to enjoy the fact that she wanted to play a sort of in-the-open hide-and-seek, then surely it wasn't bad to enjoy it.

Or maybe it was. When the little green came toward her again and stood to put her paws on Anneke's stomach, she had a brief flash of the memory of the bronze that had bowled Erelus over, and her smile faltered again.

But then, then there was the sweetest voice inside her head saying Come play and eat? and Anneke went right back to grinning, so quickly and so hard that she might have strained something with the shift in her expression.

She threw her arms around the hatchling's neck and held on, tight, for a minute, then let her go, bright, happy tears standing out in her eyes. "We can play all you want," she promised. "After we eat, we'll play all you want!"

And leaving the sands? Yes, she was practically skipping her way to the waiting buckets of meat.

The Dancing Egg finally began to crack in earnest, as if the creature inside had finally decided it was worth it to exit its egg... only there was a slight problem in that, wiggle and tumble as it liked, the egg stubbornly clung to the newborn in bits and pieces, turning the hatchling into a goo-sand-monster rather then a hatchling. It was hard to tell where the sand ended and the dragon began with the mess it had created.

Frustrated cries and, finally, a bellow of irritation later, the little male reared up and shook himself something fierce, splattering goo all over the nearby eggs... including the currently hatching Gritted Teeth Egg whose face was covered in the muck, causing it to sneeze and whine, eyes whirling yellow as it remained where it was, watching the pretty brown reveal himself.

A pale beauty, the brown snorted and settled back down onto to all fours with a pleased expression and seemed to primp himself. Then he walked halfway out towards the boys... and laid down on his belly to start crooning at them. It... was hard to say if he was flirting, encouraging, or generally just chatting up the whole lot, but it was safe to say he was probably pretty lazy.

The green, on the other hand, crept out of her egg, flicking her wings a bit but kept them tight around her. And her tail kept curling around her side whenever she stopped, which was frequently, as if she was uncertain or worried about something. Still, she began making her way towards the girls, head occasionally going up to look around before dropping and continuing her walk.

Two more dragons, hatching almost at the same time, Zeren was happy to see healthy dragons emerge, after the Bronze's departure. The brown was funny in the way he got halfway to the boys then stopped, the noises he made were pretty enough but Zeren wasn't about to go towards him, no, Browns weren't on his list of possibles.

He watched the Green with sympathy and understanding, she reminded him of himself, back when he'd first come to the Weyr, nervous, anxious, as if he was going to so something wrong. His heart went out to her and Hers, as she moved towards the girls. He made a silent promise to himself to keep in touch with the young dragon, whether or not he walked away with a dragon. He might be able to help her rider with her uncertaintly ... maybe, if the rider was willing to let him help.

Cyrci watched as not one, but two more hatchlings revealed themselves from their eggs. A lovely pale brown managed to rid himself of his while a green slid forth from the nervous gritted teeth egg. Cyrci eyed this one with curiosity remembering it from the shell. Glancing between it and the brown she smiled. It seemed today browns and greens came in pairs. Trying not to chuckle Cyrci kept her back straight and eyes alert as she glanced over at the Deceptively delicate egg.

Was it even rocking? Would it need help? She knew that sometimes the eggs needed a little nudge to get started, but it was such a proud creature she doubted it'd be happy about it. Yet Cyrci wanted whatever determined beast lay waiting in that egg to make it. No, it would make it. Banishing any possible doubts from her mind she once more turned her focus back to the hatching.

Seyari watched the other two hatch with wide eyes, and a bit of a giggle on the part of the little brown having trouble getting out of the shell. It didn't seem so much the trouble was with the dragonet, but with the egg, as it stubbornly refused to let the dragon go. But once it did... Such a beautiful dragon. Such a gorgeous pale brown... And those noises... it was like singing. Of course, chatting or singing, it was still wonderful to listen to, and Seyari could ALMOST pick out a song amid the chaos.

His attention was torn between the beautiful brown, and the little green, making her way over to where the girls were. Such a shy, skittish little creature, but still... Was she worried? Or just nervous like all the Candidates on the Sands?

Whatever the case, he wished both dragons the best of luck in his mind... and kept getting drawn back into the 'conversation' that the brown might have very well been having with himself.

When the humming started, there hadn’t been many left in the dining hall. Those that had remained were cleaning or had been late to the meal and were still packing the cold food down their gullet. Kazairl had been one of the latter, and it was clear that as gangly and thin as he was, his love of eating was clearly not at the root of his physique. Even as occupied as he was with trying to stoke his stomach before he was late to his next set of chores, when the humming began he had been one of the first to react. He had been a Candidate for a number of turns now, and it came naturally that he sprung from his seat, flinging his meatroll to the side. He almost choked on his current mouthful as he ran to the barracks for his robe, but even if he had it wouldn’t have slowed his pace. Dragons waited on no one, and he was determined to be in place before the first egg cracked.

