Teal eyes rolled at the singing and the insults like water off a duck's back. Had these things been human perhaps Before would have been rendered into a state of massive internal QQ-ing. "Defenseless my a**, you got all that s**t going for you and you still go after us. Lurking and looming and who knows what other s**t you do. And hey, while I'm all for suddenly bursting into song at random intervals, I give you all half a star at best," he shrugged, raising his weapon with one hand as if it weighed lighter than air before he brought down on the ground with an audible, heavy thud.
Despite the bravado on his face, Before was mentally apologizing to his weapon. He knew better than to treat a lady like that but he just... HE HAD TO PROVE A POINT. Please don't be mad, Vanna, please please please please...
My, my, boil-posturing? From you, Silly Before? It's quite amusing... Vanna giggled, unhurt from the handling.
He turned to Bix, "Yeah, yeah you're right. Animals. Hey, you think boss-dude will put them down?" He was genuinely curious about that.
From the corner of his eye, he noticed Glen was pretty much not aligning himself with the other singing prosing free-versing? creatures. "Ain't animals trainable? You think that one's got the chops for it?" he gestured.

"Still alive."
She was more convinced of it now- they had nothing to fear. Weren't they FEAR themselves? Nothing the strange figures could say would change that fact; at the end of the day, they were the ones who were going to do the scaring- and perhaps, even, the killing.
For now there was no further need to play with her prey.

Bix just laughed and wished Cass was here. She'd totally enjoy the irony of them singing about the victory of the captor. It didn't stop him from humming the song with them. He actually sang the words in repetitive chorus with each ghoul. Louder because he was enjoying it.
"And when you're DEAD I will be still alive." He laughed, loudly and once again patted his bestie Before on the shoulder.
He also happened to be one of those people who sang the same lines over and over when they got stuck in his head so he jumped out of sequence, whistling the tune while interjecting a few words.
"Look at me still talking when there's science to do. When I look out there it makes me GLaD I'm not you. I've experiments to run there is research to be done On the monsters who are still alive."
He chuckled to himself and joyfully tossed his bow in his hand. She giggled in his head, his amusement seemingly contagious.

Glen did not like being the center of anyone outside the cages attention and frowned, perking his ears slightly. Being called an animal again did not sit well with him, but he was no longer quite as fuelled with anger as he had been earlier and found his courage was about as solid as unset jelly.
Trainable? That didn't sound good either. He quietly hunkered down a little closer to the floor of his confines.

"Still alive..."
She ended the song with a smile in Lattice's direction, her voice still soft but she hoped that it was at least comforting; please let it work! Please please please!
At the end, she clapped her hands together in front of her, "Yay!" She was not crazy, really.

Lois had watched the proceedings with interest, but held back. And one part of her? She was jealous. Extremely so. How did this ghouls still have their powers? At this point she would kill to have her powers back, to be able to fight, or make some show that she was not just sitting in her cage.
But there was nothing she could do. She sat and she stared, and she tried to piece together possible scenarios in case someone got out. Until she picked up on what the boil said about Glen being trainable. He was one that was stuck with her, and as such, that made him just a little bit closer to her in her mind. She glared at the creature outside the cage venomously, whatever happened, she knew she wouldn't be trained, and she doubted Glen would, though she wasn't so sure about some of the others she was with. "Ignore him, Glen," she whispered, "those creatures are crazy."

The other ghouls had calmed down by then, as did Edel. The frost demon was now staring at the melting effigy of Gale, half disgusted by what had come over her, half impressed with her show of defiance. Placing a hand on the melting ice sculpture, she allowed it to crumble into pieces – there was no pride for that piece of work. It was done. She had proven that she would not go down without a fight – that was all she needed for now.
The ghoul retracted her hand and drew herself into a proper sitting posture, an attempt to salvage the rest of her dignity. Now was the time for some evaluation. (Impending link to solo~~~)

