Chiyaki slid her hands out of her robe and looked down at the student. "First off, I do not go for cowardice in the academy. A ninja must be ready for anything at any given time. Don't think I didn't see you try and hide behind the other students. Secondly, as the only other student that has finished handseals, I will be your opponent for taijutsu training. Come at me..." The sensei immediately went into a fighting stance by sliding a foot back and bit and squatting down. As she did so, she stared straight into the kid's soul through her piercing amethyst eyes. Hopefully the boy took what was just said to heart and wouldn't give in to her taunt.

The boy's smile faded as Chiyaki scolded him. The word 'cowardice' seemed a bit harsh to him, but he kept this thought to himself. There was no point in arguing with her. "I apologize," Jin muttered, bowing low before straightening back up to see that his teacher had assumed a fighting stance. The idea of fighting her was bittersweet; he didn't have to worry about feeling guilty for harming his opponent, but at the same time he most likely wouldn't get the satisfaction of victory. "V-very well," he bowed quickly before assuming his own stance, his left fist and foot coming forward a bit.

As two of his classmates started their assigned training, Chiyaki gave Ruan and Odin the assignment they'd missed. While Chiyaki sensei threatened the lives of her late students Ruan caught the scroll she'd thrown and glanced the over it. 'Hand seals? What the hell are these?' The first couple seals, bird and boar, although did not look familiar to Ruan, he was going to give them a try. "Oh, sure Odin. It'll go much quicker if we do our training together", the boy said smiling enthusiastically. With a glance of the scroll he was able to quickly make the first two handseals and moved onto the next.
Chiyaki walked away, leaving the two to their work. As the boy listened to Odin tell about his father training him in the shinobi arts prior to the academy, he looked over the third handseal. Dog. Looking similar to to boar, Ruan tried to replicate what he saw on the scroll. "I hope we're able to finish this quickly Odin, I don't really want to hold up the class for my tardiness." As Ruan spoke, he fumbled with his hands creating the Dog handseal without a problem. I'm not too bad at this., Ruan said with a smirk. After his interjection, Ruan lowered his head and studied the next seal. Ruan giggled at the name, 'Tatsu, I'll have to tell father when I get home.' With a chuckle, he locked his fingers together to create the dragon seal. The thrill of completing the seal so quickly must have pushed him for a third. 'Hare, alright I've got this.' Ruan made the hand seal in no time and was able to move on.
Over stimulation was clearly not working out for Ruan. As he tried the horse handseal, his hands gitter causing him miss the mark completely. After taking a deep breath to calm down, the boy once again tried to replicate the horse hand seal, and similar to the last time, with no luck. What could he be doing wrong? The small boy shook out his hands as to loosen them. 'Come on Ruan, you can do this. Father didn't send you here to fail him!' Standing, the child readied himself for his next attempt.
The Horse seal was Ruan's new focus. Making the dragon hand seal he'd already completed, the child brought up his bottom most fingers and made a similar shape with his two index fingers. While curling his thumbs, he looked back at the scroll. 'Okay, I think I've got this one down too.' With a smirk Ruan looked over towards his classmate. "Oh come on Odin, you're falling behind! Be sure to study the scroll carefully, I had problems with that third seal." Ruan's smile faded as he returned to his training.
( +1 to Nos's next roll :3 )
Ruan brought his attention back to the scroll, he studied the seventh of the twelve seals. The boy got closer to the scroll to make sure he had the right idea. 'This looks like the hardest one..' Straightening his fingers first, he pushed them together and then checked back. 'Now it looks like I fold down the second and third finger.' Ruan chucked as he checked his work. Pleased with himself, he shook out his hands again and kneeled. 'This may take less time than I though.' Unraveling the scroll a bit more, Ruan examined it further.
'Okay, what's next on the list?' Following the scroll with his fingers, Ruan read that the Monkey seal was to be his next venture. Placing his palms together and separating his pinky and ring fingers with his thumbs, the boy raised an eyebrow. 'That one was simple enough.' Moving on to the Ram seal the boy molded his hands to resemble the description as he read. Examining the seals strange appearance Ruan shrugged. "That's what it told me to do..", the boy said quietly and then read on.
The seal of the Rat seemed to be next on his to do list. Clapping his hands together as a starting point, the boy started with his pinky and moved one finger at a time until he's accomplished the seal as depicted. Ruan was truthfully surprised he was having such luck with this training regimen. 'Lets not get cocky now, Chiyaki sensei looks like the kind that would wear your ribcage as a hat should you give her any sass. Slowly he turned his head to look and make sure her attention was elsewhere. After making sure he was in the clear from Madam Chiyaki, Ruan looked at his dark complected counterpart. 'Maybe I should wait for Odin. Cant really do it together if I finish before him. Ruan then knelt and read the scroll closely.Quote: Ninjutsu The teacher shows you how to do handseals, when you made all handseals without mistake you pass the exercise. There are 12 handseals:

