Well, she said it was fine, but he couldn't help the feeling she'd wanted something else. There wasn't much to be done about it now, however, so he decided to let it go. At the mention of the stars, however, he perked up immediately, as did Leilani who had plopped down a couple feet away. "Si, they do. Tons of them, not at all like in the city. Too many lights there at night," he explained with a dismissive wave. Way too many lights, but that's what you got for being in a crowded city. "There are hardly any in Sandalwood, and what lights are on are usually hidden under all the trees, so if there's not many clouds the sky is usually perfectly clear."
As if to put more meaning to his words, he suddenly flopped backwards to lay on the grass, peering up at the sky, smeared with pink and orange light, with some blue still in the east. "When I know the weather will be good, sometimes me and Leilani will camp outside without a tent so we can look at the stars. It's fun to try and pick out all the constellations," he explained, bright green eyes still focused on the sky. He suddenly propped himself up with his elbows, peering at her curiously, the makings of a typical lop-sided grin starting to form. "Is that another reason why you came out here?"

She brushed away whatever crumbs had settled on her person and inwardly nodded at Inigo's explanation. Her venture to Jinko had been her first encounter with a true starry sky, having previously mistaken planets and airplane lights as the celestial bodies that appeared in photos and on television. She had been veritably stunned by the sheer quantity of the things, and the night sky had become an object of particular interest.
"I can't say I'm not envious," she said with a mild smile. No matter how much she adored being outdoors, it was inconvenient to ask for leave whenever the forecast called for pleasant temperatures. At his question, she nodded. "I live in Camphoreon, so I don't get to see the stars that often, nor forests, nor lakes. So this is a bit of a three-in-one for me." She idly ran her right hand back and forth along her left fingers, waiting for some sensation to register. It wasn't a great hope at this point, but that didn't make her any less inclined to try it.

At the mention of being envious, he couldn't help but chuckle. "Yeah, I guess I am kinda lucky to live out here. I've always loved hanging out in the forest and stuff for as long as I can remember," he said as he flopped back down in the grass, faded memories of camping trips long past floating around at the edges of his mind. "It's nice because around here it's really easy to work on my research, there's so many different types of plants and flowers. Though I do like going to Camphoreon every so often to mix things up." The forest, as much as he loved it, got a little boring when he was in it practically every day for weeks on end. Variety was, after all, the spice of life. "Three in one? Make sure you see plenty of all three before heading back, then." Only seeing a little of each wouldn't make for a very fun trip. Then again, she could come back here whenever she wanted so maybe it wasn't that big a deal to see a lot all at once.

She nodded, "I guess this is something like an ideal environment for that sort of research, isn't it?" Certainly better than, say, Camphoreon or the desert. She hummed thoughtfully at the mention of mixings things up. "I can't say I'm too enthusiastic about seeing Camphoreon, myself. I suppose that's probably due in part to the fact that I grew up there, though..." She found it strange that the city was such a point of fascination to some, failing to recognize that she was the same towards the forest or the plains. Carefully, slowly, she leaned backwards and lay on the grass as well, staring up at the fading sunlight. "I plan to," she assured. "Or, I planned to. Hopefully this ridiculous injury won't impede me much." A short ways away, one of her small bags slouched and toppled.

"Si," he agreed, eyes still focused on the colorful sky, though he noticed when she laid down on the grass as well. "The city is nice because it's different," he attempted to explain, though his descriptions and way with words was normally lacking so he tried to make up for it and keep explaining. "Like.. I dunno, I don't think it's really exciting either, but I'm here all the time so it's just nice to see other places." There, that sounded better.
He sat up suddenly, a look of mild surprise on his face as if he'd just remembered or realized something. "It's getting late," he stated, as if the fact wasn't obvious, and then turned to look at his company. "You wanted me to stay, si? I didn't bring any camping stuff with me, so I'll have to go run to my house and get a few things. Is that alright? Can I do anything for you before I go?" Especially considering he'd be gone for quite a few minutes. He didn't know exactly how many, but still. Quite a few.

She nodded in comprehension, "It makes sense, yes." The forest wasn't the most thrilling location, after all, but she found it fascinating nonetheless. She flinched slightly when Inigo suddenly rose, an instinctive defense reflex seizing her. An explanation came shortly after, though, and she was sated, sitting up carefully. "Ah, no, that's fine." Not that she had actually said she wanted him to stay, and not that she would ask for anything even if there was something she needed. She could take the time that he was absent to switch into clothes more appropriate for sleeping, so that was convenient as well.

