He couldn't seem to find Eliza; where had she disappeared to? He had definitely seen her get hit by the massive spider creature, but then he had lost sight during the ensuing chaos that had erupted around him.

Fritz did not want to think the worst - and he especially did not want to consider that this would be a last battle for anyone, normal humans and senshi alike. Obviously the latter had abilities far beyond those of the civilians, which basically rendered Fritz rather incapable in comparison, but that did not mean he was not about to fight alongside them anyway.

Besides, if he were to die, he would go down fighting, damn it!

A familiar voice in his ear made him turn; Fritz managed to crack a smile at Hawke, reaching out to clap the girl on the shoulder.

"No biggy," he said cheerfully, though even as he said it, his head gave another painful throb. "I'm perfectly fine."

As if to prove this point, Fritz suddenly reared back and swung the heavy marble bat in his hands towards the massive spider towering above them. Most unfortunately, he only managed to get a glancing blow in, staggering slightly with the abrupt movement.

"See?" he said, grinning at Hawke, though with an overly exaggerated air of one who knew just how badly they'd done. "A piece of cake."

The crashing sounds, the sharp cut-off cries of pain, the clatter of furniture being damaged -- it was all getting to Veer, and rapidly. In the past, he'd always assumed that if he were in a situation like this, it'd be just like WoW: someone [probably him] would have to step forward and shout at people to fight intelligently, to work together. Someone strong to draw agro. Range standing back and attacking. Healers at the ready.

In the heat of the moment, though, he mostly just didn't want to die. Weird how that worked. So he huddled and hid, but a particularly loud noise made him start and knock over his own piece of protective furniture. The spider was closer than he expected; it bounced off the creature's leg, and left Veer more exposed, deer in headlights.

A small smile of relief was offered down to Zephyr, although her attention was also rather distracted by the civilians scrambling about. Everyone was frantically trying to do something to defeat the youma, though the civilians should really leave it to the Senshi here. Chronos doubted that she could haul all of them back and out of the way, however.

Her gaze then fell on Virgo and a look of worry crossed her face. Chronos would have rushed to her Captain's side to make sure that she was holding up if a leg hadn't crashed into her, striking her into a nearby column.

Her breath was knocked out of her at that moment, and there was a slight pain in her chest. Chronos figured that she had probably fractured a rib, carefully gulping in a few breaths of air before she spoke. "I'll be fine." She managed, pressing against the lower part of her chest. "The civilians..." They too, had been hit by the spider and she couldn't help but worry.

Flora had clapped a hand over her mouth in horror as she could only watch as her Princess was hit by one of the spider youma's legs. There hadn't been any time to react, to throw herself in front of her Princess and she could only berate herself for not being quick enough. Still, at least Zephyr seemed alright, and he was taking care of her. "You're going to get it now." She declared, leveling a deathly glare at the youma.

"Flora Pollen Fever!" A cloud of pollen was directed at the face of the youma. After all, it had always been a good strategy to use her regular attack first to gauge how it reacted to the pollen before trying her super attack. Did spiders even sneeze? Well, she had managed to defeat bee youma before... but that really was a rather different situation.

Never mind that. This youma was going to pay for hurting the Princess!

Darwin had never heard of a space squirrel called "Youma." In fact, he was pretty sure he'd never heard of anything called "Youma" before now. He wasn't particularly keen on finding out what this "youma" was, but Jett and Raven had decided to fight it, so he picked up a rock intending to tag along with them and fight...

... until he actually saw the "youma." Darwin then took that opportunity to let out a strange, distressed hiccup and duck behind a pile of rubble.

Spider. Darwin hated spiders, giant space spiders included. The girls might not be running from it, but Darwin was damn close to doing so for them. No one was in mortal peril, himself included, so suddenly he was perfectly happy to just squat alone in the dirt. When the sounds of battle started he made no move to join, moving only to crawl behind another, larger pile of rubble, grabbing a wooden furniture leg along the way.

Oh no.

Oh no.

Damnit!