Jin gazed up into his opponent's piercing stare. He tried to mimic her calm demeanor, even as his heart pounded in his chest. Taking a deep breath, he adjusted his stance, picking up his right fist to better protect himself. Suddenly he lunged forward. As he closed the gap between Chiyaki and himself Jin zig-zagged, darting back and forth in an effort to be not only unpredictable but deceptively flashy as well. When he was within range his attack was much more simple. He planted his left foot while bringing his right up, thrusting the bottom of his heel at the sensei's midriff with a shout.

Chiyaki watched the boy intently as he came forth. She went to grab at the attacker's fist but, surprisingly, she missed. In doing so, the hit connected dead on. It wasn't a powerful hit... after all, the guy was just a kid. However, the fact that he got a hit in made her stop dead in her tracks. The woman stood straight up and looked down at Jin. "Stop... it seems like you know more about taijutsu than I imagined. You have successfully completed the training."

Odin watched as Ruan breezed through the first couple seals. It seemed the kid a natural gift for this sort of thing, he would be a valuable ally to have. As Odin returned to his own study he noticed how fast Ruan was getting through the exercise, so much so that it made Odin fumble on his own training. He had been so flustered by his fellow students speed that he hadn't spent enough time focusing on his own. He went through Bird and Boar but as soon as he tried to move on to the Dog seal his hands would fail him. It was quite a trying and frustrating process. Odin sat and paused for a moment, reading up on the seals that were troubling him.
Odin was snapped back from his study as Ruan told him to hurry up. That had always been a week spot in Odin, he was a careful thinker and would rather make sure his next move was correct rather than that it just simply got done. However; Ruan was right, when it came to this at least. Falling behind would be more detrimental to Odin's progress than simply getting the basic foundation. He could study on his own if further progress needed to be made. The purple eyed boy went back to performing the seals. Taking his time he thought carefully about each seal forming them one at a time. The student got all the way to the Hare seal before fumbling at the Horse. For some reason the shape of the seal escaped him, further research would be necessary.
Ruan was pushing on much faster than Odin had anticipated. The boy had already memorized and ran trough over two thirds of the seals before Odin had even gotten half way through. "Man Ruan, you are quite the quick reader huh?" Odin laughed a bit as he struggled to get through his next groupings of hand seals. Ruan was right, the third grouping of seals was very tough, each hand seal seemed to escape Odin's memory as soon as it had come. Odin found himself misplacing fingers or using the incorrect hands whenever he tried to run through the seals quickly, so to compensate Odin unfurled his scroll, and began committing the seals to memory, very slowly at first. he repeated the seals time and time again until they began to form like second nature, and soon he was once more making progress, not quite as fast as his fellow student, but progress none the less.
As Odin looked down to observe his scroll he quickly made mental notes of each and every seal he currently knew. He tried making acronyms or mnunominic devises to try and help him remember exactly where each figure should go, or the general shape of a seal. Perhaps he was putting to much emphasis on simply learning the seals, but one day the seals would save his life. But knowing the seals was one thing. Being able to use the seals to channel chakra was in a completely different level.

Ruan knelt and continued to read the scroll as Odin worked diligently beside him. The boy watched his partner attempt and succeed with his training. This made him smile. "I guess, you could say that", Ruan said with a chuckle. From what he could see, Odin had finished around the first half of the hand seals. "The Monkey hand seal isn't too hard, but that Ram seal is kinda odd looking. I took it one finger at a time to get it right." Hopefully that small pearl of wisdom would help his classmate. Ruan then returned to his reading.

