She sighed after a few minutes, and wiped her eyes on her sleeve. she sat there still for a little while, just thinking. Eventually, she drew herself back up to full height, and walked slowly out of the shack onto the grounds...

Aludra Yvette...

"How beautiful..." she said in a whisper. Aludra was standing just a few inches away from the wired gate that seperated her from the Shrieking Shack. Nearly every time she visited Hogsmeade she had to stop and visit this monument. Ever since year one at Hogwarts she had heard tales and rumors of a horrid beast living inside of the run down shack, preying on innocent students who liked to sneak the grounds at night; most likely a teacher induced rumor to keep the students in their beds. Others told of tormented souls imprinted into the house stuck in limbo between the afterlife and death. These did nothing more than make Aludra laugh. She knew perfectly well the shack had made no noises in the years she had been here at Hogwarts. A sadness drifted and settle into her heart when she realized she would see this sight no longer. After this year she might never return to the school if the Headmistress wouldnt give her a job... "I will miss this place." she murmered to herself, reaching her hand out to touch the wired fence.

Aludra Yvette...

Aludra brought her hand back to her body unwilling to touch the spiked wire. "Maybe with luck I'll get to see you again one day." She turned around and headed back the way she came' she had spent too much time in Hogsmeade already; there was things she had to do before the end of the year.

Lucas- 6th year Gryffindor
He smiled a bit at the 30 points, but his face fell into lines of misery as they walked and crawled throuh the Whomping Willow. Lucas shivered as he crawled up into the Shrieking Shack. Everything seemed torn apart, like they were in a house hundreds of years old. It was dusty, cold and dark. The headmistress led him into one of the cleaner rooms and took out a goblet full of smoking potion. She split it into two goblets, conjuring another goblet from mid-air. She told him to drink one now, and one tomorrow afternoon. No sugar could be added to it, no matter how disgusting it tasted. She gave him the goblet and he glanced at her face over the rim. She looked worried and a bit...was it pitying? He took a deep breath and took a gulp.

'The worst thing he ever tasted' was a horrible understatement. It was like muck, sewage, but it burned in his throat it went down badly, like sludge. He gagged and coughed a number of times before he could even take the second sip. Just get it over with... he told himself. And as he said it, Fionna's angry face swam in his brain and tears swam in his eyes. He lifted the goblet up and drank it all, chugged it. He gagged and clutched his stomach for the next half-hour afterwards, the goblet taking a while to stop smoking. Lillian conjured a plate of sandwiches that wouldn't end, and a jug of pumpkin juice. She asked if she wanted him to check on him tomorrow, he said no. He'd spend tomorrow here alone.

Headmistress Lillian Van Nikolai

Lillian looked a bit worried when he said he didn't want her checking up on him. She knew the plate and jug would re-fill itself, so he'd be taken care of, but she hated knowing that she couldn't help at all, but give him a potion that made him gag.
"I hope you feel better, Lucas, just drink the rest of it tomorrow and you'll still be in your own mind when you transform." She was trying to sound professional, but couldn't keep the concern out of her voice. She would've said just be careful, but didn't want to harp on. "See you Tuesday." She said, making a huge effort to smile. She took the charm off him and off herself once she got back to the castle. She had no idea what Lucas was going through, and hoped she never would. She could understand a lot in life, being tortured, being separated, facing death, not being able to say goodbye, being betrayed. She knew a lot about loss. But this...literally turning into a beast every full moon, she never knew. Lucas never got to sit around and enjoy the light it brought, at least not since whenever he got his bite. There was no pretending he wasn't a monster, he was. Normally of course he wasn't, but each full moon he really was.

When she was out of sight of the shrieking shack, she stared up at the nearly full moon herself, grateful at for her at least, it didn't mean despair.

Lucas- 6th year Gryffindor
The moment he heard the headmistress's footsteps die away, he collapsed on the moth-eaten bed and cried. He had it all, and lost it all. Had Fionna, had a friend, had maybe a future girlfriend...and she was gone. In one night, it was all gone. It was like the night he was bitten all over again. Everything had changed. He would never forget it as long as he lived...

