After his command, Erik noticed the subtle change in Lux’s demeanor. Perhaps she’s just as freaked as the rest of us. His respect meter shot up for her, and he softened his tone. “Thanks.” He took a deep breath, and he instantly became his regular, calmed, efficient self. He heard her address the girl who’d let out an outburst earlier, and he spoke up in turn. “Okay, look: let’s just listen to Lux for now. She seems to be the only here who’s got a strong head on her shoulders.” After a fact thrown out by Lux – Erik wondered briefly how she knew it, and figured she just an intelligent woman, although that eye may have had something to do with it – someone knocked a panel off of the roof and climbed up.

“Alright, who’s next?” Erik heard Lux mumble something about going last, but didn’t think much about it. If anyone was going last, it would be him – he’d caused enough trouble and dissension. He figured it was the least he could do to gain some points with the group. A person was pushed forward in front of him, and he instinctively grabbed their waist to heave them up. “Alright then, up you go.” He had no problem lifting the figure up – by the length of hair and the light weight, he assumed it to be one of the females – but she instantly fidgeted. Perhaps I should’ve given her more warning. “I’m so sorry; I wasn’t thinking.” He set her back down before she could kick him in the gut. “Can I help you up?” The blonde’s gentlemanly air had taken over, the curse of having to be formal so early in life. “I just want to get all the women out first.”

Erik heard another, high-pitched unfamiliar voice – probably the new girl – introduce herself. He smiled; someone had heard him. Although she seemed to be addressing the girl in front of him, he turned in the girl’s – Ani’s – direction. “Nice to meet you, Ani, though I can’t say much for the circumstances. I’m Erik.” Naturally, he’d wanted to shake her hand, but it was a little difficult with only Lux’s eye-light to see. “We’ll get more acquainted later.” He focused back at the task at hand.

Lux started talking about water. “Water? You know the layout of this place?” He remembered his request. “Right, sorry – later. I’ll shut up.” He could almost mentally hear one of the group think Thank God, but he could have just been imagining it. I feel like such a p***k. I guess I’ll have to explain myself just as much as Lux later, although I don’t know s**t about what’s going on.

Mōtoko continued her relentless pity-party. Truthfully, she doubted that anyone was going to come for her. The darkness didn’t help her mood any, although she’d gotten up earlier long enough to grab the thin sheets from around her hellish gurney. Despite a quick vision of them tumbling in some sort of sanitizing device, she ripped them into long strips that she wrapped around her hands, covering them from below her fingertips to her wrists. This way, her power would only react if she used her fingertips. She was tired of seeing without her permission, and until she could control the power, she wasn’t taking any more chances. Her moans were steadily consistent, until she heard the mechanical unlocking of her door. They’ve come for me! They didn’t leave me behind! But as the light streamed in, all she could see was a shadow, but it was the height that bothered her. Suddenly, an emergency light was switched on in the room, and sure enough, Dr. Archer stood in front of her.

“Well, well, misbehaving already, are we?” His smile offered no warmth, only fear to her heart. He leaned in close to her face, making her recoil behind her hair. “Just so you know,” he whispered. “We’re not stupid enough to leave our phones untapped. You think we’d just leave you to your own devices? No.” Dr. Archer chuckled low, the fear stabbing into her. She never liked any man this close, especially any that radiated the aura of malice that this man did. “Everything you do is because of us… Of me. I wanted you to call the others. Why… is for me to know.” He stood back up, and the door slammed shut again, leaving Mōtoko alone with him again.

As he crossed to her machines, Mōtoko stood, feeling almost ordered to follow him, dragging that IV around. He looked her up and down then smiled. “Interesting. You’ve made gloves? Practicing control, I assume?” She didn’t give an answer; one didn’t seem necessary. “Right. Then I suppose we’ll have a few more exercises then.” The last thing Mōtoko wanted was more ‘training’, but she couldn’t summon up enough fight to resist. She was still curious enough to ask one question, though. “The others,” she started quietly.

He looked at her sternly through his small spectacles. “Yes?”

She thought hard before deciding how to ask. “How are you going to handle them?” Dr. Archer crossed his arms. “Are we going to kill them is what you mean.” She gave a quick nod, her hair still framing her face. “No,” he smirked. “That would be such a waste. Think of all the hours, all the millions spent on you… no. We’re just going to contain them, is all. They’ve reacted too violently; we’ll have to try again.”

He shook his head so his eyes were hidden from view. “What do you mean?”

“I mean that they aren’t showing the desired reaction. I mean,” Dr. Archer continued, getting close to Mōtoko again; she could see the greed in his eyes once more. “This is a test. You think we’d let you all alone so easily? Of course, the higher-ups don’t know a thing about this, but…” He smiled devilishly. “I figured it would be a good way to test your powers. Too bad that the other doctors didn’t agree with me, but it was necessary. They’re scrambling to contain, while I’m scrambling to collect.” Dr. Archer input something into a machine’s keypad, and walked over to Mōtoko. With a simple, painful tug, he yanked the IV out of her hand and pressed a gauze bandage to it, cafeful not to touch her. “There is no way out of here.”

Something in the way he said everything so absolutely – as if he were God – gave Mōtoko courage. “You’re wrong! They’re going to find a way out of here, and they’re going to stop you, stop all of this! They are strong enough!” Her normally timid voice screamed in Dr. Archer’s face, her face pink with rage. How could he think he’s so almighty? He’s just a man.

Her courage rushed out of her as he seized her arm brutally, not loosening his grip once it took hold. “Say what you like, Chīsuzume,” he drawled sarcastically. “But notice that even if you are correct, you are not included in that equation whatsoever.” The statement shook her to her bones; her whole body froze, but her mind screamed. Still, he dragged her to the door, opening the mechanism and pulling her along out to another room. All she saw were white hallways and shined floors; she never bothered making eye contact with anyone. Dr. Archer had made her too numb. “You’re still stuck here, with me. You won’t be going anywhere.”

❝Twenty-one | Female | Lizzy, Liz, Elle, Annie ❞

Clearly, nobody was taking her side which didn't bother her nearly as much as the frustration that she allowed to take over her body --the body that always seemed to betray her and make an a** out of herself. The thoughts of resentment towards Lux at the present time were all valid, but they should not have been surfaced. Maybe this power is a little harder to control than I thought. Her body seemed foreign, which made her, in turn, feel more connected to the emotions of Elliot since his accident. Is this how he feels? So... out of control? Perhaps she inherited more from him than she thought such as his jackass attitude towards everything. Maybe I'm just as much of a b***h as he is a b*****d.

