"Thank you." She emerged from Mau's bathroom, in her baggy blue stained pajamas. Her hair had turned into a mop on her head. The good thing was, most of the product had washed out. There were only hints of blue now, easily mixing into her dark mane. She dried her hair thoroughly putting the towel over her shoulders. "That was refreshing."

Her face had a bit more color to it and her eyes weren't so puffy. She smiled awkwardly, standing in front of the bathroom door. It warmed her heart that Mau still had the toy she made him. "I'm really sorry for barging in on you like this."

Mau looked up at her over the rim of his glasses. "It's alright." He tucked the papers into the book and closed it. "You seemed pretty upset when you ran in here... What's wrong?" He asked before standing up.

"I was just a bad dream." A horrible dream. She shrugged. It had been a something deep rooted in her mind. "There's nothing much to say." She twiddled her fingers absentmindedly. "But can I stay here for a while." She picked up the blue stained towel off the floor, hoping it hadn't stained.

He shrugged. "Don't see why not." He was about to offer her a place to sit, but there was only his bed. "Make yourself comfortable." He reached out for the towel. He'd hang it up till she was ready to leave. Or toss it in with the laundry. Whatever, he didn't really care. "So... what was this dream about?"

Cal handed Mau the towel, sitting on his bed a ways from him looking down at her knees. What was really the point in telling him what the nightmare was about? She hadn't talked about it in a long time. He father probably didn't know about her deep rooted pains.

A few moments passed; moments that felt more like hours. "I was about my mom." She finally breathed out through her teeth. "She left when I was young." Her eyes remained downcast, focused on the floor.

Mau hung the towel over the curtain rod in the bathroom, not really knowing where else to put it. That was as good a place as any really, before coming back out and looking at Cal as she mentioned her mother.

"You had a dream about your mother?" He moved back to the bed and sat down. Aki looked at them with an irritated look of 'Why are you still moving around? This is sleep time.' But Mau ignored him, making the vaporeon sigh and curl around the plushie. "Tell me about it."

"Um..." she bit her lip in thought. This was like some sort of therapy session. "I went to find her, during heavy snow." She recalled the dream mixed in with the blurred reality. "And I didn't bring anything with me, or tell anyone where I was going." It was no wonder the girl got lost. "I wondered around for hours in that hell-" He voice began to crack, "I couldn't find her, I never did. I almost died. And that's when I woke up."

She sighed, wiping a tear from her eye. "But, it's just a silly nightmare."

Mau frowned slightly. "What happened to your mother?" Dreams stemmed from somewhere. And honestly, he knew surprisingly little about Cal. Though, that was a two way street, and the girl probably knew little about him as well.

"You might as well tell me everything."

Cal turned and looked at Mau. Was he really asking about her past? "That dreams pretty much the reality." She sighed, "My mother left when I was 4, my father was distraught." She smiled a sad smile, remembering her father fondly. "He never looked at me the same, so I thought that I could find her." She held back stray tears, "But I was lost for a few days. The only reason I'm here right now, alive, was because of my father's Growlith."

Her bond with her father was never the same, he would shun her and shut her out of his life. Probably because of how similar she was to her mother. Cal scratched her head at the awkward silence that followed. "And that's pretty much it!" She forced a smile to Mau, eyes slightly watering.

Mau sighed, reaching up and ruffling Cal's hair slightly. "You don't hide your sadness very well." He let his hand fall from her head and he folded his hands in his lap. "Were you close to your parents before your mother went missing?" He wanted to ask just how she had gone missing... but perhaps that would be pushing it.

She turned away from him. "I remember that we were the model family." It was great the few things she did remember from that time. It all hit her at once. The strain from the day had worn her thin and she broke down. She turned back to Mau and reached out in a pleading grasp. "I'm sorry..." She embraced Mau with shaking arms. "I'm really sorry." She whispered through her sobs as she held onto Mau's bare chest. If she hadn't been crying, she would have rather enjoyed the moment to the fullest.

He sighed as soon as Cal clung to him. He put a hand on hers and gave it a reassuring squeeze before pulling her hands away from him. He turned to face her fully. "Don't be sorry."

Her stomach dropped. Her face fell into a pale shadow of her former self. It was as if Mau was rejecting her by pulling her away. The little contact he gave her felt empty. Her hands shot up to her face as she turned away from Mau who now was facing her. "Thank you Mau...." She voice felt cold as the snow she almost died in. "You've made me feel a bit better." On the contrary, now she was feeling worse. Cal was in a deeper hole than she had started in.

He let go of her hands slowly and looked away from her. he rested his back against the wall, staring off at his berry plants. "Cal, you're a pretty bad liar." He pulled his glasses off an rubbed his face in exasperation. "I've never been good with things relating to family." He said, as if letting her in on some sort of secret.

"Thanks..." Mau really was telling the truth about not being good with family things. There was no way to hide it, she was more embarrassed now than anything. She had showed him apart of her weaker side and she felt that she wasn't adequately comforted.

Cal held a shaking hand to her temple, tears all dried up but eyes still a tale tell red. "I think I'm done talking about this." Her voice still cracked from crying for so long. She turned to Mau, her smile more sincere, "Thanks for listening to me whine." The distance between them had grown since their hug. "It was nice to get this off my chest."
