Shehk wasn't gonna lie, she just wasn't feeling it. Then again, she was still suffering from the problem of 'it's too light in here'. Well, sort of. It wasn't like she could completely blame everything on it being light out at the moment. It just..

Well, was distracting, that was all!

"Finally," Oh good, was the lecture almost over?! "There is another way to attack the enemy: you can use your Fear against them. Because you are first years, you can only call upon your ability once. There are seven known Fear techniques, and every Fear falls under them. They are:

The Barrier is quite possibly the oldest technique in Halloweentown. As its name suggests, it's all about taking and negating damage, and there's the chance that it can heal you as well.

The Gambler's Chance. This technique was developed by a demon known simply as Juanito. Legend has it that after a dispute over whether or not his tactics were legit, he unleashed one of the most powerful attacks anyone in Halloweentown has ever seen at that time. While it does tend to deal the most damage out of any other type of Fear technique, it has the unfortunate chance to do just as much damage as backlash to the user.

The Fleet Foot can also apply to those those with out or with more than two feet. This Fear technique is all about using speed to your advantage, and quickly delivering two strikes instead of only one. It was created and mastered by a reaper, who specialized in sneak attacks and earned the name "Twilight's Blade" as a result. This technique also doesn't need to relate to the user's own speed -- it can also relate to the slowing down of an opponent, in which case the user would seem to be far more fleet-footed than their slower opponent.

The Steady Rhythm is the technique first coined by an Undead dancer used to descibe her Fear. Her steps were so in tune to her surroundings that she was able to slowly wear down her opponents, just by stepping and stomping to their natural (or unnatural) rhythm.

The Eye, if I remember correctly, was a technique developed and mastered here at this very school. Followers of the Eye manipulate their Fear not to damage, but to enable them to hit their opponents easier.

The Battle Cry is favored by in large by Monsters, like myself. It's unknown who created it, and it probably rivals The Barrier for title of being the oldest Fear technique. While it doesn't seem to do anything initially, if you can strike enough Fear into your opponent with your battle cry, roar, or howl your next strike will deal more damage.

The Mind is the very last known technique and is rather recent. Ghosts tend to favor this, as the Mind tends to rely on tricks and illusions to confuse their opponent. It's not just fun and games, though -- these tricks and illusions can deal damage too.

Everyone's Fear falls into one of these seven categories. If anyone would like me to elaborate more on a specific type, please let me know."

---------------
OOC:
Here is a list of what I suggest for your student's FEAR:
  • Shehk - The Battle Cry
  • Sin - The Mind
  • Kasumi - The Mind
  • Temes - The Battle Cry
  • Tybalt - The Barrier
  • Valkjosandi - The Battle Cry
  • Emily - Gambler's Chance
  • Lilura - The Fleet Foot
  • Belladonna - The Battle Cry OR Gambler's Chance
  • Valentino - The Battle Cry

Think of every FEAR ability as a pokemon ability. At the very core, each ability is able to:
- take a lot of damage
- strike the enemy
- distract the enemy
- poison the enemy
- snipe the enemy
- finish off the enemy
- avoid the enemy

My suggestions were based off the gist of what I read from your student's Fear. AyeAvast gets two suggestions since I'm not sure which direction Belladonna wants to go after summoning her tiny Tarot-Death figure. : D ;;

Rite, class is almost over (HUZZAH) except now:
1) Roll two 6-sided dice again. Tell me whether or not you hit or missed, and how much damage you dealt.
2) Go fill out and post the form HERE with a buncha stuff. The types of Fear doesn't reflect what each one does exactly (ie, The Natural Rhythm at its core deals damage over time, meaning it can be anything from a sort of poison to a dance, to a series of quick strikes or even be an ability that makes the opponent so intoxicated that they keep falling down!)

Your student's Fear ability MUST relate to what the class-type does, however. We reserve all rights to place your student's Fear under a different type if it doesn't fit. (hint: if your Fear ability is able to shoot lasers from your eyes, there's no way that technique can be classified under 'The Barrier.') If you are unhappy with your Fear's special attack, professors can help you change and adapt your Fear into something else that you prefer -- this IS a school, after all. ;3

"Thank Jack," the irate familiar sighed, waiting for Emily to finish getting her punch on. He was a little annoyed to admit it, but the witch hadn't done too badly in this class. Yet. And at least she had yet to use her FEAR attack...

Mr. Monty shuddered and tried to think about his "happy place." Which happened to be under the witch's bed, right next to his stash of ill-gotten catnip.

Alrighty! Time to try this out! The voices in her head whispered sweet nothings of fire and death and possible dismemberment as Kasumi listened to the latest lecture. The Mind, huh? That did make sense, considering what was happening to her. She silently thanked Miss Professor Red for her lecture and stood to try this again. Could she manage to send the voices away this time? Make someone else suffer with them for a while?

Sin took the professors words to heart and tucked her wings in, it wasn't like she could use them to fly anyway. She folded them neatly against her back and then let another punch fly. Her punches were consistent if not powerful at least. She quickly brought her fist back in her legs still springy ready to move.