"Liz, calm down. She'll tell us if it's important to our escape. Besides, we've got more pressing matters to deal with, don't we?" The voice of Jayden. Perhaps he was right, but didn't anybody else feel weird about following her like a little puppy dog? Matters that are more pressing than our own safety? But I suppose that's exactly the counter argument as well, isn't it?

Somewhere amidst all of her battling emotions, she felt movement in the elevator --movement from Tony. It would appear that the man had propelled himself up into the top hatch of the elevator which surprised Elizabelle. He didn't seem like the athletic type to her, but then again, she wasn't at all athletic before her powers either. The brunette had a pretty clear idea of Jayden's powers and Lux's for that matter, but the rest of the group were fuzzy on the details. I'll have to pay more attention to that.

The girl whom Elizabelle had put on the spot spoke up, "Do you have any better ideas? Maybe she did, but they would never be heard. Elizabelle got a self-righteous vibe from Lux in this hell hole of a situation. Her intuitions about people were generally correct, but then again, Ms.Mordant thought she was a kind person until now. I'll have to give her some leniency, thought Elizabelle. She's under just as much stress as the rest of us and maybe this is her way of desensitizing herself to everything. The brunette was being a b***h when she was generally kind, so perhaps the blonde was being pushy and authoritative when she was generally... what? Protective? Concerned?

Her thoughts were interrupted by a soft shove from behind her. The voice gave the person away as the girl that Elizabelle helped in the hallway. The girl that she had pegged as crazy was saying very touching things towards the girl who was acting the craziest; Elizabelle. I used to be like that. The little sister that was so naive and caring that she was just begging to be picked on by him and his friends. Look at me now. Covered in blood, shouting hurtful words and swearing, even. Yes, she was starting to act more like her pompous brother, indeed. I'll have to find a way to stop that.

She smiled in the darkness towards the girl who called herself Ani, feeling better due to the kindness from the girl, Elizabelle introduced herself. "I'm Elizabelle. It was no problem. Besides, I think you just helped me out more right now than what I did to you back there." She didn't expect the small girl to understand at the moment but she followed her words --or at least she would have if she wasn't grabbed by the man she hadn't met yet. "H-Hey!" One thing she hated more than being bossed around was being touched without being consulted. Her body tensed up immediately under the hands of the stranger and in feeling this, he put her down. The newly build defense system in Lizzy went through possible scenarios, her mind liking the kick in the gut option. The tension in her body warmed and almost succumbed to the relaxed muscles. However, the girl with the blue-gray orbs took control of her body quickly, balling her fists to suppress the demon inside of her.

"Can I help you up? I just want to get all the women out first." Elizabelle was used to his kind --the people who were courteous and chivalrous, putting women before as the weaker of the sexes. A scoff took hold of her mouth before shrugging and letting the man put his hands on her waist to hoist her up. She cocked her head to the side and spoke to the man who called himself Erik. "Erik, I'll ignore how sexist that sounded and pretend you were just being kind."

Before letting herself be pushed up into the roof, she looked over to where she thought Lux was and spoke in a voice that was much softer than her previous one towards the girl, "Prove my first impression of you wrong, okay? And I'll try and do the same for your impression of me." That was as close as the blonde was getting to an apology because Ms.Mordant wasn't sorry for what she said. To a point it was the truth. On the other hand, she was sorry for the way the words had been said, the way she let her anger get ahold of her, and the way she had judged Lux without even knowing her.

And with that, she let Erik hoist her upwards and grabbed onto Tony's hand which pulled her up into elevator shaft.

"I may be small, but my looks will knock you out."

Maybe it was the relief of knowing she wasn't the only nervous one or maybe it was all the tension she was holding back, but either way Ani found herself laughing at Erik. First he tried to just pick up a very annoyed woman, but then apologizes. He had manners, that was clear to her, but he had also this clumbsiness about him that made her want to fall over laughing. It was like a comedic act or something. When he mentioned getting 'more acquainted later', she smiled in the dark. "I can't wait." She said with ease. So far Erik was the friendlist one yet. Ani put a memo of that in her head before looking back up at the long-haired girl now known as Elizabelle. "Hurry up now, we don't want those soldiers getting one over us, now do we?" She questioned.

Looking over toward Lux, she wondered what the girl meant by water. Then she looked over at where Erik was. Did Lux know the layout of the place? It could be the woman has tried to get out before. It doesn't seem like it's her first time since she was the most calm looking person Ani saw. Glancing back up she saw the form of Elizabelle going up through the elevator. Stepping forward, she reached her hand up and tried to jump up to grab Tony's, but failed miserably as she barely touched his fingertips. Frowning she looked over at Erik. "Can I get a lift?" She asked slightly annoyed with herself. She really hated being small and knowing she couldn't reach things without someone's help. Even when she went to the grocery store she had to ask a clerk for help in order to reach the box she wanted on the top shelf. She was always envious of the woman taller then her because even men preferred a woman who they could kiss without having to bend over to do it. She was lucky to have had a husband who enjoyed helping her out. Suddenly her eyes softened at his memory.

If he was still alive, would she even be here? He was so protective of her that if she was in any trouble that he would be right there so fast to make sure was never hurt. Looking back up at the elevator's ceiling, she felt Erik's hand around her waist before lifting her up. She still had to stretch to reach Tony's hand, but once she did she was pulled and pushed up on top of the elevator. Looking at Elizabelle, she moved her hand over the cable that held the elevator in place. "I was really good at this in gym class." She whispered before jumping up and grabbing hold of the wire before beginning to pull herself up. She would have thought that after all the stress her body went through earlier that she wouldn't be able to climb up well, but it was as if she was a natural. She was good at in gym, but this wasn't gym anymore. Pulling herself up, she paused a moment to look down at the others coming up before continuing on her way.

Looking up to where they were suppose to go, she did her best to stay quiet. They had to get all the way to the top and hope that it led to the roof. Ani's main concern was that it didn't. It might reach the top level, but Ani had seen spy movies where the bad guy had two elevators. One that just went up and down for guests and another that went all the way up or down to secret levels that no one knew about. It could be that this was the same case. Suddenly the sound of chatter had her freezing in place as she turned her head to one of the elevator openings. She couldn't make out the muffled conversation, but she had a good idea who was behind that door. Soldiers.

