Such antics, the headmistress rolled her eyes with a soft snot as she watched the classes running about and chatter. In a way, it was a definite good sign as far as potential goes. But that didn't keep it from being annoying as all hell. Idiotic snots.

With a gesture, she had her shadow release the witch's. Definitely a gnome prank. The science department could probably use another batch of "small parts" anyway.

With a grim smile she observed the squawking bird's shadow, "At this time, it is of no worry what happens to your shadows. Their levels are not high enough to affect the world in a manner other than visual. The reverse it also true. Should you ever reach the knob levels of the Shadowcraft, this may change somewhat."

Switching her attention to the female zombie, Hellma continued, "That question, it is not bad. Under normal circumstances the shadow will be forced to return after a matter of time, no matter how far it tries to wander. You are it's energy source, and it can only do so much once detached from you."

"And yes," she rolled her eyes toward the black widow, "I should hope that much would be obvious, even to snots such as yourselves. Simple understanding will only take you so far, however."

Flicking her rule in the direction of the legless wonder, "Yes, what do you ask? You!"

For a very long time, Mai had been entirely oblivious to the rampant mischief going on around all around her. Shadows flitted by her desk and students followed after them in various stages of alarm. The noise of raised voices didn't register to her, even when she knew at one point someone was addressing her directly. Vaguely, she realized she was embarrassed that she didn't respond and thought herself quite impolite for it. But.. she just could not stop herself from staring into the depths of her own shadow. At first, she had thought that it wasn't doing anything at all. As she looked at it longer, however, she could see that it was moving....

It was almost imperceptible, being that the shadow was a uniform pitch black across its surface, but Mai thought it was most definitely stirring. She couldn't wrap her mind around what she was seeing, or rather what she thought she was seeing. The ghost wasn't sure if she wasn't just making things up in her head, because every time she moved her eyes a little, the shadow would settle back into a placid looking black blob. Except... when she stared at the same spot for a while, it would start to shift and swirl strangely. It was almost like looking into the mouth of a whirlpool, surging inexorably down into some fathomless void. There was something very dizzying in this, since there were no shades of light or color to establish depth or movement.. just a sense of these things. It mesmerized her, made her stare fixedly until the corners of her vision dimmed.

When that happened, it was almost as if Mai could feel the shadow starring right back. As if it were evaluating her, and not the other way around.

It wasn't until Hellma started speaking that her gaze was finally torn away.

Inner darkness, she mused. Frowning, she couldn't help but be worried that she might fall into the "shallow and pathetic" group of students. She glanced at her shadow for a brief moment before returning her eyes to the Professor. Regardless of its apparently torpid state, Mai made a mental note to be very careful while handling the thing. There was something about it that unnerved her deeply. For something that had been with her for her entire life (and unlife), she suddenly felt that her own shadow was something completely alien to her.

"Ah... Thank you, Professor," She nodded as she stroked her chin, contemplating Hellma's answer to her question, her lips set into a straight line. Her mind went into 'serious business' mode as she tried to figure out what her inner darkness might comprise of; if it might help her learn to control her shadow and not allow it to be the other way round, she would rack her brains to find an answer!

Her eyes rolled towards where her shadow was, and realized that it had vanished, unsurprisingly, without alerting her. Worried, she scanned the classroom, trying to locate her own shadow among all the other shadows. To her surprise, she found it rather easily - she couldn't describe how, only that it was like how a mother zebra would be able to locate her own young in a herd of similar looking zebras rather easily. Perhaps there really is a sort of mental link between her and her shadow?

Lizzy watched as the black shape - her shape - zipped around the other shadows, frolicking without a care in the world. If that was her inner darkness, it sure seemed to be rather... Bright. Her face fell; could the Professor be right after all? Was her shadow a reflection of her shallow, pathetic inner darkness? Or was it testing her?

Wait - she always thought, deep inside, that it was weird for a Demon like her to be so friendly towards all races when Demons had always been stereotyped as being 'elitist'. All the top families of the Demon world didn't get there by being soft... And she had always wanted to get there one day, with the family's clothing store. There were times when she thought that there was something wrong with her "nice" attitude, but whenever she sees the smile on a friend's face, the race of the friend don't seem to matter at all... Sometimes, it bothered her that she even thought of becoming an "elitist bully" just to fulfill her childhood dream.

"Shadow, stop." She whispered, trying to get her message across telepathically. Her shadow froze for a full 5 seconds before turning towards its owner, hovering on the wall, slightly above the floor. As Lizzy felt the shadow's gaze on her, she smiled to herself - Ha! Got it! Well, at least a small part of it, anyway, for after that 5 seconds, the shadow was back to frolicking around the class.

Tess snuck a glance at her winged shadow as it came gliding back to her just in time for the headmistress to address her. "How much of our senses can our shadows share? Like, will we be able to see anything they see and or hear? And, um, this might only apply to me but does this also mean my lower half's shadow has also separated from that part of my body?" That last question was an afterthought if anything, but it could prove very useful for Tess in locating her missing limbs.

