Her cheeks were a medium shade of pink. "I-I'm not upset with you," she said. "You're just confusing me." She wanted to lie, but ended saying the truth.

I don't understand families, and you talk about the circus as if it is one great big family." She turned to look at him. "Pretty much everything about you and what you say confuses me."

He chuckled a bit, smiling brightly. "Well, it is a big family. And people are knit together. There may be some differences between the people, but they generally co-exist. And why shouldn't I be so happy?" He was still smiling.

"You shouldn't be happy if you have seen how sick people can be," she said. "I know for sure that people in this world are horrible." She frowned even more when she remembered living in the cage. "I thought," she started, but then paused. Was it really okay to ask him about why he was so nice if he was a gypsy? "Never mind," she said after a few seconds.

Anthony frowned a bit, looking at her. "Why add to the negative views of the world when you can work towards positive?" He asked, shaking his head. "No, no. What were you going to say?"

"I add in those negative views because of what I've been through," she said, not going into detail. "People can work to be positive, but there will always be negative people." She thought about whether she should say what she wanted to or not. For some reason, she felt like she should. "If you're a gypsy, why are you not how people say you are supposed to be?"

"Gypsys are supposed to horrible people," she said. "They're supposed to lie, pillage and rape." She kept her eyes focused on the ground. "I was taught that, but you, a gypsy, don't seem like that." She turned away from him. "Why aren't you like that? Why are you nice to me?" In her head, she added, 'Why do you make me feel so nervous?'

Anthony's frown deepened still as he looked at her. "Because that's what government officials want people to believe because they don't agree with the way we live. I'm not saying no bad gypsies exist, but they're only as common as bad people. However, myself and even the gypsy members of the circus are all good." He offered her another smile but she had turned away.

"So... everything they teach people about gypsies is a lie?" she asked. She turned back to him, feeling as if she kept going in circles. "I'm sorry," she said, "for thinking you were as they said." She smiled at him, but it was a bit weak. She didn't like being wrong as most people didn't. All of her questions but one were answered. Why did he make her feel so strange?

Anthony put on a smile. "Don't be, it's not your fault they drilled things like that into your head." He played with his flute a bit before putting it back against his lips and playing a short tune. "But people say a lot of bad things about people that aren't true. It's more common than it should be."