He was just in time for that moment too. His stride made up for the length of the trip he’d been forced to make for the robe and he skidded into place just as the first shell began to give way. His feet felt like they’d catch flame after the mad dash over the sands, but the bronze that came forth set a wide smile to his face anyway. His heart continued to race though the physical exertion was finished, but after the terrible scene on the sands the poor creature blinked Between and Kazairl felt he couldn’t exhale the taunt breath he’d taken. It was miserable when any dragonet went Between, but a bronze… Stifling himself to a concerned expression, he swept his glance over the eggs. A green, a blue, and a brown Impressed in time, and there was another brown on the sands. A green, too, but Kazairl had never been able to imagine becoming close to, well, a girl dragon. They were all well and good for female candidates and other boys, but for him?

There was hope yet though, even though judging by the eggs he worried whether there would be a bronze or not. The little brown laid out in the sands was an encouraging sight after the hatching’s tense start, and there could of course have been atypical among the smaller eggs, maybe even a blue, if it proved to be exceptional. Kazairl had been Standing for too long to rule out the possibility of Impressing even a blue or black. He was sure, however, that if he did Impress today, he would have the most spectacular lifemate of the weyr. There was no doubt his destiny deserved as much.

Wykla waited until two more eggs had hatched. The first ended up covered in stick sand as it tried to get its shell off. What color was it? Was there even a dragon under all that sand? She grinned. Ah a pale brown. Then the second egg revealed another green. The brown looked as though he could be vain and mellow. It was the odd movement of the green that drew her attention. The way she stopped and her tail would curl up around her. Well that was an interesting trait.

Orothor didn't know the boy who had Impressed to the Blue very well, but he recognized Shedrawn well enough as the Brown Impressed him some time later. It wasn't until he looked back at the Clutch that he realized a Green had Impressed as well, to one of the weyrbrats, if he wasn't mistaken.

The other eggs continued to rock and there were still so many left for the hopefuls. Another broke, cracking all along its shell. Orothor raised his eyebrows as the muck-monster stamped and shook himself all over his Clutchmates: hatched and unhatched. The Green that followed the Brown onto the Sands was a meek thing, rather than the excited Green that had Impressed so recently or any of the males that had appeared so far. Orothor eyed her and then the Brown that had flopped down and appeared uninterested in moving any farther, although his crooning certainly suggested he'd like one of them to come forward. Orothor waited a moment, but apparently the crooning was just plain crooning. For a moment, he had thought the Brown had been calling out to his newly-Impressed rider, and that some boy would come stumbling forward to embrace him. Apparently not.

Orothor frowned slightly, glad he wasn't in the habit of voicing his thoughts aloud for no reason. He disliked making assumptions and then being wrong.

When no one started forward, the brown's calling turned into a warbling song that trailed off just as quickly. With a huff, he rose and walked a few paces closer then settled down again... could he mean to be met halfway? Was he really that lazy?

The green, in the meantime finally made it into the ranks of the girls then stopped midstep to look back at the clutch as two more eggs began to crack, wiggle, and each popped revealing legs, noses, wings... all green! There was a flood of toddling greens on the sands now as the shells from the Silent, and The Streaked Sleeper Eggs were discarded.

The Silent Green warbled at her sisters and stretched hugely, as she was cramped from living in the egg for so long. And her sister, the The Streaked Sleeper Green gave a great shake, unfazed by the great number of eyes upon them. Together the pair started away from the clutch and came to either side of their brother, peering at him with a sort of exasperated air.

The Streaked chittered at him while the Silent remained, well, silent.

Cyrci let out a low chuckle at the lazy browns antics though her chuckle soon died off at the swarm of green. Green, green, green for days it seemed all heading for the boys. Well that was good, she wished the boys plenty of luck impressing as she greened at the three dragons before glancing down at the one green shifting around the girls.

If the silent egg could hatch then maybe the Deceptive would be soon. Shrugging her shoulders she resigned herself to wait as patiently as she could. After all she was at least happy the topsy turvy egg was unhurt and well despite it's little incident in the egg.

Oh good! The silent one he'd sung to had hatched well, and he had to smile quietly to himself. Such a lovely thing. And her sister wasn't half-bad looking either. Both lovely little greens. While the silent one may have been quiet, it didn't mean she wasn't healthy, and Seyari was happy to see that. Maybe not incredibly -happy-, but certainly healthy.

The brown cut a rather hysterical figure, being surrounded by his sisters. Who started staring at him. One of which was chittering, and the other, the silent one, was... well... her name.

Good job. He thought privately, to both of them. They would make good matches out here, he was sure.