Civilians and powered alike went flying by her, and just when they had all risen to their feet, the spider leapt upon five of them, grabbing at them with really gross looking legs. The closest leg had a hold on a civilian (Eliza). She called out, but someone already had the same idea, and attacked the leg. Instead, she ran around the body, looking for a weakness. She found Virgo, staring blankly ahead.

"Are you ok?" She asked, immediately ignoring the giant creature looming before them. "You look awfully white." The spider was way to close for comfort, so she turned her back to Virgo, and shouted "Feather-Fall Strike!"

The cloud of feathers wasn't as big as the spider, but it rushed forward anyway, twisting around the giant arachnid's body. The feathers moved quickly, cutting into the creature like a series of paper cuts. She smiled with satisfaction and then left the magic to do it's work. Right now, Virgo needed help.

Grus put her hands on Virgo's shoulders, saying "Maybe you should lie down. You'll kill yourself if you use your power too many times."

<********/> The only thing Holi could think of that might have been creepier would be... a giant tick... or an space earwig... or a Nutcracker... but she'd never admit to that discomfort if she could help it. Hell she'd learned to sleep with a wall of the blank eyed jaw-clackers in her room... but then none of them were marching around attacking people and being... well... huge... and disgusting and ... and just ew.

******** Spiders, ******** Tentacle monsters, ******** SPACE.

She hadn't been struck by anything... yet... but at the moment it only felt like a matter of time, which made her feel humiliatingly hysterical all over again. She would not start crying. She would not start crying because she was in space, she would not start crying because ******** magic was real (goddamnit), she would NOT start crying because there was a spider of biologically impossible size trying to eat them. SHE WOULD NOT.

... Not until it was over anyway. Then, goddamnit, she'd bawl her eyes out and who gave a ******** who saw.

"I HATED CHARLOTE'S WEB TOO!" She yelled, realizing distantly that this was a rather huge non-sequeter to pretty much everything as she grabbed a chunk of rock, ducking out of cover long enough to hurl it at the spider in a futile fury.

Darwin had two make-shift weapons now. Two. He could spare one, right? Rocks were really meant for throwing anyway. He could handle that, especially with people in trouble, right? Right.

Taking a deep breath, Darwin popped up from his spot behind the rubble long enough to throw his rock in the spider's general direction. Then he hurriedly ducked back down, shuddering and grasping his remaining "weapon" desperately.

BATTLEFIELD BONUS: +20 to Youma
+3 to Order-side players

(You can't go over maximum HP, sorry!)

The green light faded from Valhalla, Ryugu-jo and Zephyr. Attentive civilians or senshi would notice the Zodiac Captain's dazed gaze; she didn't seem to be much invested in giving more orders, and had given up on standing to sit on the edge of the punctured bed.

But this time, with her attention no longer divided, it moved to six Order-side players.

Virgo Refraction Total: 10P

1. Valhalla
2. Ganymede
3. Zephyr

4. Ryugu-jo
5. Babylon
6. Chronos
7. Flora
8. Grus

Valhalla, Ganymede, Zephyr, Chronos, Flora and Grus are now impervious to all damage!

That was certainly quite a strange feeling, a strange battle situation that Fluorite was far from used to. None of them would have, really - there was a slight delay, she felt, in between her thoughts and the spider reacting to them. There was also the pain.

There were no wounds, but there was definitively pain - she'd let go of the crystal on first impact, surprised, but now her hands seemed all but bound to it, through her body tensed in reaction to invisible blows Spinel could not see, her face turned to grimaces of pain, and there was, more than once, something that resembled worry, and perhaps some mirroring of the senshi's guilt, on some level.

If these were truly civilians, Fluorite did not wish to hurt them. This wasn't like stealing energy, and she'd always refused to steal a civilian's starseed unless she had no other option. She wasn't exactly the same as most of the others generals, who had started out having to kill civilians to gather energy.

Some might even call her weak for it.

But if they did not move, what choice did she have ? If they wanted to fight and die like senshi... Then there was little she could do about it.