Looking down, she waved her hand to get Elizabelle's attention before pointing at the door. Pointing at the door, she then moved her hand to her mouth to show to be really quiet. Hopefully she would pass the message down because she hated the idea of those guys bursting through the door to shoot at them. They were out in the open and be easily killed if they weren't on high alert, but Ani had a feeling that whether they realized it or not, they were all ready on high alert. Something was changed about them, all of them. They had to have been experimented on by a creepy mad scientist and if they were then were all like Frankenstein. Ani doubted that even if they escaped they would live their normal lives again, of course Ani didn't have much of a normal life anyways. She lived alone, could hardly call anyone a friend, and spent all her time studying for school. After her only love died, if was as if she died too. She was just another body walking down the street. No name, no purpose. It was sad to think like that, but what else could she think of?

Climbing up with all her might, she could see the end of the line coming into a view. It wasn't very far now, but she couldn't see anything that indicated a way out to the roof. She had to keep going though. Moving farther up, she quickly reached the end of the line. Looking around, she tried her best to see an exit. There had to be one, there had to be some sort of exit from this death trap. Moving her hand up against the ceiling of the elevator shaft, she could only feel wires and smooth surfaces. Panic hit her for an instant before her hand grasped onto what felt like a lever. Holding it tightly, she pulled it towards herself and heard a loud bang that echoed down before the hatch flew open. Light poured into the elevator shaft and if felt so warm to feel it on Ani's skin. She wondered for a moment if soldiers already knew they were up there and were hiding out and waiting for them. However, she had to stay optimistic because this was their only chance. Reaching out, she held onto the rim of the opened hatch before letting go of the wire. Dangling from the hatch, she pulled herself up easily before tumbling out onto the roof. Staring up at the morning sky she could tell it was morning because of the beautiful colors coming in from the West. Relief came over her before she pushed herself up and leaned over the hatch to offer her hand to Elizabelle. They did it; they got out to the roof.

there's a dark fire inside my heart
+p+y+r+o+k+i+n+e+s+i+s+
and it's burning me alive

˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜
********************

----- The war was on. And a young captain and his men were seeing the worst battle of their lives. All around them, the sounds of weapons firing could be heard. There was barely time to think, to breathe. It was chaos.

But through the storm shone hope, and each man knew what he was fighting for, and what awaited him upon his return.

At least, that was how Captain Devon James Campbell felt. He had a family back in the states, and the last thing he wanted was to disappoint them by coming home in a casket.

But there was a war to win, and he knew he was meant to be a part of it. To make a difference. To save innocent live - even if it was at the cost of others. It was a bloody, horrible affair, but nothing was ever be solved by just sitting around. It was he who fought for freedom that eventually would win it.

Finally, after seemingly hours, a cease fire was met for the time being. And not a moment too soon. It was getting dark; the desert sun having slowly begun it's decent earlier in the evening. But now was the time for rest and reflection all the was gained and lost today.

Making his way back to his tent, Devon stopped by where they were keeping the satellite telephone. He had been waiting forever to talk to his mother, even longer to hear from his wife whom he hadn't been able to check in with for the past few days now. He wasn't sure what was happening at home, that was why he had asked his mother to check.

First though, before he allowed himself the ability to worry, he wanted to try calling his darling Chantelle - a raven haired, French beauty he had fallen in love with an married. He also missed the sounds of their child's voice.

Alexa was getting close to two now, and she was getting better with words. Her first had been "dadda". Of course, this had made a proud father even happier. But the memory now just made the captain long for home even more.

Picking up the reciever of the phone, he dialed a long international number. His home phone number. The line rang a few times before Devon became a bit frustrated. This was the ninth day in a row with out a word from Chantelle, and it was making him crazy. Where was she? How could she just not be home this often?

Slamming the phone down, he picked it up a quick moment later, and dialed the number for his parents place. It was a couple rings in that his mother picked up the phone.

"Hello?" Answered the woman on the line. Something was off though, you could hear it in her voice. It was the kind of sound that made the hair on the back of your neck stand on end, because you knew that there was something horribly had happened.

"Mom? What's wrong?" he asked, gearing up for something horrible. Dad had died hadn't he? Or maybe it was something to do with Chant--

"Oh, Devon! It's horrible!" She blurted, instantly breaking into long, heavy sobs. She was trying to talk, but she was making no real sense.

"Ma, calm down! What's going on!"

A lot more of the breathless crying. Then she seemed to take her son's advice, if only to tell him what the situation was. "Devon, it's Chantelle.... I'm so sorry!"

"What? What do you mean? What about Chantelle? What's going on?"

Her voice was so shaky through her news. "We found her yesterday.... she's dead Devon..."

All of the air in Devon's chest left him in that moment. Punched out of him as if a bulldozer had hit him in the chest.

But the woman was joking, right? Chantelle couldn't be dead. This had to be a joke.

"What?" He asked, hoping she would give him the ol' "gotcha" and they could have a laugh. But even with his hope in imminent danger of being crushed, he knew for a fact that what she was telling him was true.

User Image
His mother cried a little harder. This was obviously not easy for her either. "She was murdered... And...."

There was an "and"!? How could there possibly be an "and"!? What could possibly be worse then the love of his life being murd--

'
No!' He hadn't taken the time to think about her, but what of Alexa. What had happened to his daughter?

"We weren't able to save her in time... Alexa...."

His whole world came crumbling down in the blink of an eye. His family - beautiful wife, and darling daughter had been removed from the earth in that blink.

The soldier let the receiver fall to the ground, and crumpled along with it. He couldn't breathe, it was as if the oxygen had been removed from him, and was not going to be replaced.

With what little power he could, he cried out to the heavens, and to the injustice that had been served to him by a god that, from this day forward, he would no longer believe in. -----

"NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!" Screamed a man on the edge of sanity - the cry coming out in anger and sadness, as Devon Campbell awoke from a reoccurring nightmare he had almost every night.

His friend, and pilot, - Mark - jumped in his seat, even before Devon had fully woken up. The other male was clearly startled and confused, and it was a good thing that the military-grade cargo plane they were in was on auto-pilot or they could have just crashed.

The now ex-captain of the U.S. army, was then shaken awake by the other man; pulled from his hellish dream, and back into reality. He looked around, grasping the concept of where he was now, and what was going on. He found he was still on the small air-craft he had boarded - he took a quick glance at his wrist watch - three hours ago. Which meant they were getting close to their destination.

"Man, what was that about?" Ask his blond, since childhood, friend.

Devon looked over and only shrugged.
"Post-traumatic stress?" He guessed, though didn't want to go in any deeper into the dream then that.

