"Maybe the people who are pulling the strings have something in mind for us? I mean, if they can erase our memories, send us to this strange place, and have deadly horses pit us against each other for a stupid pendant then who is to say they can't control what happens to us after death? I mean, I think that example with thinking we killed off people only to have them pop back up as a good example, don't you think?"
E8 knew he stabbed his targets and stabbed them good. He knew his team mates had finished them off and was pretty sure their bodies vanished right before his eyes. However, to see the bodies vanish and then see the opposing members strut right back in, that was just something that twisted his mind.
"When people die they are supposed to stay dead, right? So why did those people come back after we saw them died and then vanish with the wind? This place just isn't right. It doesn't follow any rules of nature."

Keeping his arms crossed, yII took a moment to think about why they hadn't moved on. It wasn't too hard to come up with some possibilities for that.
"I don't know about you guys but I have some regrets. The one or two days I was alive while down there wasn't exactly a fulfilling life either for that matter. I don't know who I am or what goals I might have had aside from staying alive. I'd say that's enough to keep me behind..." he said, "Unfinished business and all that jazz."
"I hope we aren't stuck here forever though..." he said before looking at eVIII. He had heard of the whole being brought back to life, but he hadn't exactly witnessed it happen so he wasn't sure what to make of that in particular. If there was something else planned for them, he had to really wonder what that was all about.
"I guess that's possible too. I'm just having a hard time coming up with what that plan might be..."

(( yVII is entering from the Lighthouse Area! )) "--Being a Leader sucks. Don't do it, guys." Gamma Seven grumbled as though sleep talking; it had been what he wanted to tell the rest of the crew before he died, but they were words that had, at the time, almost literally died on his lips.
Blood, Pain and Panic were the last things that Gamma Seven remembered. But as he started to fully come to, he slowly started to realize that all those things were gone; there was no copper taste in his mouth, no screaming pain with every single move he made, and no panic that came from a flickering creature (there was no way he was calling that thing a person or player) taking a murderous lunge at him.
He was too shocked by his surroundings to consciously utter his attempted final words...or even to realize that he had already said them. Instead he stared around him. A...lounge? There were quite a number of people in gas masks and various coloured armour in the lounge, but his mind could really focus on one really big thing: A lounge. All that fog, all those monsters and all the pain and suffering...and he ended up in a lounge?!
Actually, that was pretty cool.
An odd feeling overcame him then; he died. He knew he died. He really, truly ******** died...but yet here he was, mostly alive (or at least conscious enough to pretend he was alive) and in a rather swanky lounge. Two very strong urges tore through him; one told him to panic because he died, and the other told him to cheer because it seemed his life wasn't over.
In the end, he most stood there like a drone, swaying a little bit in discomfort as his feelings waged war; the victor would become apparent soon enough.

Hearing a familiar voice suddenly in the area, yII looked around, seeing yVII standing nearby. Blinking for a moment, he stared at him, realizing this meant that his comrade had died. He had to wonder if this meant that the others they had left behind were in danger now... So it was both relieving and concerning to see the guy here. yVII was a good guy to have around and now there was a little extra company here. Unfortunately they were dead and there was no telling how long they would be stuck in this place.
"Gamma Seven!" he called out while standing up, "What happened? I mean... well.. aside from dying."

"Yup, I'll greet them alright," She nodded at Gamma Two, grinning behind her mask; if any of those in her group end up here... Would she be sad? Angry? Glad for the company? It was hard to tell at this point, especially after having her emotions ripped out of her like that just a short time ago... But what wouldn't she give to hear someone call her Boss agai-
"Heh, I suppose I'm just that charismatic," Her voice seems softer somehow, as she addressed E-4, but it was still her and it gave the impression that she wasn't exactly joking, "We're all human. Unless you are a psychopath, you must have some shred of humanity in you, blah blah blah. Yes, that includes me." She rolled her eyes, her head flopping back to rest on the couch again; humanity won't bring her back to life though.
"Who knows?" She continued as she stared at the ceiling, "We'll find out at the end of the week, I suppose, not that I'm keeping track of time."
She heard a new voice - a voice that was familiar but not really. Lowering her gaze, she realized that there was now a new arrival - and not just any new arrival. It was the one who had been with Gamma Two at the Lighthouse, before she and Gamma Two did something stupid and got themselves killed away from the group. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
"Being a leader ain't easy," She laughed, "Welcome to purgatory, Gamma Seven. Enjoy your stay because I think you'll be here for a long, long time." Hey, she did say she would welcome them right? Ah, her attempts at humor are truly awesome.

