ΞSarus Satetsu Ξ "Life's a game; You just gotta know how to play."
Sarus walked up to the crevice of Sunagakure. He flashed his Suna headband and was let through by the guards. Sarus made his way into the vilage with his white cloak covering his head.

Anon arrived discreetly and entered, showing the guards his headband and returning to the Kage's office, taking care not to be seen.

Bast arrived at the Gates after a short trek across the Village. She leaned against a nearby tree and set her gourds down on the ground in order to more fully enjoy the nice breeze of the afternoon day. She watched the Gates as several Genin approached, each happy and filled with hopes for his or her new rank. They were still Genin, though, and not Chuunin.

San had finally made it too Suna again and he was happy to be back home. As he approached the entrance he flashed his head band to the ANBU guards then saw Bast sensei by the tree. He quickly made his way over to her, hoping to let he know that he had made it back.
"bast sensei! The exams are over!"

Bast waved to San as he came running up. She did not, however, rise to greet him, and it seemed that she was still plagued by the post-sleep fog that affects so many minds after a good night's rest.
"How were the Exams?" she asked. "Did you bring the materials I asked for?"
Always short and blunt about her motives, at least when sleepy, the tone in Bast's voice changed very little between the two questions.

San reached his hands into his burden golem and began pulling rock after rock, slab of metal after slab of metal out of it. Before the great sensei was a vast an rather impressive display of materials. San could only offer a huge smile as he finished the delivery.
"here it is sensei. i grabbed about as much as i could! is this enough?"
He let the sentence drift off as he shuffled his feet slowly. Talking to Bast sensei was slightly nerve raking, but San bucked it up anywats.
"I did very well in the exams. I went undefeated in my matches too. I have a scroll that says i get promoted to chunnin....."

Bast watched as the boy pulled out the mass of materials from a bag that was definitely too small to hold all of the items involved. Once the load was before her, the woman inspected a few random samples and nodded to herself silently.
"Wonderful!" she said with a slight smile. She snapped her fingers and her masked golem, Mononoke, and the shape-shifting golem known as Maimakterion showed up almost immediately. The two quickly transported the materials back to Bast's warehouse, freeing her to observe the boy.
"Did you, now?" she asked. "I suppose that's better than nothing, but I did hear that they promoted absolutely everyone that participated. That cheapens the deal, you know?"
Bast flicked her ankle and moved one of the gourds around in front of her.
"But, I suppose you did do a good job, so I'll give you a prize. Pick a gourd: black, gray, or white," she commanded, the three appropriately-colored gourds on the ground around her.

San's attitude shifted slightly to her comment about the promotions. He knew his promotion was a joke. They had forced him to fight a friend and hurt him in ways he had never wanted to only to find out that everyone got promoted anyway. It made him sick to his stomach. But hiding that emotion and surpressing it, San answered the sensei with a smile.
"black....."

Bast blinked, and it almost looked like she flinched. She flicked off the top for the black gourd and kicked it over. It fell with a thud and nothing spilled out.
"Do you know what you just won?" she asked the boy. "You just won free access to my library and study, you know that? The best damn library in the country, at the very least, and world-class in the realms of sealing and the sciences. Nobody ever picks black out here, that was thoroughly unexpected."
The woman, with another flick of her heel, propped the black gourd back up and corked it.
"You could have gotten specialized training or a free item from my shop, but no, you just had to pick my library, you little punk," she murmured, slinging the black gourd across her back once more.

San just kept blinking. He....did.....what.....? It was unbelievable! He really could have just made the absolute greatest choice of all time. HE had access to all of......he couldn't even think the words he was so excited. The now chunnin tried his very best to maintain his composure to at least thank the Sensei.
"wow....Thank you very much Sensei. That...um....means alot. I mean...really means alot. I will make great use of it. But...um...is it at your estate sensei?"

Bast nodded, a slight air of regretful thought around her. She seemed very put-out at this situation, but also seemed to have come to terms with it almost immediately.
"Yes; I'll take you there later. If you ruin any of my books, you're either going to replace it or you're going to die, got it?" the woman responded. "Don't go to my land ahead of me, understood? You might get eaten if you're not careful, and a newly-minted Chuunin like yourself is still bony enough to look like a snack. Before you ask, I'm going to tell you that yes, the things on my property warrant having such security."
Bast reached to her hip and unfastened her flask. She uncapped it and took a quick drink of the water inside before returning it to its original place. She screwed the cap back on and leaned against the tree.
"Naturally, that includes using me as a private tutor on any of the materials in that library, since I wrote at least half of the more useful manuals in there."

San now realized what was going on. He really was the luckiest chunnin inall of Suna. First six sensei, now Bast sensei as teachers.....wow. With this level of instruction he could easily climb the ranks and be an effective part of his village. It woul all be a dream come true, and all because of the strongest in Suna cared for the next generation.
He had heard stories abou Bast sensei, which he now knew as truth. Six sensei was strong, but was still personable and relaxed. Bast sensei....was just plane scary. [She had abilities and was not afraid to use it. The fact she even wanted to tke him under her wing....was an honor and a privaledge all on its own. Getting an intense look and narrowed eyes San spoke his ords. Hopefully......she would take him seriously/
"Bast sensei....i submit myself to your teachings. Please make me your student.....I will not give up...."/b]

Bast looked at San curiously as the fog began to lift from her mind; the water had done its job in waking her up at long last. She patted him on the head and smiled now that she was able to think clearly.
"Lighten up!" she said, her voice light and airy. "This isn't the end of the world, you know. You may start to wish that it were after my tutoring sessions, but that's beside the point. I would have recommended talking with Howaido about my training methods, but he would present a skewed perspective on things and you wouldn't really get much out of it. Plus, I've never actually trained him."
The woman stretched with a smile and sat the black gourd down again. In one swift movement, the woman jumped up and grabbed on to a branch of the tree. She swung up on to it and sat there, relaxing in the shade.
"So, how did you learn Gunsei, my Kaninchen?" she asked, plucking a leaf off of an overhead branch as she did so.
((Writer's note: "Kaninchen" is the German word for "Bunny", as in the small house pet.))

Sans expression returned back to his light hearted self. So...She could also be fun too....It seemed like all the Suna ninja had multiple sides to them. It was interesting to see....
"I know sensei. But i feel that your training will only help in also making me tougher too! Gunsei? well....Six Sensei taught it too because she felt i could use it to not only improve and empower myself, but also my village. Or she just feli like it...i really dont know."
San smile got bigger as he spoke his last sentence. He LOVED the gunsei technique and was finding the thousands of uses for it. Six sensei did also say that Bast sensei was related to the Kazekage himself. Did they just let him in on a familt based thing that easily? If so....then San COULDNT let them down.....

The woman swung and fell backward, but hooked her foot around a branch nearby hers. She stared in to San's eyes as she hung upside-down from the tree.
"Did he now?" Bast asked, suddenly more serious again. "That b*****d, I was wondering why you knew it. So, how do you like my technique? You haven't told anyone else about it, have you?"
Her voice seemed to go circle around the airiness it had before and the seriousness of her first sentence as soon as she asked San about his opinions.
"You know, I kept it a familial secret for a reason. We can't have people making pockets of inconsistencies all willy-nilly, as it might throw off the alignment of the Universe ever so slightly. I don't like the prospect of having to live my ridiculous life in the darkness, so don't teach it to an idiot," the woman said, her voice just slightly closer to serious than airy. "Got it?"