Mark just looked at him with pitty. The other male now knew exactly where Devon had just been, and he was questioning himself on whether or not to start the conversation.

"Look, don't worry about it. Just keep flying the damn plane."

Jayden couldn't really see what was happening, but he could feel it. Between the car moving as someone jumped around the carrage, and the void that was created when someone left the space, the male knew Tony was on board with the plan. Good.

As he waited for the other two guys to help the women out, he had to a bit of time to think. About what? Well, what he would do once, or if, they all escaped from here. For one, he wasn't going back home. There was no way he could face his father right now. It was obvious to Jayden who volunteered him for this strange place, and there was no way he would be sent back. Not after what they had done to him - what ever exactly it was that they had done with him.

The second thing he planned to do, was get some money. Abviously his identy was comprimised if he wanted to hide from this place. They had seen his true face, and the one he was currently sporting. So he had to remain hidden. Take on a new idenity if he could.

And perhaps the final thing on his list, for which he wanted to acomplish: shutting this facility down. It was deplorable to think that other people were being subjected to the experiments that were happening her. He wanted to make sure that if there was anyone else involved, that they be set free.

He had to wonder if anyone else felt the same way?

Dimly-lit shadows moved infront of his face, illuminated by what ever little light was coming through the hole at the top of the elevator car. Had to be emergency lights. The first two, of the three girls had been lifted, and helped out.

"Lux," He directed gently. "Ladies first."

User ImageThe girls were lifted out, one by one, until Lux was the only one with authentic chesticals still standing in the elevator. She heard Jay somewhere near her, "Ladies first." There was some humor in that, but Lux's laugh sounded hollow and almost nervous in her own ears. She was lifted, and then pulled until she was standing atop the elevator, the others were moving up on the cable. She heard no gunfire, so she could only assume that things were going well.

More than anything, Lux couldn't wait to be standing on the roof. The idea was euphoric to her. She'd always been an adrenaline junkie, mostly for living on the edge-- as high up of an edge as she could find. It was all balanced, though, as water was the only thing that could paralyze Lux with fear. She thought bitterly of the last time she'd been forced into a pool.
Breathe, damnit. You're supposed to be one of the level-headed ones.

What was it they said to do? It was a long time ago. Breathe in, slow, close your eyes, count to five. Slowly. Lux opened her eyes, and took hold of the wire. She climbed upward, following the other girls until she found what she was looking for. Painted, ugly, in spray paint there was a number "15". Probably, it was painted there for maintenance. Why else? Lux held tight to the thick metal chord, and held an arm out, her fingertips locked onto the edge and she pulled herself over. This was what she loved, right? Heights? Being a million feet off the ground? Her thoughts weren't reassuring.

Lux braced herself against the elevator door, and leaned over the edge, calling to the others.
"Be careful, I'll meet you on the roof." With that, Lux had found the mechanism that opened the door. It slid open without a problem, but beyond was only more pressing dark, but even that couldn't kill the feeling-- Lux knew she was being surrounded by the familiar white on white. Familiar wasn't comforting, unfortunately.

User ImageLux moved quickly and silently along the hallway, occasionally stopping in hopes of hearing something that would draw her to the room in which her phone-mate had been located. There were voices along the next corridor, and Lux's eyes were rapidly adjusting to the light. Had they only cut power to the elevator?

Lux's grip tightened on the gun. Probably, this was a horrible idea. But she could hardly leave the girl to rot while they were making their grand escape. No matter how far her mind got from it, it always returned to the water. Before it could proceed any further down that path, Lux moved fast. Her bare feet silenced her steps as she, quickly, turned the corner, gun already firing, her weird eye had targeted what looked to be a doctor dragging a girl behind him.

He felt really bad; he hadn’t meant to sound sexist. Of course he didn’t blame her for commenting – Max would have said the same thing, and still would have kicked him in the stomach for good measure. He faintly remembered their first encounter. Max, I hope you’re okay. “Sorry, Elizabelle,” he addressed the girl who had just introduced herself, helping her reach the other male’s hand. As bold as he liked to act, he always became a wounded puppy with women. Damn you and your twentieth-century courtesy lessons, Dad. The girl named Ani came forward next, and clearly struggled in reaching the top of the elevator. He heard her groan before turning to him. “Can I get a lift?” Her demeanor made him smile – she was no Max, but at the moment, he was tired of meeting people who reminded him of his ex-partner. “Sure.” Beside, the girl was pretty cute, and Erik always made the best friends with the cute ones.

The red-head stayed behind, ordering Lux to be next. Erik was glad – he didn’t feel right about leaving Lux last, but he hadn’t really wanted to get in an argument about her going up, either. However, she was oddly compliant, and joined the others on the top of the elevator. Erik turned to the red-head with a sense of awkwardness that he hoped he couldn’t detect. “Umm, look man, I’m sorry about earlier. I’m just a little freaked out, and when you lose someone… It’s not easy. I figure you’ll explain this,” he motioned to the other’s feminine appearance, “stuff later. Right now though, I think you’re next.” Erik was serious about his thought to go last, but he didn’t feel that under the circumstances that it would be proper to help the other up. If he asked, sure, but he felt like he’d just be adding insult if he offered to pick him up. Elizabelle’s comment came to mind. That disguise or whatever it was, was pretty deceiving, and made Erik uneasy, though he knew it wasn’t really the other guy’s fault. “I can, uh… give ya a foot up, I mean, if ya need one…” He let the offer hang there, not quite sure where to go with it.

As the red-head was climbing up, a hush swept across the area; Erik could hear the low rumbling of voices on the other side of the shaft. “s**t,” he whispered, knowing that soon they’d break open the elevator car to search for the missing persons, i.e. them. The others seemed well on their way up – Lux calling something about catching up, apparently they’d found the roof – but the other guy stayed behind, lingering to see if Erik needed help getting up too, he guessed. “Thanks,” he whispered to him. “But I’ll meet up with you later. There’s no way you’re all gonna make it up there with me slowing you down anyway.” He laughed inwardly; the last thing Erik wanted to do now was leave the others, to sacrifice himself for these people he barely knew. But at heart, he wanted to be a hero, and was willing to help others. “Don’t worry; I’ll catch up. Tell Lux it’s not her fault,” he added at the last second – he didn’t want the girl to blame herself for one of them being left behind. He had a feeling that she was working hard to keep them together, no matter how she acted outwardly.

