"T-thank you G," Tahki gave the swamp beast a timid smile. The gryphon wasted no time to examine the peppermint treat after G had handed them out. Tahki had seen a lot of candy in her time having grown up in a world full of everything halloween but never had the Tahki seen something like this. Naturally the gryphoness sniffed it.

Minty? What kind of candy was minty anyways. Well G had said not to eat it so maybe this wasn't candy after all.

Tahki pocketed the candy and grabbed her headphones again letting them play loudly. Hopefully this 'peppermint' was a useful tool for later. If nothing else maybe it could be melted down into tooth paste. Yeah that sounded like a good plan.

Laiha looked up at G, and then back down at the small candy he had passed her. She had only spoken, and she got a present? Of course, giving her something edible and then telling her to not eat it was like handing an alcoholic a bottle of vodka. She sniffed it, tentatively licked it, and then hurriedly shoved it in the deep pocket of her pants. It smelled a little like perfume, so she could focus on that and perhaps not how delicious it probably was. She watched G move around the car and tilted her head. More games? She would love some more games.

Thankful that the romantic subplot he had added in didn't get too far (nor too detailed; though he did throw a look at the demoness who had insinuated such things), Haku nodded and took his peppermint candy. "Thank you." "Do good things in future"? He sniffed the candy just as Tahki did, and didn't find anything particularly special about it either. But Haku pocketed the mint carefully all the same. Disobeying the large monster might result in something; it wasn't easy to forget how threatening G had looked when defending them from what they had thought was an assailant.

Back to his minor bubble, he pondered. This train ride was going to be a long while if he twiddled it away doing nothing. Best to try and socialize.

For instance, a look to the side told him that the same gryphon girl was back to listening to music, though now she was joined by a sphinx - a creature Haku had not had the chance to see beyond pictures in books. It was odd, he thought as he looked at the girls, to look at a humanoid version of what was already a hybrid of several other creatures. Like adding another to the pile! Well in the gryphon's case rather than the sphinx's.

A look forward showed the odd three-eyed girl all but eating her mint, seeming impatient. Neither of these looks told him what best to say, so he just said what he was thinking - an ice breaker question. "Ah . . . Where do you all come from?" Haku asked, trying at a sweeping look for all the occupants to include them.

Tahki caught Haku's question through the loud beats of her music. The gryphoness ghoul gave him a bit of a confused look before turning her headphones off. It was rude to talk to people with them on after all. However Tahki did not remove her headphones from the safety of her head.

"Where did we come from?" The gryphon mumbled the question to her self. "I suppose one day my parents decided they wanted a child and took a romantic stroll to the pumpkin patch. After that fear built up and I popped out," Tahki wasn't completely sure what the Inugami was asking so she turned text book mode reciting her readings from sex ed.

". . . Not the answer I was looking for, but informative all the same."

Aaaand - ah, there we go. The involuntary but small shiver that ran down his spine and faded the further along it went down his tail.

Haku really disliked broaching deeply personal topics (especially the relations between parents or lovers), but since the ghoul seemed to have genuinely misinterpreted what he said, he let it go with just that. "I meant what 'home' is. For instance, I'm from the more mountainous areas of Halloween, more towards the north where sometimes it snows. Specifically from a shrine with others like me."
PostPosted: Thu Dec 09, 2010 8:34 pm

Tahkis face turned a hot pink as Haku let her know she had given him the wrong information.

"Further to the north huh?" The gryphon blinked, "Traditionally my family is said to come from the north too. I'm an arctic gryphon....I've never been up north though... I'm kind of a city girl," Tahki tapped her finger to her chin thoughtfully. Oh wait... She was talking to much now wasn't she.

"W-well I-I mean I always wanted to go up there its just.. " She flailed a little. Talking and Tahki didn't always end well. The gryphon was a ball of nerves some times. "I-I mean.. I ... My family hasn't been up north in several generations.... Eh.. Whats snow?"

Oooh, now that one is an interesting sight. Natalia, in all of her infinite curiosity, took notice of the girl whose hair was far too bright to be natural and yet—enticed, all the same. She watched as the elegant creature found a voice to play along but was quick to settle back into her lonesome. It would not have taken a rocket scientist to deduce that the demoness wanted her privacy and, perhaps, preferred the gap between the cabin and herself but…what was personal space anyway? Just an invisible bubble, begging to be popped.