He completely missed the flinch, too busy trying to remember how long it'd take to run to his house and back. There was no way he was about to run off and leave her here if she needed help with something - not that she'd ever admit it, he was quickly learning - so he wanted to make sure before he left. "Are you sure? Can you get up by yourself, are you sure you don't need anything?"
Maybe she was fine, maybe she really didn't need anything, but.. she couldn't even get up and walk, and her arm was hurt, so she really did need help even if she didn't want to admit it. Well... He'd just have to try and help before he left, but if she refused then there wasn't much he could do, he decided, as he hoisted himself up onto his feet again. And laying in the grass was so comfortable too...

"Yes, I'm sure," she assured, a jokingly exasperated expression complementing her words. To prove her point, she rose from where she sat, climbing to her feet slowly and carefully. She wavered slightly when she had accomplished this but remained steadfastly upright. This complete, she moved her hand to indicate her success, "See? No troubles."

The display clearly alleviated his fears, and a relieved expression smoothed over his features. "Alright," he agreed with a light chuckle, catching the joking note as he dusted himself off. "Alright, then, I guess I can believe that," he chuckled again.
"Alright," he said again after a pause, this time a more sober tone as if he'd just decided something (because he kind of had decided something), "I'll be back soon, alright? Leilani you can stay here, okay? Stay." She was too slow to keep up anyway, plus... just in case. The Meganium "niuuu"d in agreement and plopped down by the fire happily, eliciting a light chuckle from her trainer at her complacency. With that, he started heading off towards Sandalwood, "I'll be back soon."

"That's not--" Well, even if it wasn't necessary, how likely was it that her saying that would legitimately dissuade him? Not very likely at all, no. It wasn't as though she disliked the Meganium's company anyway, so there was no harm. "Okay." What was next? Bye? See you later? Travel safely? Such a length of time passed in her floundering considerations that Inigo was already departing, so she decided to let the issue drop. Hopefully it wasn't bad form to let him leave without properly bidding him farewell...
The campsite effectively left to herself, apart from the smattering of pokemon, Aila breathed a sigh. She recalled the grouchy Metagross into its pokeball unceremoniously; he would only sulk if left there. A deft motion of her hand replaced the steel-type with her own large Venusaur, Fleur immediately beginning to prance about in fascination of her surroundings. As she started towards Leilani, though, Aila reigned her in with a sharp call, the grass-type turning to regard her trainer.
"Fleur, I require your assistance. You can have social time after." She had spent some length of time outside of the infirmary before regaining the use of her arm, and so she was well-versed in the assorted tricks that enabled her to function normally. The Venusaur's green vines were especially useful in replacing the functions of her damaged limb, and Fleur was already accustomed to the processes. Thus, it only took a few moments for Aila to change into the short gown and fleece pants that acted as her sleeping clothes. This complete, she carefully returned to her place by the fire, noting the shuddering of her pack as she did so. She extracted the black and yellow egg from her pack, holding it gingerly as it returned to stillness. Aulus had mentioned something about the wiggling, hadn't he? She studied the smooth surface quietly as Fleur moved to acquaint herself with the Meganium.

Inigo wouldn't know bad form if it bit him in the face. Well, actually he probably would but that was beside the point.
He ran from the makeshift camp all the way back to his house - jogged quite a bit too, intermittently - and hurriedly pulled a few things together. The few things being two slices of bread, some cheese, sandwich meat, and a couple toppings. He brought the sandwich into his room to eat while he changed into more comfortable pants and a different shirt, stuffed new pants and another shirt into a bag as well as a blanket, a comb - nah forget the comb, he didn't need it anyway - and a couple other things before strapping his sleeping bag to the bottom of it. The next stop would've been the front door but his mother cut him off, going on about proper dinners and running off without a word, and a bunch of other things, but eventually he managed to escape with a minimal amount of time lost - as well as a full water bottle, a container full of cereal, some fruit, and a thick slice of cake and some silverware to eat it all with stuffed into the top of his bag. At least he'd have breakfast in the morning now... So, with a hug and a poorly received "gracias" he was off running through the woods again.
Leilani pranced around Fleur when she was finished helping Aila, offering the large grass-type a gleeful "niuuu!" before she halted to dance in place instead. It wasn't often she got to meet other grass-types! ...actually she had met plenty recently, she just forgot most of them. Her memory wasn't always the greatest.
Eventually Inigo returned not too long after he'd left - 20 minutes tops, he guessed, though didn't have a watch - and dropped his bag near the tent with a heavy sigh. He wasn't the only one who'd changed. A dress? Nightgown? Whatever they called it, it was awesome, and.. oh. She was wearing pants under it. "Whew, back. Hope I didn't take too long.. My mom wouldn't let me go without giving me a bunch of food," he said with an airy chuckle as he sat down near the fire once more. Green eyes slid to the egg she was holding, one eyebrow raising in curiosity. "What's that?"