Feeling like s**t and not knowing quite what he could do, he turned to face the elevator, his chest aching and bleeding through the security guard’s shirt. Damn, he thought. The extra strain must have triggered the bleeding again. But he didn’t care. Before the elevator’s doors were wrenched opened, all he could hear were the familiar, annoying sounds of numbers reading off in his head:

Range, 3ft. Fire at will.

((Just a BTW: Erik can’t hear voices in his head like Tony, just whatever messages are on things like phones and such. Just wanted to make that clear.))

Name: Chīsuzme, Mōtoko Kyō
Age: 21
Sex: Female
Subject Ability: Psychometry

She had resolved to be compliant, at least until she found a chance again. But it seemed to her that she had lost her chance. That was before she saw the blonde rush from around the corner. She appeared from out of nowhere, gun blazing. Without meaning to, Mōtoko screamed after the first shot. Guns terrified her, and it wasn’t as if she had given the girl away – the blonde had done that all on her own.

“Damn it!” she heard Dr. Archer curse loudly, his grip tightening on her upper arm. He grabbed a radio from his coat pocket and pressed a button that seemed to trigger something, because an alarm went off in the hallway. “Calling all available fifteenth floor units,” he spoke into the radio. “A subject has been approached. It is hostile and armed – I repeat, hostile and armed. Confront at once.” Quickly he pulled Mōtoko behind him, shielding himself from the blonde’s bullets. Mōtoko had figured that he’d try to protect her, being the valuable test subject that she was, but it seemed that the doctor’s care for self outweighed her value. Am I that worthless?

“Stop!” she cried, not strong enough to pull from the doctor. “Please! Don’t shoot!!” The last thing Mōtoko wanted was to die; then this girl’s risk would be for nothing, and Mōtoko would have just caused someone else to get into danger because of her. Dr. Archer turned into a random room, but not before one of the blonde girl’s bullets caught him in the arm.

“Damn it!” he shouted again; Mōtoko guessed that he wasn’t used to a bullet’s pain. He slammed the door, another mechanical lock clacking noisily behind them. Weren’t there any normal doors in this place?

Dr. Archer threw Mōtoko brutally to the ground before switching on emergency lights and rummaging through an eye-level cabinet attached to the wall. “They’ve made it this far,” he chuckled despite his pain. A few rolls of gauze clattered to the countertop, the man’s fingers shaking as he took off the blood-stained coat to wrap up his arm; he wore a sleeveless black turtleneck, so it was easy to see the gory wound. The bullet hadn’t made it in, but it had grazed his shoulder, leaving the skin and muscle torn visibly – Mōtoko had to look away. He hissed as he dressed his wound, taking time to steady himself against the counter before turning to Mōtoko. “And you,” he said, a laugh bubbling in his throat. “It’s you they’re after.”

Mōtoko assumed that he was in shock. The man was starting to go crazy on her, and if he wasn’t freaky enough, this took the cake. “Dr. Archer?” she squeaked. He briskly walked to her and grabbed her arm again, replacing his fingertips over her bruises there. “You’re going to have to come here, Mōtoko. I can’t let them have you just yet.” The crazed doctor yanked her back up and pulled her to the open cabinet. “I’m not quite finished with you yet.” His voice has calmed back to its professional tone, but his body still trembled. He must have never been shot before. Would I act the same way if I’d been the one shot?

Before she could muse anymore, Dr. Archer pulled something from the cabinet. It was another syringe, and out of his discarded coat pocket he retrieved a label-less brown bottle. “No, Dr. Archer, please,” she moaned, sick and tired of the needles permeating her skin. “You need this,” he insisted, stabbing the needle into the inside of Mōtoko’s elbow. The liquid rushed through her veins, burning the inside of her. “Ah! What is this?” she screamed, falling to the ground in painful convulsions.

“The pain will abide shortly,” Dr. Archer reassured her, patting back her hair as if she were his daughter, and not an abused human being that he treated like a lab rat. He locked up the cabinet again, but not before pulling out a gun for himself. He looked to the door. “Too bad they aren’t my patients,” he whispered to himself; she didn’t want to know what he meant by it. He treated her as a reasonable, conscious being, but he spoke of all of them as if they were lower than dogs. As if they were just tools to be used at their leisure. Mōtoko was filled with anger, but the pain surging in her veins snuffed out her words and brought tears to her eyes.

“You’ll join them soon,” he spoke before opening another door that Mōtoko hadn’t spotted. “Remember our exercises. Don’t be afraid to use your power.” Mōtoko might have taken his words to heart if she didn’t detect the greed and selfish pride behind them. As her vision blurred, he disappeared, and although she was still racked with pain, her spasming muscles started going limp.

Before she passed out, she head the mechanical lock to the door they’d entered in open.

User ImageFrom his place in the vent, Tony helped the ladies up, though Lux was the last of them, rather than the last of all, the way she'd evidently hoped to be. It was hard to believe that they were finally getting out of there? The sunshine could be seen out through the top of the shaft, and the thought that they were that close to freedom, it was great. ...explain myself just as much... And it was back, the swarm of voices, only a couple of words sticking out for a couple of words, nothing quite coherent-- though Tony would've felt guilty if anything were.

Like eavesdropping.

I used to be like that. It came down to the last few. Jay and Erik still at the bottom. He doubted that a hand up from him would help much, they would be expected to way considerably more than the others. You're supposed to be one of the level-headed ones. The harshness of Lux's tone caused Tony to look up, surprised. Nothing unusual then, but what was being planned, now? Sometimes, as secretive as she was, Tony had to wonder if she was really on their side.

Jay was up, and all that was left was Erik. Tony was about to look down at him to wait for some suggestion of any help he might need, when Erik was calling up to him. Tony was about to try anything to keep him from doing anything stupid, they were all in it to get out alive, weren't they? But the doors were being torn open, and he had no choice but to retreat. "Don't get yourself killed." He returned to Erik, and though it was probably the nicest thing he'd said in a while, it was his usual cold tone of voice that almost made it sound like a warning.

He moved the tile silently back into the place and followed the others up, only to hear Lux saying that she was leaving. Her, too? Why did everyone all of a sudden have a death wish? The others didn't seem so worried, so Tony could only keep moving, the sunlight was blinding after the long moments in the dark. Tony squinted past it, glancing down at himself to see that the white was stained with the dark spots of the dirt from the shaft, and blood that might have been his. He could hear the crashing of waves. Not only was it a long plummet off of the building and to the ground, but also off of something akin to a cliff, though it probably wasn't so large as to be called one. It was dizzying, the heights, but even death was better than staying here. Tony looked over at the others, it was this or nothing. "Ready?" He asked, though he doubted that any of them were, he certainly wasn't.

