For creatures of Fear, dropping their weapons, artifacts made from the very same substance they were, meant absolutely nothing in terms of combat. It only took a few seconds to reform Fear, just like how dissipating a creature through a Fear attack was essentially useless.
Caelius did not care to disarm: he had done this dance with the Horsemen so many times before that it had become routine. This was not about winning some fight he had already won, this was about subjugating them, by driving them forward, making them believe they had the upper hand, and then nailing the Heirs through their weakest link. By dropping their weapons, they were conceding to his conditions, regardless of how sugar-coated 'truce' might have sound like. Even the Heirs were not fooled at his words, they understood clearly what the Hunter was hinting at. Playtime with the Heirs had just begun.
And thus the Death Hunter was neither pleased nor disappointed when the checkmate was announced. Oh, there were the stares and the anger from the Heirs, those eyes that said they would break free of all traps and snares just like they had done time and time on the Island. But a game would not be nearly as entertaining if the rules were not adjusted from time to time. He walked over, picking up one of the active daggers embedded to the ground, letting the construction fade away, the students for the most part, unconscious and unharmed.
"This way." He gestured forwards with one hand to the clearing where they had left the majority of the other students in mid-battle. "It would only be fair of me to complete my end of the truce." The Death Hunter walked almost casually alongside them, weapon humming agreeably. OOC: HORSEMEN:- Feel free to make an exit post as you head back here, read the gm post, and react accordingly. STUDENTS:- The barrier is freed now, but you are still too tired to move... maybe you should just rest here a little longer. Maybe someone will eventually find you...

Invictus seemed to at least not make a fool of himself as the other three also reneged along with him, reaching out to put one of his hands on Cymbeline's shoulder, his hand tracing down her arm delicately - perhaps even tenderly - as he passed her. He took only a moment to give the unconscious students that were littered about a lingering glance of disapproval. Perhaps they would wake angry that the Horsemen had made such a...bargain.
Then again, they would be alive to be angry, so it would remain to see what happened, silent as he followed after the Death Hunter as their own little tango continued.
It was a Tango that never..truly ended, now did it?

Wait. What was this he was hearing. As he weakly gripped onto Mitsu's hand, waiting for whatever fate laid ahead of them, he could sort of hear what was being said. Shun didn't pick up on everything, but he did hear what Aisa had to say.
It... actually made him feel a sense of shame. She did have a point there though.
Aside from that, it seemed like the horsemen actually went along with the deal. At least, that was what he was able to pick up on in the fact that the horrible feeling of being shredded was gone. The four and Cael were also gone now.
It was something he was going to have to think about later in more depth. Right now, he was just exhausted.
What was going to happen now?

No, no no no no--
Under the constraints of the barrier, Amrita's body got heavier and heavier, feeling her own fear pulled this way and that, distorting and slowly separating from the form she possessed. This was...this was bad. She wanted to call out to Riley and West, she wanted to say something anything to get them to stop, to reconsider. The horsemen couldn't give in! They were the ones that were going to help them! But, if they didn't...there would be no one left to help.
Why were they throwing down their weapons though, if the lives of the students meant nothing to them? They had to mean something! Alas, even if she knew what to say she couldn't. Her FEAR had distorted so much already she could barely keep her eyes open, nevermind work the bones, muscles and tissues needed to support speech.
She never saw Caelius take the dagger out; her eyes had gotten so heavy she had been forced to close them, but didn't have the strength to reopen them. The lifted barrier was felt though, and that in itself was a relief, yet the Patchworked Vetala couldn't move. She was too weak to regain control right away, and too tired to try.
So she just laid there and just let her FEAR recoup, unable to do much else.

Suddenly they where leaving, the dagger was gone but the world still weighed so much. She couldn't move her hand still locked on Jericho's like a death-grip. A few thing crossed her mind at that moment. What would happen to the Horsemen? Riley? Or the others still behind them?
She couldn't do anything about it right now, she could only lay there helpless and confused at the whole thing. Though her eyes continued to watch Jericho shifting slightly towards Riley's location, she couldn't see her but the movement was obvious in what it meant, was she okay?

Not being able to do much else outside of tolerate the pain of being pulled apart, Mitsu tried to focus on what was being said. It seemed they were a bargaining chip after all...and the horseman were taking it.
Suddenly the barrier was gone, the sensation of being pulled in all directions fading. Mitsu wanted to move so badly but her body wouldn't allow it. Her eyes darted up to see the horseman following behind the Death Hunter, the last thing she could really see was invictus' disapproving gaze. They had truly been fools, but still, if they had done nothing....
Her fingers twitched around Shun's hand, it was really the only energy she had to spare, trying to reassure herself that she was really alive and that he was as well. "Shun?" Her voice was nothing more than a whisper as she continued to lay in the clearing unable to even shift into a more comfortable position.