Her shadow was relatively docile compared to the other students. Perhaps all her inner darkness was stored in her lower half and barely any was left in her upper body? Was that even possible? Was her legs' shadow kicking up a storm somewhere out there? She would have asked the headmistress but the manananggal would really rather not hold their teacher's attention for too long. That and her shadow had suddenly decided to slink towards not another shadow but another student. Oh Jack, was it trying to lick them!? Tess didn't think she'd be able to unlive it down if it-oh Jack, it was!

"Stop that!" she hissed at it.

Lucien wasn't really sure what to do. He could back away from the two shadows and pretend that wasn't his. It was a pretty plain shadow, it could be anyone! Just because it looked like him, didn't mean it was him! And of course now it looked like the two shadows were one because his shadow refused to let go off the other and Lucien had no idea why that was. He certainly didn't need the other to shuttle it around...

Lucien found himself taking a step back and even the scream of the siren, Israfel, did not want to stop him. It wasn't until his shadow rushed past the others and came back to him... with a gift, the other shadow! Lucien took another step back, surprised and confused. No, no, no! He didn't want the siren's shadow, not at all! Slowly... he looked from the two shadows to the real Israfel before directing his attention to his shadow.

"No, no," he mumbled. It seemed that was Lucien's pushing point. The game was over.

"I don't want that!" He took a deep breath, looking around. "Give it back to its owner!"

The shadow titled, looking at Israfel, clinging even more tightly to the shadow, obviously not wanting to.

"Give it back."

The shadow slowly released the other. Slowly, very slowly, as if drawing out the time it had with the other shadow.

Frustrating, it was downright frustrating Sin tried to get her shadow back under some semblance of control. She focused and took a few deep breaths trying to remember what the professor had said. Inner darkness, like her fear she just had to tap into it. Her fear seemed focused on emotions so she opened herself up a bit tried to understand what everyone was feeling. Mostly confusion, and for a few moments her shadow seemed to respond. It moved back and forth and circles around in agitated confusion before finally returning to Sin. She felt a surge of victory and her shadow did a little twirl and cheer before zipping back off to frolic with the others.

Ugh, so much for that...it had worked for a moment but the slightest lapse in her focus had allowed it to go swooping off again. She closed her eyes and tried again managing a few more times to get her shadow back by her side before she lost the focus and control and it went zipping away from her. She rubbed her temples and tried not to screech, this was incredibly frustrating.

Israfel looked at Lucien like he was a monster. A terrible person. Their shadow had brought his over to the ghost like it was a prize of sorts. Bug eyed, the siren sighed as his shadow was set free. It's muted screams only known as it made various slapping attempts on Lucien's shadows with it's wings. At least nothing bad could happen to his shadow. Professor Hellma had calmed Israfel somewhat now that her words had sunken in and he could see no damage had been done with his own eyes.

Still, the Siren's shadow was now livid. Apparently that meant it was now going to circle around and hit at Lucien's shadow. Israfel sighed. "Stop it! Do you want to be captured again?" This made his shadow pause. Then flap it's wings and hurry back to the next it had been in before. It glared at the ghost's shadow from a safe distance.
"...I don't think our shadows will be getting along." Israfel made the comment in passing to the ghost.

Lucien made a rather disgruntled noise as he watched his shadow. It was sitting there, letting the other shadow slap it with its wings. Lucien hoped his shadow wasn't doing what he thought it wasn't doing: staring at Israfel's shadow longingly. Sulking because Lucien made him give it back. Enjoying the little attention the other shadow gave it. Really now? Did his shadow miss the other that much? It was right in front of him! Did it have to be squeezing the other embarrassingly? Perhaps just touching it? Lucien was not enjoying the way his shadow was behaving at all. He wished he could pick it up and glue it back to his feet so it would stop causing so much trouble for him.

Shaking his head, Lucien looked to Israfel, kicking his feet off the ground and floating just above the ground. He crossed his legs over another and found himself in a cozy spot as he opened his mouth. He found himself saying exactly what was on his mind. "Au contraire, I think my shadow likes your shadow."

The siren shuddered. He wanted his shadow back. So much less drama to deal with. Israfel would just pawn off the extra shadow candy to someone who wanted them. After this, he was sure he didn't want to hang onto them and risk another episode like this. "I just hope it doesn't like my shadows uh..too much." The Siren's shadow seemed utterly disinterested in that of Lucien's. Almost to the point of mockery.
"I'm Israfel by the way." It was just a phase. His shadow would return soon wouldn't it? It seemed it was getting rather cozy up by the ceiling. It lounging about, arm swinging back and forth while peering down at Lucien's shadow as if to say 'I am not a plaything you silly walking thing!'

When Helma spoke Samantha found her attention ripped away from the idea of finding her shadow. If it was one thing she had learned from rumors floating around the school it was to never piss off Helma, Jack Forbid you did and found yourself in detention. She had heard a student was even killed during one once... they haunted the school to this day, which probably meant they just got moved to the ghost dorms. Regardless, she focused on Helma while ignoring the antics of the shadows around her till something strange pricked her in the back of her mind; something was wrong.