Tony had never had a fear of heights, but this wasn't heights, this was something else. This looked like they were staring death right in the face, and by the looks of things, they'd all flinched. Tony almost wanted to wait for some confirmations from the others, the two they had left behind, to know that they were still alive. But there wasn't much time to waste. He surely didn't want to be the first one to dive in, though it wouldn't have mattered who jumped first. They were all going to survive, or they were all going to die. None of them could afford to mess up, so Tony was sure they wouldn't.

Maybe it was a bad idea, nearly anyone would argue that it was stupid, but Tony did it anyway-- maybe he was stupid, in which case, it was a perfect match. Tony took a couple steps back from the edge, he took in a deep breath of the salty sea air. And then, he ran. He rocketed faster than he'd ever remembered being able to run and jumped off of the edge, leaping off of it to propel himself as far from the building as he could. It was a long drop, and he had no doubt that he'd have enough to straighten himself out.

The water was cool, nothing compared to the cold of the inside of that white-washed hell. Tony broke surface, and looked through eyes burning with salt water. What they needed was land, something that wouldn't be hard to climb back up. Something far from the building, preferably populated. Wouldn't they look weird, climbing out of the ocean like drowned rats dressed in white? Tony looked up at the building, and the people there were only dots from the water where he was. He waved, as if he could think of no other way to signal that the impact had not killed him.

User ImageNo, the guy was definitely a doctor, and it looked like Lux had gotten him, some bitter part of him wished she'd hit something vital. The girl he was dragging behind her, she was yelling at Lux not to shoot. The girl didn't know how good of a shot she actually was, hell, Lux hadn't known until only a couple of minutes ago. The white on white was a little bit disorienting, after all of that black. This was a place of polar opposites, it seemed, and she didn't like it a bit. Lux moved fast, turning the same corners as the doctor before she came to a door. The handle wouldn't budge, it was almost definitely locked. Numbers ran across her vision, what the handle was likely made of and the statistics relating to that. Chance of ricochet, chance of shooting herself in case of ricochet. Was it worth it? Lux didn't understand a bit of the numbers, she was getting used to them, and they were starting to clearly mean something to her, but it still felt like she was drawing conclusions from the air. She needed to find another way around.

She pressed her ear to the door, she could hear voices-- a voice on the other side, cursing. Yeah, she'd shot him, definitely. There was a loud, hollow click as the lock disengaged, and Lux swung open the door faster than she realized what she was doing. The girl was on the floor, her arm exposed where it looked as if she'd been injected with something. The girl was out cold. ********, this didn't get any easier. Lux thumbed the safety on the gun and tucked it into the strong elastic of her scrubs. She wish she hadn't been burdened with it, but it was better than being killed.

Lux wasn't sure what she was going to do. The girl needed to wake up, it would make everything infinitely easier for her. How was she going to jump off of the roof with an unconscious girl? That was probably not her biggest problem. Lux approached the girl, and lifted her carefully. Ordinarily, that would've been a problem for her, the girl certainly weighed
User Imagemore than she would've expected, much much more-- what was she made of bricks? But Lux handled that weight easily, in fact, the ease was frightening.

The stream of numbers revisited, checking every visible vital that seemed possible. Breathing, normal-- slow, even, that of someone sleeping. Lux got a little turned around, but it was easy enough to follow the marring of the walls back to the elevator shaft, the door tightly sealed and she wasn't going to be able to open it, much less was she going to be able to carry the girl up the shaft. She had to find stairs. Lux's steps brought her not far at all where she found a long stair case, probably in case of a fire, or something.

Lux moved fast up them, but that didn't even touch the fact that she had to climb five stories to get to the roof, she almost hoped that the group had left without her, jumped off the roof and were waiting someplace at least vaguely safe. That would mean that no one had to see her panic, and the terror that accompanied water. Her steps sounded heavy on the staircase, and they echoed through the empty case. She wondered where the soldiers were, but she almost didn't want to know.

The walls weren't soundproof, but maybe they should've been. Somewhere, she could hear gunfire, and she wondered what from, she could only hope for the best. Lux's shoulder hit the door and she didn't stop moving until she was on the roof, the door blown open behind her, she was breathing hard from the run. How long had it been since she'd had a proper exercise? Nine months, at least, plus whatever time she'd been asleep in that white room. After all, running was not approved when you were pregnant, and early in her pregnancy school had made it so that her daily jogs were the last thing on her mind.

User ImageIt appeared that everyone was there (minus Erik), and Lux had arrived just in time to see Tony jump. Every bit of self control she had snapped at that very second, and she took three quick steps toward the edge, a look of horror on her face. Every synapse longing to scream "no" at him, telling her to stop him, do something. Lux closed her eyes before widespread terror could get its awful hold on her, she breathed in-- count, slowly.

How delighted would Doctor Harris be that she was actually using his breathing techniques? Especially when she had so defiantly refused them in the past. She had to get a hold of herself, if she wasn't calm, she wasn't going to survive, that was what she told herself, forcing from her the terror that had momentarily caught hold of her. She felt somewhat defeated, like someone who'd nearly lost control, come so close that even succeeding in retrieving it meant no victory. Lux let the others go, decide what they were to do. For once, she had no opinion on their actions, all she wanted was to get away from the water, but obviously that was not an option.

[OOC: I was only trying to speed things along, if you'd anything changed, Yorda, lemme know and I'd be happy to do so.]

Anisa___Jay___Conner
"I may be small, but my looks will knock you out."

Ani couldn't believe it, they really were near the ocean. Once everyone was up, she took a deep breath of the salted air as the wind blew in her hair. It felt so good to be outside, she didn't think she would ever miss the outside as much as she did at that moment. Looking around, she watched as Tony looked over the edge as if sizing up the ocean. She tried to look for Erik, but she couldn't find him. She couldn't see Lux either. Suddenly Tony went running before jumping right off the roof. Watching with wide eyes, she ran to the edge and watched as he fell into the water the way Lux told them too. Holding her breath, she waited until she saw Tony resurface before letting her breath out. “Geeze, this is crazy.” She said to herself before looking over at Elizabelle. “Want to go together?” She asked.

