Dragonfly couldn't help but giggle at Syrenrei's confusion. It amused her.

"Aerandir," she repeated, smiling fondly at Iniko, "They're... Well, I'm not claiming to know much about them, but what I do know is that they were once the main species living on this island -- and now we're reviving them... We being the other Aerandir guardians... Uhm... Well, they start out as artifacts -- fur and feather y'see, and then the items bond. I don't know much about how it happens, but after they've bonded, with a bouncing ball of light they become... Gryphons. At least that's how Iniko came about anyway..."

She petted Iniko's head thoughtfully, wondering how crazy she must've sounded, before letting out a soft laugh.

"I don't really understand it, but it's how Iniko came about, and it's the best explination I have to offer..."

Not that that made any more sense, really. To be revived they must have once existed naturally, and that was just... that was just nonsense. A heron and a raccoon having sex. This was taking "anything is possible too far."

She was content to believe that these were simply creations of a mad scientist. Yes... yes, that made much more sense. And maybe some magic.

"Is this as big as she'll grow or...?" She stared at the little gryphon now with some interest.. the same sort of a goth gets walking through suburbia.

Rahujo wandered into the centre in search of Alyosha. She hadn't seen him for over a week. Not that she was craving his company in particular - the tall Aerandir had always been somewhat ambivalent about socialisation, preferring the company of her hammer and anvil - but she'd asked him to bring her a new water stone from the mainland. With the run of blades she had embarked on last night, she suspected she might need it quite soon.

Entering the main room of the centre, she noticed two people standing chatting in the middle of the normally quiet circular room. One was a guardian she'd seen before (and to whom she'd given some bandages and salves - she made a mental note to call in on Acia to stock back up) while the other was an unfamiliar woman with strikingly white hair.

She stood quietly near the entrance for a few seconds, debating whether to engage in conversation, or to slip past into the safety of the corridor leading to Alyosha's apartments.

Well, she wasn't in any particular hurry, and she hadn't talked to any of the guardians for a while.

"Good afternoon," she said quietly, moving closer to the pair.

(( Ehm, I may not be around for several hours due to travelling home from Aly's place, but I promise I'll make it on later tonight! ^^; ))

(ok big post to cover whats gone on since my last ><)

15.02.05
Alyosha opened the door to his quarters, his head still feeling groggy from the night before. The Valentines party had knocked his wind out of him and his bleary eyes were not quite ready for the sight in front of him. Acia sat at the small living room table across from a young girl.

The girl looked about 7 or 8, and had a bright smile wide across her face. She had yellow hair which trailed off into red tips, large green eyes and little pink wings which sprung from her back. Alyosha stood for a moment, uncomprehending. Who was she and how had she gotten to the Island. He blinked in the light, wondering if he was still dreaming.

Acia suddenly noticed him, and sprung to her feet, handing him a note.

The Letter
Dear Alyosha and Acia,

I just wanted to wish you a very Happy Valentine's day, and I hope this Tahnee child brings love, joy, and company to your lives.

Sincerly,

Dragonfly

"She can stay, can't she?"
Both pairs of wide green eyes looked up to him with the most pathetic puppy-eyed look he had ever seen. Who could have refused them?
"Eh..well..er.." It was a strange choice for a valentines gift, but he guess DFly must have had good intentions, there must be a reason for the child being here.

"She's an orphan, she doesn't have her own home.." Acia said quietly, almost answering his thoughts directly. She was enthusiastic about this kid in a way Alyosha had never seen her outside of her studies. Perhaps the little Tahnee would be just the thing to help bring Acia out of her shell. Meanwhile Jorai was flitting about the room in quite a rampage, buoyed up by the good mood of the room.
Alyosha walked over and knelt down to the sitting child. "What's your name, hmm?" he said quietly.

"Alliea." she said, cheerily, a big grin across her face. "Ahh.. Alliea" he rolled the name around. Quite a mouthful. "Well, Alli" he said, hoping she didn't mind the contraction, "I don't mind you staying here... but we may have to squish you in beside Acia and Jorai for now until we find some more space"

They both nodded eagerly, scurrying upstairs when he told them it was time for sleep. Acia seemed so young, sometimes, even though she was an adult, that had worried Alyosha for a long time. Perhaps if she had to look after this child it would give her the responsibility she needed to grow up a little. He had babied her too much, he realised. Ahhhh but now wasn't the time to be reminiscing, he would have to make up some plans for extending his home. It had been on his mind for a while as he had been sleeping on the living room floor since Acia was born.

The rest of the week.
Alyosha had spent his time making plans. Whilst Alli and Acia got to know each other, he had been drafting up sketches for how he would extend his home. A feverish glint had come over his eyes and he had almost forgotten the events of the Valentines ball, forgotten what he had found out and what he had revealed. He rolled up his draft papers and rolled over on the rug, falling straight to sleep without covers or blankets.

