Veins started to bulge upon the good doctors face, as he spun the greatsword with remarkable ease (it was remarkable because the sword was 10x bigger than him) and sheathing it horizontally across his back in its holster. He waited patiently for Estrella's laughter to die down before he spoke, all at the same time doing his best to keep him for outright killing her.

Estrella had been an old colleague of Dr. Hugo, due to his medical history his first encounter with Estrella had been when she came in as a patient, severely injured..and he personally oversaw the surgery. While her personality was slightly irritating, Estrella was a rather decent person, and he could get along with her well enough, but she had a tendency to keep making short jokes in his presence, and she never really learned the first few times Dr. Hugo had flat out tried to kill her.

Speaking slowly, and patiently, many people credited his voice to sounding exactly like the famous professor Einstein. No surprise there, though he was from America he was born of German descent. Another thing Estrella liked to tease him about. With his veins still bulging, Hugo said, "What do you want Estrella? I am very busy man".

With his anger gone and his veins calmed, Dr. Hugo jumped up onto the counter, sitting down Indian Style. He stared at Estrella while she talked, a bit grateful in her change of attitude towards him. He much preferred more civil and intellectual discussion. "Mr. Akasun has only added on an extra occupation. I am both the weapon shop owner and a teacher of Ludus Academy and I will still be respected as such young woman". Dr. Hugo then took out a pipe and lit it using unseen means. Being a doctor, one would think that smoking would be taboo, but Dr. Hugo had invented tobacco that was basically harmless, but still gave the body its desired effect. Taking a puff of the smoke, Dr. Hugo spoke while the pipe was still in his mouth, "Since I have the sneaking suspicion you won't be leaving all that quickly, you might as well explain what you have been up to". Dr. Hugo then took another puff of his pipe.

Dr. Hugo Hughes grimaced...he had forgotten she hates smoke. "Don't see what the big deal is", he muttered under his breath as he put it out. As he listened to the woman, Dr. Hughes had a good dose of growing sympathy. While he did like what was being done here, as it could propel science into new directions, Mr. Akasun's methods of gathering test subjects back when the Gene-X was still in its early stages was...highly questionable. Almost so to the point where Hughes was about to step in until Mr. Akasun made it to where now test subjects of the drug would volunteer for it, rather than being forced to take it.

It was no secret Hughes was against Akasun's policies. Only thing keeping him there was once again the potential for the betterment of humanity. Perhaps it is because of his rough and gruff, brutally honest attitude that made him rather popular with the early test subjects. In reality, Dr. Hughes was one of the only true allies they had, Estrella included. He had fought for their rights to be treated humanely, sometimes met with success, other times met with failure.

"What have I been up to? Hmmmmm...as of today after I got transferred to here to be shop owner, nothing much. Before then however, logistical analytics's of the effects the Gene-X inflicts upon certain students, ordering medical supplies, observing possible mutations within the Gene, the cultivation of all the young minds that happen across this island, and some other personal errands Mr. Akasun himself tasked me with".

Hughes glanced at the clock, if he was right the time was approaching when a student would be coming his way in order to level up, and he was to be the supervisor over his test. He only just learned about this via letter earlier today when Hughes opened up shop.

Estrella turned her head at the voice and smiled. She stood up straight and spoke with a thick spanish accent."Yes that midget sitting on the counter is Doctor Hugo. Now I guess I should take my leave so you can torture the poor boy. Have a nice day doctor."She quickly walked out of the shop before the doctor could do anything to her. She did this on purpose. The anger of the short doctor was now going to be targeted on the student instead of her now. You could hear her laughing as she ran out. (EXIT)

Jonathan's left eyebrow raised up when the doctor's mood took and explosive turn for the worse. Now seeing what gunner was hinting at when he talked to him earlier, he decided to take a few measures to increase his chance of coming out of this encounter alive. "My name is Jonathan Haste. I was sent here to seek the great Doctor's tutelage, and to be tested by his brilliant mind to see if I am worthy to ascend to the next level." Jonathan had bowed down as he spoke, hoping that by showing Dr. Hugo respect, his would become more favorable.

Jonathan smiled when he noticed the doctor's surprised, even disbelieving expression. To show him that what he was reading was actually true, he lifted both his arms up so that his hands could be easily seen. Jonathan focused his energy into his hands, causing icicles to form on his right hand, and electricity to spark along his left arm, and the dented iron shield that he had strapped on his forearm. "I wasn't too interested in the sub styles the school had to offer, so I focused more on the main styles."

As Dr. Hugo spoke about the improbability of the two Gene-X being able two co-exist in the same body, and what happened when it didn't, Jonathan started to realize just how foolish he was in doing just that. "Well hopefully I wont spontaneously combust anytime soon." He ran his fingers through his hair, he was a little nervous now that he realized how close he came to dieing.

After hearing what Dr. Hugo had said, about how Jonathan had only a month to live, he just stared blankly at the doctor almost like he hadn't actually heard what he had said. In fact Jonathan was basically in shock now that he knew he only had a month to live, and that month would be spent coughing up blood, having seizures, and having heart attacks. He was frightened to say the least, but surprisingly enough it wasn't the his death that frightened him, but it was the realization that he wasn't going to learn any more of his main styles, and he wasn't going to be able to experience the thrill of being able to see just how far he would be able to take his flashy new abilities. "Well that's not good." He said in a low monotone voice, his face still in the almost uncomprehending expression. "Is there anything that can be done about it?"