Suddenly, Ani remembered that Lux and Erik hadn't come out yet. Looking over at the hatch, she walked over and then leaned back over the hatch and stuck her head in, sending her legs to hang up above her head. Looking into the now lit elevator shaft, she couldn't see either of them. “Erik! Lux!” She called out. Then she heard a loud bang. “Oh god.” She said under her breath in fear. Pushing herself up, she looked over at Elizabelle. “We can't just leave them here, can we?” She asked in a concerned tone. Lux was right behind them wasn't she? Did she change her mind? Looking back down, she heard another loud bang. What about Erik? She couldn't see him well in the elevator, but if he went through the same thing everyone else did then he wasn't in good shape either. “Erik!” She called back before looking back at Elizabelle with a deeply concerned face. “We have to go, don't we?” She asked with a pain in her heart.

She didn't feel comfortable leaving Lux and Erik alone, but they made the choice to stay, didn't they? Looking down, she closed her eyes and took a deep breath. “Okay, okay. Sorry, let's go. If we can get out then maybe we can people to help us get them out.” She said trying to encourage herself more then anyone else. Moving her hands in fists, she looked up at the clear morning sky. Walking up to the edge, she climbed up on top of it and looked down at the crashing waves. Looking over her shoulder at Elizabelle, she smiled. “I'll see you down there.” She said before jumping forward. All she could hear while going down was the sound of wind rushing past her. Her long hair flown back sharply as her body made it's way down. Straightening herself out, she felt her legs hit the water first before her whole body was engulfed with it. She kept her eyes close, but could imagine her body looking quite small in the large body of water. Pushing her way up to the surface, she gasped for air while running her fingers through her hair to move her hair out of the way. Opening her eyes, she looked over at Tony and smiled weakly over at him. “Where to, Captain?” She asked over the crashing of the ways in the background.

❝Twenty-one | Female | Lizzy, Liz, Elle, Annie ❞

The icy, fresh air made Elizabelle gasp due to what seemed like starvation from fresh air in the dingy and secluded building. Their previous living conditions were anything but reasonable so it was nice to feel something that was familiar, something that was alive. There was always action in the scientists maze but never was there life and normalcy. The machines beeped, buzzed, alarmed and updated, but never did they warm --which is exactly what the wind was doing even though the air was arctic cold. Feeling something tangible was what produced the warm feeling that radiated from the inside, out.

It was then that she saw Tony running for the edge and her heart froze, the warmth draining from her body. She ran to the edge and watched as his body hit the waves with a crashing force. Not once had she taken the moment to size up the possibility of survival from such a drop and worry was nagging at her insides. Seconds passed, and there was no Tony. The brunette began preparing herself and letting her muscles loosen. She had seen professionals dive off of cliffs before on television so surely this couldn't be a problem, right? Wrong. Her body wasn't trained to handle something like this and it wouldn't be easy for her. The downfall of her power was that she couldn't imitate the strength people needed to have in order to deal with such jumps. Not to mention, her broken arm.

Elizabelle had nearly forgotten about the bloody sling that trapped her one arm. Jayden had kindly given her the shirt off of his back but it was severely slowing her down. Ms.Mordant wondered whether or not he had the right qualifications to come to a conclusion of what she should do with the dead weight of an arm. He was the one that had the most suggestions out of everyone, so maybe he did have more knowledge than the rest? Either way, Elizabelle knew that it would hinder her. Was there really any way past it?

These thoughts rushed to the surface in the seconds that it took Tony to do the same. A sigh tickled her lips with relief but before she could dwell for too long on the feeling, Ani spoke up. "Geez, this is crazy. Want to go together?" Elizabelle couldn't help but smile because of this. For some reason unbeknownst to her, the small brunette had seen something in Lizzy that the others hadn't, why else would she be friendly with her? Perhaps it was because Ani was the only one who truly saw the potential that Elizabelle had. The rest of them have only seen me angry or violent. No wonder they think so little of me. In all honesty, the girl had been thinking little of herself, not to mention everyone else.

She really did contradict herself too much for comfort.

The brunette went to speak up after placing a smile on her face towards Ani, but she seemed preoccupied with looking over the hatch. Her words hit Elizabelle's ears, making the brunette question her own judgement --She hadn't even realized the others were not behind them. Becoming more observant with the help of Ani, Elizabelle took her place beside the girl at the hatch and watched as the girl bantered around ideas. First she wanted to help and then she was jumping off of the cliff after Tony.

Blinking back the confusion in her face, Elizabelle looked down into the darkness of the hatch and tried to make out shapes below. Just as she did so, the roof door flung open, propelling her heart into her throat. Terror crossed her eyes as she prepared herself for the worst which would most likely be a scientist or soldier. The blonde locks that belonged to the familiar girl made her heart nestle back into its normal spot in the ribcage. She couldn't help but smile with ease even though Lux looked nearly terrified.

Terrified?

This caught Elizabelle off-guard. Lux was never terrified --it seemed to be in her genetics to be brave and calculating. The Lux she was seeing before her was scared, genuinely scared. Elizabelle stripped all of the impressions she had of the girl clean as if they were a white-board. Raising to her knees, she walked towards the girl and realized that there was long, black strands of hair that should not have been in such close proximity to Lux. Picking up her pace, she soon came to realize that Lux had yet another one of them in tow but this one looked to be unresponsive at the moment.

"Lux," Her voice was somehow remained firm but soft, "I know you're scared, I can see it on your face. But please, you have to get over this. Right now, it isn't only about your fear but it's also about this girl's life. If we don't get out of here right now, you'll be regretting it more than the regret you'll feel on the jump down." She hoped that her words made some sense to the blonde. Elizabelle could have easily been making an a** out of herself, but she figured that the blonde had some fear of either heights, water or both.

Elizabelle bit her lip and chose what she thought was best at the moment which was taking off the brace that was holding her back. She knew that Jayden had meant well, but it was hindering her. Immediately as she put too much pressure on her arm, it screamed in protest. She grimaced but tossed the shirt to the side and gingerly took the girl from Lux. Being as direct as possible, she tried describing the situation, "For some reason I can mimick actions that I have seen. My body performs them perfectly. Now, I have seen professionals dive off of cliffs similar to this before so I'm going to dive with the girl. No offense, but you don't seem like you're in any shape to swim with her. I don't know why and I don't need to know right now." Elizabelle secured the girl who was heavy with unconsciousness in her arms and motioned for Lux to move towards the edge. "Lux, you're going to jump first, okay? I want to make sure you go through with it. Don't trouble me with excuses, just go."

It might have been a bit of pressure on the blonde, but at the moment, Elizabelle felt that maybe a bit of pressure was best.