E-12 was lost in her thoughts, the others’ words barely registering as a buzzing noise to her ears. If she’d paid attention she would have recognised their thoughts as mirroring her own, but instead she stared at her fingers, imagining curved claws in their place. The images were nagging at her mind. It wasn’t real. It couldn’t have been real. But then, nothing in this place fit into E-12’s definitions of reality.
I mean, come on. A talking horse?
The newcomer’s arrival snapped E-12 back to the present. So, people were still dying out there. She picked up on the newbie’s words and snorted.
“That’s why I said straight away that I’m no leader. But look where that’s gotten me.” She stood up and walked slowly towards Gamma Seven. “So,” she said conversationally. “How did you die?”
“Here for a long, long time” B-7 had said.
God, I hope not. E-12 turned from the newcomer and started pacing the room. Sure, it was a nice purgatory lounge, but E-12 didn’t want to spend eternity here, and she certainly didn’t want to spend eternity with these people.

He was on the verge of a complete freakout. It happened slowly at first with his breath coming in short, quick gasps. The breathing got faster and faster, and he was just about to start screaming...until he heard a familiar voice. The breath turned into a squeaking gasp that was thankfully muffled behind his gas mask.
"...TWO!" Seven cried out, moving across the room towards his team mate and once-leader, briefly pardoning himself for bumping into a couple people along the way. "You're not freaking out." He observed brilliantly, noticing Two's lack of spazzing more than anyone else in the room. Hm...Well if his fearless leader wasn't freaking out, he probably shouldn't either.
"Man, some thing that looked like one'a us attacked me! It was nasty! Stronger than the ******** hell horse!" He answered both Two and the Eta who addressed him, throwing his arms in the air in an exasperated manner until he settled and turned towards 'Boss'.
"You're damn right being a Leader isn't easy! It's what got me Dead. I'm pretty sure...it didn't go after anyone else. Just proves it's so much easier to let someone else do that." Seven was grumping now, folding his arms across his chest. Being a grunt was so much easier! Well, within reason; being bossed around completely was terrible.
"...So hey, you're dead too, then...? We tried waiting for you two." That urge to panic was still buried in his chest, but with everyone else so calm he was trying to keep it down.

yII was about to say something but tilted his head instead when yVII noted that he wasn't freaking out. It was an interesting observation for sure. Shaking off that feeling, he found himself grinning at his fellow Gamma, though that quickly turned to a frown as he listened to how he died.
He noted the words 'something' rather than 'someone', but it looked like one of them? It was a curious thought. It was also worrisome since there was still the rest of the group at the lighthouse. Trying not to think about that too hard, he nodded to yVII's question. Behind the mask, a slight crack of a grin reappeared at the thought that they had tried to wait for bVII and him.
"Yeah... I .. kinda got eaten alive by piranahs," he said while shifting his weight uncomfortably. It hurt like hell to be killed that way and he was doing what he could to not imagine that exact scene again. The constant biting and feel of his flesh being torn away. Tensing as the image hit him anyway, he shook his head vigorously.
"S-so now we're stuck here for who knows how long. Uh.. good to have you here though. Just.. try to relax I guess. There's not a whole lot else we can do," he said before pausing, "Do you know if everyone else is alright?"