With her lips she subconsciously made a ‘pop’ noise, giggling to herself. Mmm…Popping.

Side-tracked! G’s Minty offer prompted the were-monster to turn her attention toward the sweet treat. Put it away, she reasoned, since surely the big green guy knew what he was talking about. What future ‘plans’ he or the staff had for the candy it seemed no one knew, but it would be a test of fate for some…IE the purple thing, who already looked the part of a famished twig. Talk had resumed as it had prior to the story game, and through the chatter a question rose up from the crowd. Haku, was it? Again, she would just have to remember to get back to that adorable thing later...

There were more pressing matters at hand.

Leaning forward in her seat for a second time gave the monster a good outlook of the cabin and its seats. Beside the demoness was a…chest? It moved, so maybe not the kind of box one would stash coins and trophies in but who knew. She had started off the trip with a robust amount of enthusiasm—it wasn’t going to start to fade here, but Natalia would certainly have to tone down her…annoying, at least for a short while to gain the camaraderie of at least one other passenger. Why not start with the cutest one.

Sliding from her seat and walking confidently down the aisle, Natalia gripped the top part of a nearby chair and approached the girl, trying to be as casual as possible.

“My, that little guy sure can move?” Gesturing to the chest, she spread her lips and continued with a charming smile. "Mind if I join you up here?"

This was the severity of Haku's awkwardness: even the were(raccoon? Really, what was she? And what was her name again? Na...Natalia, he believed) - even the wereghoul's continuing presence, regardless of whether she was talking to him or not, made the inugami inwardly squirm. Imagine if she had had him in her sights!

Or better yet, let's not. Let the demoness handle her for as long as possible.

The more flustered the gryphon (arctic gryphon, he reminded himself, as such classifications mattered to him) got, the more Haku found himself blinking until by the end of her bluster he was scratching the back of his neck consciously - as if in sympathy, if not confusion. "What is snow? Snow is made from water freezing in the sky before it falls, almost like rain but far colder. And, ah . . . this color," he added, pointing to the white portion of his tail.

You know, just in case she needed a visual.

"Inversely, I have never been to the more populated areas of Halloween," Haku offered, trying to get her to calm down some. "Though this is not the first time I've been on this train . . ."

"Its like freezing water that falls like rain but colder and white?" An image of ice cubes raining down came to mind. Tahki wasn't exactly sure if she wanted to go up north any time soon if thats what snow was. White ice cubes of doom raining down on her wasn't something that sounded ideal.

"You've never been to the city then?" Tahki gave the Inugami a reassuring smile. "I'd say you were lucky then. Far to many creatures in far to much of a cramped space. Kind of like this car." Ooop did she say that out loud! Tahki clamped her hands over her mouth quickly.

"N-no that came out wrong! I didn't mean .. errrrrrr..." What had she meant, "Well.. its cramped any way ...."

Being around a lot of creatures at once was hard for the mostly anti social gryphon. Since enrolling at the academy the gryphons socialization skills had grown. But Tahki was still a nervous wreck more often then not.

Somewhere between the spy's death and the teddy bear god being summoned, Petro lost interest in the story. Too little action and too much talking in the tale as far as he thought. Again his attention went back to the dents before sweeping over the students that had just arrived. He wondered how they would act should the thing from earlier return and he frowned at that thought. Maybe he was just being overly cautious because he didn't know anyone. Not even their name, minus G.

The aforementioned monster finally ended the story and began distributing candy? Brows that (upon closer inspection) looked like square roots arched in mild surprise. He got something? Even if it was just to add in a couple of sentences? Huh. He wasn't sure what to make of it. And then he realized his problem: Loincloths do not come with pockets.

He stared at the green candy in his hand. Having been told to keep it, Petro had no idea where to put it in the meantime. He looked around, trying to see if anyone else was in the same predicament then back to the candy. "I should have brought a bag."

"Er . . ." He had to pause to remember this one's name, as she had introduced herself to the sphinx while his mind had wandered. "Be at peace, Miss . . .Yuki?" He sure hoped so. "Calm yourself, I understand what you meant. Although to be honest, the last time I was on here I shared a cabin with around twenty-three other students, most of which were more rowdy than this group."

