Bertie listened to what Kris was telling her about payment options for the future. All this talk of staying longer made her consider if she thought that would happen. It hadn't occurred to her to stay here for longer than just tonight. At this point, it seemed unlikely that she would find a reason to stick around. She was getting rather tired of being on the move though. Her private thoughts were interrupted by Kris saying something about his social skill as he took the money from her hand. She let her arm fall to her side as she spoke.

"I would not have guessed that you have any difficulty with being social. To me, you appear to be doing fine. It is me that is off."

She had always disliked being social with strangers, so Bertie was certain that she was the one being difficult. To her, Kris seemed to be comfortable enough to get by. Maybe he wasn't exuding complete confidence, but that was about it.

"Do you not find yourself around people all that often?"

She wasn't sure what made her ask that question, but it was out there now.

Kris was speechless for a moment, this was the most he had really heard Bertie say but he was glad to know that she didn't feel he was being as awkward as he thought he was. He smiles and then seems to shake off some sort of mental fog and speaks with more confidence than before.

Oh, I am sorry. I didn't want you to think that but I do appreciate your compliments. It's kind of like this... when I was in college, I was very bad at being able to talk to people even up to my final year. I got better after that but then when I was running my own business I had less and less face time with folks so my skill went down... I guess. I think I am getting back to normal now!

Kris shifts his weight just slightly.

I think I kind of answered both your questions there. Heh.. I really do hope I will get to be around people more often. You and D were the first folks I have really had to be face to face with since I came here. I'll wipe these jitters away!

Kris looks around the room and then back to Bertie.

Is everything in order?

((Yeah, sorry I haven't been around either. I'm dealing with personal issues.))

Bertie was silent as Kris spoke. She was clearly listening to his words and taking them in. She was a bit surprised to hear that the seemingly outgoing man had any doubts about his interaction with people, but she supposed that she wasn't the only one who found it difficult to keep up conversations. However, she did find it odd that while running a business he wouldn't have face time with people. It must have been a type of business that she wasn't familiar with, but she didn't think to ask. She didn't want to get too personal with him, as he might find that odd.

Once Kris was done speaking, Bertie smiled slightly to indicate that she was not annoyed by his words. Looking around once more, she noted that everything was fine in her opinion. There was nothing she required at this point.

"Yes. Everything seems to be in order. Thank you for your hospitality."

Unsure of what she should do now, Bertie decided that she would like a bath. It had been sometime since she bathed in anything that wasn't natural water, not that she was complaining about that, but she thought it would be nice to have warm water. Not wanting to be rude, she tried to tell Kris to leave in a polite manner. It was obvious by her shaky voice that she wasn't confident about her words.

"Well...I think I'll have some time alone now. Again, thank you."

She waited for his response.

((*Waves* Hai H^2!!!))

Off in the distance, Sparks emerges from the country hillside with tote in hand ready to start her new mission. She walks with a pleasant way about her like she has no cares in the world. She watches the sun finally set and sees lights from the corner of her eye.

That must be it!

Sparks quickens her pace and reaches the place with the lights. She reaches inside of her pocket and pulls out a crumpled piece of black paper. Written on it in silver ink were the words "Dark Seas Harbor Inn and Tavern - K4 R4" Sparks nods with a slight smirk on her face and heads right inside with no hesitation.

Sparks shuts the door behind her and looks around. She leaves her sunglasses on and notices no one was around. She scrunches her face with disappointment as she calls out.

Hello? Anyone around?

She looks left then right then up the staircase and to the bar and stage. She knew someone was here due to all the lights so she stands still almost frozen in time.

Game on...

Sparks slowly slips her right hand into her tote grasping something firmly. After a few tense moments, she releases her death grip and removes her hand and heads over to the bar with much haste as if someone pressed a fast forward button on her life. Sparks eyes over the bar's selection and spots some whiskey. With no one around, she sets her bag up on the bar heads behind it. She spots a glass made for scotch and swiftly grabs it along with the full bottle of Wild Turkey to her right.

Gobble gobble I guess.

She laughs in a scoffing manner and pours the whiskey until the glass was half empty ((lol)). She sets the bottle down gently on the bar and then takes the glass and tips it slowly to her lips and takes a big gulp and swallows. Almost instantly, her face changes and her jaw clenches up and her eyes are closed. She lets out a small sigh and just as quickly as her face changed, it went back to normal. Her demeanor was almost as if she owned the place. Realizing this, Sparks quickly walks out from behind the bar and sits down on a stool in front of her bag. She rustles through looking for some spare gold and finds some at the very bottom. Not even counting it, she sets the gold up on the counter paying for her drink. She frowns a bit looking at the gold then turns her attention towards the glass and bottle of whiskey.

I guess it's just you and me buddy!

Sparks nods and laughs hysterically as if she was being told something.

Well yeah I know. Isn't this a trip? Next time you do this. No backing out you coward.

She cackles loudly again and eyes the bottle and glass again lost in thought.

