Dude, the Ad.Mech are already an awesome army. Why bother brainwashing when you can just lobotomize an entire military force? That and their tank upgrades make things damn deadly. There's listings in the codex that I posted above for arming Chimera with Heavy Weapons, thus making them a hellaciously powerful/useful thing.

Newest version that I've seen of the Adeptus Mechanicus rule set.

sorry if this is necro-ing, but i think this might help answer recent posts, it is GW's official Ad.Mech IG doctrine:

http://us.games-workshop.com/games/40k/imperialguard/gaming/doctrines/main.htm

i knew where to find this as since i found the french codex here, i have been playing Ad.Mech IG / Iron Hands SM. they are a successor chapter wearing red armour (scab red) with black and silver. i have a number of custom techmarines and stuffs, and im working on a squad of Ad.Mech skittarii, i have made six using Cadians, Space Marine Tacticals, Scouts, tau fire warriors, Deamonhunter servitors and black templar cenobyte servitors. along with copious ammounts of Green Stuff for hoods/robes/etc.

i will create an album of images in the painting/moddeling thread to show off my stuff

To reply to the very very first question, the adeptus mechanicus are a divided army. In the titan legions, armored companies, space marines, imperial guard, holy inquisition, holy fleet, adeptus arbites, and finally the PDF (planetary defense force).

They do have their own army, but to represent that, they would use the Imperial Guard army list with doctrines, allied with super heavy tanks, titans if the threat is dire. Remember that the Imperial Guard do protect the Adeptus Mechanicus as well, just the main thing about THEIR regiments is that they are less human more cyborg like.

i have now made a reliable Ad.Mech themed Space Marine force, you can find photos of most of them in my album "The Mechanicus Hangar" in the Painting/Moddeling Subforum

Its too small. That thing only looks to be the size of a Reaver Titan, maybe just a bit bigger than a Warhound.

That it is. The painting on it is damned incredible. I've got some friends that are in AP Art and I'm gonna see if I can get one of 'em to paint up some Possessed for me and count them as a project.

wow, since may, im the only person to post new stuff to talk about here...

still, something else to talk about maybe, since i scrapped my old ad.mech IG to focus on my Ad.Mech Marines, which i have now finished, i want to start my Ad.Mech again, they are completely unofficial, as the rules are derived from 4 codices... two of which are unofficial, so its not a tournament army... thats for my marines, but i want something fun to play since i have a perfect marine force that very rarely loses a game, but wiping the floor with everything every time is kinda boring, so yeah, fun is the focus of my new army.

photos and such can be found here

from what I understand the Adeptus Mechanicus is semi-autonomous. they are not ruled from Terra at all but from mars. they have their own religion and everything.

The different factions in the imperium fight eachother all the time. The mechanicus would need its own armed forces for protection and crusades. I imagine that people commit heresy against the machine god as often as they do against the emperor. someone has to enforce this.

1st thing you should know about the mechanicus, it's military; The Skittarii, or Forge Guard. they are the basis of every military position in the mechanicum. i have a small force of them myself, which can be seen incomplete in the painting and modeling subforum.

if you need a hand with anything to do with the ad.mech, literally ANYTHING, then give me a shout, the Ad.Mech is what i know most about in 40k, and i know a fair amount about 40k. (it sounds like a am being vain doesn't it? but i'm not)

yeah this thread is on topic.

the mechanicus is a human race that is set on mars. hey fight with 'skitari' knight paladins, and the titan legions of god machines.

the mechanicum live in forges each run by an adept seniourus where every person in the forge is made and enhanced for their assigned job. after they are used up wich can take hundreds of years they are dumped out and killed.

life cycle? their born human, augmented early so they can survive the marchine environment.

they worship the omisiah, wich some mechanicus beleive to be the emperor, others don't.

read Titanicus and Mechanicum if you want to know about the mechanicus.

No, don't the Mechanicus believe that the Emperor and the Machine-God are the same entity?