The girls were out. Which meant it was Jayden's turn. And although he would have gone last if he could, he was injured and relying on one arm right now; so there wasn't much choice but to go next. Yet, it wasn't fair to use Erik like a backup, in the off chance he couldn't lift himself - and like hell he was going to use help from Tony. First, he would at least try. He was a man, and to help prove that, he would do the job of lifting himself out of the car.

Erik started apologizing about earlier.
"Look, no worries. I have as little clue about what's going on with me being a chick, or about why we're all here, as anyone." He told the other as truthfully as he could. And it was the truth. If he could figure out how to be a guy again, you would think he would have tried, instead of having to explain the strangeness to the others.

The male took a glance up at the hole in the elevator car. The space was illuminated by whatever light was shinning down into the shaft. It was a bit of a difference compared to the darkness that had enveloped them all inside the compartment earlier.

He had to wonder exactly how he was going to do this. Jayden's height right now, tho slightly taller then the average female, was still shorter then what he was used to. And even if he could jump up and grab the top of the car, he wasn't going to be able to pull himself up with just one arm.

It was worth a try though, right? And his arm couldn't possibly hurt any worse....

Standing directly under the hole, Jayden crouched a little, then used his whole body to send himself upwards. His free hand grabbed hold of the edge, and with all of his strength, he began pulling himself up -- with a surprising ease. It was actually a little startling, but he did it.

When he was high enough, he kicked a leg up and used his knee to do the work his left right arm currently couldn't. When he was clear and on top of the car, he took a quick breather. Then he was up again, and following the others up the cable - again with awkward difficulty. Without a tought, Jayden didn't take Erik into consideration. Tony was the last one to start climbing up, but Jayden just assumed that Erik was following right behind.

Actually, if anything he was more concerned with Lux, who he had seen sneak off onto another floor. He wondered if anyone else had seen that? But then again, would anyone else follow her?

She seemed to be doing her own thing, and had been acting like that since he had met her. Though, this little act caused him to wonder if the girl truly was on their side. It was like she knew things no one else did. Especially about the water on the outside of the building. When had she learned about that? And, what else did she know about?

What ever it was that she wasn't telling, this was where Jayden hardened his disposition. He was going to make sure that the others got out and back home. They were this close, there was no turning back, or going down now.

Clearing the opening at the top, he followed the others to the edge of the building. He wondered exactly how many stories up they were. Going by what his eyes were telling him, it was definitely over twenty. Which was enough, in his mind. Did Lux say that they should jump earlier? Was she nuts.

So that meant the choices were either, jump to your death, or get shot to death. Greeeeaaaatttt.....

All of a sudden from no where, Tony appeared and disappeared in the corner of Jayden's vision. The guy had literally just jumped off of the building. Was he nuts!? But then again, maybe he had considered the same options Jayden had, and picked the less painful. A fall from this height meant sudden death, and it was a lot better then being shot full of holes -- he already had one, and he really wasn't content with being Swiss cheese.

Looking down at the ocean waters, the not so current boy watched for any sign that the other male had made his descent safely. That was about when he realized he was holding his breath, and only when Tony began waving from when he had broken surface did he let it out again.

So, it was possible to do this and stay alive after all....

He looked over at the others, he looked just as relieved as they were, and noticed Lux back in the group, holding with ease, another girl. What was that about. He pondered this only seconds before that other girl, the one Liz had found, joined Tony in the water down below.

Her dreams were blurred as if she viewed them through a foggy glass window. Can you even have dreams when you pass out? she distantly wondered. A fuzzy girl with blonde hair took center in all of them: walking through a building, holding hands with another blurred-out person, standing in a room with a paint brush in her hand. Who is this? she wanted to say, but her mouth felt as if it were stuffed with cotton. There she was again: in a hospital, on a couch, laughing. Then blackness. A vision of the girl chained to something, another person, a struggle. Then, out of nowhere, Kumiko surfaced in the vision, her bright smile cutting through Mōtoko’s heart. All the faces blurred into one another before Mōtoko felt a cold slap to her face, and something pressed her from all sides, holding her. Instantly she woke up, screaming. “No! Don’t touch me!” Without opening her eyes, she struggled and fought against whatever was holding her, not wanting Dr. Archer to get ahold of her again, and more importantly, not wanting to touch him. The last thing she wanted to do was to see his past -- she couldn’t go through anymore trauma without going crazy herself. She broke free of whatever held her, falling face-first onto a hard, concrete ground. Getting ahold of herself, she shook the hair from around her and looked up.

Although her vision was just coming back, it was easy to see that she was on a roof. Mōtoko wondered briefly how she had gotten there until she spotted the blond girl standing about five feet away. “You!” she pointed, forgetting her manners at that moment. Another girl sat on the edge of her peripheral vision, and she turned to spy the other dark-haired girl next to her, nursing a wound on her arm; she was the one who had been holding her. “And you!” Seeing the wound, Mōtoko leaped up. “Oh no, did I do that? I’m so sorry!” she exclaimed, a rush of shame flooding her cheeks. Looking down at her bare, scratched-up feet, she folded her hands behind her back. “I thought you were him… or another doctor.” At the ‘him’ comment, the blonde looked up questioningly. “Yes. The man with me before, his name is Dr. Archer. He’s the one who woke me up.” More or less.

As she noticed her surroundings, her previous warnings and thoughts flooded her mind. “Oh! Umm…” Mōtoko looked at the blonde, wanting to address her without being rude, but not wanting to waste anymore time. Lux… the name floated to the surface of her mind, uttered by that blurred male she’d seen hand-in-hand with the girl in her dreams. “Lux,” she mimicked, trying to ignore the girl’s look of surprise as she uttered her name. “My name is Chīsuzume Mōtoko. I know that you’re probably wondering how I know your name, but I don’t have time to explain. Dr. Archer told me a lot of things… things that you all should hear. But most importantly, you have to know that this is a trap.” She took a deep breath, seeing that there was no one else on the roof, she continued. “There isn’t a direct way out of here. At least, not that I know of yet. But Dr. Archer told me that this is a set-up. And so far,” she thought about her strange power and flinched. “Everything he’s told me has been true, more or less.” She spotted the dark-haired girl looking at her suspiciously. “I know that I seem suspicious, but please believe me! You risked your life to save me. The least I can do is try to do the same for you.” Although she had never met the girls before, she felt a strange connection to them ever since she had seen them in her earlier vision. Summoning up the little bit of courage she had, she stood a little straighter. “So you can make your choice, but I’m not going over the edge with you. And… I don’t want you to go, either.”

((No, it’s fine, Mentis. Changes force me to think a bit more about Mōtoko’s next actions, which is part of the fun. ;D))
