Kaezae awoke to loud cries of agony and fear, along with sounds of destruction. She was still groggy, because she had previously spent yesterday and this morning helping out at a a daycare center and helping the poor travel to a safe shelter from the rain, which had tired her out. "Wha...?" She sat up and rubbed away the sleep from her eyes, confused if this was a dream or reality. "Oh God." Outside of her window, it was raining molten fire, if such a thing could happen. But such things happen, she told herself, when there are fallen angels around.
She opened the window and jumped out, landing gracefully on her feet. Taking off into a run, she hurriedly went to help the people who were stuck outside and panicking. Seeing a two small children cowering under a small tree that was the target of a particularly large fireball, she spread out her arms and commanded "Stop, Time." Her voiced, layered with echoes of power, instantly stilled the place around her. Kaez, keep going. You can do this, she mentally told herself. She could all ready start to feel the backlash of time manipulation setting in, but the children were her priority. Adrenaline gave her an extra boost of speed as rushed toward the kids, grabbing them and pushing them out of harm's way as time started and the tree caught on fire. Kaezae hugged them close to her, muttering a prayer for protection under her breath, "...Dear heavenly Father, protect us from these flames and others who have suffered from this act of pain and wrath". Having finished her pleading to God, she smiled and whispered to the frightened kids "Don't worry, you'll be okay."

Cole was dreaming, but it only qualified as a dream only because he wasn't conscious. It could almost be considered a vision of sorts. He was floating in complete darkness, but oddly, he could see himself clearly if he looked down or held his hand in front of his face. Cole could remember everything from before he passed out: sensing Lyra, the overwhelming hatred, the fiery destruction he caused, and finally reaching the limit of his power. Even in this dream-like state he could feel the horrible pain in his throat; he was sure that his ability to speak would be none too good for at least the next twenty-four hours.
Suddenly, a red light appeared, seemingly from far away. As it grew closer, Cole saw that it was actually two swirling balls of fire. Then, as if a switch was flipped in his head, he realized with horror what, or rather, who it was. The flames were before him, quickly resembling a glowing pair of eyes so arcane and evil that it turned Cole's blood to ice. "Do you realize what you've done...?" The voice was deep and rolling, like distant thunder. It spoke calmly, but the authority behind those words demanded full and utter attention. "Sir, what I did was not in any way on-" Before he could explain himself, the fearsome voice inturupted. "DO NOT PESTER ME WITH EXCUSES!" it boomed, causing Cole to flinch. "I, the First Fallen One, am very disappointed, Cole... What you've done today nearly cost us everything." Cole remained silent, trying to think of some sort of explanation that was sufficiant. He knew deep down that Lucifer wouldn't kill him, but that didn't exempt him from indescribable torture. "I'm truly sorry..." Cole continued hesitantly. "I didn't mean for things to go so far. Of all people, you must know that the taint you scarred my soul with takes over. But I assure you, it won't happen again." Even though Cole sounded convincing enough, inside he wasn't so sure. He wasn't reprimanded for his first loss of control, and he caused a larger amount of destruction then. "I'll have to take your word for it." Lucifer said with a sinister chuckle. "Just remember that if you foul up my plans again... well, just use your imagination..." With his final words, the fiery eyes disappeared, along with his echoing, maniacal laughter, leaving Cole alone once again.
He was still in the dream, but now his mind was clouding, his thoughts becoming less coherent. "Dammit..." Cole growled, trying to stay focused, but to no avail. In what seemed like seconds he drifted away further into the dark recesses of his mind...

Lyra thought about waiting for Cole to wake up. He had wanted to talk to her hadn't he? Yet he did just try to murder me. Lyra smiled and made her decision. She jumped from the building and descended. Reaching the pavement, she landed gracefully on her feet when a sudden...sense came over her.
  "Kaezae.." She whispered.
She began walking toward the sorce of the power she felt.

