S'kor listened solemnly to O'rer's instructions with a slight nod of his head. Let Moria and D'lin go first. He wanted enough wing room for Scarath without competing with the others.

Waiting until the space was clear he mentally nudged his dragon forward. A quick check to either side for his wings then,Alright Scarath. Fly! He felt the muscles bunch under his saddle. The great wings spread up. His own grip with hand and legs tensed in anticipation.
With a shove and great down sweep, the bronze sent himself aloft. His wings beat a second, then third time. Scarath trumpeted loudly. 'We fly!' At an urging from His, he turned in a long glide.

The initial launch nearly snapped his head back. Horses never did that! The wind was a constant new thing to be dealt with too. S'kor focused on the movements his dragon used to simply fly forward. Much like learning to ride a horse's trot or canter; once he found it S'kor knew he wouldn't forget it.

Comfortable with the forward flying motions, he looked around. There was Hitath above them, watching. He could barely see the others still on the ground for the bronze wings obscured his vision of the ground unless he leaned forward over the shoulder. S'kor waited until Scarath got more height before asking him to turn in a glide. Lets see how it feels. Right away, he noticed it was much smoother. Not bad, and certainly useful for looking down.

She was slightly embarrassed that O'rer had to come over and show her what she did wrong with her harness. Her spirits, however, were still in the sky. With a smile and a polite 'thank you' to the man, before she went over the harness again herself. Optheli was going to make sure she had it down pat for next time. Dynith stood patiently and did as her rider asked. The sooner they pacified him, the sooner they could fly.

F'ren grumped privately to Toulonth "Why is he showing me again, i got it right .. eventually .. what's his problem now? just because i was late getting it right.""Because he is showing you how to remember the right order the first time, he has done this many times with Hitath and he does not forget but you will not forget the next time, let him show you so we can fly together today" she scolded ever so lightly, she did not want to miss out on taking Hers up into the air where they belonged.

Outwardly he nodded and agreed, watching and repeating O'rer's actions, making sure he at least tried to memorise the correct placement of the straps, "Yes O'rer Sir, i see where i was going wrong" he said flatly, biting his tongue against the sharp tone of the Candidatemaster, Toulonth was excited and eager to fly today, he wasn't going to slip up and get them banned from the air... not today.

One by one, the dragons took to the air, and S'kagi felt his pulse racing as they waited for their turn, which felt like it came too fast and not fast enough at the same time. Luvith was tense, and enthusiastic, and lept into the air with surprising power. It was one thing to watch her on her own, it was another animal entirely to be sitting astride her when she did so. He'd been dragon back twice before, once when searched, and a second time when he transferred to Trine, but he hadn't been bonded with either of those dragons, hadn't been part of the relationship, which made it a world different.

Isn't it wonderful? Luvith sounded, and felt triumphant.

Worth every minute I waited before I met you.

The more time he spent around Luvith the easier it was to forget any doubts that he might not have impressed, and she certainly made every effort to encourage that. In her mind, their meeting at Trine hadn't been a chain of chaotic events, ending in something good, but a force like gravity, drawing them together.

They worked to gain height, dragon and rider watching to be careful that their upward trek didn't take them into the immediate path of another riding pair.

I wonder how many people in the Weyr watch these lessons. It seemed like an interesting question, it must have been something of a treat, watching mostly grown dragons and their riders spiral into the air together.

------------------------------

S'in and Linnaeth followed the others into the air as well, S'in's general efforts to only stand out slightly marred by his enormous grin, and the death grip on Linnaeths leathers. Linnaeth, of the two of them, was a bit more obvious, chirping and singing with enthusiasm.

F'ren and Toulounth will also join us, right? He asked, double checking, since the green rider was still on the ground, getting help from O'rer.

They will. They just have to wait a little longer

Good, he'll enjoy this.

It seemed to take forever for the bigger dragons to get off the ground, but both K'ro and Viridith managed to keep their impatience internal. Soon. Very soon. The brows were off now, clearing the way for the blues. The blues were off.

