Matthew chuckled lightly, he watched Kirin change the bandages.
"Alpha, this Is Jace from Delta squad. We're at the entrance of the cave. Looks like you had a party without us."
Matthew smiled when he heard Jace. "We had a 'special' Invite~" He joked.
Jace chuckled. "I hear ya. So, where are you guys anyway?"
"Head down the cave and take the left tunnel, we're waiting at the wreak yard." Matt replied. "You might want to send another squad down the right tunnel, and be careful, this place Is crawling with locust."
"Roger that." Jace said.

Nickolas sighed slightly when Kirin finished with the bandages. He remained laying on the ground though while Kirin put her medical kit away. Actually, it felt better to be laying down. For now, he just looked up at his brother with a small grin while Kirin went off to follow Tanner wandering around the vehicles.

Matthew knelt down beside Nickolas. "How much you wanna bet mom Is going to fuss at us after this?" He asked with a soft smile.
Tanner glanced at Kirin, he didn't say anything and looked at the vehicles again.

Nick couldn't help a soft chuckle despite how much it pained him. "Definitely... My fir-rst mission, and I-i come back on a stretcher..." he said quietly.
Kirin watched Tanner for a bit before looking at the vehicles. She wasn't a vehicle expert like he was, but she had her own virtues to add to the team. In any case, however, she did need to talk to him. "Earlier with the locust in the cave, just us two... I had it under control... Why did you tell me to take cover?... I was perfectly fine..."

Matthew gently grabbed his hand. "After you heal, I promise I'll take you on a less dangerous mission. Alright?"
"That's what teammates do right? Plus we were In a hurry." Tanner said before shifting his weight, It was a bad habit of his when he was nervous.

Nick shook his head and squeezed his brother's hand. "N-no way... Once I'm he-healed... we're going on a mission that's j-just as dan-ngerous as this on-ne... There's no point in turning bac-ck now and sticking with e-easy missions. I-i'm in this now, and the only way I move is f-forward..."
Kirin narrowed her eyes a bit, catching him shifting his weight. She knew him well enough now that she knew exactly what he was feeling right now. She paused in walking and put a hand on her hip, eyes locked with his. "Then why feel so nervous?... Are you hiding something?"

Matthew couldn't help but chuckle. "Okay okay. Man... How did you end up so stubborn, you weren't like this when we lived In New York."
Tanner bit his lip, he wanted to shift his weight again but he managed not to. He stayed quite bit Kirin's stare was starting to drill right Into his brain. He broke. "I give In! I didn't want you to get hurt alright? I don't know what I'd I do If something happened to you..."

"L-look who's talking," Nick pointed out, squeezing his brother's hand slightly. "I-i got it from yo-ou..."
Kirin blinked a few times before looking away, down at the ground to her right. However, there was a small blush in her face. "I-i've gotten hurt before... It's n-no big deal..."

Matt smiled and returned Nick's squeeze. "I guess you did... other than dad, I might me the most stubborn person In the COG, besides you that Is. I can see now your just as stubborn If not more than me and him."
"I... I know, but your like a sister to me. Look at Matthew and Nickolas. They grew up together and form that brotherly protective bond, they would do anything for each other. But In the years that I've known you, we built that same bond. Maybe stronger." Tanner said before a nervous smile broke across his face.

Nick couldn't help a grin before nodding. He chuckled lightly, only to break off coughing up a bit of blood.
Kirin kept looking away. As she thought about it, maybe he was right... Well, it was the only thing that could explain her blush at the moment.

"Hey, take It easy bro." Matthew said with a worried tone.
Tanner sighed and glanced at the tunnel that lead to the giant one they were In right now. He saw Jace walk In with five other Gear's. He looked at Matt who was looking at the other COG's as well. He couldn't help but smile, he patted Kirin's shoulder before jogging over to the others.
"What happened?" Jace asked as he knelt beside Nickolas. "You ain't lookin' too good kid."
"I wasn't watching where I was going and a locust sniper shot at me and Nick pushed me out of the way, he took the bullet for me." Matt explained.
Clayton walked up beside Jace and smiled down at Nickolas, although he was wearing a helmet. He was pretty sure Nick knew who he was.

Kirin looked up when Tanner patted her shoulder and headed back to the others. With a small sigh, she glanced around at the vehicles for just a moment before following him.
Nickolas merely grinned up at Jace. Then he blinked a few times at Clayton before laughing slightly, and again coughed up a little blood. "H-hey... Long time, n-no see, eh Cla-ayton?... H-heh... Look what yo-our training got m-me into," he joked weakly, yet despite the pain he continued to grin.

"Heh, I guess I'm not a good teacher then." Clayton said before chuckling a bit. "How 'bout I give you the rest of your training after your heal?"
Jace smiled and stood up, he ordered the other COG's to move ahead and take down any locust along the way, they would be the defense on the front line until they finished the mission and got Nick out.

Nickolas blinked twice up at Clayton before glancing away. "Maybe... but I'm part of the Alpha Squad. Missions come first," he said. He looked up at Matthew for a moment with a grin. Kirin joined up by Nickolas' side, sighing slightly, but she helped him to his feet so they could continue forward.

"Hey, even the best of solder's still need training every now and then." Clayton said before walking off a bit, he waited for the others.
Matthew smiled. "Lets move out, and look sharp, those grubs could be anywhere." He said before following Clayton with Jace right behind him.
Tanner decided to stay with Kirin and Nickolas just In case they needed help.