Savior stared blankly up at the sky, her eyes narrowing as she attempted to comprehend what just happened. They all got shocked and the people went away? Why did everyone else look upset, did they want to go too? Should Savior be upset as well, and what was West doing? The Marrowstripe attempted to stand up but was puzzled by the fact she couldn't move her body.
Clearly she wasn't trying hard enough and she attempted to move again, this time finding her arms didn't even budge no matter how hard she thought she was shifting them. Hmmmm. Were her arms and legs gone? She couldn't even turn her head to look so....so what if all of her body was gone?
. . . . .that....that was a super, super terrifying thought.

Shun closed his eyes, trying to relax. They had been released, but he didn't really know about the others. Xiu was back there, wasn't she? Feeling Mitsu's hand twitch a bit, he opened his eyes again to look over at her.
"Yes..?" he asked, hearing her say his name. He didn't know if she was just trying to confirm that he was still here or if she wanted something else.
A few of the horsemen words were still resonating in his head. There was disappointment there. Something, he was all too familiar with.

There was silence for a moment, Mitsu was just glad to know Shun was still there. His voice was at least a little reassurance in this dark moment. They had all failed...again.
Her expression was a bit grim as her eyes turned to look at the reaper, it wasn't hard to guess what was upsetting her. It was no doubt what would be plaguing everyone for a long time to come. The hunter had used them as bait, nothing more. They were too weak as Invictus had to eloquently stated.
"I just wanted to know...if you were okay." She said softly. At least okay in a physical state. They would have to deal with mental issues later.

In spite of his buildup of inner determination following Riley's passionate '******** you' to the Horsemen, once he had been shocked by Caelius' dagger West just kind of sat there, numbly watching the heirs submit to the Hunter. It was disappointing. He didn't want to die, but he had no desire to be thought of as no more than a bargaining chip either.
Once the five of them were gone, the demon had nothing better to do than look around. Hardly anyone was moving, and those who were flopped around like finless fish. West had heard Jericho's cry, and suddenly had the bright idea to try to bring Riley to him. The dragon wasn't very far, right? Best not to think about that and just get it done.
He rose to his feet first, brushing off his pants as a cover to steady his shaking legs, then squatted again, sliding his hands under her back and legs and lifting the mindflayer with a grunt. Hopefully no one had heard that. West took his time, shuffling over to Jericho and Sammy before kneeling again, depositing Riley back on the ground as gently as he could. He took a seat as well, but it seemed less voluntary and more because he couldn't go any further.

Jericho missed a good chunk of what was going on around him. In a sense, he had blacked out for a bit. It wasn't until the barrier lifted that he was starting to come back around. Something was touching his hand still. It was Sammy, he noticed, as he glanced over at her. The dragon still looked out of it. And she didn't look to be much better.
His gaze shifted over before him, where he saw West bringing Riley on over.
He looked up at the wrath demon, a sort of appreciation apparent in his eyes. Weakly, he reached out to try and touch the Mindflayer's arm.
he asked mentally. It was easier to think than to actually speak right now. Plus, he probably had a better chance of reaching her this way.

"I'm..."
Shun hesitated. The pain had left, and he felt like he was slowly regaining his strength. As far as he was aware, he hadn't taken any actual damage as far as injuries went. However, he was feeling the sting of disappointment and failure, which was currently harder to deal with than his exhaustion.
"..As alright as I can be right now," he muttered.
Weakly, he tried to look around at the other students. West was the only one really able to move it looked like. Everyone else.. was just sort of flopped on the ground like he was.

Jericho would have had a better chance of getting a response from her mentally, if there was a response to be had. But Riley's body had hung like a limp noodle from West arms when he picked her up, and it remained just as unresponsive when it was laid at Jericho's side. There was a lovely hole that seeped Fear through the middle of her body, and the only sign that she still lived was that steady, shuddering rise and fall of her body. It was a blessing that she was a breather at all - if she were an undead, there would be nothing to stop Jericho from assuming the worst.

There was a sort of chill that ran through Jericho as he received no response from his best friend. With a sense of uncertainty, he looked up at West briefly, then looked back to Riley. Watching her for a bit, he could tell that she was still alive. She was out pretty good, but she was alive. That was what counted.
Even then, the fact that she was in this state, just accentuated his failure here. At least the wrath demon was here to pick up for his lack of competence.
"Thanks for saving her.." he whispered to West while staring at his fallen friend.

"Hmm," West said, contracting 'it was nothing' into a short nonsensical hum. "Couldn't leave'r over there when I was comin'ere..." He trailed off. Why had he wanted to come over here in the first place? He squinted at the rest of the students, his gaze finally falling on Savior's unmoving form. The Marrowstripe's eyes were open. That was good, right?
"I'll... be over there fer a minute," he said, rolling forward onto his hands and knees and crawling over to Savior's side. There wasn't anything he could do for Riley at the moment, and if Caelius came back they were all screwed anyway.
"'Ey, Savior?" He waved his burn-free hand in front of her face.