"Now it is our turn!" Hissing like a boiling kettle trying to release pressure, Viridith first glanced about to make sure she wouldn't ram into any of her classmates and then flung herself into the air. "You are heavy!" she exclaimed as she beat her wide wings rapidly against the air, "it is much easier for me to take off alone!... We are flying together." He was heavy, but she didn't care anymore. The world was dropping away below her, and she was with Hers. Together. Flying.

"...Yes. We are, aren't we?" It took K'ro a good few seconds to drag together even those few words. Flying. He had been right, it was better than it had been on the way here. He could feel the strain of Viridith's muscles. Their hearts raced in exhilarated synchrony. Viridith's keen eyes still picked out the details of those left behind on the ground, and as she turned her head they saw their clutchmates all around them in the air. They roared a greeting to the others, sharing their joy at being in the sky at last, though of course the dragon's voice drowned out the man's.

"This... this is nothing like just watching the world below with your eyes," K'ro said as he recovered his individuality from the dual mind the two of them had been for a few moments.

"Of course it is not," Viridith responded, turning carefully in the air to keep close (but not too close) to the rest of the class. "It was not perfect for me to be here without you," she went on, "we were always meant to fly together. This is what we have been waiting for."

She was right, of course. Learning to flame and between were rights of passage too, but they were nothing like the milestone that taking to the skies together for the first time was. For the first time... For the first time he felt like a true rider, rather than an ex-fishercrafter struggling to adapt. K'ro of green Viridith. Up here, it was hard to imagine how he had ever been anyone else.

"You can open your eyes mine, I won't let you fall" Plexith's voice broke into D'lin's mind, the bronze hadn't wasted any time in taking to the air once it had become clear that S'kor and Scarath were allowing them to go first, and D'lin had not complained at all, far to caught up in the excitement of the moment to think about what flying actually meant..until they'd gotten a good bit off the ground and he'd caught a glimpse below him. They were HIGH...very high, higher he as sure then any human was supposed to ever go.

" Any human but a Dragonrider!" Plexith had insisted, his tone clearly indicating just how pleased he was to be flying with D'lin. His pleased tone however hadn't been enough to keep D'lin's stomach from clenching slightly and his hand's from tensely clutching at Plexith's neck ridge. Now here he was with his eyes squeezed shut while Plexith glided on the currents as confidently as any bronze should, and it was..shameful really..to sit on a bronze and be afraid of heights. Almost demeaning to Plexith and so D'lin crack his eyes open and chanced a look around, trying to relax as best he could."See? It's not so bad mine, we are meant to fly!"

G'brel couldn't believe how nice and right this all felt as they continued to fly with their fellow Weyrlings. Bank right a little. I wish to see the Weyr better from above.

We will be seeing it our entire life, Lifth pointed out with a faint touch of amusement, but he complied and made a wide turn, careful both not to fly into any other dragons and not to tilt too much to risk putting His in any danger.

"Lifth, it's so beautiful up here," the teen said in awe as she surveyed the wonder that was Trine Weyr. She had lived here all her life, but never before had she seen in from such an angle. With a mock pout, she said, "You've been hiding this from me all this time while you've been practicing flying. So mean." If it had been physically possible, G'brel got the sense that Lifth would have been rolling his eyes right then.

You are being ridiculous, Mine.

The teen couldn't help but giggle. Yeah, yeah, I know. Alright, back closer to the others then. Um, just make sure not to crash into anyone. Cause that would be very bad for all parties involved.

I know what I am doing. You need not worry. He wouldn't collide with a fellow on his own anyway, but especially not when he had His with him. He would not be so foolish as to risk any injury to her with careless flying.

Serinth had no problems waiting to go unlike what several of her clutch-sibs and psuedo-sibs (in the case of the Gold's eggs) seemed to be feeling and, even though the Crimson could still feel the pain that radiated from Ofelia's being, she was more than content to keep it slow and steady. Patience was something that this pair had, which was very odd all things considered at how stubborn Ofelia was and how wishy-washy Serinth could be, so when it finally came time for them to take off and enter the skies they were ready.

Just hold on. We're going.

Who do ya think made these leathers? I'll be fine, ya just get us off the ground an' show 'em what yer made of.