He was too young to understand what being a werewolf felt like, what true pain felt like, but old enough to still have the crystal clear images wash over him in his sleep, years later. His parents had always hated the werewolves, ever since Voldemort had really come to power once more and used them to bite young kids. His parents always warned him to stay clear of those filthy dangerous beasts, and he always did. But his curiosity got the best of him one full moon. He wanted to go out there and fight the werewolves, he had a little plastic sword and everything, thinking himself brave. He had heard stories about young boys his age getting captured and held hostage until full moon, when they were bitten, and raised away from home. He was determined to go out and rescue them, like a prince rescuing a princess. So he set out, late at night, when everyone was asleep. His parents were always very cautious when the full moon approached, so he had to shove aside box after box before he reached the door. He ran off into the woods, along with some of his friends. They'd all made the team together and as they entered the woods, his friend yelled "CHARGE!" and they piled in...they were so stupid...

Lucas- 6th year Gryffindor
After, what, 10 minutes? after being in the woods, they were found. They weren't Death Eaters, they were like snatchers. They dragged Lucas and his friends back to their little clearing in the woods, where the werewolves lurked. Lucas watched as his friend was lifted by the scruff of his neck, dangled in front of the werewolves like bait, and eaten alive screaming, "MOM! MOM IT HURTS! PLEASE, MOM! MOM! LUCAS, GET MY MOM!"
The snatchers dragged his bloody mass of a body back and cast spells and protective enchantments to keep themselves safe from the werewolve's blood lust. Lucas was crying and stabbing the plastic sword into the man's leg, but it just bent up and did no damage. The man laughed at him and took the little sword from him. Lucas would never forget the words, "Why are you putting your effort into hurting me, boy? The fun show's just about to start." They lined the rest of them up and did the same, dangling them like meat in front of the werewolves, they tossed all the young boys into the pack and laughed as Lucas felt jaws clamp savagely around his legs, arms, torso, everywhere he was burning, bleeding, he saw one of his friends get their throat ripped out. This is how he could see thestrals...out of the half a dozen or so boys that went in, two came out alive. Some of the boys he'd saw die in there, he hadn't even known. They had clearly kidnapped other boys in the area. The screams had eventually attracted the townspeople, who rushed to Lucas's and the other boy's aid. The other boy was wounded worse than Lucas was, and did die later in St. Mungo's. The Montgomery family was devastated, he was a bit younger than Lucas, only 5. He hadn't been part of the group Lucas had gone with into the woods, he was already captured by the werewolves by the time Lucas actually got there. ((THIS BOY IS IN HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF BLOOD PRINCE, I THINK CHAPTER 'AFTER THE BURIAL'.)) Lucas stayed in St. Mungo's for a while and managed to recover, but he was forever scarred with the memory. He was the only one to actually live through it...he didn't know how or why, but he never felt more isolated and separate than when he was dragged out of the forest alone. He'd never forget that massacre, how he watched his friends die brutally, how he almost bled to death himself. They had been his best friends and only friends, and he lost them in a night. He never thought he'd have friends again, so never thought he'd ever feel that pain. But now he lost Fionna, and couldn't help but replay the story line flickering in his head.

((A quick note before I post, tonight is the HARVEST MOON, it shines brighter than any other moon, it's called the harvest moon because it gave more time for farmers to harvest crops, it lasted longer I think, and you can actually see the craters of the moon without a telescope. So Lucas is in for it tonight.))

Lucas- 6th year Gryffindor
Lucas fell asleep early in the morning, and his whole body had been shaking. He assumed this was from crying. He completely forgot, it had slipped his mind...it was harvest moon. Last night had been nearly a completely full moon, closer than usual. ((This is accurate, no lie, Sept. 12th 2011 is harvest moon) He woke up feeling sore and tired. He didn't move, there was no point. He wasn't hungry or thirsty. Come midday, he looked at the Wolfsbane goblet smoking on the floor. He crinkled his nose at it, but stretched out his arm and picked it up off the floor. He chugged it down and started gagging and coughing just like last night. Once the goblet was drunk and drained he rolled over on his stomach and closed his eyes tightly. Why was he in so much pain? It was barely afternoon...by late-afternoon, he didn't think it was his heartache. He figured it must have been so, but something was wrong...he was in pain, but he wasn't transforming...he vaguely knew the burning sensation consuming his body from somewhere, but it didn't click right away. Then he stood up and looked in a crackling mirror across the room, and he knew it. The answer was written on his face: Harvest moon.

