The music had the tree stop mid spin.
"Thats..." Its face went blank, "Thats......" Its face went even blanker, "BEAUTIFUL! You have such great taste in music. Be my friend for ever and nest in my branches. I love you!" The tree reaches for Corbin with an impossibly huge and creepy grin.

HP: 1

Corbin stopped, frozen in place for just a few seconds. Disbelief was all he could call the feeling currently washing over him.

The tree really thought it was just being nice and friendly? What the crap? Its intentions did little to alter the fact that every time it even touched the Ghost, its branches scratched him and caused the instantaneous compulsion to get revenge surging through Corbin's entire body; that was, after all, his driving force.

When its branches reached out again in joyous excitement, Corbin quickly back peddled. One branch coiled around his ankle and toppled him against the ground, his back colliding roughly with the snow. It dragged him closer, Stalkman blasting music away all the while and even turning the volume louder for dramatic effect. It felt wrong to attack something that was innocent--or at least thought it was innocent--but it was a retaliation. He was scratched and bleeding and there was nothing that could stop him from doing the same to the tree.

Get even, that was all.

Once he was close enough, Corbin grabbed the branch holding his leg and kicked at it with his free boot. It took a few good slams of his heel but the branch snapped and contorted, splintering off with a sickening crack. "Cut it out!"

The tree looked surprise and a little hurt. Tears welled up behind those beady eyes.

"I THOUGHT WE WERE FRIENDS!" It wailed and ran away in its defeat. But not before dropping a little something for Corbin.

Both Braum and Nuk seemed to have valid points. However, Riley personally didn't seem to mind whether they split up into groups, or stayed together. Neither option was going to save them if all the trees started attacking - and neither option was going to matter if the trees came at them one by one, like they seemed to be doing so far. She fell silent, contemplating what the best move was, when Jericho's answer gave her an idea.

Of course. What better way to keep watch over a forest and make sure it wasn't grouping up for a massive attack.. then a high lookout? Jericho, you epic mount, you.

Riley let go of Israfel, making sure he didn't drop once her arm was gone, and reached up for Jericho's neck. Uhh, a little help here?

Huffing, Corbin laid back in the snow like a useless, limp doll after watching the tree flee in despair. In all honesty, he felt bad about the whole affair but there was nothing he could do. The tree had managed to mangle him up pretty badly, too, but he didn't want to waste any of those nice pumpkin pills or his bells.

Staring at the bells attached to his wrist for a moment, he pulled his head back up to stare at the others. Another tree had come into the fray but at least now it was only two instead of three. If the others needed it, he was ready to use the bell but he needed to rest for a minute. Having a physical body really sucked for a Ghost and he felt trapped within a cell that was form fitted to his spirit. Decidedly one of the most uncomfortable things he could imagine, aside from having to sit on thumbtacks.

The thoughts of one demon brushed against his mind, against everyone's it seemed, and he managed a slight nod. He could agree with the Skinwalker or the others; smaller groups would be harder to track down but the raven had a point; they all attacked when their backs were turned. Pulling himself to a stand, Corbin staggered over to the rest of his car mates and took a dizzy stance between two people, Healing Bells at the ready for anyone that needed them.

"Not really sure. They just came after us without much of a w-warning," Jericho snorted in response to the black cat. Just as he said this, he saw one of the trees go down. Well it was about time, but there were more they had to worry about.

Soon glancing at Riley, he nodded an lowered himself so that it'd be easier for her to hop on. He figured she'd prefer that over being lifted up and plopped onto his backside.

"I can take flight, b-but I don't know how long I can keep it up... m-my wings are kinda n-numb.." he muttered.

Iolanthe groaned a she reached up to rub delicately around the knot forming on her head. Between the group of students ordering people to do this or that, the talking trees, and the throbbing pain in her skull, she was finding it hard to function.

She threw down her bag and pulled out the tools to set up her tent. It was a little harder with such an awful headache, but she managed, and soon climbed in for what she thought was a well deserved break.

Aksaja rolled his eyes juuuuust slightly at the other dragon's comment, and flexed his own wings a bit. Maybe he should volunteer to go 'scout ahead' from above or something like that. It would get him away from the trees... Hmmn.

Cyrilla was one unhappy dracolich. Firstly, she was stuck in her silly, squishy humanoid form. Stupid pins seemed to be malfunctioning all around. That wasn't the worst of it though, no. The Colchian had just met up again with her friend, Merope, and they'd been having a good time (he made the best surf/snowboard ever) when those damn gnomes came in, barking orders and dragging them off to their separate camps.

At least they'd made plans to try to meet up again. She just hoped it wasn't going to take too long.