[ Entering from the backyard! ]
"Bix, why on earth are you singing? You sound like a dying cat."
Stepping into the tent, sniper rifle propped, as usual, up against his shoulder, Gale Gentry made his way towards the white haired hunter, as if he hadn't just been attacked and left for dead by a bunch of strange creatures.
"I'm impressed, you know," he went on as he walked, this time addressing the ones in the cages that surrounded them, a smile on his face. "You guys are a lot stronger than I gave you credit for. The fire thing - that was pretty cool, and the ice thing?"
Golden eyes slid towards the demon, flickering down briefly to rest on what might have been an ice sculpture of his head only a few short moments before. He'd been standing in the back, having slipped in quietly just in time to see her crush it, lying in pieces on the floor of her cage. Now it was just shattered pieces of crystalline glass.
"The ice sword was kinda badass, not gonna lie."
He stopped when he was beside the Bix, but didn't look at him, instead surveying the cages around him with an unreadable expression, eyes narrowed in what might have been a scrutinizing look. His free hand rested on his hip, Jinhai remaining, for once, silent.
"Although the whole ganging up thing - that was just plain mean," Gale said, sighing melodramatically. The smile on his face had turned very slightly feral, though he turned his back on the cages, absently toying with the scarf around his neck. If the fire elemental's attack had left any remaining damage, it wasn't visible.
"It's just like that first time, isn't it?" said Gale, with a sideways glance at Bix, a smirk playing on the corners of his lips. "Back when we were on that island, and we were all trying to kill each other? "

"GALE!" Bix was quick to be hugging his buddy and shaking him by the shoulders. He was all smiles now, the anger gone from his eyes. What were those ghouls were saying about him? Taking him down? His bleeding body?
Bix simply laughed. "Yeah whats with that? It was like that then too.. Well you know.." He punched Gale lightly in the arm. "What you can you expect from petty women. They don't know any better."
Boss or Tika would probably punch him for that one.

Gale gave a somewhat less than manly squawk, attempting to pry Bix off of him.
"What are you - geroff me!"
Straightening his mussed coat, Jinhai's laughter ringing in his ears, Gale couldn't quite keep his smile off his face. Something about Bix's ridiculousness made him relieved.
Even though the albino was going to get kicked in the nads for his last statement.
"Have fun explaining that theory to Boss and Tika," Gale said dryly, rolling his eyes. "And at least this time I didn't die."
His gaze flickered back to the cages.
"Yet."

A pair of blue eyes found themselves staring at Gale. The look in them - was she possibly amused? Or just really cryptic? It was a mystery.
Her eyes flitted away from him, the frost demon remaining silent.

