(( Okay! Notice:
From now on, all random class events shall be judged by dice roll. We're going to do an experiment for fairness. How will this work?
If I- (or any other instructor) instructs that the player roll a dice, please do so by using the action key. You may find this at the drop down menu. For my dice rolls, please roll ONE six sided dice.
(Note: I'll be posting a better message about this if this actually works out. >D You all are my guinea pigs-ER Students!!
Chart ------------- Success rate will be determined by a 1-6 scale.
1. Character has little success at the task, and probably fails. 2. Character has little success at the task, and might fail. 3. Character has some successs at the task, but may fail. 4. Character has success at task at an average level. 5. Character has good success at the task. 6. Character has exceptional success at the task.
Now; Let's say I roll this:
Farin rolls a six sided dice....5!
This would mean that for the orange excersize, Moth would be able to read the picture of the fruit very well.
Now, some people may say this isnt fair because it's random, SO! Here are some bonus points that you may use:
1. Green dragons= +3 for agility related tasks. 2. Blue dragons= +1 for agility related tasks; +2 for strength related tasks. 3. Brown dragons= +2 for memory tasks, +1 for strength tasks 4. Bronze= +3 for strength tasks, +1 for memory tasks. 5. Golds= +4 for memory tasks. -----------------------------------
This would mean that if your dragon rolls a low number, it's color will bump up the number depending on the event. For example:
Ring Toss-
Farin rolls a 2. Moth recieves 5 for +3 agility bonus.
THE NUMBERS PROBABLY WILL CHANGE. D: So, let me ponder this. I'm testing, remember. >D
So let's test this out- but feel free to add questions.
[Yes, this means you will post a message first to find your number, edit it, and place your new message in. Try not to make two posts. ] ))
Moth sends another image-
If your dragon's name begins with A-L; The picture is of a dark sky. If your dragon's name begins with M-Z; The picture is of the ocean.
Roll one six sided dice. Success rate is determined upon 1-6; + any bonus points your dragon may recieve for Memory.

(( Gawd, T'lon will never survive the Weyrling class with as forgetful I am. ))
T'lon was still lecturing himself by the time ran to meet everyone at the Weyrling lessons. He ran even faster just to catch up with the Weyrling who were already beginning to proceed down to the Weyr Bowl. The rest of the time was filled with activities that T'lon found interesting. It was better then being back at the Hold with a scroll of letters held up to your face. I would hope so mine... Malzirth said in an amused tone. His mother would lecture him on the importance of education whilst his father drilled it in his head that education wasn't a requirement if you were a Blacksmith.
He liked the game picking a certain colored ball and keeping it away from spying eyes. Although he couldn't say the same about Malzirth, who liked looking at the pictures rather then the colored balls. The brown stretched his wings out before turning to concentrate on the next exercise. At first Malzirth wasn't sure what the image was, it was green and plant like, but it had intricate designs on it. Mine, I think it's a... before finishing his sentence he sent the image of the fern.
He stood there concentrating as a blurred image entered his mind. Both dragonet and weyrling had to focus a moment longer before the image purified to reveal the fern. Oh, it's a fern! declared T'lon triumphantly. It was only moments before Moth sent further instructions. The next image was of the sparkling ocean, it's waves would be roaring as they rolled onto the beach. This time it didn't take as long as the last before T'lon saw the picture clear in his mind.
(( Hopefully I did this correctly. XD;
T'lon rolled a 4 and Malzirth (Brown dragon) +2 for memory tasks... = 6 ))

((Ugh, I'm so inactive. -shame- =__= I'm sorry again...now to see the number.))
The big one sends us another picture mine. Natroth's voice was excited, but in control. He liked this game, liked having J'riar do the work instead of him. J'riar nodded wearily, knowing he hadn't done so great with the fern image. Both Natroth's concentration, and his ability to figure things out needed to improve. "Okay Natroth...focus on the image okay? Don't let you mind wander." The little blue huffed a sigh, though would agree. It was hard just to focus on the image, and nothing else.
J'riar closed his eyes for a moment, feeling for his connection with Natroth. There it was. Hazel eyes slid open, and J'riar chewed at his lip for half a second. "...An ocean. The sea." A croon was his reward, and Natroth's eyes whirled in pleasure. Mine is clever. Mine guessed perfectly. I focused well. A relieved grin spread over the young man's face, and he leaned over to scratch at the blue's eyeridges. "You did; because of you, it wasn't hard this time." Ego swelling with this praise, the little blue crooned happily once more, then eagerly waited for more instructions.
The brunette sighed to himself, relieved that he had done all right this time. It was discouraging to not do well, but he learned that there was no point in mulling over the past. Especially when the future could be changed so simply, with a little hard work. Even though he hated hard work...