Something was very wrong actually, regardless of what Shadow Samantha wanted, it was now being attacked by some kind of Chupacabera of death. Pinned below the now bulking shadow the zombie girl's own reached up it's bone arm growing larger and distorted as it tried to claw the other off.

"H-Hey! Both of you stop that!" Stomping across the room Samantha waved a hand at the two dueling shadows, "What in Jacks name have you gotten yourself into picking on a shadow the size of a BEAR!" Unbeknown to her, Chuupi was standing right beside the brawl, just out of sight behind a squirming mass of shadow.

While the shadow earned a scowl, the creature it belonged to gained a kinder smirk. "No pardonnez, it's alright. Nice t' meet you, Malodore." Aah, she remembered him now. He'd introduced himself in Alabaster's lit class - and the werewolf still wondered about that timekeeping organ of his. "Is that what they're doing? Some of the Iberians at home knew it. I never...uh. I never thought I paid that much attention." The thought gave her a moment's pause. Davi realized that she'd never actually learned the steps of the weird dance; how did her shadow!self know it, then?

On the ceiling, Shadow!Davi made an elegant leg. One clawed hand was extended to the shadow of Malodore. It appeared that the werewolf's shade wanted to engage the Plague Doctor in a waltz.

Lucien was still very curious about the shadow candies even to his dismay of the current situation. His shadow was acting like a child who wanted, wanted and would take it and then sulk when you took it away. Over time, Lucien was sure he could have his shadow grow up. It couldn't possibly get any worse, right? Lucien's shadow however wasn't going to sulk anymore, it was rebounding time. It would try and get its bird once again! It slowly, creepily slid away from Lucien and up the wall until it was closer to Israfel's shadow. It didn't attack, it just sat there and watch it as if to say, 'I won't attack you, please don't fly away again.'

Meanwhile, Lucien looked at Israfel with a small smile curling at the tip of his lips as he spoke, "A pleasure, my name is Lucien." He took a breath, mildly looking at his shadow in the corner of his eye as it in turn watched Israfel's shadow. Wearily, he nodded to the siren. The candy's effect couldn't possibly last that much longer, could it? "Surely the effect of the candy will wear off soon, it is only temporary after all."

Ithi hadn't been paying much attention to the other student's around her. She was busy looking for her shadow. The thing had somehow disappeared again amongst the other shadows. The whole scene was quite confusing, and even Nekyia did not seem to know where the shadow had gone this time.

With all the shadows crowding the room, it was near impossible to make out her own shadow. Ithi wondered idly what all a shadow could accomplish on its own. Could it really harm other shadows or not? She wasn't about to ask any questions of their professor though. It was then she heard the headmistress speak again. Ithi felt some comfort in knowing that her shadow probably couldn't do any damage as it was. Though she wasn't too bothered in general.

Getting bored of searching for her lost shadow, Ithi sat down on the floor, avoiding the crowd of shadows from the other students. She glanced around once more for her shadow, and noticed that Nekyia was now missing as well. She sighed. She didn't really like the activity of this class. She'd have preferred to be alone. She occupied herself with watching the shadows of her classmates for a while, noticing several sneaking up on others, some going up the walls. And some were.. fighting? Ithi eyed the two dueling shadows for a moment before Samantha attempted to break them up. She hoped that her shadow was staying out of trouble unlike those two shadows.

Though in fact, her shadow was doing it's best to stay hidden. Staying in the midst of other shadows, sneaking around, quite unlike anything Ithi would do. Nekyia, meanwhile, was stalking Ithi's shadow, keeping an eye on it.

Tess' attention was torn between the headmistress and keeping her shadow in sight. Thankfully, the legless shadow didn't seem to have any luck or success in drawing notice from the others. Or at least, that's what it seemed like to her and she would very much appreciate it if it stayed that way.

Except her shadow had other ideas.

Realizing it wasn't getting much attention from its fellow shadows, it decided to see how it would fare with another student. It glided along the floor, briefly sidling up against the other faceless forms before stopping just in front of a student sitting by herself. The shadow's wings silently continued to beat despite being unable to lift itself off the floor's surface.

"P-please continue, Head Mistress, I-I'm listening," Tess gulped as she slowly, carefully tried to fly backwards in search of her rogue shadow who was apparently trying to make friends with Ithi.

Chuppi moved her hands from in front of her eyes just in time to watch her shadow - in her natural form, not this poor human form - tackle and take down the object that had been in front of her. It was impressive (and a little saddening) to see her true self go after something, considering the Chupacabra hadn't shifted since her time in coming to the school. She was a monster, this human-esque body was trapping! But that was all based the point, she had to call her shadow off!

"Shadow! Ven aqui ahora! - Come here now!"

Her voice was a little shaky but the command was true, and the shadow...actually listened. It released the other shadow without too much fuss and moved over to Chuppi's side, standing at its full height as the little monster rose to her feet. They were of course the same height but the shadow looked so much more impressive.

"Good shadow, you were protecting me? Estoy bien, I'm okay."

Now came from the task of finding the shadow whom her shadow was trying to maul, and finding the owner as well. This was going to be a little harder.