As if though Father had answered her prayer himself, the flaming rain stopped and disintegrated. Only quickly cooling ash remained, a gray blanket covering the ground and rubble. Kaezae slowly stood up, keeping the little ones close to her. She looked upwards towards the sky, and then surveyed the surroundings. "Put your trust in the heavenly Father and he will not lead you astray..." She whispered softly to herself, and then loudly with conviction. "He will not lead me astray." The fallen became lost, I will not lose my trust. She looked back down at the children, and smiled kindly.
"I want to see mommy..." the younger of the two cried. The older one remained silent, staring in shock at the broken landscape. Kaezae knelt back down and kissed both of their heads, bringing both back to their sense. "I'll take you two back to your mommy, so put your trust in me," she said as she looked into their eyes and held their hands gently. Dear Lord, please bless these children with strength and perseverance so that they will triumph over hardship... Standing up again, she led them both away from the destroyed tree and toward a larger gathering of people. Her body screamed in pain with each step she took, but she ignored it and focused on walking. The children. The children...I will conquer this for them.

Nel had had enough of just sitting around and doing nothing for the sake of the reputation she held with the humans. This matter was important and she couldn’t just sit there and let the city be destroyed knowing that she was able to stop it. With determination, she stood and made quick work of removing the rollers from her hair. “Alec, I need to leave,” was all she stated in a tone that said the matter wasn’t up for debate. Of course, that didn’t stop Alec from questioning her as to why though his questions would go unanswered as she made her way down the stairs and out of the building. All voices directed toward her went ignored. She pushed the doors open and stepped out into a sky that wasn’t hailing balls of fire. She stood in the middle of the sidewalk and looked up, pieces of ash falling onto her face like dark snow. She lowered her head and looked at the empty streets that were quickly being covered with ash, a worried and surprised expression on her face as thoughts ran through her head. Something in her head yelled at her and she snapped out of her daze and started to run away from Design. She had no clue of where Cole or anyone was, but she would find him if it took her all night.

With her dress slightly lifted in the front, Nel ran down the sidewalk as she tried to pick up on someone’s power. She indeed found someone, though not anyone she wanted to see at the moment. Nelec, was the loud whisper she heard in her head as if someone had called her name out loud from a distance. She looked around and noticed a pale guy standing against the corner of a building that led into an alley. He was finely dressed in a black pin stripped suit, a deep red dress shirt, a black tie, shiny black shoes and a hat to match. The figure grinned at her, showing pointy teeth that should never be in a humans mouth. Nel blinked and the figured disappeared. Or, so she would have liked to believe. She looked to her left and right before giving a soft sigh and making her way into the alley. Low and behold, the figure stood waiting for her. “You disappoint me, Nelec,” he said in a deep voice as he leaned against the brick wall behind him like he was some kind of classic gangster. “I beg for your forgiveness. I was caught up and--” “Stop right there,” he said as he interrupted her both vocally and physically by holding up a hand as he stood up straight and made his way over to her. “You have your talent because I gave you a job. If you aren’t going to do your job, then WHAT. GOOD. ARE. YOU!” Time seemed to skip for Nel as one moment she as facing him, watching him come closer, and the next she had a clawed hand wrapped around her throat that was holding her up off the ground as her feet dangled in the air. All she could do was make whimpering sounds as her hands tried to pry the fingers from around her throat. She wasn’t sure if he was going to choke her or cut her head off from the way the claws dug into the skin. The eyes of the figure had turned red in fury as he looked at the helpless fallen in his grasp. With a sound of disgust, he threw her into a brick wall and watched as she bounced off of it before hitting the ground. Nel sat on the ground coughing and gasping for breath as she gently placed her hands around her neck. Satan walked over and put a clawed finger under her chin and forced her head up so that she was looking at him. “You know I’m your last hope, Nel. You know that He isn’t going to do anything for you. If He cared so much about you then why hasn’t He taken you back yet?” Satan gently caressed her blond, curly hair as he spoke in a soothing voice. “I can make you so powerful and give you whatever you want. But, you need to do what you’re here for. DON’T,” he stated as he forcefully took hold of her face, “fail me again.” He released her face, stood and started to make his way out of the alley, disappearing before he got to the end of it.

Nel’s heart pounded in her chest as she continued to sit in the alley for a while with her hand around her neck as she looked at the ground. She had let her human job interfere with her real job so of course she would pay for it. What else did she think would happen. She placed a hand against the wall behind her and stood up onto shaky legs. She made her way out of the alley, holding her head down and stealing glances of what was in front of her like an abused child. She would eventually get over it, a little, as she continued her search for Cole.

