beeru and beru[japanese] sound quite similar to me. the first means beer and the other one means building. but im sure if you said it wrong in the sentence the interpreter would make out that you meant something that made sense
with the sentence you were saying

The difference is that for beer, the vowel is elongated. Thats how lots of Japanese words distinguish from each other, by vowel length.

And, uuh, I dunno. Another Japanese one; 'yuki' is snow, and 'yuuki' is courage.

French:

Le feu - Fire
fou - Crazy

This one confused me in Beauty and the Beast. Gaston's assistant is Lefou or the fool.

Homonyms you mean? There's almost only that in French X'D

Ver [ worm ] / Verre [ glass ] / Ver [ verse ] / Vert [ green ]

Or Maire [ mayor ] / Mère [ mother ] / Mer [ sea ]

Par [ by ] / Part [ part ] / pars [ as in I leave ] / part [ as in he leaves ]

For [ eeh... Can't find the translation , 'en son for intérieur' kinda means 'to himself' ] / Fort [ strong ] / Fort [ sort of castle ] / Fore [ as in I drill ]

Suis [ am ] / Suit [ follow ] ( there's always a stupid joke on that surprised Je suis [ as in follow ] Anne, mais je ne suis [ as in be ] pas Anne [ I follow Anne but I'm not Anne , but you could as well understand I'm Anne but I'm not Anne -__- ] )

Plaie [ wound ] / plait [ please ]

Faire [ do / make ] / Fer [ iron ]

@ Je suis folie : you forget the "s'est" [ pronomial form ,like in ' il s'est fait mal : he hurt himself ] and 'sais/'sait' [ I or you know / he knows ] with ces / ses / c'est ;]
So that makes sais / sait / s'est/ c'est / ses / ces surprised

Ah merci beaucoup. Toujours content apprendre. :]

I'm not entirely sure - but isn't there a slight difference between fou and feu?

I think feu has more of an 'uh' sounds and fou is 'oo'
I could be mistaken. It's happened before. Haha.
