In the first season they had some important information, but they where more concerned with introduceing the expanding main the characers... Since then in Season 2 to now has had hinted if not greatly pointed out importiant information... sometimes if you don't already know it, you wont pick up on it, but it's there...

Season 1 was the starter to information about Clark and about him learning his skills and about who he is gong to become. They took the things LEARNED in season 1 and toook them into season 2 into season two the things from season 1 started to become more and more obvious and useful to Clark's everyday life. Not to mention the information he learned in Rosetta. Rosetta was and an amazing episode that was LOADED with information about Krypton and Kryptonite, it was when Clark actually learn the phisiology and contenuety of his why and whereabouts. Then there was season 3. season 3 was an amazing season for info. and not to mention the season 4 stones thing and this seasoon with getting more comic characters and FoS and Brainiac.

I did think several aspects of this season were less than as good as they could have been. Mainly the Clana relationship came to a plateau and stayed there for forever, it seems! But I think I'm really going to like this new Lana they're bringing out. I also was so excited to see James Marsters as Braniac. They did a lot of cool stuff with him and I hope they continue. I also really like the progression that Chloe has started to take. The episode where they thought she was going crazy was a great episode for her character. So, mainly, Smallville has to plough through some of it's character issues, but, overall, it's still the same great show, and it continues to show that even now.

The progress and quality has, in my opinon, gone up. Smallville was always great. But being a comic reader and fan of the comcis, i like this whole new light they are setting on Clark. about how he is growing up into the man we have always known he would be come. how events in his life now are going to affect his life in later years.

I think the progress has gone up too. Its getting alot more intesting in my opinion because you have so many things going on at once. Itsj ust alot more of an intesting storryline in the new episodes. i also think that chloe is alot more interesting of a character and has a alot bigger impact on me then any of the other seasons. also i just think the acting has been better and its been more enjoyable to watch. Anyways my mom thinks the exact opposite. she thinks that the old episodes were more interesting and the new episodes are silly and pointless. She hated the saw episode(mercy) and though it was silly epciecally but i think it had a VERY powerful meaning to it

I don't think that old first season episodes were silly or pointless at all. They really fulfilled what Smallville was originally soppose to be about. they served their purpose now S5 is servings ITS perpose