Practice they said makes perfect, well if that was the case Sin had a lot more practice to do. Still she was improving slightly and at least now she could throw a punch without looking totally girly and clueless. She licked her lips and then jabbed again with another punch quickly drawing her fist back in. That one had felt a little tougher, maybe if she had been hitting something it would have hurt it. Then again that might just be wishful thinking.

She moved out of her half crouch and listened as the Professor seemed to be wrapping class up. She went over all the different classes of fears in her mind. Mind...yes mind was probably hers, especially if she got a sudden jolt of the professors emotions. She was eager to try it out now, to practice more. Still this session was over and she let out a soft exhale.

Now Sin was really looking forward to hitting the lockers, doing a load of wash, and then soaking in a deliciously toxic bubble bath. Mmmm yesss!

((Roll: 7 = 1 damage = 1hp of damage = HIT!))

(( Pach asked a good question in the battle card thread:

Quote:
School of Fear: I have NO IDEA. (I -think- it'd be Battle Cry because it's a stat booster? IDK what any of those things -mean-. Is there an example of what each is?)

You guys are the examples. ;D But yes, Battle Cry is the stat-booster -- your next attack will deal additional damage.

A quick summary:
Barrier -> blocks/negates the next attack of your opponent
Gambler's Chance -> deals high damage, but also has a chance to deal high damage back to you
Fleet Foot -> take two turns
Steady Rhythm -> deal damage over time
Eye -> Makes it easier to hit your opponent for a couple rounds
Battle Cry -> boosts your next attack
Mind -> deals an average amount of damage

Otherwise, being in the dark/garlic/silver has no effects in battle -- it's just an RP thing. :3 You're free to RP her as being weaker during those times.

Also, doublecheck what I asked of your latest roll -- I'm not just looking for how much damage you dealt. O: ))

Hmmm... This was proving to be a little easier than he thought it would be. Well, if he concentrated enough, that is. He was doing damage at least! But there was still room to improve. Well... Perhaps over time and practice he would start to get better? That aside, the other students seemed to be doing pretty good as well. Which was good, if they were all going to survive at least one year here, they were going to need to learn to fight properly. He learned that, after experiencing a small taste of the other bathroom.

((Hit, 5 Damage))

Shehk was actually finding this class to be therapeutic in it's own twisted way. In fact, all she really had to do to concentrate was imagine one of those stupid cleaning gnome's faces and punch the air.

HIYAAHHHH!!!

Pow! Punch the air. Huzzah! It didn't work out, then uh... she was at a loss. But hey, she was feeling like she was somewhat getting the hang of it! She'd just...punch gnomes.

[ Hit, 5 damage ]

Chuppi was getting more confident as her kicks and hits went on and on, though she was getting tired and wanted to stop. How much longer did the teacher intend on making them do this? If they had to keep going for much longer the monster was going to lay down and go to sleep, something she knew would likely wind her up in another session of detention.

But she was so tired. . . .

Hmm. Red nodded to herself, her werewolf-visage fading away to leave her humanoid shape. "That's enough," she said, stopping in front of them. "I think that's enough for now, there's only so much I can teach you before you're better off finding out on your own. And considering how some of you punch..." She grinned, "Let's just admit that punching isn't for you, 'kay? Feel free to experiment and find your own styles, however do NOT engage someone without a battle pass. Always ask to see your opponent's pass before engaging in combat. Trust me, you do not want to violate this rule."

She paused, lifting her hands to quietly number off something as she muttered under her breath. "Hmm... Aside from all that, if you think you're out matched you can yield to the opponent or flee before the battle is up. If that happens, you do NOT have to give them your emblem if you're the type who'll only give their emblem away to the stronger person."

"If you're going up against a reaper, having a weapon does not automatically make them hit you stronger, or make it hurt more. Reapers channel their Fear through their weapons, and without proper technique, their weapons hit the same as their fists." She stopped to shrug at the reapers, "That's just how it works. Even if a reaper tries to stab someone and it connects, you're not going to die immediately. When you enter combat, your personal Fear makes your body react and move differently than normal. For some, at least."

"I believe that is all. Unless you have a question, feel free to leave."

WHEW sorry it took me nearly a month to wrap this up guys, the 7 Sins event has eaten all my attention. @_@

For participating in this, everyone receives +1 Growth Point. When you engage in a battle or spar with someone, I will post at the end of every FINISHED spar/battle with the growth points earned.

Battle Passes will be arriving AFTER the battle guide finally gets written up (aksjdfkafh), since the cards will reference things in the guide rather than attempt to cram a lot of text onto a tiny card. 8Da ))

ALSO, FOR THE REAPERS:

When you approach Red and inquire about retrieving your weapon, she nods and walks to her office. She unlocks the door and disappears within, appearing again moments later... without either the scythe or spear. "H'okay, I have some good news and bad news," she begins. "The bad news is that the cleaning gnomes got ahold of your weapons. The good news is that they're in your rooms already. If I were you, I'd go check your dorm room now."

When you arrive, it seems that Red was correct: your weapons ARE in your room. They just happened to be duct taped to the ceiling, and in Tartalo's case his scythe blade-mouth was especially wrapped up. Both weapons take two hours to retrieve, from finding a ladder to peeling duct-tape off of your ceiling. At least you took the time to lodge a formal complaint -- perhaps next gym class will be more lenient with weapons...?