20.02.05
Waking up early in the morning he realised he'd been dreaming of his conversation with Syrenrei. His dreams had been full of lurking monsters, older kitsune and savage pains across his back. Shivering, he sat upright, shaking off the remnants of the dream. Perhaps he should pen her a note later, she had given him her address afterall, it was somewhere about her.. on a scrap. He searched for it feverishly, finding it buried under a pile of paper.
He sat for a while, unsure what to write. In fact he didn't want to put pen to paper. He sat it down and got up, maybe stretching his legs would do him some good. He didn't know where Alli and Acia were, they'd taken to getting up and going out before he even woke, leaving him breakfast some days, random interesting stones and shells they'd found on others. It looked as though they might be quite the greusome twosome.

not ignoring Acia and Alli, what they've been up to will hopefully be in Acia's journal later this evening biggrin

eek Oh wow, now she had seen it all. Here was a tall, talking mix of some sort of bird and animal... talking! It made a little sense then (very little though) that these odd creatures might have once lived and that perhaps combining fur and feather in some outrageous lab experiment brought them back.

Her mind, however, was still reeling at the notion, and she was for once at a total loss of words. What did you say, after all, to someone who you were completely convinced could not exist on this plane of existance until just now? How could you so easily speak to someone you wanted to congratulate on their ability to speak at all.

Oh dear.

Dragonfly blinked a bit at Syrenrei's first question and replied, "Well... No. As far as I know--" she cut herself off though, when Rahujo walked in the room.

Dragonfly grinned to Rahujo, offering a wave from a no longer bandaged hand, and chuckled softly at Syrenrei's stunned appearance.

"Good afternoon to you too Rahujo," Dragonfly smiled, shifting Iniko's still tired form in her arms so that the gryphon was laying in the crook of her elbow.

Dragonfly took it upon herself to introduce the two to each other, as Syrenrei seemed quite stunned, and she knew both Rahujo and Syrenrei now. Maybe not as very close friends, but as friends none the less.

"Rahujo, this is Syrenrei," she began, grinning to Syrenrei as she glanced towards her, "Syrenrei, this is one of the full grown Aerandir, Rahujo,"

Rahujo gave a little bow to Syrenrei, slightly confused at her stunned expression. "Good afternoon, Syrenrei. I am Rahujo, the blacksmith of this village."

She turned to Dragonfly and thought for a second. "By any chance have you seen Alyosha?" she asked.
PostPosted: Sun Feb 20, 2005 4:09 pm

Why was -she- confused? From her cultural perspective, perhaps humans were the odd ones, but you would think that more guardians and guests would find this all confusing... unless she was the one insane. @_@;;; That made more sense. She was, after all, the one under the contract of a succubus and running around with his voice in her head killing people. One would naturally assume she'd be more insane.

"Alyosha... is the the man that was here last week with the long black hair?" What she really wanted to say was 'Is that the other hanyou?' but luckily, she thought better of it. Self-control was a very nice thing to have regained.

Dragonfly smiled to Rahujo and said, "I haven't seen Alyosha around, I'm afraid. Not since the Valentine's party, and even then -- only briefly,"

She turned her head to look at Syrenrei, and nodded, "Yes. Alyosha is the man with the long black hair," she grinned.
PostPosted: Sun Feb 20, 2005 5:30 pm

Why... why was she grinning like that? What was she thinking? Oh, bah! She didn't think of him like that. She wouldn't... hanyou or not, men all treated her like this incubus was going to: use and then dispose of. All of them running around and finding some higher purpose to chase after. Bastards.

So why was she here?

Ha! You're hopeless when you aren't offing someone. A sense of morals and cynical bitterness. The incubus mused aloud in her mind. Evidently this was better than a pay-per-view show for him.

"Hmm." Rahujo gave a brief nod to each woman, then strode off in the direction of Alyosha's apartments.

Alyosha opened his door and walked into the corridor connecting his rooms to the centre. He strode along it, walking into the brightness of the main room. He could see there were a few people around, Rahujo close to him, DFly and another over the other side of the room. The other... it was her. He blinked, shaking his head quickly.
Rahujo was looking at him, as if trying to gain his attention and he dragged it back to her.

PostPosted: Mon Feb 21, 2005 12:45 pm

Ahh... yes of course. "The trip was good, managed to get a lot of supplies. I left your water stone in the kitchen, alongside the boxes of dry foods. It's in a brown paper bag with, I think "Jamison's Supplies" on the label. It was the only place I could find one."

His eyes wandered over Rahujo's shoulders, towards Sy.

"You should be able to find it by yourself, Rahujo, yes?" he asked her, knowing she would have no problems.

"Many thanks. I started a new run of blades last night. A sturdy knife is a useful and dependable thing in this world - I thought perhaps some of the guardians would appreciate one."

Noticing Alyosha's distraction, she let him go and wandered towards the kitchen. Hmm ... ahh, there is is.

Tucking the paper-wrapped rectangle of rough stone into her cloth toolbelt, Rahujo turned to go.
