Freya buried her face against Herryk, rubbing it left and right. Her nose was pressed in each direction as she moved, and it made her want to laugh. She smushed her lips against his skin, not kissing so much as just flattening her features against him, and giggled.

"Do yeh? Yeh likes being mine? Yeh sure about that?"

She poked his chest with one finger. "I want to tells yeh something, Herryk. Are yeh listening? Because it's very important." The amusement was gone. "I'm a mess, baby boil. And yehr a sweet, innocent, beautiful soul. I don't wants to drags yeh down with me, but I gots to admit." Her head ducked down into his neck, and buried there, speaking against his skin. "It's tempting."

Herryk snorted. He punctuated that snort with a second, louder snort.

"Freya says she is a mess. Freya knows her mother and father, Freya knows her sisters. Freya knows where she came from and Freya is very loved, yes? By her family, but her baby Hel." There was no amusement in his voice when he continued speaking.

"Herryk is a mess. Herryk has no family. Herryk remembers nothing from the time before. The only thing that Herryk knows is that when he looks at Freya, it makes things better. When Freya laughs, Herryk forgets that he cannot remember the time before. And sometimes, when Herryk looks at Freya? Sometimes he thinks he can almost remember." He shook his head.

"If Freya is a mess, Herryk is a mess. Before meeting Freya, Herryk had nothing. Now Herryk has ... he has everything."

Freya's lighthearted expression fell, much like her heart did. She curled tighter around him, her frown able to be felt against his skin. Not only did his words make her sound ungrateful for all that she had, but they also sounded like Herryk wanted her for.. all the wrong reasons.

Really, this relationship seemed riddled with problems, and it had only just begun.

"I'm sorry. I knows yeh wish yeh had a past. But I wish I didn't. I loves Hel, and I wouldn't want to lose her, but, just, sometimes.."

She uncurled, just slightly, and her hand curled around her stomach.

"I hates to say this, Herryk, but yehr making a mistake. Everytime yeh tells me I make yeh remembers, it means yehr with me for that." Her hand rose, the small stain of blood kissing her fingertips. "And not for me."

He had to inhale deeply to regain control of his emotions. Rage was burning hot and dark in his belly and Herryk was determined to tamp it down. It was slowly dissolved by a sadness that Herryk couldn't rid himself of.

Slowly he sat up from the bed. His gaze went from her stained fingertips to her face before he turned away completely and rose to his feet.

"Freya is wrong."

Spoken with such conviction, darkened by undertones of absolute fury. His fists clenched and unclenched as he strode from one end of the cozy room to the other. He had to calm down.

He couldn't.

"Freya thinks she knows all of this. Freya thinks she knows the way Herryk feels. Freya thinks she knows all of the things Herryk wants." He stopped at the foot of the bed, slashing his hand through the air.

"Freya has no idea. Freya is afraid. Herryk does not know why. Herryk has already promised he would never turn his back on Freya again, and Herryk feels that sometimes Freya wants exactly that." He shook his head, his mouth contorted in a fierce frown.

"Herryk is not with Freya because ... because she helps Herryk remember. Herryk is with Freya because of her laugh and the way her eyes move up when she smiles and the way she smells but most importantly," he paused and moved over to the bed to lean over her, bracing one hand next to her head while grasping her bloodied fingers with the other. He brought those fingers to his lips, the small stain of blood transferring to his own skin, "most importantly, Freya, Herryk is here because of how Freya makes Herryk feel."

"Not memories," he brought her hand to his chest, palm down, "but here. When Herryk lost Freya in the mirror room, he was afraid. When Herryk lost Freya in the trap room, he was terrified. The thought that Herryk might never see his Freya again..." Herryk turned his face away.

"If Freya regrets agreeing to be Herryk's ghoulfriend... Herryk understands. There is no need to tell Herryk that he is making a mistake. Freya can be honest." He reached down to pick his cape up from the floor. "Just like Herryk is being honest, yes?"

The feel of Herryk's cool body pulling away from her felt like a sting against her skin. Was that anger in his eyes? She couldn't blame him, all she'd done is tell him things he probably didn't want to hear. He kept moving farther and farther away from her, and Freya had to wonder if maybe telling him the truth was the wrong choice. All she could feel was pain when he walked away, why did she think it was right to put herself on the chopping block? She should have been more selfish.

But as she listened, she started to get confused. Confusion turned to anger, and anger turned to something deeper, something more painful that she couldn't name. Her blood stained hand rested on her heart, rubbing it as if she could somehow make the pain stop. She didn't have long - he pulled her hand away and pressed them against his lips, turning them darker than normal.

She all but lost it when he moved her hand to rest on his heart.

His Freya. She realized, now, why he said he liked the sound of it so much. It sounded right.

Freya knew he would chastise her for moving, so she knew she had to be quick. She got up onto her knees when he turned away, and as soon as he righted himself from picking up his cape, she was there, waiting for him, pulling him very demandingly back into her arms. She hugged him around his middle, barely managing to get around but making do with what she could.