Her tail twitched about behind her, agitated, and with a mind of it's own. She twisted the bracelet's on her wrist while she scanned the other student's in the area. She hadn't taken the time to meet any of them on the train, she'd been busy trying to figure out how to keep a Cerebus kid from getting sick (sadly, she'd lost that battle as soon as food had been rolled out). The other's she'd been with were also back at the infirmary. She missed Twitch, and hoped he and the others were doing better now.

Hovering back from the group for the most part, she scooted up closer to the crowd, wrapping her wings around her, as .... trees... just started talking all over the place.

"What the..."

As Riley let go of the clumsy, drunk Siren, Braum took up her post in propping him up. He was a teensy bit jealous of her as she managed to get an elevated position, oh what he'd give for perching on top of the dragon's head, high in the sky. A liftoff point THAT high would help him glide farther tenfold, since he couldn't manage much with the current damage, not lifting straight from the ground anyways.

But as other students were choosing whom to listen to, where to go, or finishing up their fights, an obscenely LOUD Ringtone could be heard by all.

"I scream, you scream we all scream for her
Don't even try 'cause you can't ignore her

She's my pumpkin pie
Cool drink of water such a sweet surprise
Tastes so good make a grown mons-ter cry
Sweet pumpkin pie, oh yeah

She's my pumpkin pie
Put a smile on your face ten miles wide
Looks so good bring a tear to your eye
Sweet pumpkin pie, yeah"

Braum's face could not get redder as his ringtone for Belladonna's phone rang loud and clear, and he whipped out his Skellphone from his pocket with a bashful, apologetic look on his face while hoisting Israfel up with his free arm. Flipping the phone open, he managed a small smile at Belladonna's text, and wrote one back of his own::

"Fighting trees and keeping everyone safe. Update you when things calm down, angelwings. <3 "

He somehow managed to type quickly even though one hand was craned around Israfel's body, looping under his armpit to try and awkwardly reach over and help type. Sending it, he quickly put the phone on 'vibrate' to as not to announce to the world that his girl was texting him every time she called back. Not that he didn't want to announce to the world that she was potentially his girl, but because he only wanted her affections to be for HIM. None of these people deserved a little boost of confidence because of Bell's attention, even though she was dealing with problems of her own. As it was, he decided to try and regain a little dignity back, since his eagerness to answer the text made him look terribly witchwhipped, and they hadn't even been on a first date yet......

Looking up to Riley, he bit his lip.

"MINDFLYER, should we send a flyer or two ahead to scout?"
he hollered up to Riley, taking Nukpana's suggestions of smaller groups into account. Perhaps it was a good compromise? With someone at a high vantage point to warn them, and one or two silent scouts barreling ahead for a lower vantage point, underneath the treeline and able to see in the shadowy areas, might be worth looking into.

Night watched as one tree fell and then sighed. He really really really really wanted one of the shiny dangling orbs hanging off the fallen tree, in fact he really wanted to just rip the decorations of and add them to his playthings in his room. It would've been a good memento.

Looking over at the Dragons, yes now he could see two....and a third behind him he snorted. "Eh? They just attacked!?!? Odd, Do all trees attack around here?" Night sniffed around and then looked at the other of the two dragons, the one flexing his wings. "Are you taking off?" Night looked over to Jericho and his new companion, "Oh your both going to fly off! SMART."

Malodore sighed and knelt next to the fallen siren, feeling vaguely responsible. "You aren't going to die," it explained, patiently. "Unless something that lives here eats you. Which it might. Have you had a look around? It's horribly festive, and not the good kind of horrible, either. Can you feel the..." It shuddered. "... JOY?"

"Heeeeeey maaaaaaaan. Whu... whuddya meeeean parts'll fall offa yas huuuuuh? Hyuk hyuk!"
Malodore shouldn't turn around. There was a tree that seemed to sway back and forth in an invisible wind. It offered a drunken wave to Israfel, before hiccuping and nearly tripping over Luce.

HP: 5

Dannazione all'inferno, the tree was... the jacking tree was drunk?!

...

Luce whirled on the tree furiously, barking and snapping! Unfortunately, while she tried to attach herself to as many branches as possible, she didn't seem to be doing a great deal of damage to it - although she was making a hell of a lot of noise.

"Whoooohahahaha! Haaaai there liddle buddeeeh! Yuh, yew wanna know if stuff falls off too?"
The tree giggled, staggering around as Luce nipped at its branches. "Oh hey maaaaaaaan, di, didn't know you brought a parteeee along too," it replied to Israfel, hiccuping at all three sirens.

HP: 5

The tree's staggering made Luce lose her grip on the branch she was currently clinging onto with her jaws; she went end-over-end into a snowbank and popped out again snarling with fury.