Execution: Day 2"Trainees, if you are quite done with fooling around with the specimens, please line up at the doorway thank you. That includes you, David." Caelius made a motion to take off his hood, paused for a second, and then shook his head ever so slightly. Was he waiting for something - or someone even?
One of the two unfamiliar Hunter faces manning the large console - a behemoth of hard-drive machine fused with a screen - gave the trainees a sympathetic look as if to say 'We are so sorry you have to put up with him.' They quickly looked away as the Death Hunter approached them, eyeing the screen with scrutiny. "Are you almost done with the setup?"
"Yes sir, it should be operational any time, sir."
"Good, I want a moment first." Caelius swept over to the formation of trainees. "You might have been wondering why I did not take action to help you out earlier, why one of you almost died." He paced as he talked. "The answer is simple: what if I had not been there? There are situations where you will be asked the impossible and you will not get outside help. I will tell you why you were weak and why someone almost died: you purposely let the opponent goad you and weaken you as a group. You let them cut into your pride, you were vulnerable, and they took advantage of it. This is a lesson I could not ever put into words - "he pointed at the motley of cages - "they will not hesitate to cut you down. We are outnumbered. Before you consider your pride, consider your capability first."
Satisfied at that little speech, he turned around, bypassing the newly captured prisoners entirely - it was obvious he had never considered them anything but specimens - before turning to the row of thirteen, now twelve cages, still interlinked to each other through glowing chains.
"No sign of the Soul Harvester yet, I see." Caelius talked about it as if he was chatting about the weather. "I was hoping with the last little event, the bait would have been snagged, but I guess it'll take a little more than that to summon an Ancient." He took out a card key from his pockets, pressed it against the second of the cages, and let the door snap open before yanking on the chain inside.
A petite creature stepped outside, both hands grabbing hold of the chain collar around its - her - neck, legs collapsing entirely as they finally lost momentum. Their expression was lost beneath mounds of long, braided hair, but there was no hiding the choked whimper they bit back.
The Death Hunter knelt beside the huddled figure. "I can make this game all end, all I need is a single location, a place. I know that all of you can sense your guardian." Silence met him on the other end.
There was a snap, and then the rattle of chains as the creature was shoved angrily into the large cylindrical structure in the center of the tent. The panel hissed and closed behind its prisoner, sealing them in a glorified glass cage.
"Begin the process." Caelius gave the remaining eleven cages one last angry kick before striding back towards the trainees. "I want you to watch this. They think with their Fear, they are unstoppable, that they can prey on us as they please." A loud humming noise was filling the tent now, making the Death Hunter's voice barely audible. "And because of their arrogance they forget who they are dealing with."
The distortion happened faster than the last time: the specimen trapped within the Weapons Conversion Apparatus barely had time to squirm as its entire body distorted, features blurring, body stretching grotesquely long, until it spanned a good eight feet upwards. Its limbs melded together, its eyes closed shut one last time, and the rest was lost to the hiss of light, electricity and the shrill hum of the generator.
Silence for a second as everything died down before the Death Hunter strode over to the cylinder, sliding the panel open, letting some of the smoke escape. Inside was a weapon: a spear covered in ornate feathers and glowing markings from the base of the pole to its tip. It seemed entirely lifeless and dull, there was barely any feeling of Fear from within it. And again there was that odd silence from all the weapons within the tent: they had made no comment during the entire process nor directly afterwards.
Satisfied at last, Caelius tossed the weapon to the ground close to the Hunter technicians. "Stow it away, I'll be back later. Trainees, I'll give you a moment to consider what happened here, after that, you will continue your mission: it would be nice to find our key ingredient in a timely manner, after all."
Suddenly, in mid-stride, they paused. There was no way of seeing what kind of expression they had under their hood, but the clockworks turning in his head seemed almost visible. "Actually, no wait, I want to test something. Power up the generator again."
"Wait we just- " The second of the technicians began.
"-There is enough electricity sitting in the damn generator. Do it. I want to test something. It shouldn't require much effort anyway." Arms slightly crossed behind his back, he gave the trainees a strange look. "You know, come to think about it, I never quite rewarded your team for your efforts in participating in the last exercise. I think a prize is due for those who earn them." With that, he pointed again to the assorted motley of cages, where the other prisoners were kept. "I'll let you trainees choose, majority rules and all that. Which one of these specimens would you like to see entirely subjugated?" OOC DAY 2 - The second of the thirteen ??? has been converted to a weapon. There are eleven more to go. - HUNTER TRAINEES: RP and come to a consensus of whom you would like to see 'subjugated' : from any of the disposeables whom they currently encountered to the prisoners that they partially kidnapped - Disposeables and kidnapped students: you are still trapped, but feel free to rp out your reactions, or attempt to goad/ cajole/ etc the Hunters into choosing someone not yourself, or whatever you please. Please note that you can NOT leave the cage on your own, without Zoo, Liz, or Maru's approval.

It never got easier to watch. Not even a fraction. Again that rising feeling of sickness and disgust as his stomach knotted at the sight. He wanted so badly to look away this time, biting his lip as a lump seemed stuck in his throat, he wasn't sure why it was so much worse that this "specimen" was a female, he had some deep seated opinion that men were the warriors, more rough, more able to cope with hardships, that women were more sacred somehow. At the very least deserving of dignity. But she was afforded no dignity at all, put on grotesque display as she was transformed. He didn't even notice the tears streaming down his cheeks as his eyes blazed with a cold fury that harked all the way back to the icy depths of the lochs of memory. He was helpless here, but his resentment only grew and grew. Cowards.
It was only dimly he realised that the attention was once again swung upon the captives, it seemed there was more in store.
But he could hardly focus, all he could fixate on was that last moment playing over and over in his mind, the moment where she had closed her eyes as he watched. Over and over and over it played, until he wanted to scream, wanted to roar his defiance at the gathered hunters. But his voice was already hoarse, and even as he tried to gather his nerves, they failed him.
"The second..." he stammered "How...how can ye keep.." he PUNCHED the floor, hard enough to bruise his knuckles "DAYIN THIS?!"
He buried his face in his hands. He couldn't bring himself to care about the danger, about the choice that was to come, all he could think about was that moment. What had she been thinking? What would he be thinking in that situation?
Why?

Edel watched quietly as one of the few trapped in the prominent 13 cages get led away and..... So that's what Lizzy had meant. The frost demon's solemn attention was quickly brought back as she listened in to Caelius' offer. Well, jack. The ghoul restrained herself from breaking into an ironic smile. Considering her earlier outburst, it wouldn't be a surprise if she got volunteered. And it was her that landed the final blow on Gale.....before he warped off and came back all smiles and healthy. The frost demon sighed, preparing herself for panic – but surprisingly no, she had come to terms with most of the things while in confinement. Well. Except for one.
Edel's lips thinned in concentration as she weighed out her options once more. Hmmmm.
