Ally blushed "Look who's being all about looks now!" she snapped back as they ran. They ran over some wooden planks and she heard a crack. Her face turned pale as she broke through and fell "DOCTOR!!!!!" she yelled.

"ALLY!" he yelled and skidded to her side managing to grab her hand. "I got you. I got you..."
His hearts beat wildly inside his chest as he strained to keep his grip.
"Are you hurt?"

"I'm fine" she said while with her free hand looked for a place to grab hold onto. She got her grip and pushed up. Finally getting back onto the wall. "Thank you" she panted.

His demeanor had turned serious as he watched her.
"Are you sure you're not hurt?" he asked feeling a sense of worry and guilt begin to fill his heart. He shouldn't have brought her here, it was too dangerous. What kind of a fool was he?

Ally placed a hand on his face and smiled "Don't worry, I'm a big girl. I can get over a little fall like that." she grinned and got up while pulling him up with her. "It's been a fun adventure. I don't remember the last time I did this much running!"

At her words he couldn't help but crack a smile.
"Yeah well... running is one of those things that just tends to happen," he replied wryly. "But hey, it's medieval England, there's little else to do once you've seen all the shops."
He then pulled her along as they lost the soldiers in a labyrinth of city walls and rooftops.

She got a glimpse of the city from above. "It's so beauitful. And the victorians arnt around to destroy this beauty yet." she said while looking over. "Do you ever wish that you could live just one lifetime doctor?" she said in a monotone voice.

The Doctor looked thoughtful. In the early 1900s he'd met someone whom he would have liked to stay with: Miss Joan Redfern. Unfortunately, she'd ultimately walked away from him after calling him a careless monster... oh not in so many words but the emotions beneath that dark accusing look she'd given him had felt like a dagger to the heart.
"I've a time machine," he grinned lying through his teeth, "I can live whenever I want, for however long I want. Who would want to give up that freedom?"

Ally laughed to herself. "Sound like something I would say." she then turned to him. "But really, you'll end up alone everytime. No one will ever to really get to know you." she said as she glanced upon the rooftops. "Sometimes you just want to die."

"Barrel of laughs you are," he replied glancing at her, "I think... humans see me as a distraction. They travel, they enjoy their stay, and once they realize that what they really want is something I can't give them... they leave. I simply provide simply the thrill of adventure, nothing more."

"Becuase unlike a human I don't betray my friends for worldly things. I don't lie unless it truely was needed, and I actually care about the universe." she started to walk back and forth in front of him. "I understand you Doctor. I know how it feels to be the last of your kind. I know how it feels to see your planet burn." she was silent for a moment. "I know why you would keep secrets from anyone and everyone."

The Doctor watched her pace with a carefully guarded expression. He finally pushed off the wall and sighed.
"It's not betrayal to fall in love, or to want a normal life," he replied looking at her steadily, "otherwise, they would end up alone every time. Like I said Ally, I merely provide a distraction, and I don't resent them for it."
He walked on towards the next row of buildings.
"We should go before the soldiers find us."