Sparks begins to wonder if he had told her the right place. Maybe it was some goose chase to distract her from sticking her nose where it shouldn't belong. She shrugs this feeling off and gulps down the last of the whiskey in her glass making the same face as before.

I have to be patient.

Sparks sucks in a deep breath of air and blows it out slowly knowing this mission was going to be a long one.

After sitting there a while, Spark slips off her bar stool and stretches. She felt that since no one was around she could explore the place to learn her surroundings. She quickly grabs her bag off the bar and starts her stroll about the tavern.

D, having spent quite a bit of time in her room sorting her thoughts, gets up from her bed, cleans the small mess she made while digging through her belongings, grabs a pair of shoes and steps out of her door. After locking the door behind her she pads down the hallway and stops, hearing voices coming from one of the rooms. She continues on down the stairs when she recognized Kris and figures the female voice belongs to the other woman here. As she nears the bottom of the stairs she can tell that there is yet another person wandering the tavern downstairs and stops just out of site to see what she can find out about the person.

After waiting several moments, D slips silently down the last few stairs and stops on the bottom one to watch the woman. She quickly takes in the glass, bottle, and gold on the bar, and turns her eyes to the woman walking around. She waits to see what the woman will do and how long it takes her to notice D standing there... a lot can be said for how much of one's surroundings they see, after all.

Sparks makes her way to the stage and examines all entry ways on to it. Soon, she finds herself on the stage creeping along silently taking every mental picture in and absorbing it. She makes her way to the back of the stage and sits cautiously a moment on an amplifier. For only minute, Sparks seemed to be lost in her mind. She had a troubled look on her face as she clenched the black paper and a clicking sound could be heard if you were close enough. Just then, a figure appeared from the 2nd floor. Sparks, didn't notice right off the bat, but quickly realized something was different. As the figure stopped, her sense causes her to look towards the staircase. In the distance, she sees what seems to be a person and a female no less.

This could be a trick.

Sparks abruptly stands up and slips her black note into her back right pocket. She tilts her neck right then left cracking her neck. Sparks was quite curious of the newcomer, so she walked to the the front of the stage to take a closer look. As she examines the girl, Sparks can't help but to notice how strange and odd she looked. She smirked a bit when her eyes reached the girl's hair. It reminded her of her own self. Her gaze then quickly fell to odd looking girl's legs.

Hmm tattoos...

Finally her eyes met the odd one's sunglasses. Sparks nods and raises her left hand to wave while her right hand seemed to vanish into her big purple tote bag.

Um, hi there.

Sparks' voice sounded stern, but with a sense of warmth and comfort to most. As she waited for a reply, Sparks jumped down off the stage using her left arm as leverage and started towards the girl to examine her more intimately.

((The dark red are her thoughts))

D watches the woman, well aware of her hand going into her bag. She picks up her left foot, slips her shoe on, and then steps onto the floor of the main level, then repeats the process with her right foot, never taking her eyes off the woman the whole time. Once she has her shoes on, she walks further into the room while keeping distance from the woman until she finds out more about her.

Hello.

She smiles, though not much can be really said for her feelings, given her eyes are hidden. If one were too look closely a long scar can be seen running across her left cheek, from cheek bone to jawbone, and of course the tattoos that also run from wrists, up her arms and down her chest and back to her ankles.

The owner is upstairs with another patron. I'm sure he will be down soon.

She waited for his response.

Kris nods happily when he finally hears that the room is in order. With that being confirmed, he opens his hand and drops the key to the room in your hand and smiles.

Alright, if all is well then here's your key. As I said before, if you ever need to find me and I am not in the main lobby area, just come knock on my office door and I should be there. Enjoy your stay Bertie! I appreciate you choosing the DarkSeas as your place of rest. Bye for now!

Kris waves and then excuses himself from the room. He smiles as he heads down the hall and makes his way toward the stairs. Things were looking good so far, he already had two patrons in rooms and it was only his first open business day.

Once he reaches the bottom of the stairs, he pulls on his shoes. Once he is in the area, he hears the sounds of what appears to be other patrons talking. He couldn't believe his ears and he quickly made his way over to the voices, spotting D and a woman he didn't know.

He couldn't help but notice that the women were talking to each other in such a strange and overly cautious manner. He decided to try and lighten the mood a little.

Ah! Hello there! If you're looking for the Maroon5 concert tickets, we sold them all yesterday... heh... I'm the owner and welcome to my inn. Can I help you?

Kris hoped that his musing would be understood. If either of these people had ever been to earth, they would likely know how difficult it was to get into a concert by this band. If they weren't at least he could ease the tensions a little.

I don't know why that woman gives me the creeps.

D finally takes her gaze off the woman when Kris enters, though she raises an eyebrow and gives a look of genuine confusion about Maroon 5.

Why would anyone want to buy five tickets to be marooned somewhere?

She walks over and eases onto one of the bar stools well away from where the woman had been sitting before, sitting with her back to the bar. She leans against it and crosses her legs, all of her movements graceful and fluid.

I must remember to ask Kris to let me into that office again... maybe even the room for the assistant manager as well.