There was a chuckle of amusement from Serinth as she moved her body into take-off position, her mighty wings beating as she lifted rapidly into the air. Ofelia felt her neck snap just a bit, adding whiplash to her already growing list of pains for the day, but the sheer amount of adrenaline that ran through her veins the moment she could no longer see the ground beneath her erased all sensation , save for one. Joy. Both dragon and rider let out a mental whoop as they swerved and moved to make room for the following dragons, Serinth not wanting her large size to prevent the smaller colors from having a chance in the sky. Sure there was lots of sky to be shared, but sometimes people and dragons preferred to fly close to one another.

'ey, wanna try flyin' that pattern we watched the other day? Ya can leave out the flips an' betweenin' an' such, but we can still do it.

Thought you'd never ask. Let's show everyone here what you and I are capable of, Ofie.

With what sounded like a roar of 'start!' the Crimson dragon suddenly took a dive downward before she spread her wings back out and slowed her fall, the movement taking her into a nice dive that allowed for an easy recovery. Both woman and dragon where in linked spirits now, Ofelia's memory and Serinth's reflexed allowing them such fun.

. . .of course it was still acrobatics. They'd get an earful.

"They are stupid," Viridith commented as she watched the crimson pair take a steep dive, "the candidatemaster will not be pleased with their showing off... We could do that. We won't. It is not time. If all of us did that, we would collide. They are very stupid. I hope nobody follows their lead."

K'ro nodded slightly, glancing down at Ofelia briefly, but quickly forgetting her and any trouble she might be in once more in favor of enjoying this indescribable new experience. Nothing in life had ever felt as right as soaring high above the Weyr with Viridith. That was being a rider, he supposed, every step forward you took with your partner became the new best moment of your life... Second best. Nothing would ever match the moment of Impression.

G'brel had to roll her eyes at Ofie and Serinth's antics. Show-offs. O'rer's gunna pull them out of the air if they keep it up. Plus, wasn't the crimsonrider fairly injured? That was a rather dangerous thing to be doing. ... Even if it did look quite fun.

There is a time and a place for everything... This is not it. He was glad at least that the maneuver had been executed successfully, but they truly were quite foolish. Not that either of the pair were exactly the brightest of individuals, but still.

Were they completely mad?? S'kagi gawped as his fellow Crimson rider went into an acrobatic display that was... well... as impressive as it was alarming. He recognized the maneuvers they'd traced out repeatedly on the ground, but seeing it in action was something else entirely.

"Is she CRAZY?" He called out, out loud, though the roar of the wind took the words away.

Luvith apparently couldn't have agreed more, growling in annoyance at the display and carefully banking away to give the former leather-crafter and her partner as wide a berth as possible.

Reckless!! Disobedience had a time and a place, but she couldn't see anything to be gained from this particular show. Certainly she'd probably caught the attention of every single student, but she'd hardly have escaped O'rer's notice either, and they would loose flight time being summoned back down. Assuming she cooperated with -that-. Worse she could get someone injured, if for some reason they missed her antics and were in her path.

Get to the ground. Now.

A streak of Green that was Hitath appeared before the streaking Crimsonrider who'd seen to it that she made a fool of herself so soon in, the usually calm dragon whirling red and yellow eyes at the pair. O'rer had not been pleased at all by the action even though he'd given a specific warning, and it was with a bellow to his lifemate that he commanded those two be brought down from the sky. The Weyrwoman would certainly hear about this.

Meanwhile the three remaining dragons on the ground were given permisison to take flight after the Candidatemaster had finished checking their leathers a last time, merely giving them a nod that they were free to go into the sky. His glare at them and the lowering down of the Crimson dragon indicated that he would not be tolerating a repeat of such actions, so hopefully they didn't need him to spell out what was and wasn't acceptable.

Hitath, inform them all that they have one more candlemark of flying to do.

Understood. Mine, don't be too rough on the Crimson - they were only having fun.

Just do as I said.

O'rer crossed his arms as he heard Hitath relay the message to both rider and dragon, and the frown on his face grew to an alarming size as Ofelia and Serinth landed.