Ruan's advise was very helpful and Odin quickly got through the next few seals. "I see what you are saying. If you take it piece by piece it really isn't all that hard, is it?" Odin smiled as he ran through each seal with increasing dexterity and speed. With each movement of his hand Odin attempted to put a little chakra behind it, hoping he could feel what it may be like to perform a jutsu. It did feel more powerful to unleash chakra in combination of hand seals but Odin was still wary. His father had always told him people relied to much on jutsu and power, and not enough on planning and thought. Odin wanted to be able to out think his opponent, not just try and beat them to a pulp.
Odin wrapped up his exercise a bit before Ruan using his new found friends advise. Taking it step by step then ramping up the pace seemed to be the way to go about things. With his tasks complete Odin rolled up his scroll and placed it in front of him. Closing his eyes he ran through each seal to make sure it had stuck. As Odin performed each step he noticed something sinking in to him, an active form of learning. The idea that teaching and being taught reinforces information. The reason Odin had gotten the first few seals was because he was actively recalling them to teach Ruan, whilst he could get the other seals because he was taking the combined wisdom of Ruan and himself to come to conclusions.
It was simple observation such as this that made Odin smile. He was being observant of his surroundings to better himself as a ninja, just as he had been taught to do. This wasn't a huge epiphany, but it was still a good enough observation that Odin gave himself a mental pat on the back. Having practiced all of his seals Odin looked over to Ruan, he would be finished with his set in a manner of moments, so Odin decided he would just wait so they could go get their next task together. "The last two are really easy, just don't rush them and you'll be done in no time." Odin tried his best to offer words of encouragement to Ruan.

While unraveling the scroll to its end Ruan responded to Odin. "Last two, I'll take my time." The boy saw that Snake was second to last. 'It looks easy enough' Ruan interlocked his fingers together atop closed palms to complete the seal. With a smirk he read the description of the last seal. Tiger, one of the few Ruan was familiar with. The boy clapped his hands into the correct seal and jumped to his feet. "Yay, we're finished!", Ruan said excitedly. "Looks like we won't be too far behind after all." After picking up the scroll and folding it back to its original form, he stood next to his classmate. Ruan stood silently awaiting Madame Chiyaki's further instruction.Quote: Ninjutsu The teacher shows you how to do handseals, when you made all handseals without mistake you pass the exercise. Immediately Jin cocked his fist back, getting ready to follow-up, but the opportunity never came. His hand dropped to his side and relaxed into an open-palmed state. A look of surprise was all he could give Chiyaki for a moment, before he bowed politely, the look still there when he rose again. "That's it, huh?"
I thought for sure I was going to take a beating...
"Well, what should I do next?" Jin ran a hand across his forehead, wiping away a bit of premature sweat that had started to form.

Never being good at Taijutsu, he felt as if he would lose the instant he tried to punch her. Ten'nyo seemed real good at it also; she didn't look like someone to mess with. Hearing what she asked him, he smiled at her and said, "You look pretty strong for a girl. I'm sure you could put up a good fight without me going easy on you. What I can do though, is let you try to strike first. Come on, I'm ready for you." After he had said this, he went into a little fighting stance that his father had taught him. サンダー 天女 Sandā Ten'nyo Hp: 30/30 Cp: 18/18 MHp: 30/30Ten'nyo smirked somewhat when he said she looked strong. Well that's a good start. she thought to herself. She was already testing Kanjo before the fight even started. However the boy still viewed her as girl which at this stage in her life Ten'nyo didn't like. So now with him allowing her to strike first the young girl resolved to hit the boy with the first swing. How ever she wasn't really much of a fighter and just charged in without a plan. The girl had no taijutsu training what so ever and he swing was wide open and easy to dodge. To put it bluntly she had about as much fighting skill as a drunk in a bar. The only thing she had going for herself right now was a high stamina and that was probably going to be the determining factor in this fight. To practice Taijutsu, the students were paired up and sparred against one another. I try to keep those with a high strength together and those with a weak strength together. No one was allowed to use ninjutsu or genjutsu during the fight. Taijutsu was the only techniques used. They kept fighting until 1 Hp was left. This was not what he thought she would be like in a taijutsu battle. Her father had to have taught her some taijutsu. By the time he had come back from his thoughts, she was pretty close to him. He wouldn't be humiliated by such an unprofessional punch. Thinking about what his father had taught him about fighting, he side stepped her 'punch', jumped back a bit then charged at her.
