"Huh, ya think so?" the other state said with a grin while he stepped out on the ground - there were trees around the place with autumn leaves that had fallen or were ready to do so when the frost came, and some hills due to being in the southwestern region of the state.

"I've been here for a few years now, been kind of cautious though that none of my politicians find me though! Ya know how that is, right?" his laughter came off - different. But it was hard to pin down why it was, it sounded resentful and disgusted, but the tone changed once again to it's normal on that Tennessee was likely used to hearing.

"But hey you're probably are cold huh? Trust me, it's bit warmer in there" he said with a slight wave walking ahead opening the door for the other state, "In my opinion, it's all about how ya dress, what ya drink, and how well insulated your house is to survive up here!" And to be fair, he saw this as some truth. Specifically, the drinking bit.

"Um... I guess they can be kind of annoying sometimes," Tennessee admitted although the only time he'd ever purposely hidden from his politicians was during the whole Reconstruction mess when he either thought they were carpetbaggers/scallywags trying to take advantage of him or secretly KKK members who might hurt him for his 'own good' since they naturally had known what was best for the state. His mind briefly wondered back to the injury under Wisconsin's hair but tried to shake it off. Surely Wisconsin wasn't being abused by his own government. That wasn't something likely to happen in this day and age, right? Of course not. He was just over thinking things again.

"I'm not cold," Tennessee tried to deny although the goose bumps on his arms gave him away. He didn't want to seem like a wuss, but he wasn't used to this cooler climate at all. The Volunteer State was probably only a few degrees from shivers and tried his best not to show it although he did seem very happy to get inside. If he lived in this kind of weather maybe he'd be driven to drink more often too.

"I can understand, I guess!" Wisconsin laughed opening the door while they waltzed right into the kitchen, the house did look better on the inside. While it did show it's age, it was still clean and in good condition compared to the look it had outside. A decently sized table, four chairs, a sink in surprisingly good condition without a scratch on it, stove, and two refrigerators - one smaller than another. Why had two, was a great mystery.

That being said, it was warmer in the house.

Of course, it wasn't perfect, there was an empty bottle of beer on the table but it was still nice enough. Apparently the Badger State preferred to keep it looking tidy on the inside more than the outside which made it look almost desolate. He chuckled looking back Tennessee with a small grin, "Yeah, ya are handling yourself really well."

It was hard to say if he was understating that or not because of his tone was exactly the same.

"Thanks, I think," Tennessee said as he looked around the house curiously. He was impressed by how well kept it was on the inside and not messy at all. Given Wisconsin's drinking habits he had expected far more than one empty beer can laying out. "So none of your politicians know you live here? It must be hard to keep that a secret... I can't imagine my boss not knowin' where I live."

He shifted his duffel on his shoulder as he looked back at Wisconsin. "Mind if I set this down?" he asked in case the Badger State had a specific place he wanted Tennessee to dump his luggage.

Oh if Tennessee knew that Wisconsin cleaned it up a bit before he went to pick him up, it might be a different story. The beer bottles were almost built up like a fortress on there.

While playing with his dark hair again, he made a small laugh, "Yeah, and I'm pretty damn thankful for that." This may have also explained the issue of why he asked if the other state had a human name.

"Oh, ya can sit wherever ya like and put your stuff anywhere!" Twisting his hair around while he said that, soon cracking his fingers out of nervous habit, "Nothing too fancy, but I never was a fancy person to begin with!"

"Some people have really strict rules about that kinda stuff at their house," Tennessee said as he shrugged off his duffel somewhere out of the way. "Good to see you're not like that. I think it's hard to relax when people worry about every little thing."

He shifted Nashville off his back and checked his guitar to make sure it hadn't gotten any scratches or needed any extra tuning after the long trip. Tennessee knew Nashville was tough but after that last big flood there were still some places he needed to repair. Until Nashville was totally fixed he was treating his guitar with extra care even though before he wouldn't have hesitated to bash it over someone's head like a club in the event of a fight. Tennessee might not be able to legally carry guns everywhere, but no one ever tried to stop him from carrying his guitar.

"I wouldn't know honestly, I haven't really visited anyone to tell ya the truth," Wisconsin was telling the truth about this, he didn't visit many often and in return - save Illinois or Minnesota, who they often met by sheer chance outside of meetings - he never really saw face to face.

"So, do ya want anything to eat or anything? I mean, if you're hungry and all!" He stopped playing with his hair as he said this, no longer feeling too anxious in this situation, "I can maybe make ya something to eat, if ya like as long as ya can tell me what ya have in mind!"
PostPosted: Mon Nov 07, 2011 3:54 pm

"You haven't?" Tennessee couldn't keep the shock from his face. He couldn't imagine not having lots of visitors nor being expected to visit with others in return. The Volunteer State shook his head in partial disbelief. "You need to get out more if you don't mind my sayin'..." he said then brightened happily. "You should come to my place! The harvest season is the best time to visit. I have lots of festivals and the mountains are really nice. I bet you'd like it."

"I'll eat pretty much anything," Tennessee admitted without an ounce of shame. "I'm not too picky. Even if it's just leftovers that's good enough."