Leo was anticipating the stop of the destruction outside. He would've enjoyed it more if he had caused it and if it hadn't ruined his plans. This was the second time today that Cole had ruined his day, which resulted in Leo wanting Cole to pay some how. He was sure it would happen soon enough, especially when Satan caught up to him. After all, Leo knew that he could not make Cole pay for many reasons. Mainly for the fact that Cole was more experienced and powerful than him. Leo heard the crashing of the giant fire balls stop along with some of the screams. Leo suddenly was filled with great amount of joy as he looked out the window. The havoc had stopped and all that was left was dark ash in the sky. He looked at Emily as she walked to the window to see what made Leo look like a kid on Christmas morning. She too saw what had happened and was overcame with happiness as tears fell down her cheeks.
"We survived." she happily said as she hugged Leo. He began to wonder what had caused this change. Maybe Nel stopped him. Maybe He found Cole. he thought as he stood there, hugging Emily. "Yes we did." Leo said as opened the curtains all the way. Leo stopped embracing Emily as he told her he was going to tell Veronica the good news. He knocked and opened the door slowly to give her some time to wake up or prepare for his entrance. He peeked his head in and said, "Hey the chaos is over. I'm going to get Em back to her apartment and we'll decide what to do next when I get back." He closed the door and grabbed his coat. "Em, lets go check on your apartment. That way we know if you need a place to stay." She grabbed her purse and coat, and they left.
They arrived at her apartment and it was surprisingly intact. He walked her up the stairs to her apartment and went in. He stayed for a few minutes and told her that he would be back later that night. He went to walk out the door, but she grabbed him. She gave him a kiss on the check for being with her and keeping her safe. She then closed the door and he was on his way.
As soon as he was back outside he took out his cell phone. He scanned the phone book for Nelec's number. He finally found it and hit the send button. The phone rang and rang as he patiently waited for her to answer. "Hi," as soon as Leo heard that he began to speak only to find out it was her voice mail. "Hi, you've reached Marhyse. Leave your name, number, and message at the beep. I'll get back to you as soon as possible." it said before the beep. "Nelec call me back ASAP. If you haven't noticed, the gates of hell have closed and I wanna know what's going on. Leo.' he said before placing the phone in his pocket. He continued to walk to his apartment to get back to Veronica to discuss further plans. On the way he saw a black '69 Ford Mustang Fastback with a red racing stripe. It was cleaner than a whistle and all he could do was stare. The car looked as if it just came from an auto show and Leo told himself that he would have it one day. Leo climbed the stairs to his apartment and walked through the door and shouted, "Veronica" he paused as he closed the door, "I'm back. Let's get this plan made."

Kaezae had successfully delivered the children to their mother, who was one of the people in the group that had gathered. Many tears were shed, but there were smiles all around as loved ones and friends reunited and shared equal relief that they had survived. However, not everyone was overjoyed, for some had still not been found. Slowly making her way around the people making displays of affection towards each other, she gingerly approached each desperate and forlorn looking individual and spoke words of encouragement. Some she couldn't do anything for, as they seemed deaf to the world even at her touch. As she slowly made her way to a bench that had not been destroyed during the downpour, her feet gave out from under her and she crashed into a lady who had been walking by. "Hey, watch it!" She shoved Kaezae away from her roughly, giving her a glare and walked on.
"I'm sorry..." Kaezae whispered, as her eyes started swimming before her. A pounding ache had set into her, causing her to feel woozy and disoriented. I need to get to somewhere quickly, I don't think I can hold up any longer. She took small steps and got to the bench, and with each she felt weaker and weaker. As she sat there, leaning on the the backboard for support, she couldn't help but wonder where Lyra was and how she was doing. Does she know the reason behind today's...her thought cut off as she went out like a light.