"I will never regret yeh, Herryk." She whispered into his chest, broken only once by a heaving sigh. "I will never, ever, ever regret yeh. Yehr the best thing that's ever happened to me."

She regretted not be selfish before. She was not going to make that same mistake twice.

"Don't ever leaves me."

"Freya," Herryk mumbled, lifting his hands up as if he hadn't the slightest clue where to place them. Finally he rested one on her shoulder, the other pressing gently against the back of her head. He'd seen the blood, he could taste it on his tongue now. She shouldn't be moving and yet since his arrival here that's all she'd been doing.

"Herryk is not going anywhere." His dark skin looked even darker in comparison to her pale hair and paler skin. It was one of so many things he adored about the valkyrie. He only hoped that she would remember these words when she found out that he was going to the wedding that Hel had invited him to.

"Now, let Herryk see what you've done to your stomach, silly ladybird," he said lightly, "and then we will finish packing your bags. After that Herryk will leave so Freya can get her rest."

Freya pulled away, sat down on her haunches, and looked up at him with the most pitiful expression her face had ever been graced with. But as soon as he'd finished speaking, she looked like she was about to hop back up onto her knees in protest. After he was done..

"But yeh just sa~id-" She whined, wrapping her hand around his forearm - or at least some of it - and tugging. "Yeh said yeh wouldn't leaves me.."

One black eyebrow slowly lifted. It sounded like she wanted him to stay with her.

Here.

Here in this bed.

Okay, he could manage that, right?

"Herryk will stay until Freya falls asleep?"

Freya let his arm go, and sat back on her haunches, only to lie back on the bed. The bandages had ragged red lines running down them - broken stitches, small parts of the gash had re-opened, minor problems that looked nastier than they were.

"That's okay." She breathed out, letting him see her bandages as she laid still.

"Herryk?" A small voice piped out. "Are yeh.. are yeh terribly mad at me?"
PostPosted: Fri Nov 11, 2011 8:07 pm

"No," Herryk said softly, leaning forward to brush his cool lips against her forehead. He tapped a finger against her lips as he pulled back. "Herryk is not mad at all, Freya." A soft smile flirted with his lips.

He loved her. He had to. This couldn't be anything other than love. The thought of living a day without her in his life hurt too much to even contemplate. Rage had threatened to tear him apart when Freya had told him he was making a mistake. He would willingly give his own life in exchange for hers. Did she feel the same way? Herryk didn't know. He would never know unless one of them said it -- he just didn't have the confidence to tell her, not now. Not after this last conversation. It didn't matter anyway.

"Where are the bandages, sweetling? Herryk will do his best to fix Freya up."

She settled when she heard that No, as if something inside slowly, effortlessly slid together, like puzzle pieces that had refused to click until that moment. She didn't know why that one, simple word had made her feel that way, but it had. Her hand clung to a swath of covers, and she felt her skin warm unnaturally. Therefore, even though he'd asked her a question, she ignored it for as long as she could. She didn't want this moment to end. Everything was moving so fast, always getting away from her. Slipping right through her fingers before she could enjoy it..

But not this moment. Not this time. She refused to let it get away from her so quickly.

There were several long and wonderful minutes before she actually answered his question with a reluctant, sighed whisper.

"Under the beds."
PostPosted: Fri Nov 11, 2011 8:48 pm

Herryk waited patiently for her to answer, just... staring at her face.

When she finally spoke, Herryk tore his gaze away from her long enough to kneel and tug a box of bandages and other supplies out from under the bed. He settled them next to Freya's hip, pausing with his hands still clasping the box.

"How, ah.." he cleared his throat, "how does Freya want to do this, hmm?"

Freya pulled out the bandage slowly, revealing the pink scar - there were just parts, no more than a centimeter long each, that had tore open when the stitches broke. Little rivulets of blood had already begun to coagulate now that it had been covered and soaked by the bandages for a time.

"Just gets some new ones, and lay them down, then you sticks them on with the tape. It's not so hards, I did it a few times for myself already. If yeh feel.. like yeh don't want to do it, just tell me."

Her hand itched to cover her stomach.
PostPosted: Fri Nov 11, 2011 9:49 pm

The draugr grunted, carefully poking around the box of bandages. He pulled out a few gauzy bits, tenderly laying them down as Freya had explained before grabbing the tape. Such a strange combination -- golden skin was flawless around that pink, weeping scar.

It annoyed Herryk. He should have done better.

Shrugging off the errant thought, Herryk finished taping the gauze down to her skin.

"Is this good?" He wasn't sure. It was the first time he'd ever bandaged anyone up, ever.

As soon as Freya felt the bandage stick to her skin, her arm reached around to cover it instinctively, and she nodded. "Is perfect. Thanks yeh, baby boil."

She shifted over, giving Herryk the majority of the bed, as he was a big boil and clearly needed more room than she was allowing him with her clinginess. The new bandage would need her to be less clingy, after all - so it was only fair to make room for him.

"Yeh going to puts me to sleep now, right?" She teased, sticking her tongue out. "I don't sleeps easy, yeh know. In fact I'm usually up all nights on the interwebs. So if yeh manage to gets me sleeping, it will be a miracle."