Fleur gave a bright "saur," raising a pair of green vines into the shape of a heart for greeting. For her, it really was infrequent that she was able to meet other grass-types, though meeting any pokemon at all was exciting to the extroverted Venusaur.
Aila watched a mild smile, reaching up to pull the tie from her dark hair and running her fingers through fallen tresses in lieu of an actual brush. Keeping it tied as she did generally kept it neat enough that brushing wasn't as much a concern in the evenings as it was in the mornings, and-- Oh, and Inigo had returned. She regarded him with a nod, "Welcome back." Had she been aware of his silent disappointment and the cause of it, she wouldn't have been quite so welcoming. Unfortunately for Inigo, the nightgown was only worn on its own when there was neither company nor the potential for company. He might take some solace that the gown itself was fairly low-cut, especially in comparison to her usual outfit - though the 'view,' should he choose to investigate it, was marred by a scar similar to the one of her arm.
She looked to the egg when he acknowledged it, "A pokemon egg." Well, that much was probably obvious. "I'm not sure what's inside, honestly. Someone told me he thought it was a Pichu." As if in an attempt to amend her words, the thing gave a shudder in her lap.

Leilani stared wide-eyed and open-mouthed as the other evolved starter made a heart with vines. It was quite possibly the most amazing thing she'd ever seen in her whole life forever. This called for more dancing.
Inigo tried his hardest not to ogle her pajamas - seriously, how often did he get to see girls in a tank top for pajamas? How about freakin' never - but when she let her hair down he couldn't help his wandering eyes. "Ahh, muy bonita," he commented, leaning back on his elbows in the soft grass. "Your hair is pretty when it's down. Prettier, I mean," oh crap now he'd gone and done it. Hopefully she wasn't one of those 'so it's not pretty the rest of the time?' sort of girls. He hated those.
Quick, distraction. Subject change go!
"A Pichu egg?" He cleared his throat slightly. "Well they're yellow and black, aren't they? I don't see too many," or maybe he did but he was usually too busy with Leilani or his plants and research, "but it looks like it could be. I don't know what other pokemon has those two colors together, so.." It seemed a very likely possibility, at any rate.

Fleur, excited by Leilani's dance, mimicked it - albeit clumsily, due to her larger girth. She used a brief, decorative Petal Dance to fill the immediate area with a flurry of the things. Like confetti, like a party!
"Wha-- Really?" She stayed her hand at the back of her head as if frozen in consideration. 'Pretty?' Wasn't that a word reserved for landscapes and gems? The color of her face likely indicated that the girl who was unaccustomed to receiving help was also unaccustomed to receiving compliments. "Well, um... Thank you." She quickly turned her eyes towards anything but her company. 'Pretty,' of all things. And said so nonchalantly, without any hint of obligation or deception. That was a first.
Subject change go indeed.
The mentioned egg wriggled again, attracting Aila's gaze. "It's been doing this fairly frequently, so I suppose I'll know for sure soon."
As if the words were a given permission, the black and yellow shell began to emit a soft light.

The heart was amazing enough, so when Fleur released a cloud of petals all around them, Leilani's mind short-circuited. Sort of. She froze in place, staring wide-eyed at all the gorgeous petals, completely and utterly amazed at how they looked and their sudden appearance, and and everything. It was like magic.
The reddening of her cheeks definitely did not go unnoticed, but he refrained from commenting. Huzzah for subject changes! Even more for the egg, which started.. glowing? Apparently the egg wanted a subject change, as well. Eggs weren't exactly a common sight - at least, not in his opinion - so his lack of knowledge about the things didn't strike him as out of the ordinary. It did make him feel a little sub-par in the intelligence department as it started.. glowing, so he couldn't help but hazard a guess as to why. "Is it hatching..?" Maybe? Possibly?