Both hands were clamped on the crystal so hard that it was a wonder she didn't shatter it.

She had to think up something, and quick, or she'd be overwhelmed, through she wouldn't call this a waste - just as she felt the youma's pain... she felt it heal. The presence of civilians who seemed to refuse to power up. That was information, good information.

It might be useful later on.

The spider was very much not a fan of the gathered order-aligned powered beings nor the civilians who were doing their best to fight for their lives - it hissed and tried to dodge as best as it could, but that was the problem with something so big - there were plenty of spots where it could be hit.

Eventually, it seemed to have enough - a large hiss and it jumped, shooting some webbing to attach itself to the ceiling, hopefully away from the reach of the prodding civilians, at the very least.

The spider seemed to have forgotten it's own size - sure, it was out of the way, but not out of the way enough. This wouldn't stop the most determined spider-hunters...

But maybe what it did next might - with another low hiss, the spider started spinning, shooting spines toward all those gathered in the room.

...Virgo's room was going to need a lot of remodeling after this, for certain.

Roll 2d6's !

If your roll is 2 or 4 on the first dice, you've been hit. It stings, but it's not so bad. Subtract the amount of the first dice from your health pool. The second dice is the damage you do to the spider.

If you roll is 3 or 5, you've been hit... with a poison-filled spine. Thankfully, this is not deadly poison, but you can bet the area around the wound is burning and itching like hell. Substract the amount of the first dice from your health pool. Disreguard your second roll, as you're too busy scratching yourself or looking for something to wash the poison away to do much else !

If your roll is 1 or 6, damn that was a lucky one ! Maybe you might want to buy a lottery ticket when you get back to Earth ? At any rate, you're not hit, and the second dice stands for the amount of damage you do to the spider. b***h deserves a takedown !

If your hit points go to 0, you are not dead ! Stand by for instructions.

((Sorry for the lag on this one ! RL happened.))

Jett barely had any time to try to move back towards Raven or Candice and see how they were faring in all of this; shortly after he threw the chunk of marble, he was getting payment; as soon as the spines started shooting, he lifted a hand to cover his face—and didn’t regret it.

Pain seared from the palm of his hand and he instinctively lowered his hand to assess the damage.

The spike that pierced through the palm of his hand as easily as a tac through paper could have easily shot right through his eye socket. It was large enough that Jett knew it could have caused serious damage if it had hit anything vital—he was trying to be optimistic, but there was a ******** spine sticking through his hand.

And then the itch settled in. The burning he might have been able to handle, but the itch. In the back of his head, he remembered Steve Irwin and how his fatal flaw had been pulling out the barb, but this wasn’t a stingray and wasn’t anywhere near his heart. And it itched. Jett gripped one end of the spine and yanked it out with a grimace. Bruises were nothing to him, but seeing his own blood just sickened him.

The spine dropped to the ground as he started scratching at his flesh. He’d been in poison ivy before—had chicken pox, spilled acid on himself in chemistry—but nothing had ever quite itched like that. He clawed at his skin, ignoring the blood collecting under his nails as he tried to focus on getting some sort of relief. Oh—and trying not to die, on the side.

Eliza had been lucky enough to miss the first attack, but Fritz hadn't. No he had been slammed into a pillar causing Eliza to gasp, frozen in place. It looked painful, but Fritz got up and was headed back over, only to be knocked away again by a leg.

She ran to help him but unfortunately she was knocked away by another leg, but not nearly as hard as Fritz as she could have sworn she saw something, maybe more than one something, go at the leg just she was knocked away.

She groaned rubbing the spot where he thigh connected with the wall, but pushed away from the wall shaking off the pain and looking around for Fritz, who she had now lost track of in the chaos. Not only that she looked wide eyed at her hand she had lost her belt. She needed to find that, it she thought, was far better than some marble rumble, still she did pick up and clutch a piece of the rumble ready to defend herself while retrieved her belt.

She thought she saw the buckle not just a few feet away.