"Rowdy" wasn't quite the word. "Interesting", maybe. "Diverse", absolutely. "Painful to be by", character-specific.

"But seeing as a city is twenty-three times many more, I can't imagine . . . I'd like to think it's more peaceful up north. Denizens are more territorial where I live, but then that is what we get for housing near a family of yeti with a newborn," Haku intoned with some dryness. The monsters visited periodically, and their hairy child enjoyed nothing more than a game of "find doggy tail and pull!"

To the boil who seemed to be adverse to wearing clothing (Haku stiffened a tad once he noticed, as nakedness was included in the line of "deeply personal topics" he avoided whenever possible), he thought first (You should have brought far more than that. Like a shirt.) before speaking. "If there are other attendants on the train, look for one to ask for a bag. Or one of us could hold it for you if you don't mind."

"Peace?" Tahki blinked. Oh right she was being a total spazz wasn't she. The gryphon sighed and tried to think of calming thoughts.

"Yeti? I don't think I've ever met a Yeti before. Still, up north sounds like a nice escape from the big city life." Tahki sighed. In all honesty the gryphon did live in the city but rarely had to deal with the out side world from the comfort of her parents home. Though when she did travel from the safety of the nest to go some where it had always been a pain.

Thank goodness Tahki preferred the safety of her room. Not that she had much of a choice. The gryphons parents were very protective of her.

The gryphons head lifted when another student asked if someone could hold his candy for him. Having a loincloth as your only article of clothing seemed difficult. If it wasn't for Tahkis jacket the gryphon wouldn't have had anywhere to store her minty candy either. It wasn't like Tahki wore pants after all. Haku had beaten her to the punch though in offering his bag so Tahki didn't bother to offer.

At first, Petro didn't realize the other boil was talking to him. The other boil was having a conversation with the winged monster after all. It was only because the suggestion certainly sounded like it could help him that the barely clothed monster figured he was being addressed. His hands curled into loose fists, fingers closing over the candy as he folded his arms across his bare chest.

"You volunteering? Even if you don't know my name?"he asked, tone neutral. Or I yours, he silently added but whose fault was that for not paying attention? Names had been exchanged since he got on, Tro just didn't think much of it at the time. His mouth pulled into a wry grin "Mighty friendly of you."

Tro made no motion to hand his candy over, however.

What an odd thing to be reserved about, Haku thought as he listened. Also: Really, there are clothing scraps for the lowliest of monsters if you know where to look. Find some and wear them!

He really was stuck on that point.

"There are a lot of people on this cabin I don't know the name of," Haku answered with a shrug. "Politeness doesn't require a name to be invoked. That was how I was raised. If you want, I have pants pockets to hold yours in until you need it." The almost innate need to respect others in order to further oneself was not uncommon in his clan and was considered practically genetic at this point. It become most bothersome, however, when dealing with undesirable personalities that required even more patience.

Not that this guy was one of them. Not yet at least.

He turned to Miss Yuki to continue their thread of conversation, indicative by the slight turn of his head - the loin-clothed one was still in his sights. "Yeti are . . ." Haku searched for a word, frowned slightly, and said, "Large. And . . . fuzzy. But never challenge one to a snowball fight."

Nefertari had enjoyed the game immensly! She took the offered candy and put it in one of her few pockets. The feline didn't exactly have much storage space with such small clothing. It seemed she and the gryphoon shared that aspect really. Maybe they were more alike than she thought. She and the gryphon seemed to show the two distinct animals they were combined with. Tahki showed the eagle side while she, Tari, showed more of the lion side. Still, it was interesting to her. What was this boy's story she wondered? What kind of creature was he?

She listened to Tahki and the new boil, Haku, speak. How interesting their lands were. She decided to join in the conversation with her own accented voice.

"I have never seen snow either. In my lands, sand blows as wild as any snowstorm. And it is always so hot. I live in my ancestral home of Egypt with the rest of my family," she smiled. It was interesting, at least to her, that so many people lived in such different environments.

"There are many cities in my land but you cannot crowd too many people there due to the lack of water. Keeps the population under control," her tail swished on the floor.