Back in the sky Hitath continued to fly about the Weyrlings, offering words of advice here and there as she thought needed. Everyone was doing so well that she was practically glowing with pride, and she made a few notes that she sent down to her rider. Of course he wasn't listening, but that didn't really stop her from doing so.

[ Ofelia has been grounded and is getting the lecture of her lifetime. Kelvari, Optheli, and F'ren may now go into the sky.

The next mule post will close the lesson, so get in as many posts as you want/can. O'rer is currently distracted and not listening to Hitath, so go ahead and see what you can get away with! ]

Shards S'in sighed inwardly as Ofie, true to form became the first rider to get grounded. You could practically see the veins in O'rer's forehead twitching from here.

No you can't... I can't see them... can you see them? Linnaeth tilted into an slightly stomach lurching sweep that made S'in grip the leathers for all he was worth.

It's an expression!!

Oh... Linnaeth sounded a bit dissapointed as he leveled back out. Hey, can we go see Toulounth and Lifth? Maybe they'll fly together with us.

I guess so? You'd better ask their dragons first though, and don't get too... "CLOSE!" S'in yelped as Linnaeth changed directions a bit sharply, taking advantage of the distraction on the ground as he sought out the other two dragons.

Toulonth! Lifth! Come and fly with me, S'in says it's ok!

That wasn't -exactly- what he'd said, but Linnaeth had apparently decided to be a bit permissive in their first flight together. After all they were his friends. He should be able to keep an eye on them.

F'ren stared at Ofie, "What the hell are you doing?" he whispered to himself, almost flinching as O'rer came round one more time and re'checked the leathers. He breathed a sigh of relief as O'rer merely nodded, not that he expected any sort of praise from the man.

His smile could have split his face when he was told he could finally get off the ground with Toulonth, "TOULONTH WE'RE GOING TO FLY!!" He couldn't have been more excited. Climbing to her back and getting himself settled in the saddle he tried to relax his body, he'd heard of riders breaking their noses on their dragons neck the first time because they hadn't been ready for that push as the dragon leapt from the ground and into the air.

"F'renmine WE FLY!" she bugled loud and strong as her powerful wings beat in the air, jumping up off the ground she flapped her wings hard "This is harder than flying by myself but we are FLYNG!" her muscles strained a little against the extra weight but she flew strong.

F'ren whooped, looking to G'brel, S'kor and S'in the most "WHOOOOO" he yelled, punching the air with one hand, before he was forced to grab hold tightly as Toulonth banked to the left as a thermal lifted her wing. "Toulonth ... why didn't you tell me it was like this?!" "it is not the same, as flying by myself... we go to fly with Linnaeth and Lifth too if he comes!"

As soon as Hitath dashed in front of the pair, seemingly appearing out from between, the Crimson and her rider both knew they'd been caught. From where she sat on Serinth's neck Ofelia rolled her eyes at the whole development of the issue, not caring that pretty much everyone else in the sky was under the opinion that she was in the wrong.

Who really cared? Certainly not Ofelia - let everyone be peeved at her for trying something fun with Serinth. She wouldn't have even done it if her dragon hadn't suggested the idea in the first place (. . .even though she'd brought it up), so why lay the blame entirely on her? Not that she would allow them to blame Serinth either, but still. This Weyr was full of shardin' prudes.

Well it was fun while it lasted. Spoilsports.

I agree.

The pair folded their wings and dropped into a strong decent at Hitath's prodding for them to land, the motion she'd used for the dive being repeated as Serinth came to a sudden stop above the ground. She extended her wings and let her body come down easily on the ground, eyes whirling blue-green with merriment. The pair may have been grounded for now, but at least Serinth went down with style. See if anyone had anything to say about that, those wannabes! All the dragons had been talking about cutting loose when they flew, but not one had dared to do what she did!

Do you wanna do this again later when no one else is around?

It's almost like ya read mah mind.

Ofelia undid the straps and buckles that held her in place as Serinth finally settled against the ground, the massive crimson lowering down enough that Ofelia barely had to slide to get off. As soon as the young woman reached the ground her ears were greeted with the sharp sound of O'rer's voice and she sighed.

Thank Faranth Ofelia didn't have a temper.