As Nel walked, she tried to think of something that would correct the current issue of fire falling from the sky. She knew the religious people would be all over it like white on rice and it wouldn’t take much convincing for people to start following their lead and believing what they say. She continued to look at the ground as she walked and thought, not paying any attention to her surrounding as people started to emerge from the safety of cover for the second time that day. She thought of a plan that might work, but it would take a lot of coordination and she would need Leo’s help as well as Veronica’s. She brought her hands up to rub her temples as Satan’s visit was in the very front of her mind.
Her thoughts were interrupted as a power surged through her. It was weak and barely noticeable, but there none the less. She looked up toward the roof of a building that towered over her. She doubt the elevators would work and it would take her forever to climb that many stairs. It seemed that she didn’t have a choice but to fly if she didn’t want to get in trouble again for being too careful. She made her way to the back of the building and looked around to make sure the coast was clear before changing form. Her pale skin turned dark as a coal as her fingers turned into pointed claws. Her hair went from being blonde and curly to being black and straight as the sockets that used to contain her grey eyes became nothing but pits which emitted a dim, white, glowing light. Even the features on her face disappeared, making it a smooth surface with no nose or mouth. Long, black wings sprout from her back in all of their full glory before she took off from the ground. She flew straight up the back side of the building as she was less likely to be spotted that way.
Finding Cole passed out on the roof, she landed and made her way over to him. She looked over his body at first before going to sit on her knees and placing his head in her lap. She wanted to slap his face off for the stunt he had pulled, but instead her black, clawed hand moved his hair from out of his face as she gently gave him a shake to try and wake him. She wasn’t sure how out of it he was so she threw in some soft taps to his face just for good measure. If it was required then she would bring her hand across his face with force to slap him awake as goodness knew she wasn't about to go and find a cold glass of water to pour on him to shock him awake. She didn't bother to change out of her true fallen form as he would probably feel better to waking to this form, if he woke at all, than to a blonde who resembled the angels. The last thing she needed was him acting without thinking before he grasped the situation.

Cole felt his body jerk slightly in the infinite darkness he was in. Oddly enough, his current body didn't move, but it was as if he sensed his physical self be moved. This immediately jolted him to his senses. Come on, focus...! he thought, still foggy-headed. Cole persisted in focusing all of his energy into the movement; a sharp pain quickly blossomed in his skull. Suddenly, the a small light pierced the shadows around him, slowly pushing away the black.
As if waking from a dream, Cole's eyes fluttered open, and a feminine, yet demonic face stared down into his. Not surprisingly, it didn't startle him. "Uunnngh..." he groaned, placing a clammy hand over his eyes to shield them from the light. He layed in silence, feeling the warm ashes fall upon him. A part of him was quite glad the destruction stopped; he didn't want to have to be guilty of another. Once he was sure his eyes would adjust properly, Cole said to Nelec, "What happened...?" His voice was completely shot, he could barely speak. Cole knew his question was utter nonsense, he knew exactly what had happened, but he just couldn't think of anything else to say.

Nel cocked her head to the side a bit, perplexed about the question that Cole had asked. Apparently he had been so gone that he hadn’t realized what he was doing. He voice sounded worn out as if he had done a lot of yelling or something of that nature. She blinked at him before the darkness started to fade from her form, starting with her head and making its way down to her feet so that she eventually sat there as the pale skinned, blonde haired woman that most recognized her as. “I was hoping you could tell me that,” she stated in reply to his question as her grey eyes looked down on him before she looked out at their surroundings. “I was at Design when balls of fire started to fall from the sky. It lasted for a while before it stopped and this ash started to fall. Does any of that sound familiar?” Satan’s visit wasn’t so much at the back of her mind as she just wasn’t letting it affect her right now. Her tone of voice said that she wanted answers as to what went on though there was still fear in her from the little chat she had with him.
Without looking at him, she siphoned away a small amount of his power and spoke the words to stop the ash from falling from the sky along with the words for the sun to come out and for it to be a pretty day again. It was all she could do for many reasons. “Lets try to keep it like this so that the poor, ignorant humans below will remain that way. I’ve thought of a way to fix all of this but it’s going to take some coordination and cooperation from Leo and Veronica.” It was a statement, but it was her way of asking for his permission to carry out said plan in respect to his position as leader instead of just taking it upon herself to do it. “Are you able to stand and walk? You look like you could use something to eat and a good rest.” She brought her gaze to look down at him again and offered him a warm, relaxed smile. She knew what she had to do from now on, but as for now she needed answers and the leader of the fallen needed to regain his strength.