During a harvest moon, you can see all the craters in the moon without even a telescope. There were only about 1 per year, so Lucas hadn't suffered through very many. Being a werewolf during harvest moon was about the worst possible thing he had ever had to face. As painful as the bites. He felt weak at the knees and buried his face in his hands and started pacing the room.
"DAMMIT!" He screamed, putting his face sideways into the pillow, facing the smoking empty goblet and the tray of uneaten sandwiches. He clenched his teeth together, closed his eyes tight and fought the wail threatening to escape him. He stayed like this until the moon crept across the sky, full and bright, and the sun grinned evilly at Lucas as it left him all too soon, to leave him in pain.

Lucas- Werewolf
He had a split second, or less than that, of the craters on the moon's glowing surface before he buckled over. The moon now dominated the sky. He felt his whole head changing shape, like something hard, or a heavy weight, was pressing down on it, his feet were in agony and he couldn't move...his whole skeleton itself was on fire as it twisted in his skin that wasn't his own anymore, but covered in thick fur. But even as the transformation stopped, the pain wouldn't cease. He'd normally lost his mind by now, but now that he kept his mind, he could feel the blood rushing in his veins as the Harvest moon glowed above. The windows were still boarded up, but like he could as a human, he could see a sliver of it through the cracks, and that sliver was enough to drive him crazy. He howled at it and paced the room savagely. He was still Lucas...but not so much anymore. He still remembered Fionna, and still felt the heartache of that gnawing away at his insides. He still knew he was a wizard, that he loved D.A.D.A. But he seemed to forget that he cared about these things...he didn't care about Hogwarts anymore, though he knew it existed and knew who he was. He still had a lingering bloodlust and wanted to leave this tiny shack. He put his front paws on the window and whined loudly. He screamed out to the full, bright harvest moon that caused him this pain. He wanted to lunge out at the glowing orb and attack it, make it feel some part of the agony that is was causing him. If it hadn't been Harvest moon, he might have been a bit more bored and a bit less tortured, maybe a bit more human. But for now, he was a human in different skin with wild thoughts.
You're Lucas. He told himself firmly. You're Lucas, a 6th year Gryffindor. Don't end up like the ones you hate. Don't kill, like the ones you hate.

The image of his friend getting his throat ripped out swam before his mind and it sickened, but calmed him. He stayed within his own mind and curled up in the corner, whining like a dog that had been beaten, at the pale, shining sliver of light from the moon that shone between the boarded windows.

Lucas- Werewolf
The harvest moon was killing him. He couldn't take being curled up as a wolf anymore. He was panting and looking around the room for something, anything that might relieve him of this burning curse. He spotted the mirror and looked up at it with his pointed nose. Through his wolf-like eyes he could see a monster staring back at him. He'd never known what he looked like in this form before, and now he hated it. He hated what he saw. He looked similar to a wolf, but his eyes and tail looked a bit different. He turned around a couple times until he could clearly see his short puffy tail. His mother's voice rang in his ears...'Of course we're the same, I've just never had a tail...' because he was still human on the inside, he could still hurt. He could still feel pain and sadness. Upon remembering these words he found that animals did have tears. And they could cry. He howled loudly, so it must've echoed across all off Hogsmeade. He dug his sharp nails into the wooden floor and bounded over to the bed and tore apart the moth-eaten pillow with his fangs. He clawed at the bed in a sick rage that he couldn't control. He knew that if a human were here, he wouldn't have that blood lust desire, but right now he had the desire to rip apart anything that would make him feel better. Fionna....Fionna...her name seemed to repeat like a broken record in his mind. Fionna...Fionna...he continued to bite and gnaw at the sheets. Fionna...Fionna...it was Harvest moon and he wanted to just die. He had nothing to look forward to when he got back to school. No friends anymore, since Alex and Al were bound to hate him for not coming to Quidditch...Fionna hated him...Fionna...he wanted to prove it to her, so go and run to the field right now and growl and snarl and look her in the eyes until she recognized him, until she felt a twinge of guilt, just a tiny pang, for causing him heartache on the Harvest moon...but he scowled at the thought? Cause her pain? Had he really stopped that low to want her feel any guilt at all? He had just proved it. He really was a monster. She didn't know better, she didn't know what he was. And let's face it, after he saw himself tonight, why would anyone want to know or like someone like him?