((*bellyslithers in* c.c <.<))
Fria had been standing as far apart as she could from the other weyrlings during the exercises. Today was the first day of her cycle--right on schedule--and she was not feeling like her sociable self in the least. Dmiath couldn't be made to understand that her rider wasn't sick or injured, nor--as much as she wanted to--could Fria just curl up in her bunk and sleep the ugly day away as her green seemed to think she should.
So, here they were instead, tossing balls around--an entirely useless exercise, the baker thought with unwonted sourness--and trading images with each other. Much to Fria's frustration--as much as she was usually patient with Dmiath's ditziness--the little green couldn't seem to stay on-task for more than thirty seconds at a time. And THAT was if they were lucky.
The orange image from Moth had just confused the little green. Hadn't they just finished the ball exercise? Why did she need to think about ANOTHER ball? Why couldn't she see it? Why why why why--
Fria pressed her fingers to her temples, pretty face screwing up with frustration. Hush, Mia! Just hush and listen to what the big green says!
That shut the dragonet up as the little green lapsed into a momentary agony of hurt and confusion. Are you mad at me? she finally asked, her mindvoice very small indeed. I don't want you to be mad at me, mine...
The baker-turned-weyrling let out a gusty sigh, nearly moved to tears by her lifemate's sudden wounded befuddlement. It was like kicking a puppy--and by no means was she MAD at the little dragon. No, dear heart, I'm not mad at you. I'm just short-tempered. Figuring Mia might not "get" the idea of a temper, or a lack of one, she added, I'm not feeling good. My stomach hurts.
This prompted a sympathetic warble from Dmiath, who'd all but forgotten the previous moment's upset. She took a wobbly step or two forward, before sitting down hard on her haunches as Moth sent along the image of a sky. The big green sends another picture! she declared. I'll think about it very hard...
No rest for the wicked, or the cramp-ridden. Fria closed her eyes again, letting out her breath in a gusty sigh and trying to reach back down her link to her lifemate. Indistinct and fuzzy dark shapes swirled dizzingly in and out of focus, studded with bits and drabs of light. Eventually, Dmiath seemed to settle on how to send the image she'd been given, and it began to take on a recognizable shape...
Or lack of one. "...a dark...the sky? Is it the night sky?" Fria groped for the answer aloud.
It is, it is! My Fria is so clever! Close enough for Dmiath's purposes, anyhow.

K'tir ran one hand through his hair nervously. He had figured out the image that Cronth had been showing him. Was it supposed to take long? Cronth had been better at reading from him. Can one fail at being a dragonrider?
You will always be my rider mine.
I know Cronth, and not even thread could keep me away from you. K'tir answered his dragon.
Here is the next one.
K'tir sighed again and concentrated. Slowly an image formed in his mind. Dark and shapeless, it made no sense to him. Then slowly small specks appeared. What could this be....
"The night sky...?" He tried to sound sure of his answer, even though he definitly wasn't.

Ready for the next one? L'mur asked, rather pleased with their former success. He reached out mentally, trying to find that tenuous connection that made the difference between simply hearing his dragon and receiving images.
I think so. Saranth filled her rider's mind with grey and green and blue and white, with a hint of movement. L'mur's brow creased. Why was the image so blurry? Where was the definition? They'd been so successful before... maybe he'd been too hasty, too sure of himself. Do you not see it? the little green asked, distressed. You saw it before... I'm sorry, love.
L'mur sighed, biting his lip. I can't tell what it is. Something grey and moving...

(( Ouch. What do we do if we fail miserably? Try again? Or just wait till the next picture? ))
Remia smiled, glad they seemed to be having such success, too. "I'm sure you both got it right. There were more than one color ball, there are sure to be more than one image the dragonets are looking at."
Trith broke in just then, and said, I have another picture, mine, look! and sent something at Remia that the girl just couldn't figure out.
It was blue in places, with a bit of blonde or cream or some light color off to one side.... but it was so blurry and confused that Remia couldn't make head nor tails of it.
"I'm sorry, Trith, I just don't know. It's too muddled." She sighed. She'd been feeling overconfident, that had probably been her downfall. And she'd been distracted talking to the other weyrlings. She hoped that they'd done better than herself.

Datiath had managed to send the image of the orange to N'tren though it had taken him longer than some of the other dragonets. Now that he had an idea of what to do and focus on, the little bronze was feeling much more confident.
This time the image was of a dark sky. Like the one now; the sky looked so ready for rain yet not a drop had fallen. The bronze turned his multi-faceted eyes upwards and focused his mind very hard.
Can you see what is in my mind, love? It is something we both know very well.
N'tren had to concentrate on this image. It was not definite like the orange had been. Strange, he should know this image. The orange had been an hard image for both of them to recieve. Taking a deep breath and exhaling, the weyrling recognized cloud shapes and darkness.
"A stormy sky?"
Close, my rider.
"A dark sky, like a night time sky?" The soon to be bronze rider more confirmed than guessed this time.
That is right!

