Junkyard had been there in the shadows for a little while. Long enough to hear the speech by the 'big guy'. Nah, she wasn't into those items. Not unless there was something to fight with. She was iching to fight. She wanted to protect others just like what her namesake was about. Not that anyone here had heard of one, but the human that had her once had.

Oh yes, she had a human once. Treated her just like the dog with the pattern she shared. She protected until the day she didn't.... that would never happen again. Oh no, not again. And now that she was called home she felt she might have found a place to protect again.

Caleigh would make a great Matron!

"Member? I don't know, that sounds painful," Caleigh admitted, admiring the mane that this one had, it looked like it had been brushed hundreds of time for it was shiny and silky from her perspective. "Thank you, I love them," she giggled, her laughter was higher than what most pae'ils' laughters would sound like. It sounded like she was cackling, though. Most unpleasant if something naughty follows it.

"Can I touch your hair?" she asked before reaching out to pat the hair. "Wow, I like. My hair is all short," the female said, eyeing the male, Rais as he walked away. She looked to Belvah. "Caleigh. You can call me Cal. Do you like that male? He is rather cute."

Belvah blinked, a little shocked by the other's laughter. "If you'd like, you can touch my hair." The question wasn't uncommon, she groomed her hair a lot more than other fauns she knew.

"But your hair suits you well. And your short fluffy hair." She smiled, looking back over at Rais. "I do rather enjoy looking at the chief. I'm sure he's got a very fitting personality, but I've never met him unfortunately." Belvah sighed, like a maiden in love, waiting for her lover to return from a long voyage. "I hope he'll come down here after all this mess with the counsel, you'd love how he looks up close~"

"I can tell," Caleigh said, giving a nod, a single piece of her short platinum blond hair fell in her face. "Would you like an apple?" she asked, holding out a yellow apple with specks of kelly-green to it. She blew on it to wipe the dirt off and held it out. "Apples have a mystical aura to it," the female said, smiling widely.

"I can tell he really likes you. I was watching you and him," the spotted hyena said, looking almost embarrassed at that fact.

Rais was back to the duty at hand after seeing a lovely vision. He looked as a deer-colored faun looked over the pile of items. He picked a doll and binkie, interesting pick. Rais nodded as the male gave his reasoning. "Thank you."

After the male walked away, Rais went to steal a glance at the other fauns, one in particular. He noticed she was talking to another female faun. He was curious to know what they were talking about...a smile formed on his face with a few thoughts. He then saw her look back at him and turned his head away. He wasn't someone to get distracted, it was time for other things. Rais looked to his mother and then back at the items.

Alistair had never been one for punctuality. Not even the inescapable feeling of needing to be here, come life or limb, had changed that. It also hadn't helped that the faun had stopped to baulk at every little thing on the island along the way. He knew the place, or...he had heard of it, at least. His parents had told him stories they had themselves picked up from others, the stories hadn't been their own. His parents knew about as much about this place as he did and the knowledge was quite vague. He knew that his parents had been created here but hadn't been raised on this strange island. Still, he'd felt the call and he headed it. How could he not have? Of course, he may or may have not gotten lost a few times along the way. But he'd always told himself he'd see this island and the faun that inhabited it.

He'd never seen so many like himself! He had only ever seen one other faun besides his parents in the city they inhabited. It was shocking, really, to see so many now as he made his way through the crowd, gawking at the sheer number and not caring if his staring would be read as rude. He was far too curious to care about that now! He wanted to take in everything. The faun, the large tree that felt warm and welcoming, despite being so strange to him. And who was that guy who had been talking? He had to have been important. What was with all the old stuff laid out? Someting about council members? He'd only caught the very tail end of the man's speech. Drat! He knew he should have made a left back in that field, now he'd missed everyhting. Well, nothing to do for it now, he'd better figure out what was going on. It had to be important.Looking around him, he tapped the nearest faun, who just so happened to be Namaqua, on the shoulder. "Heeeey..." he put on the friendliest grin he could muster "mind filling me in on what's going on? I was....a little late."

"It is kind of you to say so, Pan, but I know I don't play well. I would be too embarrassed to show you, even."

Kishi smiled at Pan, and moved out of the way when he picked up the doll and acorn thing. It was odd that he'd pick up those of all items. He seemed more like the type that would pick up one of the more natural items like the wood carvings or other musical instruments. His calling must be with the saplings and acorns, she thought.

Kishi heard her friend tell the chieftain why he picked those items. She chuckled at his using the word 'groovy' because it was a word that she didn't know and thought it had something to do with hooves.

Turning towards the much larger crowd that had gathered in the meeting room, the pink faun gasped. "I have never seen so many faun in one place before. This is wonderful!"

She walked towards the crowd, smiling and nodding towards all of the new faces. She felt a warming in her heart at seeing so many faun return home to gather. This was certainly a special event.

