Aksaja frowned at the supplies for a few minutes, and then grabbed some paint, and sticks, and some construction paper. He already had an idea. Even if boats were supposed to float, he thought it would be much better if they could fly.

So he planned to give HIS boat some wings. There were a couple of false starts with his design, but eventually, he set the finished boat down in front of him. There! Surely, the wings would help it float, and the lightning bolt design would maybe uhm. Scare the water into holding it up or something. Yea!

Riley tried not to watch Malodore's boat after the second time. She tried. She busied herself with poking Charlie in the head, over and over, the way he had done to her.

Yeah. Yeah. Doesn't feel nice, does it.

Once satisfied with his boat, Aksaja picked up his creation and marched up to the front of the room, setting the boat down gently into the water in the bucket.

Come on, come on . . . And YES! It floated! Aksaja grinned and plucked his boat out of the water. Wings = win, clearly.

It could hardly bear it. Malodore, in high disgrace, withdrew numbly back to its desk. If nothing else, it could be persistent. Oh yes. It could be here for days. It didn't need to sleep.

This. Was. Going. To. Work.

Under the lenses, its eyes flashed with determination.

It was, in a way, almost anticlimactic when the little boat fell into the water for the fourth time and... floated.

..........

"... praise Steve," it muttered.

Charlie winced as a surprise poke came his way. And then another. And another. And another. The pink haired demon missed Malodores more fail then his at trying to get a boat to float because Riley had been poking his head.

"H-Hey!" He flailed at the purple demoness. "HERE! You have some!" The demon poked back at her tentacles with all his poking skills.

Oh, people were testing their boats, were they? He'd show them. West turned back to face the front of the room, holding up a finger to Holly as he did so, even though she hadn't shown any desire to respond to him.

He rose to his feet, waiting until Malodore was done sinking its boat, like, nine times and Aksaja got his to float in one try, before setting his own in the water.

At first, it looked like things were going to work out. The crippled little boat kept itself afloat on surface tension for all of three seconds! Then it flopped on its side and began to slowly take on water. Fail.

As soon as the pokes had returned to her tentacles, however, she started flailing and slapping Charlie's hands away. Okay okay stop that. No more poking. It's bad for you. It makes you go blind. This is a fact.

It wasn't.

He snatched the stupid thing out of the water, sneering at it as he squeezed as much water as he could out of the paper ball and flung it back into the bucket.

"FLOAT, JACKDAMMIT!" he snarled.

And, lo, it did.

If humans really did get around in such stupid vehicles, maybe West didn't want to waste his time with them after all.

When Jericho felt satisfied with his little dragon boat, he got on up and joined the other students around the bucket to see if it would float. Poor Mal's didn't seem to have much luck. Riley and Aksaja seemed to do pretty well however.

Anyway, he tossed it into the water and was rather glad to see that it didn't sink. Success!

Bul wasn't going to risk seeing his precious boat model fall into the depths of the bucket. No way, not with how successfully it stayed bouyant. He did however watch Malodore in his fruitless endeavors and frowned.

"Come on little boat COME ON DAMNIT THIS IS s**t-" he practically coached the piece of wood them beamed happily when the plague doctor finally managed to get it afloat. "Alright!" he chanted and threw a hand up for a high five.

Charlie gasped at Rileys statement. Poking made one go -blind-!? Immediately the demon stopped completely and threw his hands up in the air. He was done now. Completely.... did that red haired demons boat sink too.... and then float. Charlie raised a brow not feeling completely alone. Maybe male demons sucked at boats. Yeah.

He'd of course been too preoccupied earlier to have seem Malodores failure.

She squeaked when the water came tumbling down, and heaved a sigh of relief at the fact that she had chosen to sit further back; she already took her shower for the day, thank you very much! As the professor briefed them on the assignment, she started to smile; crafts! She can do crafts!

She had been so focused on her own boat that she had failed to see the little monstrosity boat-thing made by Charlie until it was too late; still, it did manage to float, which brought a smile to her lips. The ship was so much like Charlie in a way; you can't not feel amused and cheered up by it.

Then again, Charlie's existence more or less proved that Mac is not a bad person at all, seeing how not everyone can appreciate his... Special-ness.

Getting back to the task on hand, she stared at the brown base they had been provided. Her own experience with boats had been minimal - like many of her fellow students, she assumed that the first boat they had been on had been the ones used during the school trip... And she was pretty sure boats don't end up being crashed on rocks, or attacked by giant squids on a regular basis. If they do... Well, she could see why humans would be so afraid of the many sea-faring Halloweeners.

While she had wanted to make a pink boat (surprise, surprise), she decided that it looked a bit too... Much and went for the grey instead. The mast and crow's nest was a must in her opinion, and she even painted on two portholes on each side. However, it was still too plain for her tastes... And she ended up draping spider webs all around. Always webbing, never not webbing.

... Now to see if it floats.

"Ah-" Malodore held its claw up almost automatically, somewhat startled that someone had been watching its Battle of the Boat with.... something other than complete scorn for its failure?

Its discouragement lifted, just a little bit. "Fourth time's the charm?" it offered, a little weakly. It was still a bit mortified by the whole affair.

Bringing her boat to the tub of water, she frowned, staring into it before slowly lowering her boat into it and letting go. It stayed on the surface, looking like it was going to float... And then flipped over, water entering it, causing it to go under.

Quickly, she retrieved it with a frown, pouring the water out before shaking it dry; so much for that.

She put even more webbing on her boat, seeing how water and webs don't go well together. Then, she slowly lowered the boat into the water again before letting go and staring at it. She stared and stared, like it would help the boat float.

... And it somehow did.

"Yay!" She cheered, grinning as she stood up, staring at her boat with a smile on her face; that was rather fun!