Although the practice with the colored balls had gone resonably well for both of them, the picture-sending was more difficult, and T'nel was struggling.
The big green sends another picture. Falmanth crooned, trying to project what he saw. The image T'nel tried to recieve was muddled and unrecognizable--splashes of murky greys and blacks and speckles of white dotted the image.
Sighing in frustration, T'nel gave a wild guess. I don't know--a cave or lake or something?
Falmanth gave another croon, catching his rider's emotions. Faceted eyes whirled, at T'nel's obvious reluctance. Try again mine. he suggested. T'nel rubbed at the bridge of his nose, then took a deep breath, resolute. He'd be able to do this with Falmanth--all he had to do was concentrate.

Farin rubbed her temples somewhat. There was always so much to do that it was hard to keep everything all in one place in her mind. As if in attempt to clear her thoughts of it, she shook her hands from the corners of her hips, and decided that now was probably the time to give the dragonets a rest. There was only so much that could be accomplished without them loosing attention, and it already appeared that some of them were struggling keeping focus. This was to be expected, of course.
"Alright then. Please try to continue doing such practices on your own time, but for now, do not worry if your dragonet may have some problems sharing information. No one is perfect the first time- and to show you what I mean-" She suddenly dipped her fingers down beneath her class objects, and withdrew another wooden box. "We'll be constructing your Weyrling knot now during the break. You will thread two strings together- one of blue, and one of silver. They criss-cross quite a bit, and really the only way to get it is to try over and over to get it."
She held up the knot, and did an example of crossing the stringers together. She did so effortlessly, but only because she had only recently had to do a reknotting of hers to make the unabashedly complicated Weyrling master knot, which hung at her shoulders. "You only need to do one, but most of you may want to do two to pin to your jackets. When you advance in flight training, then you will add a tail to this, marking you as flight capable dragonriders. When you finally graduate- you will be presented with one ready-made." She did not note, however, that every knot after that they'd have to make on their own. "Alright, so. Get to that." She said sharply, and clapped her fingers together. Vera, nearby, mistook this as a calling for her, and she popped from between to land on her arm, and began to gnaw somewhat on the Weyrling master's thumb.
Farin attempted to shoo her, but when she remained, she moved back to sit on the rock. While they attempted to tie the knots, she supposed it was as good a time as ever to give them 'the talk.' But already this was becoming rather agitatious in her mind.

((I am such a post whore! ^_^))
N'tren was proud that Datiath had sent him the image so sharply the second time. He watched as the Weyrling Master looked like she had one heck of a headache to work out. He could sympathize; it was a rather large class with such a diverse background. But that should be good for the weyr... At least he thought so... Though right now he really did not hold any status nor did his opinion matter. Maybe one day he could be a wing second or dare he dream? A Weyrleader?
Shaking his head at his ambitious thoughts, N'tren brought himself from the future back to the present. Now it was time for knot making! He and his sibling has done simple braids at home; there was a game that involved braids grasses that he would play with his younger siblings. A strange ache made his way into his heart and mind. He missed his family...his father's hold and the sight of his mother's smile.
Soon, we will fly all over Pern. I will take you anywhere as long as my wings beat!
Datiath breaking into his thoughts warmed his heart over as he listened even harder about how to make his shoulder knots. Silver and blue...almost like the waves of the ocean. How pleasant. Moving forward to take a strip of each, N'tren sat down on a rock and responded to his bronze dragon.
Thank you so much, dear heart. But we must not rush ahead even if we are big and brave. I don't want to lose you.

Ryugen ((roll roll...maybe...*switched browsers*)) ((Spaz! I totaly failed...but it WORKED!!)) R'ael rubs his temples as Jaiereth attemps to share his image with him, though the best he can get is a field of deep dark blue, like his dragons hide, and a few bright sparks that might be...well shards if he knows...sand flecks on a dragons hide? Either way the insistance with which the blurry image is broadcast is all but giving him a headache, which makes the dragon 'pull back' with a faint wave of appology. I'm sorry...I just don't know... I'll try harder next time...we'll do it...I'm sure..."Damn..." He mutters, dropping his hands as Farin moves on to the next task. Weyrling knots huh? Well this should be an intersting exersize. Knots he was pretty good with, so at least it would be harder to screw up this than to try and get images from Jaiereth. It didn't surprise him that the dragon found it easier than he did...Jaiereth communicated like that a lot he supposed...he didn't. Are we allowed to come back now, Mine? Can I watch you make knots?Silver and blue, uncomfortable reminder at the moment of his failed attempt to take an image from Jaiereth. I think maybe...I'm not sure. I can ask?
