Arete Muse 
As the song ended, Arete gently rested his guitar in his arms and looked down at Angel with a brimming and bright smile. "Hello there love." He said, his irish accent being noticeable for the first time to her. "My name's Arete, and these are the Children of Sound." He said, pointing behind him at the monster-like kids who played with their instruments. Arete referred to them almost as he would a band. "And you have come to me to ask for something, am I right?"

Angel looked at the monster like kids. Children of Sound? She wondered what he meant. But then her attention was brought back to Arete. He seemed like a pretty nice guy. "I've come for training. And to level up. Will you help me?" she said.

"Perhaps." Arete simply replied. He hopped off of the stage to rest his guitar against the wood. "What do you have to offer me in return for this level up?"
Cheshire smirked widely in Angel's arms. Arete was always like this, a generous giver but one that always asked for compensation as well, like a trade.

Angel stared blankly at Arete for a few seconds. Then she looked at the ground and gave his question some serious thought. She didn't really have anything on her to give except Cheshire's tail, but that would be a pain to cut off.
So what else could she give him? Well he seemed to like music. She looked up at him again. "I could sing you a song," Angel said.

"A song?" Arete repeated after Angel with a slight grin. "Well, I suppose that would be lovely, but honestly I can't tell a good song from a bad one. It would be a poor measure of your skills." A small girl, a cyclops, walked up next to Arete and whispered something in his ear. A quizical look befell the Muse's face and so he glanced at the other children. Their solemn nods seemed to indicate that they had an idea of sorts. "Well thats...uhmm"
"We want Tempo!" the unruly child-boy with a horn on his forehead exclaimed.
"Oh yes!" Squealed a blonde girl with ram-horns. "Please bring him to us."
The cyclops girl also nodded.

Angel frowned and was disappointed. That was all she could think of. What else could she offer him? But then the kids started going on about Tempo? What was a Tempo? Or was it a who?
"Who are they talking about?" she asked Arete.

Arete held his hands up, trying to calm everyone down as he stammered. "Uhh...Tempo is another child, like these here. But I'm afraid he ran off into the jungle sometime ago. We found him, of course, but he refuses to rejoin us and wants only to be alone. We've played songs for the sake of baiting him back but so far he's been unresponsive."
Cheshire narrowed his eyes at the man and sank lower into Angel's grip.

"So one of your kids is rebelling and you're worried about him? What does he look like?" Angel asked. She was getting worried about the child. It was dangerous in the forest. And from the look of the kids on stage they weren't all that big or old. She held Cheshire close and petted him.

"He uhh..." Arete glanced at the kids before looking back Angel. "Looks like a boy, but wears animal skins and acts fairly primitive. I can only guess what experiments led to his creation but, there's his description."

Angel listened close to Arete's description of the boy. Then she nodded. " If I bring him back I level up right? I'll do it!" she said, grinning. Holding Cheshire close she waited for Arete's response before she walked away into the forest again.
"If you were a kid who didn't want to be found where would you go in a dangerous forest?" she asked Cheshire.

"Excellent!" Arete exclaimed happily. The children shared a similar reaction. Cheshire's squinted eyes showed a less then enthusiastic expression about this new quest he was being put on. "Cheshire?" Arete asked with a smile.
"Mmmmmmmm" the cat purred lowly.
"Won't you please guide Angel here to find Tempo?"
"Hhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm" Cheshire sank lower into Angel's arms. "hhhiiiiiiifff I have to." He hissed and leapt out of the girl's embrace to start walk off towards the jungle again.
Arete and the children radiated with a sense of pleasant appreciation as they smiled and waved to the two adventurers off to save one of their own.
"Cmmmmmon. Firrrrrrst we going to find Volume." Cheshire said as he led the way. "Shhhhhhhhhhhe'll know where he is."

Angel followed after the cat. "Who's Volume?" she asked. That was two kids with names related to music. Angel could only guess that all of them were monster musicians of some sort. Still, she was very grateful for a guide. "Thank you by the way," she said.

"Volume is both quiet and loud." Cheshire replied when Angel asked him who she was. Then he turned and looked at the girl with the widest of grins. "Who is you?"
"Cheshire." A girl's voice said out from the edge of the jungle where they'd neared. She had long and flowing white hair, and a dress of sorts, but the most distinguishable feature was one of her arms. It was large, and colored black with a claw at the end, like a bear or monster of some sort. "Be nice." She said with an unamused look.
"Am I ever not?" The cat coyly asked as he walked up to her.

That was a good question. "I don't know," Angel said. She had thought before she did, but who truly knows themself? There are always sides of themself a person can just discover. Angel looked up from Cheshire to see the owner of the voice they'd just heard.
The little girl was rather cute even though she was unusual. Angel smiled at her. "Hello, are you Volume?" she inquired.

The white haired girl silently nodded.
"Volume, we're looking for Tempo. You know the way, yessss?" Cheshire smiled widely.
Volume looked from the cat to Angel and then walked away without another word, going deep into the jungle.
Cheshire glanced back at Angel and rubbed against her leg. "I think we should follow."
