the_DDR_Master the thing bout the copyright issues, that doesn't even hold water. Konami and Benami alrealdy owns the rights to those songs so it really doesn't hold water. good thought though(No sarcasm) Copyright isn't as straight forward as you think. We have hundreds of pages dedicated to protect artists and their rights and licenses only grant so much control over a song. Licenses can be lost over different reasons and cause delays in production. There can also be a time limit over which a song can be freely used before a renewal must be made and will only be made if proven profitable. This business is far more complicated than simply buying and having. There are boundries you mustn't cross or your license is the equivilent of toliet paper. In response to another Gaian who uses Stepmania, I have Stepmania fully loaded with Konami mixes, but I'd still like to see, play, and own another DDR Mix since Stepmania can only get so close to the real thing.

In addition, Konami doesn't own any of these copyrights. The songs are licensed IN JAPAN, not America. In Japan, Konami has an agreement with Dancemania so they can use as many songs as they want from the series since it's great advertisement for the series. In America, this agreement doesn't exist. It costs a lot of money to license these songs, espically since a lot of them are artists that don't exist in America and therefore it will be very hard to find the record label that is relevant here. Also, some artists may not want their songs in DDR here. Smile.dk has said that they don't want any of their songs to be played in America.

Thanks to Original Z for helping with the copyright information. And as for getting a free copy of the game, very doubtful but here's to hoping.

Smile.dk makes songs such as Butterfly, Boys, Dancing All Alone, and a few other songs. My guess is that you'll get a reply in the form of "thank you for your interest in Konami products" or something like that.

If i get a cruddy reply like that, i'll send it to the highest position of the home video game Depot. that might do it.

Not trying ta' burst your bubble but I think it's going to be a little tough trying to get all that accomplished. Although it would be extremely awesome, I doubt they'd probably hand out free copies anyways.
And I didn't know Smile.DK didn't want their songs in the home versions of America. *sniff* crying

Konami would probably be in a bit of trouble if they pulled that stunt behind their backs.