Namaqua jumps and squeaks at the appearance of the older faun. "I, um, well," he says stupidly, trying so hard not to blush. He was so tall! Even without those beautiful horns, he was so tall! And the horns! So elegant and spiraled! They made Namaqua want to touch his silly branch-like growths self-consciously.

"Um," he continues. "I think there's, like, a contest? No, not a contest, it's something else, more like a choosing. No, that's not right either. The man in charge over there called for his ancient council brothers to come forward and pick something off the table." He nods emphatically, his eyes flicking back and forth around the room, hoping for someone to rescue him from this conversation. Oof, the elegant faun talking with him was so very male, Namaqua really did feel inadequate in comparison. Artemis seemed to have and teach a contempt for males, but Namaqua could never help but admire them. So strong and powerful...he'd always longed to belong to a group of them.

"You, you can go up if you want," he says, nodding, hoping he'd do just that so Namaqua could admire him from afar.

So Rais was looking for his council was he? Gulliver took a deep breath fingering the pendant which at this time hung around his neck, So many possibilities lay in the task at hand for the man before them at the dias. The male looked from faun to faun, he wondered who among them was a faun worthy to fill those roles. He slowly maneuvered his way into the crowd avoiding bumping into people as much as possible, he felt he might as well see if he held the qualities that were being sought.

Gulliver would make a great Seer, Geomancer or Captain of the Rangers!

The male eventually made his way to the front near the male known as Rais, Gulliver had never met the man before but he sensed that he was strong in his ways as a leader. He stopped, saying not a word as he looked over the items before him. His eyes examined each item in turn without him physically touching any of them. He wasn't sure that he was truely confident to pick any out at first, but one item eventually did draw his hand from his side.

Gulliver put his fingers around a small wooden carved bowl, half full of richly colored liquid. He brought it close to himself and used his other hand to lift a stick submerged in the liquid only to discover it actually appeared to be a paintbrush, a short branch stripped of it's bark with bristles tied tightly to it's end. This brought a smile to the male's lips as he turned it over once and drew it across the lip of the bowl to find the bristles soft yet pliable.

"Each faun, each creature alive, has hidden talents inside of them" he said aloud, not yet looking up from the bowl. He turned the brush over one more time then looked up and directly at Rais. "Even the simplest item can become a useful tool in bringing these talents to the surface" He looked at the bowl once more and brought it closer to his face sniffing it, berries... it smelled like berries. "Take this liquid for example, if my senses arent decieving me it's made from berries" he looked up once more "A simple item we likely take for granted as just an every day thing that we would eat, becomes an pigment to allow the faun to express themselves for others to see."

Gulliver paused and looked from Rais to Earthmother and briefly to a coupe other fauns close by before continuing "Any one of us could be the ones you seek, but only your heart will be able to see what any of us could become, just like the things that make up these" He motions the bowl and brush he held. "I wish you good luck in your hunt" he bows his head to them both before turning to move away.

After a few moments, Vanya patted Takis' arm gently. "Thank you, Takis," she murmured quietly, feeling much calmer than she had minutes before. "Could we...maybe find somewhere to sit for a while?" she questioned, turning her head just enough to cast one eye around the meeting place. There had to be a small cove or something along the edges of the space provided by Laisidhiel for its inhabitants to take shelter and rest.

The Tree had always been prepared to take care of its own like that.

She pulled away just enough to gesture towards what seemed to be an alcove a quarter of the way around the meeting hall. There were several Fauns, of course, on the path between, but she took a deep breath to steady herself, and attempted to reason that if no one had recognized her thus far, that no one would. Or at least there wouldn't be a scene. Besides, lots of these Fauns seemed...different. Yes, she'd never seen them before, but that was true of many here. No, some seemed 'different', she reasoned, then trying to focus her thoughts, realized: they seemed to carry an air of 'wildness' about them. She recognized some with coloring like certain forest creatures; but that wasn't unusual either. She herself had spots that she had heard some wild creature also possessed, even if hers were a different color.

No, it was...a scent...a feeling...of something wild and free and primal. Something that comes from more than just living on one's own away from the tree. Vanya did that, and she knew she didn't possess whatever this was. The source must be something else...like...that female across the room...

There was something in the way that she moved that reminded Vanya of the wild animals that she'd observed so carefully in the forest. She carried herself with the confidence and grace of a predator, slipping through the crowd as a hunter through the tall grass. She did not so much as disturb her surroundings, as they moved out of the way for her.

And whatever this feral aura was that Vanya sensed, it was strongest around her.

Pan turned back to Kishi who seemed to be leaving now. He didn't now anyone else so he didn't know who else to talk to. "I'm sure you music is just as good." He said walking back to her.