"Something that looked like one of us...?" She eyed Gamma Seven, an eyebrow raised as she frowned behind her mask; strange... And powerful? She was sure none of the 'players' in this 'game' had prior combat experience - at least, she assumed that was the case by observing the way most of them handled their weapons. Even when she first used her dagger, it felt... Wrong to simply just hold it, and attempt to slaughter someone like cattle.
She only did it in a fit of rage, really...
"Heh, survived piranhas, only to be finished off by a poisoned dart," She laughed, waving a hand dismissively in the air, like it was not a big deal.
Her frown deepened, however, as she looked from Gamma Two to Gamma Seven again; didn't the latter speak of something about dead people coming back to life to get revenge or something? Zombies filled with rage? Or at least, she had dubbed it that while he failed to remember the term.
"Hey, Gamma Seven, you remember if the thing that attacked you have a number?" She tapped the side of her own gas mask, where a number was printed, "Or if that thing was wearing a particular uniform color? Try to remember. Its important so you better try your hardest..." Her tone suggested that she was dead serious; there might be something going on here, and she was determined to find out what!
At least then one of their questions - where did that missing person (she can't remember the name of the missing person, but she was sure someone else was paying more attention than her) from this room go? - might have an answer.

"So this dead person walks into a bar." Other than the dead giveaway of their voice, there had been no other notice of this strange figure standing right near the liquor stash. They pulled out a glass cup. "And he walks over to the next guy and goes 'Hey, what's the time?', and the guy next to him goes 'Well, why do you ask?', and the guy goes 'Well, you see, I'm just dead tired!'"
There was a very long, pregnant pause.
The figure finished pouring, pulling out two ice cubes with the tongs from a small bin. "Well gee, don't all laugh at once. I thought it was funny." Click, clack, swish. They took a sip. "Well, surprise, in case you haven't noticed, you're all dead. And no, this isn't the afterlife, this is a sort of net I created you see. A sort of failsafe against the-"
And then they faltered, they stance changing entirely. The figure simply slammed the glass back on the counter, and strode across the room, eyeing the sealed door. They put one finger on the door, swiping across it, as if inspecting dust or grime. "Oh, for the love of- 'It's totally secure', he says - bullshit."
They literally kicked the door open. "And you, all of you, just stay ******** put. Do not move a muscle."
They were gone again, the door slamming angrily behind them.

By this point, the arrival of another dead person didn't surprise E-4 in the least. After all, that's what this place was for. It was just a gathering of dead people, though the question of why they were here still bothered her.
But while Gamma Seven's arrival hadn't startled her, the presence of the strange figure made her jump. What made her nervous was how they were dressed: unlike herself and every other person she had seen thus far, the figure donned a cloak instead of a gas mask and armor. She opened her mouth in an attempt to speak--Who are you? she wanted to ask--but nothing came out.
She watched the figure in silence, her body tensed as she followed them warily with her gaze. However, this wariness faltered, making way for intent curiosity when the figure revealed information about the room they were trapped it. Net? What does he mean that this is a net?
Unfortunately, she didn't have time to prod for further details when the figure's countenance suddenly changed completely. E-4 gaped, wide-eyed, as the figure kicked open the door, swore at them (well, it was part of an order, but the fact he was ordering them made her bristle anyways), and left. E-4 didn't even have a chance to blink during all of this.
...What just happened?
As confused as she was, there was one very obvious thing that stuck out to her. "What did they mean that this is a net that they created?" she asked at last, her still-widened eyes glued on the door, "Could that person be the one running this game?" It made sense, didn't it? The figure proved that he had much, much more information than everyone else E-4 had run across thus far did (which was to say that everyone she had met, herself included, didn't know squat).
Then there was that door. Where did it lead? That the figure had ordered that they stay put, but that didn't quell E-4's curiosity. If anything, it made her even more curious.

