i believe he howls at one piont making him more canine, and he does have more of a wolverine figure.

he has the strength of a tiger but is more panther in body. but has a wolfish head. how cool is he tho. hes da bestest character. too bad he wasnt in AC more.

Hm...he does howl somtimes...but at the beginning of AC, he roared, which is definately a more tiger/lion/feline-like trait...
I think Tetsuya Nomura designed Red to be neither feline or canine, just to have some basic features from both. Everyones familiar with cats and dogs, some people are cat lovers, other dog lovers, not that that really makes any sort of difference. In the end, Red's just an original creature, imho. ^.^ An original AWESOME creature. xD