Lucas- 6th year Gryffindor
Lucas didn't slowly fade back to his human form until 6am. The moment he returned back to his original form he looked around, now fully able to take in what he'd done. The bed and the sheets on it were completely torn to shreds. The mirror was shattered, he vaguely remembered doing that an hour ago when he couldn't take staring at his face anymore. At least, thanks to the Wolfsbane, he hadn't hurt anyone. And that what was more important. Of course, he would've been even better if it hadn't been harvest moon. He sighed and took out his wand from his shabbier than ever cloak. He repaired the mirror, the sheets, though they still looked a bit cracked and a bit torn. He fixed his robes so they looked a bit neater, but they were still patchy and shredded at the knees. He looked into the mirror and frowned a bit. His hair looked especially gray after the harvest moon, the dark circles under his eyes were grayer. He ruffled up his hair a bit so the gray parts just looked like shadows. He kept thinking about Fionna...what was she going to say? He felt horrible...nothing she could say would make him feel any worse than he did right now. He wondered if the headmistress had known it was Harvest moon...would she have given him more Wolfsbane? Would she be picking him up even later? Just as he thought it, he heard a knock at the door and a soft, "Lucas?" He jumped a bit, surprised, but replied with a hoarse, "Hi, Headmaster."

Headmistress Lillian Van Nikolai

Lillian quietly opened the door and found Lucas plopping on the bed with the plate full of sandwiches in front of him, the jug still fairly full. To say he looked sick would be a bit of an understatement. He looked like he'd been through the worst night of his entire life. Still, both Wolfsbane goblets were empty. But like she'd been thinking...wouldn't this just make it worse? He'd told her he'd never had Wolfsbane before...and now that he had...now he saw what he become. Now he recognized the savagery that was eating away at him during the full moon. Wouldn't it be less painful to let him suffer through it oblivious rather than force him to see himself that way? But she wasn't going to risk her student's lives, she'd heard stories of werewolves killing because they couldn't even control themselves in that state. Horrible rumors that had been spread around when Voldemort was still in control.

Lucas slowly shook his head. "No, I'll just go back to class. I'm fine really, tired, yeah, but I don't want to miss anymore of my lessons." He stood up and left with her after she cast the Disillusion charms on them both. The whole crawl back he couldn't stop thinking about Fionna. Would she notice how tired he looked? Maybe she'd take that as an excuse and understand it or something? Would she believe the headmistress's story? Headmaster Nikolai told him on the way back about how she told the team his mother had just wanted to check on him since he was homeschooled and she was worried. He smiled a bit to himself, knowing that his mother would never be worried about him at Hogwarts, and was probably a bit thankful that he was out of her hair.
"Thank you, Headmaster." He said once they reached the grounds. She took the disillusion charm off him and herself and he waved goodbye to her as he entered the great hall and headed for the gryffindor table.

Lillian felt bad for rushing Lucas, but what choice did they have? She scurried into the passegway and down to the shrieking shack, sharp branches sticking out from underground catching her across the face. She said, "Screw this." and used a blasting charm that worked it's way up the tunnel and knocked them all aside. She stood there waiting, until he drank each drop of the smoking potion. His eyes and nose were screwed up from the smell and horrible taste of it and he looked ready to gag. Lillian just looked fearful and signlaed for him to hurry as quick as he could while she remained in the tunnel.

She didn't bother conjuring any food, he was going to leave early for quidditch practice. He'd be exhausted from a night of no sleep, but maybe they'd just be doing drills, maybe he'd be fine? She bit down on her knuckles and grabbed the goblet as he tossed it aside. She took the dissillusion spell off him and waved goodbye, heading back down the tunnel, closing the door to it behind her. Not even before she crawled out of it did she hear whimpering and howls of pain behind her. She took a breath of relief. They'd made it just in time. She got out of the tunnel, headed back to the school, took her own dissillusion charm off and relaxed, knowing her students were safe. All but Rhiannon, anyways.