But before she could leap at the tree again, Malodore smoothly stepped between her and it, its gaze cold behind the lenses it wore. "Back to the hell you came from, albero bastardo," it said, voice absolutely deadpan, before it drew back one arm and let fly.

It was only one scalpel, not really designed for throwing, but it still managed to ding the tree's trunk!

"Ciiiidurrrr? Naw maaaan, ah dunz gotz anyyyy. Whurrabooot yoooou? Whurr you leaf teh cidur?"
The tree stared vapidly at the branch Luce managed to break off, its eyes glazing over even more as Malodore insulted it. "Huuuuuh? Whayuuu say aboot mah mutha?"

HP: 4

Tch! The tree's clinging grasp scratched and scraped and worse, felt inexpressibly JOY-ful. Malodore fought down a sudden urge to break into Christmas-caroling-song and twisted away, using another scalpel to gouge at the tree's trunk as it did so.

Luce threw herself at another branch and grabbed it, hanging on grimly as the tree staggered about - after a few seconds it snapped under her weight, peeling away from the trunk unpleasantly. She howled her triumph!

Aksaja blinked as there was suddenly a cat-looking thing chattering at him. Where... had he come from? He didn't remember him from the train car! But then again, the lightning dragon hadn't been paying attention to much beyond the drunk Siren and the deer back there. "I was thinkin' about it," he replied with a faint smirk. "Try to get a look up ahead from the air, y'know?"
PostPosted: Wed Dec 15, 2010 9:20 pm

Riley's arm looped around the dragon's neck, pulling herself up with a graceful slide. One leg rocked around to sit atop, and she settled in with an undeniable sense of satisfaction. Sorry, Jericho, but riding you does actually make her feel a little higher than everyone else. It pumped the blood faster in her veins, and consequently she was warmer than usual because of it. This worked out well for the both of them, it seemed.

With a gentle stroke across his neck, she murmured her thanks to his mind alone, before trying to look as high as she could from where she was. It wasn't high enough - a little flight might bring some helpful discovery; but until he took off, she proceeded to scope the land from her vantage point.

Trees. Trees. TREEES. That's all she could see, and it made her sick.

We should get moving soon. We'll be lucky, if all that comes at us is a few trees. This thought was directed at the entire group, though did Braum perhaps sense a soft edge of smugness to her voice? Her eyes may have dropped to him for a moment, not entirely subtle in their haughty 'king of the mountain' gaze.

IT WAS HER. SHE WAS THE ONE. SHE WAS-
The cider fairy.
That voice in the back of his brain that told him what to do and not to do. "Purpel tentaculs~" Israfel was fascinated with Riley's 'hair' torn between touch it, pulling it, and just staring at it. But she was the cider fairy, and as quickly as she came, she(?) was gone.
Braums words got the siren's attention. "But-" The Nuk. "And-" Jack it was all so confusing. Looking towards the drunk tree he got his answer. No cider. The tree was ciderless. Poor tree. Israfel felt even worse when the plague doctor insulted his mother.
"HEY...DOCTAH. DUN INSULT 'IS MUTHA YO." The siren huffed. "DATS JUS NOT COOL." The drunk singer fell into his black feathered friend. "But, cun yoos flah? I dun tinx we can..too much JOY in airs." Hands pointed at the sky. "Too much white stuffs too."

Now that was a good idea. West watched as Riley climbed up on Jericho's back, barely noticing when Corbin defeated his dastardly tree. Was this all they had to look forward to? Where were the bloody snowmen and psycho drummer boys and dudes wielding huge menorahs?

Thoroughly distracted by thoughts of samurai snowflakes, West might not have noticed Braum's ringtone at all if it hadn't gone on for three verses. Who was calling him, a hooker? West snorted, muttering to himself about strippers and tinsel.

"Yeah... w-we'll see how long this l-lasts though," Jericho said back to the cat. Once Riley was on him, he stood back up and stretched his wings, if not somewhat gingerly. The bit of warmth the Mindflayer offered wasn't enough to really fend off the cold but he still appreciated it greatly.

Looking around, he too tried to get an idea of the surroundings. However, while he was big in his natural state, bigger than a horse in fact, he was no elder dragon.

He paused for the moment, hearing Braum's... interesting ring tone, but dismissed it quickly. There were more important things to deal with.

"A-alright, h-hang on tight!"

Preparing himself, that was the only warning he gave Riley before beating his wings down to gain some lift. He sent flurries of snow about with this, but he couldn't really help it. The dragon continued to ascend until he was at least above tree level. Oh damn it was cold up here, especially without anything to block off any wind that blew.