"Huh? Oh, I'll see about it maybe! It might prove to be interesting..."

It wasn't that Wisconsin didn't go to festivals or socialized - -it was more he didn't want to tell who he was considering his ... interesting relationship with his cities, his politicians, and his people. It was hard to deal with both of them at times, both ridiculously strong willed and demanding cities with vastly different ideologies. To ever say his actual thoughts, would be a disaster and who knows they'd react.

This is exactly why he was hesitant to even meet with his politicians, and even talk deeply with other states. He'd merely be used as a trophy, someone they move along side with in victory, forcing him to reflect what they believed.

In order to give them all what they wanted, he had to b̛̀͘͞r̴͠é́͝ą́́͜͝k҉̶
.
"Well, let's see then what to cook ya..." He said tapping his chin, it's like he was deliberately ignoring the idea of being around people in some ways, or perhaps he just didn't hear it. Likely the first, "What are your thoughts on Norwegian Meatballs?" With how he was already digging for the various ingredients he needed it's clear he already made up his mind.

"Sounds good," Tennessee said as he sat down to continue his checkup on his guitar. Wisconsin hadn't exactly said no, but the Volunteer State wasn't surprised he hadn't said yes, either.

He still thought it was odd that Wisconsin was hiding away somewhere and wondered just how many people knew about this place. Going to get him from the airport and taking him to some secret hide out was probably causing a lot of trouble for Wisconsin. Tennessee figured he'd have to think of a way to properly thank him but he wasn't quite sure how. The only thing he knew of that Wisconsin liked was beer and he certainly didn't seem to be in need of more.

"Um... Hey, I was thinkin' you seem pretty serious about all this sneakin' around stuff," Tennessee muttered. "I guess I could try usin' a human name while I'm here. If it'd make it easier on you, I mean. I still don't get it but I wouldn't want to be the cause of you gettin' caught by... whoever."

Wisconsin almost looked taken aback at this at hearing this after he washed his hands, with his eyes widening a bit in surprise while he was mixing the meat, onion, eggs, milk, breadcrumbs and seasoning.

"Ya really don't have to ya know, I know ya are pretty comfortable with Tennsesee," he grinned a little bit in amusement, at the other state, "Besides it sounds like a human enough name anyway, ya know? Nothing like Wisconsin which sounds almost ... unreal."
PostPosted: Mon Nov 07, 2011 7:54 pm

"If somebody's really lookin' for you then they might get suspicious," Tennessee admitted as he continued to mess with his guitar. He didn't seem to notice Wisconsin's surprise. "It's not a problem and it'd make things easier on you. I... The General wouldn't mind if I used his name... I don't think he would."

Tennessee blushed a little as he recalled his childhood hero, Andrew Jackson. The man had seen him through his rise to statehood and many fierce battles during the War of 1812. Even after he'd become known as President to everyone else, he was still first and foremost Tennessee's general. Even if they hadn't always agreed on everything and the man had proven himself to be a very controversial figure, Tennessee had deeply respected and admired Old Hickory.

"I don't feel quite right usin' his last name, but I guess Andrew Hickory would be fine," he said a bit shyly. He felt a little silly but it was probably for a good reason. Probably. "I'll try to remember to call you Gabe when we're out in public, too."

Taken aback by this kindness - in fact it was almost alien to him to see something done for him with nothing in return. Wisconsin almost felt horrible in some shape or form now, because of what he thought inside about others compared to him but did nothing but gave a sincere smile back at him.

Since he was done with that for a bit, he moved over to talk to Tennessee, it had to wait for about fifteen minutes after all, "Really? That ... kinda means a lot to me. I mean, ya don't have to do it, but the fact ya are is important!" Wisconsin kept his happy face on, this was actually one that he couldn't help but do so for some strange reason, "Ya can still call me my state name here, but it's great of ya to ... do that."

"It's really no problem," Tennessee said as he looked up from his guitar when Wisconsin approached. He was somewhat surprised to see the smile on the Badger State's face and amazed by how much this really seemed to mean to him. Tennessee felt a little awkward at the honest gratitude and blushed as he ran a hand through his dark hair. "I mean, it's only natural to help each other out, right? I might not understand, but if it's important to you, I don't mind goin' along with it. You don't have to explain yourself or nothing, either. I get that everybody has their own reasons for what they do so I'm fine with it."

He wasn't used to getting thanked and it showed as he shyly avoided looking directly at Wisconsin. The musician shifted and offered up his guitar as a change in topic. "You said you wanted to hear me play, right?" he asked. "I don't mind playin' for you now if you want me to."

It was kind of ironic in a way, that Wisconsin would be so not used to good things being done for him and Tennessee meanwhile not used to being thanked. However, this meant a lot to the Badger State, to have him create a name like that so he couldn't stop smiling. He really couldn't even understand why he was doing it either, or even if he was intentionally doing it like he often deliberately had to do.

It wasn't for keeping up appearances this time, because it was happening naturally. It felt extremely strange, "Of course! I have no problem and I have to have them sit for a bit anyway," He shook his head for a few moments, good lord why was he smiling, did he look ridiculous? "I am fine with about anything ya know?"