While the others discussed their situation and past histories, ε IX had lapsed into a nervous silence. She had been listening, yes, but it was as if she was at the bottom of a well and the others were somewhere far away. Not only had she been shaken by the recent events, but she was bothered by the fact that she was shaken. She thought of herself as this cool and collected near-automaton and now here she was, dead, apparently, with conflicting emotions and what appeared to have been a near death experience while dead on her hands. Just what was she supposed to think of that?
Her increasingly inward thoughts were interrupted by the appearance of yVII. She made no move to greet the newcomer, but watched and listened, half glad and half annoyed by the distraction. She had the disturbing feeling that they were like lab rats... Drop one on the maze, see how it does, pick it up by the tail and toss it back into the waiting bin when it dead-ended. Heh, dead-ended, she thought to herself, a whisper of a smile on her face behind that gas mask. She mulled that analogy over, growing more and more disturbed by the thought, but unable to shake the feeling that she might be right. Or paranoid.
A different kind of interruption caught her off guard a short while later as Death(!?) made its way though the room. How had that person gotten in here without anyone noticing? They'd all seen yVII appear, right? It had to be a dead person, they'd been drinking poisons she had looked at just earlier. After the mysterious figure was gone, she mulled over what he had said.
ε IV's questions were an echo of her own thoughts. She shook her head, "I have no idea. Perhaps there is normally something different from this place when you die. Maybe they weren't done with us... yet." The image of the rats in a maze popped back into her head, unbidden. "What do you think it meant about the door? Not secure? Do you suppose they are keeping us in? ...or something else out?" She was curious, but not nearly enough to actually go test the thing herself yet. Surely there were things worse than death, even for someone with no past and a shaky future.

The "sealed" door was making odd banging noises, much like the rustling of one-hundred mile winds fluttering against a barrage, but that made no sense whatsoever, no matter how one looked at it. What on earth could be on the other side of the door?
((OOC:
- If your character wants to take a turn trying at the door, roll a 100-sided dice. The higher the roll, the more the door shakes, but it does not yield, quite yet ))

((The E is for Epsilon))
E-12 paused in her pacing. Something that looked like us? She glanced down at her fingers and clenched them into fists. “What weapon did it use?” she added to Gamma Seven’s questions. Even if it wasn’t what she feared it was, knowing the weapon should help to identify the culprit. Were the sick game masters stacking the deck now? Making one of them more powerful than all of the rest?
Her line of thought was interrupted by the arrival of the strange figure. They, thanks, they’d noticed they were dead. They were in a net? So neither heaven nor hell. Or purgatory, really. Interesting, but what could it mean?
The figure’s change in attitude startled E-12. She was surprised when he stormed over to a door. Was that always there? And then he kicked it open! E-12 was going to scream if it was literally that easy to escape. Why hadn’t any of them noticed the door before?
“So...Do you think he means it literally? Don’t move a muscle?” E-12 wanted desperately to go examine the door, but she wasn’t quite ready to take any more rash actions here. Look where the “task” had gotten all of them.
The banging of the door made up her mind for her. If she was going to be stuck in a purgatory net for the rest of her life? death? one week? it wasn't about to be with that racket. E-12 was going to try it. She strode purposefully towards the door and delivered it a kicked. It didn’t seem to make much of a difference.

yII looked towards Beta Seven, then back to Gamma seven. It seemed that she had some slight idea of what might have attacked the guy. Crossing his arms again, he went on to try and think on it when someone new suddenly appeared. Looking up, he saw a blue cloaked figure with... a big blue and gold scythe. That was new.
Furrowing his brow, he stared at the strange figure, wondering just who or what the hell he was and flinched when the figure disappeared behind a slammed door.
"A net?" he repeated while looking over at eIV, catching the same thing she had, "I... guess he could be. But that would explain why there aren't people not from the island in here."
One question answered, but a couple more ended up taking its place. yII looked on over towards eIX, then to the door mentioned. It was hard to say which of the two this door was for exactly. Cautiously, he stepped on over towards it to get a better look.
"Technically we aren't moving any muscles, eXII. I don't even think my body has any muscles left on it at this point to move," he said grimly, shuddering at the thought of the piranahs once more. Damn fish. Stuff like that was supposed to only happen in movies! They're not supposed to be super bloodthirsty!
Turning back towards the door, he watched as it started making some weird noises. Gritting his teeth, he nodded to eXII and went to try and ram it with his shoulder.
