Justin stayed silent, not wanting to blow his cover. suddenly, his leg started to itch, but he tried to ignore it.

Elizabeth smiled, "I'm feeling alright Alex, just a little tired." She said, pulling her wet hair in to a ponytail. Alex frowned some, "James didn't punish you too badly, did he? Because of the dragon?" He asked, concerned for his friend. James was the name of her step-father and Alex knew the kinds of punishments he usually used on Elizabeth. She shook her head, "It wasn't that bad," She said, but her friend knew when she was lying. he strode across the room and caught her chin, moving her head to the side to reveal a bruise that had been hidden by her dress. "Really? This bruise says otherwise." Alex said, looking up at her with a raised eyebrow. Elizabeth sighed, "I've learned to deal with it Alex, besides, I've gotten off worse before. She got up, making sure not to move the blankets too much and moved to her dresser to put her brush down. Alex heard something and he turned for the door. He opened it, "I'll talk with you later Eliz." he said, giving her smile before he left, softly closing the door behind him.

Justin had seen the bruise, and he frowned. "I'm sorry." he told Elizabeth. James had hurt her because of him.

Elizabeth turned to face Justin and she gave him a soft smile, "You don't have to apologize. James has given me worse then this, trust me." She said.

Justin still looked sad. "I know, but I still don't like seeing you hurt." he told her.

Elizabeth smiled again, "Well, things like this happen. We need to get you out of here though." She said, wanting to get Justin as far away from James as she could.

Justin nodded, although, he didn't entirely want to leave Elizabeth here with that monster.

Elizabeth nodded, "Everyone goes to bed about an hour before sunrise so I"ll sneak you out then." She said.

Justin nodded. "what about you? if James finds out after I get away, he'll hurt you even worse. I can't take the guilt." he told her.

Elizabeth hugged Justin, "I'll be fine, I promise." She said.

Elizabeth pulled back reluctantly and smiled up at him, "I'd better go check and see what's going on. I'll come back with some food for you, stay here." She said, picking up some jeans and a t-shirt. She changed quickly in the bathroom before leaving her room, closing the door behind her.

Justin sighed and sat on the bed. he wished he could help Elizabeth somehow.

Elizabeth went to check on things that went on around the base. She ran in to James again and got punished once more before going to speak to her mother after failing to tell her step-father where Justin was. When she was done, she came back to her room with some meat for Justin. She opened the door and stepped inside, "Hey, I brought you something to eat." She said.