He got out his flute and played a soft tune. It caused the rocks to bow and sway. he had gotten better now that he was older. Pan could cause bigger rocks to come to his aid, if he wanted. But mostly he liked to see the small ones dance.

Junkyard was bored. She didn't know who to talk to. Instead she just stood with her arms crossed. Her eyes darted back and forth looking at the others. She saw the chef doing his thing. The teen watched as others picks items and handed them over. That looked interesting at the very least.

Belvah winked as Rais glanced back at her. She really was having fun with this flirting from afar. "It looks delicious Calli!" The silvery gray female smiled, taking the apple. "I think you and I are going to be friends~" She was smiling, glad that this female was so kind. If she'd had anything to offer she would.

"You think so? I really hope he likes me, I think he's going to have to find a wife soon.. It'd be nice if he could pick someone he liked rather than just a random female thrown at him.." Belvah shrugged, meaning she would flirt as much as she could to get him interested in her.

Fi blinked, looking around the room. Her shiny object had stopped shining, and she was left in the crowd utterly embarrassed. "Uh... Where am I?" She asked, utterly clueless. Something happened, but the green haired faun couldn't think of what on earth it could possibly be...

"Calli? I like that," Caleigh said, beaming so that all her pearly whites were shown. She was truly happy about making a friend, though something mischievous is bubbling below the surface of her two-faced personality. She peered over at Rais.

"Can I have the apple back?" she asked the woman, giving a blink. "I have an idea," the female said, smiling and gave Belvah a nudge.

Amadorine would make a great Captain of the Rangers/Grand Geomancer!

Amadorine had watched quietly as faun after faun walked up, selected an item, then turned and made some speach to the crowd on why they ended up picking that particular item. Wonderful, it was like a trial of one's self that not even the test giver seemed to know what to look for. Still, as the next faun went up and said something about a rock, of all things a rock, Amadorine took a breath and shifted on her hooves.

She didn't like this one bit, she didn't like the waiting or the fact that there was all of this talk about 'brothers'. 'It would be hillarious to see the expression on everyone's face if one of those supposed brothers was reborn female.' The thought made her chuckle to herself.

As the last faun stepped down, she glanced around, then rolled her shoulders back and stood up straight. Well, maybe her line of thinking was true and a brother was reborn as a female. With pride in her stride and a closed-lip grin on her face, Amadorine walked herself up to the table and looked down at the items. Some of the items were just painfully obvious to being tricks; like that wicked looking curved sword with the polished blade, that was so obvious that it had to be wrong. Then her eyes glanced over at a child's ball-in-cup toy and she snorted at the absurdity... then again, someone HAD chosen a rock of all things.

Amathyst eyes took in the entire spread of items before her. At first, she didn't see anything at all and she contemplated just stepping back down into the crowd. With one last sweep of her gaze Amadorine lifted a hoof to turn around, but paused mid-lift. Setting her foot back down, she leaned over and moved a few items off of the top of a bronz plated sheild. Picking up the item, she weighed it in her hands and inspected it curiously, noticing that the rim had some sort of engraving all around it. Turning to face everyone, she grinned broadly.

"I like the looks of this sheild; it's solid and sturdy and feels like something that I could count on for protection and, being that I have two younger siblings, protection is something that I feel is important. I think that, at times, the best offensive is a great deffence; something that my father taught me." She paused a minute before adding on. "He also taught me to expect the unexpected, that's why I came up here even though I clearly am not a brother. I figured I'd err on the side of caution just in case one of those 'brothers' was reborn a 'sister' instead. Not saying it's happened, but hey, have an open mind and make sure to cover all the bases, right?"

She shrugged her shoulders and flashed Rais her brightest smile before half trotting back into the crowd, her little faun-tail wiggling.

The fauns sudden jump startled Alistair, causing him to jump as well. Regaining his composure, he tilted his head at the other male. My, he was jumpy. Were all fauns so jumpy? Maybe he'd done something wrong? He edged himself back from the other faun to give him some more room, hoping it may make him feel more at ease. "Ancient...council brothers...?" he mumbled, putting a finger to his mouth and looking back at the items. That would explain...a little bit, at least. Turning back to the other faun, he laughed.

"I see! Well, that makes much more sense. I was beginning to think I'd been summoned to participate in some sort of huge antique sale, for a minute!” he laughed again, resting a hand on his hip. "Dose this happen often, I mean, do they replace council members often? That's what they're doing, right, replacing them?" It was odd, why did they have to pick items? Interesting way to choose authority, he had a lot to learn about his fellow fauns. "Ooooh, no no no, I couldn't do that" he frowned at the other fauns suggestion, shaking his head "I-I would feel like I was intruding, I think. I wouldn't know the first thing about...counseling" he scuffed a hoof awkwardly at the floor "this is my first time here, actually."
