Aludra Yvette... Aludra grinned as she saw an assignment appear on the board. Seeing as how she knew some of the Scotish language already from her father's old work and a great lover of languages, this was no problem for her. She pulled out some parchment and ink and quickly got to work.
After a few good minutes of hard work and some time spent in the dictionaries, she was finished and well satisfied with her work. Aludra walked up to Professor Volkova's and set it down in front of her. "Here we are Professor. Hopefully we can get our act together and get you that House Cup this year." she said, giving her a hearty smile as she went back to her desk to tidy up. 1. A day to come seems longer than a year that's gone. 2. A full heart is always kind. 3. A greedy eye never got a good pennyworth. 4. A good fellow never lost but at an ill fellow's hand. 5. A kiss and a drink of water make but a bland breakfast. 6. A poor man is glad of little. 7. A proud mind and an empty purse go together badly. 8. One does the damage, another gets the scorn. 9. As long as the bird sings before Candlemas he greets after it. 10. Bannocks (a type of unleavened pan-fried bread-cake) are better than no bread. 11. Better a dog fawns on you than barks at you. 12. Better happy at court than in good service. 13. Blue is beauty, Red is taken, Green is grief, and Yellow's forsaken. 14. Blood is thicker than water. 15. Don't stretch your arm further than your sleeve will let you. ...7th Year Slytherin

Callysto hummed tunelessly while she looked over the assignments of her class. Most of them had done quite well, with small mistakes, such as translating 'mind' into 'man' but over all the class had done quite well. "You will each be awarded the appropriate number of housepoints for completing homework."

//That's too bad Heart, maybe you can come back when you're less busy. ^^//
"Four points to Hufflepuff for homework and additional five points for excellent Scots!" Callysto beamed at her students, glad they were enjoying themselves. She was especially surprised at the Hufflepuff's words; such a nice thing to say, and in perfect Scots!
//I'll try to make it easier, hehe~//

Ravenclaw, 3rd Year
Nam peeked eagerly through the doorway. Of course, 'peeking' was pointless with his exceptionally conspicuous bush of scarlet hair. He entered in a spiderly fashion, hopping all too gratefully into a still-warm seat, recently vacated by Heart. Even though he was 'derhar' to the professor, he didn't expect to be at all excused for his absense and tardiness; in fact, she'd probably give him more grief over it than any of his other professors. But the thought made him glad. He immediately began hurriedly on the assignment, which he was barely completing before the due date.
1. A day to come seems longer than a year that's gone. 2. A full heart is always kind. 3. A greedy eye never got a good pennyworth. 4. A good fellow never lost but at an ill fellow's hand. 5. A kiss and a drink of water make but a worse breakfast. 6. A poor man is glad of little. 7. A proud man and an empy purse go ill together. 8. One does the work, another gets the scorn. 9. As long as the bird sings before Candlemas he greets after it. 10. Bannocks are better than no bread. 11. Better for a dog to fawn on you than to bark at you. 12. Better happy at court than in good service. 13. Blue is beauty, red is taken, green is grief, and yellow is forsaken. 14. Blood is thicker than water. 15. Don't stretch your arm farther than your sleeve will let you.
He was sad and a bit reluctant to turn the cozy scotts to formal english. He marched straight up to Professor Volkova's desk and stiffly handed her his roll of parchment, unsure of what to expect. "I apologize for my late arrival, Professor Volkova."
(( Agreed, the challenge is what makes it. ))

At the first glimpse of Nam's tell-tale bright red hair, Professor Volkova broke into a goofy lop-sided grin. The newly appointed head-of-Slytherin attempted to reel-in her expression, hoping she didn't look too ridiculous.
"Mister Polpil." She said calmly, getting her features under control. Her eyes grew serious and stern yet they still displayed her fondness for the third year. "Three points from Ravenclaw. For tardiness." Callysto said sharply. For a brief second she'd considered ignoring the fact he was late. She'd quickly brushed past the idea, not wanting to enable such behavior in her Deartháir.
She was quite surprised, and a bit proud when Nam appeared in front of her desk and offered up his assignment.
"I apologize for my late arrival, Professor Volkova."
He stood awkwardly, not an uncommon occurrence. Callysto lifted a hand, signaling for him to stay put while she read his work. "You've done the same here, as a few others. 'Mind' should be translated into 'mind'; not, man. Otherwise, well done. Four points to Ravenclaw."
Callysto stood, retrieved her wand from her robes and waved her arm. The assignments neatly arranged themselves in small stack and levitated themselves into her desk. "Now then. That was the only time you will get housepoints for homework. You'll still earn points by answering questions and what-not. Please return to your seats and I will tell you all about your next assignment." The professor grinned, she couldn't wait to tell her students what their assignment would be. She was even more eager to see the results of each.
//Next post will have the assignment ~ and it's a doozy. Haha.

Aludra Yvette... Aludra gulped upon hearing they had another assignment. The Scots one was challenging to her, and she had never found school a challenge. Maybe this was going to be the better of her classes. ...7th Year Slytherin

Cloud continued studying the passage on the Scottish language in her book. She was getting more and more excited about this class, for she had always been captivated the magic of other languages. She smiled and dipped her quill in her ink.

Ravenclaw, 3rd Year
He shivered when she called him 'Mister Polpil'. The only reason Nam wasn't smiling was to show he too was serious about his tardiness. Though there was a small voice crying But it wasn't my fault! in the back of his perfectionist mind, it was easily muted. He would rather drink molten lava than argue with his сестра, or give her cause to worry about him again by explaining his reason. He didn't care too much about the points, only what it may make Callysto think of him.
He gave a quick nod and mumbled a "Thank you, professor," at her evaluation of his translations. He cleared his throat, making a suspicious string of near articulation, sounding like 'missed you'. As instructed he moved to reclaim his seat, wondering when and where he would have an opportunity to speak with Callysto... perhaps stargazing? The astronomy tower was now open after classes for recreational observation. Or there was that flute concert he owed her... All in due time. And with that he forced himself to stop insulting his teacher's class by thinking idle thoughts and focused on the academics.
